The Tao Of Snoop Lion: 9 Quotable Lines From Snoop Dogg’s Reggae Doc Reincarnated

Reincarnated begins, appropriately, with a big cloud of smoke. Over the course of the documentary, which premiered today in Toronto, rapper Snoop Dogg (real name: Calvin Broadus) transitions into his reggae-focused new alter ego Snoop Lion , dropping classic lines left and right. Will Snoop Lion be around for long? “I’m Snoop Motherfuckin’ Dogg till the day I die,” he told reporters , “but at the same time when I’m making my reggae music I’m in the light of the Lion.” Well then! Get to know the Lion a little better with 9 Snoop Lion quotables from Reincarnated . 1. ” Reggae is a form of hip hop and hip hop is a form of reggae .” 2. Sample lyrics of Snoop Lion’s first reggae recording, “Smoke Da Weed”: ” Smoke da weed / Every day / Don’t smoke da seed …” 3. Snoop, after revealing that he stole from his white school friends: ” You all know you shouldn’t have let me in your motherfuckin’ houses .” 4. Snoop’s cousin Daz: ” I’m smoking a blunt in the jungle! ” 5. To reggae legend Bunny Wailer: “W e want to bless you with some California herbs that we have .” 6. ” My songs are too hard…I know Obama wants me to come to the White House, but what the fuck can I perform? ” 7. ” I want to be loved while I’m here. And the only way to get love is to give love. ” 8. Snoop on turning 40: ” I’m wiser, or a bit wiser. Like Budweiser. ” 9. Not a quote, but a fun fact: Snoop’s Rastafarian name is “Berhane,” which means “light.” Stay tuned for more on Reincarnated . check out Movieline’s ongoing coverage of the Toronto Film Festival. Teen Mom Finale Recap: End of an Error

For Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Farrah Abraham, this chapter of their cartoonishly animated book of MTV life is over. The final episode of Teen Mom aired Tuesday night, marking the end of an era (error?) for the fab four who started it all on 16 & Pregnant . Where did they leave things as the curtain bowed? Let’s find out in our final Teen Mom +/- recap! Farrah Abraham finished her first quarter of school! With straight A’s! Plus 20 . She really missed Sophia, though, and made it clear she doesn’t want to send her away like that anymore. She cried about this a lot, as Sophia makes her very emotional. The little girl even noticed, calling her a “cry baby.” Plus 10 . “Mommy you’re a bad person.” – Sophia. Plus 50 . Have you seen Farrah’s “On My Own” music video ? That’s funnier and more revealing than anything a filler episode can really offer. Plus 50 . The drama with Tyler’s father starts to take its toll on the kid. He’s high strung and dropping f-bombs like a madman. Chill out, T! Minus 25 . His and Cate’s final story involves a dog dropping a deuce. Sums it all up right there. We love Cate and Ty, but time to move on. Minus 40 . Tyler Baltierra eventually sees a therapist and breaks down, which is a very sad moment but an empowering one at the same time. Plus 10 . “I don’t know why. I never did anything wrong so I don’t know why he doesn’t love me,” he said, before cutting Butch out for good. Plus 30 . Let’s hope April does the same. We’re skeptical. Minus 20 . All the tension between Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards continued boiling, but then the series kind of ended and not much was resolved there. Maci is pissed because Ryan gets Bentley for his b-day but she “spent 37 hours in the hospital pushing Bentley out of [her] hoo-hoo.” Plus 5 . Ryan is filing for joint custody and trying to block Kyle and Maci from living together since they’re not married … good luck with that. Minus 20 . Once he brought that up to his parents and girlfriend Dalis, she quickly said, “What if we decide to live together?” Light bulb? On. Plus 10. Who is Ryan kidding anyway. His mom does all the work. Guy’s come a long way since he abandoned Maci with a newborn, but custody? Please. Minus 40 . Maci gets a B on a test! OMG! Plus 15. Amber Portwood ‘s new guy friend, Mike, seemed like a nice guy but Gary didn’t care and hated him regardless. Way to be supportive. Minus 10 . Mike hilariously says Ambs is a real “sweetheart,” meaning he has almost certainly never seen an episode of Teen Mom in four years. Plus 20 . A huge argument went down when Gary decided to throw Leah a birthday party that Amber wasn’t allowed to go to, instead of waiting until after their court hearing to celebrate. Amber gets a lot of flak but this guy is no prize. Minus 30 . Gary apparently calls Amber “slut puppy.” Minus 70 . Of course, you know Amber and Gary. Within 10 minutes they’re back on good terms and going to court together, arm in arm. Sniff . Plus 25 . Ultimately, Gary got sole custody of Leah and the no-contact order was dropped. Seems like these two are really pulling it together! Plus 25. Oh, right. She’s in jail for the next five YEARS. Minus 100. EPISODE TOTAL: -95. SEASON TOTAL: -320.

