Last month, Mackenzie Standifer welcomed her second child, a boy named Jagger Ryan Edwards. Sadly, the boy's father and namesake (Ryan Edwards, not Mick Jagger) was unable to be there for his son's birth. Edwards is in rehab being treated for a severe addiction to heroin. It looks as though he'll remain there for quite some time, and though the treatment might literally save his life, it seems Mackenzie is NOT happy about it. Take a look: 1. Troubled From the Start We would begin by discussing a simpler time in Ryan and Mackenzie’s relationship — but really, these two have had issues since day one. 2. Wedding Woes Ryan famously passed out while driving to his wedding with Mackenzie. Shortly thereafter, he checked into rehab for the first time. 3. The Relapse He left treatment ahead of schedule and relapsed within weeks. That’s when the real downward spiral began. 4. Fighting the Law and Losing Ryan was arrested three times in less than 18 months for possession charges and probation violations. 5. Bottoming Out On one recent occasion, Ryan spent nearly a full week behind bars. Shortly thereafter, he checked into rehab again. 6. A Fresh Start This time around, Ryan decided to remain in treatment for 90 days. And thus far, reports of his progress have been promising. View Slideshow
When the world learned that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson were engaged , fans were immediately skeptical of the pairing. But even those who predicted that Pete and Ariana would break up had little idea that the relationship would end so quickly — or flameout so dramatically. If you’ve been keeping up with the situation, then you’re probably aware that things got ugly between the exes in a major way last week. It all started when Davidson joked about the breakup during a promo for this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live . Ariana immediately clapped back on social media, tweeting: “For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh.” Grande then released a song in which she addressed the breakup — a single that she released just 30 minutes before SNL aired. Now, that’s some grade-A shade-throwing, and it was widely expected that the situation would deteriorate from there. But thankfully, it seems Pete and Ariana have both reached the decision to call a cease-fire. “They have no contact now and she keeps moving forward,” a source close to the situation tells People magazine. “She seems very happy and positive. She isn’t talking about dating and is instead focused on work and herself.” As for Davidson, the insider says the young comic is taking it all in stride. “Pete’s unfazed,” the source tells People. “It’s true they’re not in agreement about things after the breakup. “A lot of people thought he was the wild card in the relationship, but that’s not true. Pete has and will always joke about his life, with or without her.” Indeed, Ari has been quite outspoken on the situation, addressing the breakup directly in the lyrics “Thank U, Next”: “Plus I met someone else / We havin’ better discussions / I know they say I move on too fast / But this one gon’ last / ‘Cause her name is Ari / And I’m so good with that.” The same night the song was released, Davidson spoke candidly about the split during the “Weekend Update” segment of SNL: “The last thing I will say is I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is it’s nobody’s business, and sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s okay,” he said. “She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.” Of course, Davidson’s plea for privacy and compassion came on the heels of a joke about a wounded war veteran , but that’s a discussion for another time. Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale in American Son. Photo by Peter Cunningham Kerry Washington Tackles Implicit Bias, Classism & Biracial Identity In “American Son” She became a household name as political fixer Olivia Pope in “Scandal.” But Kerry Washington shows off an entirely different dimension of her acting chops in the new play “American Son,” which opened this month at the Booth Theater in NYC. Washington stuns in a vulnerable, visceral performance as Kendra, a mother and Harvard-educated psychologist who ends up in a Florida police station searching for her missing teenage son. Instead of finding answers, she’s met with stonewalling from the police and has to confront the state of her relationship with her estranged white husband (Steven Pasquale), and the fact that her seemingly successful life isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale in American Son. Photo by Peter Cunningham Directed by Kenny Leon, the 88-minute one-act play’s superb dialogue tackles issues like the divide between the black community and police, the erosion of families, biracial identity and classism. BOSSIP recently attended a performance, and Washington delivered a nuanced portrayal of the tragic Kendra – a capturing both strength and frailty as her character hurtles through a night that changes her life forever. Even her appearance, gaunt, frazzled and on edge, speaks to her character’s unraveling in front of the audience. The Bottom Line: We think that “American Son” will come home a winner come Tony Awards season time. “American Son” is on Broadway from now through Jan. 27th at the Booth Theatre.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta returned to Bravo on Sunday night, and things took a serious turn. As we previously reported back in June, Gregg Leakes is battling cancer. With reality TV filmed months in advance, the hit reality series opened up with a lot of details about the diagnosis. NeNe wasted no time in telling viewers all about the diagnosis, explaining that Gregg was taken to hospital in May and said he needed to get prepared for surgery straight away. “His health these last couple of years has been a lot,” said NeNe. “We were not prepared to hear that,” she continued, adding that she needed to be strong for her family. “‘I have put on a brave face, but I have had many moments in my car alone and if my car could talk it would probably say ”this b**** cries too much,'” Nene sobbed. Gregg opened up about it when some of their friends and family showed up to wish him well. “I guess the scariest part about all of this