She may be a hot mess, but at least Lindsay Lohan has a sense of humor. It’s back to the grind for the troubled actress, who was found unresponsive and treated by paramedics Friday after a 911 caller reported she was unconscious. Back on the set of her new movie Liz & Dick the same day, Lohan – whose rep said she suffered from exhaustion and dehydration – was laughing it off. “Note to self…” the 25-year-old actress Tweeted afterward. “After working 85 hours in 4 days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door.” “Hopefully they’re cute. Otherwise it would be a real letdown.” Hopefully they were indeed. Well played, Lindsay Lohan . Her rep Steve Honig said that Lohan “was examined and is fine” and said her condition was due to her “grueling schedule” on set of the Lifetime movie. Honig added that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, which is probably true … but it tells you something that he even needs to say so. [Photo: WENN.com]
Bobbi Kris can sing?? On May 20th at The Billboard Awards, we’ll find out. Bobbi Kristina’s hopes to become a singer will come true when she hits the stage at the award show. Bobbi has been tapped to participate in a musical tribute to her late mother, Whitney Houston: R&B divas Brandy, Monica and Gladys Knight will present with Chris Brown, Usher and Justin Bieber giving special performances. Though details are sparse as to what Kristina’s role will be, it’s sure to be an emotional one. The announcement of her contribution to the event also comes with the news that Houston’s family, including her mother, daughter, brother and sister-in-law will also be the stars of a new reality TV series entitled The Houston Family Chronicles. The show will document the grieving family across 10 one-hour episodes on the Lifetime network to air later this year. Meanwhile, the newly engaged Bobby Brown told Billboard Friday that he has not heard of the show. “I haven’t heard about that and I definitely question it,” he said. “But I know my daughter will make the right decisions in her life. She was brought up right.” Brown, who starred in the 2005 series Being Bobby Brown is also working on his own reality show. “The Houston Family Chronicles was already in the works at the time of Whitney’s death. [Her] unexpected passing … certainly affects the direction of the show,” Pat, the wife of Whitney’s brother Gary said. “However it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.” While we applaud Bobbi’s courage to be able participate in this tribute, we wonder how her ummm… singing ability will stand up next to the likes of Gladys Knight and Monica. Will she be able to stand the pressure of not necessarily sounding like her mother but at least meeting her standard of vocal greatness? Jesus be an auto-tune. Will you be tuning into The Billboard Awards? Source Continue reading →
‘The Houston Family Chronicles,’ which will feature Bobbi Kristina Brown and Cissy Houston, premieres on Lifetime later this year. By John Mitchell Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage A new reality series featuring the family of late pop superstar Whitney Houston will premiere on Lifetime later this year, the network announced in a statement Friday (May 11). Titled “The Houston Family Chronicles,” the show will feature Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and mother Cissy Houston, though the focus will be on “The Bodyguard” superstar’s brother Gary Houston and sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, as well as their daughter, Rayah. Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick and Bobbie Kristina’s godmother, gospel legend CeCe Winans, will also appear in the series. According to Lifetime, the reality show will focus on Pat and Gary “as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother.” Whitney Houston died on February 11 of this year at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The L.A. County coroner ruled that accidental drowning was the official cause of Houston’s death, adding that cocaine use and heart disease were contributing factors. The report indicated traces of cocaine were found in Houston’s system at the time of death along with Xanax, Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, though officials said these substances played no role in her untimely passing. “The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow.” Lifetime has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of “The Houston Family Chronicles” and will premiere the show at a yet-undetermined time later this year. According to Pat Houston, the show had been in the works well before Whitney’s death. “I have been working with Simmons-Shelley [production company] over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family,” Pat Houston said. “The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show. However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.” Will you watch “The Houston Family Chronicles”? Let us know in the comments below. ‘You will always remember where you were … when you heard the news,’ Simon Cowell says, echoing the sentiments after Jackson’s death. By Tomika L. Anderson Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston in 1988 Photo: WireImage Few people will forget where they were when they heard that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, had died in June 2009. And now, the same can be said for 1980s and ’90s Queen of Pop Whitney Houston . The beloved, long-suffering singer died Saturday inside a Beverly Hills hotel room, hours before she was expected to attend a pre-Grammy Awards party thrown by her longtime mentor Clive Davis . And while the official cause of death is yet unknown — what’s been speculated so far is that Houston may have drowned in the bathtub after taking prescription drugs, including Xanax — given her very public struggle with substance abuse, depression and anxiety over the past decade, it’s hard not to conclude that some drug- or alcohol-related accident may have been to blame. It’s much like, most recently, British singer Amy Winehouse and the late, great Michael Jackson before her, who died after taking a fatal cocktail of propofol and two other drugs. Also like Jackson, Houston’s sudden death — at the age of 48 — has stopped the world in its tracks, an enormous, one-of-a-kind musical flame forever extinguished. Even Jackson’s brother, Jermaine — who was first introduced to Houston years ago by Clive Davis at the same Beverly Hills Hilton where the singer passed away — could not help but draw the comparison. In an interview with CNN overnight, he paid tribute to the two fallen musical giants. “They shared a lot of success in the late ’80s and they were great friends,” he said. “I’m happy and honored to have been a part of their lives.” And oh, what lives they led: Like Jackson — who died at just 50 years old, after years of struggling with personal demons — Houston, too, had an intensely profound and everlasting impact on the world of entertainment. Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and countless other chart-topping entertainers have all name-checked her as their musical mentor, icon and inspiration: To date, she is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with more than 170 million albums, songs and videos sold. In her lifetime, Houston achieved what precious few of them have or ever will — stacking an astonishing 415 awards, including six Grammys, two Emmys, 22 American Music Awards, 30 Billboard Awards. Her voice, in its prime, was a national treasure. “X Factor” mastermind Simon Cowell may have summed it up the best: On “Piers Morgan Tonight,” he said, “She was one of the greatest voices in our lifetime. Whitney was the number one singer that other singers want to emulate. People like that can’t be manufactured. They’ve either got, it or they don’t.” He added, “You will always remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news.” Like Michael before her, gone too soon. MTV News’ Sway and James Montgomery will be live from the Grammys red carpet tonight starting at 5 p.m. ET to get reactions from music’s biggest stars on the death of Whitney Houston. Watch reactions and remembrances at MTV.com. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page. OMG. Matthew Broderick is finally reprising his career-defining role of Ferris Bueller. That’s the good news. The bad? It’s only for a Super Bowl commercial. The sequel to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been rumored for years, and will likely never happen. Which is probably for the best, as it could never be topped. Perhaps a 30- or 60-second Super Bowl ad – for what, we have no idea, but a teaser for the spot appears below – is the perfect dose of Bueller in 2012. Check out a gray-haired Matthew reenacting a famous scene below: Matthew Broderick Ferris Bueller Ad Tease We don’t know what’s funnier, seeing Broderick as a middle-aged version of Ferris, or that we live in an age where Super Bowl commercials have their own trailers.