In Her Own Words: Tameka Foster Releases Touching Personal Statement

Tameka Foster spoke out on her son’s death and the current custody court hearings for the first time today. To begin, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the countless number of people who opened their hearts, extended their prayers, well-wishes and remained hopeful for my son Kile during the last weeks of his life. I truly believe that he has always been an Angel from birth and the World was just too small to contain a spirit so vast. I’m thankful and blessed to merely be the vessel that carried him and humbled that God gave him to us to love. I also feel humbled by everyone’s show of concern, and knowing that Kile Glover touched the lives of so many has given me strength during my worst & darkest hour … Again I THANK YOU ALL! Sadly, I remain in the unfortunate position of having to respond to and attend court proceedings that were not initiated or begun by me. I did not file this custody case (January 2011) and was content with the ‘joint custody’ arrangement that we share.  Most importantly, nor do I wish to appear in court while I am mourning the loss of my son. But I do not want to delay thus prolong these proceedings either; I’d rather continue this arduous process hoping it will help move me through this most difficult period in my life.  People seem to be privy to only my filed responses as ‘Defendant’ to the initiation of this case (Jan 4, 2011), when I have only been defending myself and protecting the best interests of my children through my counsel. I cannot control how the media reports are written/slanted/spun or even how court documents may be manipulated in their attribution of certain statements as if they are direct “quotes” from me- yet I can control what I actually say myself. This may sound really cliché but you must NOT believe everything you read or hear and never judge… especially without solid facts and always, but always consider the source. Discernment is key. My boys are my entire world and I will fight tooth and nail to keep all of my sons together as a family, I pray for a swift, peaceful resolution so that we all can move forward. Again, thank you for your concern, positive energy and hope for my family during this surreal time. There have been times when just the right words, at the right time, have provided me shelter through this storm and I appreciate you all. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. With Love & Light, Tameka Foster Raymond Her words are touching and we wish her our condolences once again. It’s a shame Usher even wants to proceed with the custody case. Why doesn’t he want her to have joint custody again? Twitter

Snoop Lion: Snoop Dogg Unveils New Name, Reggae Focus

Snoop Dogg is now the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg. The rapper announced last night that he’s no longer Snoop Dogg … or a rapper. He will be focusing on creating reggae music under the name Snoop Lion! “Rap is not a challenge to me,” the Doggfather said Monday at a press event in New York City, explaining his transformation to the … Lionfather? “With no disrespect to other rappers, but they can’t f**k with me in rap,” he added. “I’ve won every accolade you can in rap, they call me ‘Uncle Snoop’ in rap. When you’re an uncle, it’s time to find something new … I want to feel like a kid again.” Thus, get ready to hear Snoop Lion roar … or at least drop smooth, Caribbean-influenced beats on his new project called, Reincarnated . “It’s not that I want to become Snoop Dogg on a reggae track,” Snoop reiterated. “I want to bury Snoop Dogg, and become Snoop Lion .” “I didn’t know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion.'” “From that moment on, it’s like I had started to understand why I was there.” It’s unclear if he means that metaphorically or literally, but good to know. Red Light Cameras Suspended in New Jersey After Hundreds of Erroneous Tickets Mailed

New Jersey’s red light camera program has been suspended pending a widespread number of tickets issued erroneously to people going through yellow lights. That’ll do it. The newly-installed cameras, placed at busy intersections to capture speeders and red light runners in the act, result in tickets being mailed to the violators. In addition to coming as a surprise (and raising civil rights questions) among those who are unaware they’re being filmed … they’re also not accurate. In New Jersey, 63 out of 85 traffic cameras apparently weren’t calibrated correctly and not allowing sufficient time to proceed through yellow caution lights. Officials are suspending camera use for the time being, presumably to fix the lights. People who have already paid their tickets won’t get a refund, however. Officials are, however, willing to work with motorists on getting the tickets expunged from their record, according to the National Motorists Association. Cameras at the impacted intersections will continue to run and register violations but those violations will no longer be sent to motorists automatically. If the yellow light timing is found to be below the requirement on video, motorists won’t be mailed a ticket. If the minimum requirement is met, they will. Since NJDOT gave an August 1 date to get this done, that is within the 90 days allowed for a ticket to be delivered after the violation is determined.

Akon Passed On Signing Drake, Kardinal Offishall Says

‘It’s one of those things that worked out beautifully for Drake with YMCMB. He’s got a good camp,’ Kardi tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake Photo: Akon sure has an ear for top-notch talent; just ask T-Pain and Lady Gaga . Still, even the best music execs miss out from time to time, and on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” Kon’s buddy Kardinal Offishall revealed the “Locked Up” singer’s most notable miss. “The biggest one that he passed on, I told him about Drake early,” Kardi revealed. “I said, ‘Kon, this kid is a T.V. star… and this kid is crazy.’ ” Kardinal, like Drizzy, hails from Toronto, but was able to establish himself as a notable rap talent years before Drake broke out with 2009’s So Far Gone. “I had met him years before he started with his first mixtape,” Offishall said. “The thing that’s dope about Drake is that I remember, like he was just hungry because he wanted to make that transition from the acting to the rapping.” Kardi recalled a specific meeting where the OVO spitter played him an early mixtape, which he was instantly impressed with. The two even collaborated on “The Last Hope,” a song off of Drake’s 2007 mixtape Comeback Season. It would take a number of years, but by the time Drake officially arrived with So Far Gone, there was little doubt that he was going to be huge. “After he blew, I went back and said, ‘See Kon, I told you,’ ” Kardinal said. “But it’s one of those things that worked out beautifully for Drake with YMCMB. He’s got a good camp.” Where do you think Drake’s career would be today if he had signed with Akon? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Drake Akon