is when we got to the hospital and the doctor saying that we need to do surgery on you tonight or you ain’t going to make it,” said Gregg, adding: “I went over and prayed to God, and I told him If it’s time, let’s go,” the reality star added of learning he had cancer. “I don’t fear death; I don’t want to go. If my work is finished here, take care of them, let’s go.” That’s when the season premiere turned into a somber affair. Gregg told everyone that he had written a letter for the doctor to give his wife if he did not pull through surgery. “Writing that note was the hardest ever thing I did in my life, but you never know what is in you until you are at that door, I never thought I had it in me to beat cancer but know I’m going to beat cancer’s ass,” he said. Despite the surgery being successful, both NeNe and Gregg recognized that it could return. “You have been my light,” Gregg told NeNe. “I couldn’t do this without you. I couldn’t. I wouldn’t even try. So I want to thank you, baby.” Elsewhere, Porsha’s new boyfriend made a big impression on just about everyone, and Porsha seemed ready to move the relationship to the next stage. “The power of the tongue is real. I said just at the beginning of this year I was going to meet the man I was going to marry, I’m going to get married this year,” she said. “And here I am completely in love and white is going to be my new color as I am going to be Mrs McKinley.” Porsha subsequently opened up about how her man was so rich. “He does really, really well. America loves hot dogs, and these hot dogs are going to put a hell of a ring on my finger,” she gushed. “I just never had this type of connection on this level,” she continued. “He told me he loved me the first day we met and I was like ”I love you too” it felt natural, and we just went with it.” Porsha later met up with NeNe, and the two chatted about their lives, with NeNe revealing why she was not going sit at home and wallow in despair. “I’m the sort of person who would prefer to throw myself into work. I am not one to sit at home in a depression so I will continue to function,” NeNe told her. That’s when Porsha continued to refer to Dennis as a “friend” and NeNe was quick to point that out to the cameras. “Porsha’s been telling me a lot about how she has a new friend, it’s a guy, okay. Porsha has puppy eyes, she’s really feeling somebody,” NeNe dished to the cameras. Porsha later said she wanted to keep Dennis away from her castmates, presumably because she knows there’s always some drama. “I am very protective over Dennis, I do not want other people in our little world right now,” she admitted. “It is important for us as our friends to show her that we are here for you as well as Gregg.” But Porsha may have gotten her wish by the end of the episode. Dennis appeared with a box that looked a whole lot like an engagement ring. What are your thoughts on the premiere? Hit the comments below. So Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard … Things have been pretty weird for them lately, huh? Well, they’ve been weird for years, but that’s just how things go in Duggar relationships. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that things have been different. It all started several months ago when rumors began swirling that Derick was cheating on Jill . The rumors started with anonymous claims about his unfaithfulness, then when Duggar fans and haters began to notice, that’s when things really started heating up. And Jill and Derick haven’t done too much to fight those rumors — quite the opposite, actually. A couple of months ago, Jill shared a photo of her bible, and everyone quickly noticed that she had an entire passage about adultery highlighted . In the caption of that photo, she wrote that she was praying for Derick, which … not a great sign. Last month, she shared another photo of more reading material — this time, she had a book about boundaries and creating them with toxic people in your life . Interesting, right? But now, in a brand new post, she’s changing her tune a bit. And it sure is nauseating. Along with the photo, she wrote a sickeningly sweet caption that she kicked off with a “man of my dreams” hashtag. (Sad dreams, Jill, but OK.) She then thanked him “for being my man and my best friend!” “Love you!” she continued. “When I count my blessings, you’re at the top of my list!” “So grateful to God for you!” She wrapped things up with some kiss emojis and a “so in love” hashtag. For one, it’s kind of strange that she straight up said that Derick is her number one blessing, huh? Like, “sorry, Israel and Samuel, Mommy loves Daddy more than you.” For two, pretty much no one was here for this silliness. “In what universe does a girl/young woman ‘dream’ of marrying a lazy, bigoted, chronically unemployed grifter who drifts from job to job and resorts to GoFundMe scams to support her and her kids ?” one of her followers asked. Another person said that instead of being the man of her dreams, Derick is more likely “a man of your nightmares!” “I am not really sure what you see in that man,” yet another doubtful fan wrote. “He is soo full of himself!! The god I believe in would not hate or chastize a person for being gay or transgender .” Other people pointed out that everything Jill said is really the kind of thing that would be much more meaningful if she actually said it to Derick instead of posting about it on social media. Still others insisted that she’s just trying to talk him up because everyone hates him . One of those people said that “Jill has to make him ‘look good,’ it’s a way of being in denial to herself that she is with the wrong person.” “But she has no choice bc of her family and their values of marrying strangers and arranged at that.” But whatever her motivations were for posting this, or however mistaken she may be, Derick is still into it. “Aw, I’m blessed beyond measure by you babe, and I’ll love you forever,” he responded to Jill on Twitter. “Thanks for being the best wife and mom to our boys! We all love you so much!” View Slideshow: 19 Scandals & Counting: The Duggar Family’s Most Shameful Moments The thing is that no matter what anybody thinks about any of this, and really no matter what Derick does, Jill is never going to leave him. And how frustrating is that?
Source: gradyreese / Getty Having a sister is one of the coolest, most dramatic, loving, emotionally taxing experiences you can have in this life time. Having a sister is like having a built-in best friend, if you get along with them. Whether you’re sisters by blood, through marriage, sorority or friends who call themselves sisters, the bond is unlike any other human relationship. Even on the grander scheme of life, women are starting to band together more as a larger sisterhood, standing together against forces that try to tear us down —i.e. the male dominated government, entertainment industry, workforce, etc. Unity is key when it comes to sisterhood. Just ask Oprah who stressed the importance of sisterhood in her campaign speech for Georgia Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams . She proclaimed, “Only when we unite as sisters – and I don’t just mean ‘sistas’ – I mean sisters – black sisters, brown sisters, white sisters, Asian sisters, LGBTQ sisters. When we all unite, I know for sure a change is going to come.” Tyler Perry tapped into the unbreakable bond of sisterhood with his latest film Nobody’s Fool starring Tika Sumpter and Tiffany Haddish as siblings with totally opposite morals, values and goals in life. Tiffany revealed to Bustle what it was like working with Tika, saying, “I feel like we knew each other in a past life, and we finally met up in this life, and we making money now girl! Because we was poor in the other life,” Haddish says. Sumpter laughs, and adds, “We was stomping roaches together.” Don’t get us wrong — there are some downsides to having sisters that people without siblings can’t relate too. Like constantly being compared to them, the fights can get pretty catty and not to mention they steal your clothes. @WeeGeeFiji from Twitter tweeted, “The best thing about having 3 younger sisters is that we get to share everything from clothes to makeup which tbh is also the worst thing about having 3 sisters.” But the pros of being apart of a sisterhood can outweigh the bad. In the words of Cali Rae Turner, “The best thing about having a sister was that I always had a friend.” Facts, Cali! Be sure to check out Nobody’s Fool hitting theaters this weekend, and hit the flip for more films that you and your sister should watch together.
Don McLean’s last marriage lasted for about 29 years and ended with him getting arrested for domestic violence against then-wife Patrisha. Now, the 73-year-old music legend has moved on with a 24-year-old girlfriend, Paris Dylan. The couple has made their relationship official by gushing about it on Instagram. Don McLean is a musician, best known for the album American Pie and particularly for the song of the same name. Paris Dylan is a Catfish alum who has been featured in Playboy and Maxim . They’ve made it very clear on social media that they are dating. “A dream with my love,” Paris captioned one recent photo. In another, she gushes, calling McLean the “love of my life.” In October, she wished him: “happy birthday my baby, my beauty, love of my life, my everything.” The pair of them have done a lot of traveling this year. The singer and his model girlfriend visited Germany, France, the UK, and Israel. While in France, Paris visited the city of the same name. The couple, as you can see in the photo above, posed in front of the Eiffel Tower. They also visited the Louvre. It’s unclear when their relationship officially began. As far back as November of 2016, Paris shared a photo of the two of them, but that’s not the same thing as dating. It was really in March of 2018 when the two of them seemed to be joined at the hip — almost literally — and posting a steady stream of photos. That is when the two were “linked,” but officially speaking, they were just pals. Now that they’ve both been gushing about each other and sharing the same photos on social media, we can comfortably call them a couple. Paris Dylan is a model who, as we mentioned, has posed for Playboy and Maxim . As you can see in every photo in which she appears, she certainly has the qualifications — and we mean that sincerely — for that kind of modeling. But she is really best known for appearing in a wildly elaborate episode of Catfish . That particular episode, as you may recall, involved NBA star Chris “Birdman” Andersen. Now she’s traveling the world with a music legend and, from what she rights on social media, both deeply in love and enjoying each country she visits. The couple’s age gap spans nearly 50 years. People can have a cynical view towards relationships that feature massive age gaps. A lot of the time, there’s a pattern. Often, there’s a very unbalanced power dynamic that favors the party who is older, wealthier, more famous, and male. Some may view Paris Dylan as either a lucky groupie, someone being exploited in their search for stability, or even a predator taking advantage of an older man. We would prefer to reserve judgment until there is any indication that this is something other than a relationship between two people born at very different times. So far, there are no hints that anyone involved is in any way unhappy. Until that changes, let’s leave well enough alone. Maybe we can even be happy for them. There’s little enough joy in the nightmarish hellscape of 2018. View Slideshow: 25 Couples With HUGE Age Differences
