Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me’ Leaks Online

Uptempo pop-rock tune is reportedly lifted from singer’s Teenage Dream recording sessions. By James Dinh Katy Perry Photo: lai seng sin/ AFP/ Getty Images Just a few weeks ago, Katy Perry confessed that she was ready to take her relationship with Russell Brand to the next level by taking his last name. Despite the amorous stage in her life, the pop star appears strong, bold and just a tad resentful after a breakup on the previously unheard pop-rock song “Part of Me,” which surfaced on the Internet on Wednesday. With reported production by pop mastermind Dr. Luke, the song has Perry declaring herself unbreakable after an ugly breakup, singing , “Days like this I want to drive away/ Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade/ ‘Cause you chewed me up and spit me out/ Like I was poison in your mouth/ You took my light, you drink me down/ That was then and this is now, now look at me.” Similar to the pop star’s hit single “California Gurls,” the tune’s steady beat amplifies as the chorus opens. “This is the part of me/ That you’re never gonna ever take away from me/ Throw your sticks in the stones/ Throw your palms in your clothes/ But you’re not gonna break my soul/ This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me,” she sings. “Part of Me” is rumored to be a leftover cut from the singer’s Teenage Dream recording sessions. However, fans have speculated that the track may be included in a yet-to-be-confirmed re-release of the Grammy-nominated LP. In addition to the new material, fans can rejoice in yet another Perry tune, “E.T.,” as online reports have indicated that the futuristic song has been selected as the pop star’s next single. Despite multiple live performances of the song, Perry took to Twitter to ask her legion of fans which track they’d like the singer to release next. “Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today!” she tweeted on December 13. “Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…” What do you think of Katy’s latest song? Share your reviews in the comments! Related Photos Katy Perry’s Amazing Year Related Artists Katy Perry

Meet Wesley Snipes Cell Mate (Satire)

RADFORD, PENNSYLVANIA – After finally giving up on appealing his tax evasion conviction, Wesley Snipes turned himself in to McKean Federal Prison Thursday to begin serving his three year sentence. After several hours of processing and orientation, Wesley Snipes was assigned a cell and then introduced to his new cellmate, Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa. After more processing, Wesley Snipes was taken back and locked inside the nine-by-twelve cell he’ll be sharing with Mr. Samsa for the next three years. Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa is in his second year of a six year sentence for burglary and grand larceny convictions. Three years ago it was discovered that he had burrowed into his vacationing neighbor’s basement, eaten all the food in their freezer and pantry, chewed holes in their furniture, linens and several expensive sweaters, and was in the process of building what appeared to be a nest in the corner of their laundry room. At the trial his lawyer attempted an insanity defense, claiming that his client awoke one morning to discover that he was an insect, but the jury didn’t bite and Mr. Samsa was sentenced to six years at McKean. Warden Kent Clark told The Daily Rash that the initial meeting between Wesley Snipes and Mr. Samsa went without incident. “The Bug Man is not one for small talk. After quickly shaking hands with Mr. Snipes he scurried back to his bunk. He tends to keep to himself most of the time. As long as Wesley Snipes isn’t looking for conversation from his cell-mate, I don’t foresee any problems in the next three years of his stay with us.” Several sources inside the prison claim that although Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa is viewed by many as peculiar and unusual, he’s never harmed anyone or been in trouble. Bill Bailey has worked as a guard at McKean prison for twenty-seven years. He told The Daily Rash that he’s confident that over time Wesley Snipes will grow accustomed to Bug Man’s “offbeat” behaviors. Wesley Snipes “Bug Man has a couple of peculiarities that I’m confident Wesley Snipes will eventually learn to tolerate. For example, Bug Man suffers from profuse sweating, chronic diarrhea and he doesn’t like to bathe… which makes for a less than appealing aroma inside a nine-by-twelve foot cell. But we do provide plenty of cans of Glade air fresheners and in the past, several of Bug Man’s cell-mate’s have found relief with large, pungent bowls of potpourri, scented candles and strong colognes. Once he adjusts, there’s no reason Mr. Snipes shouldn’t feel comfortable in his new cell.” Officer Bill Bailey paused to bark an order into his walki-talkie. “Bug Man does have one sore spot though,” he continued, “he doesn’t enjoy being looked at while he’s moving his bowels, which, because of his chronic diarrhea, occurs anywhere from ten to twenty times a day. Since prison cells are so small, it’s difficult to avoid looking in the direction of a man sitting just a couple of feet away from you while he’s having violent, explosive bowel movements. But since it happens so often, I am confident Mr. Snipes will reconcile himself to his new environment. And like I said, he’s got access to all the Glade freshener he can spray.” “It took me several months to adjust to the Bug Man,” Corrections Officer Cecil Jasper told The Daily Rash. “He sleeps during the daytime because at night he sits in front of the cell bars and stares up at the light bulb in the corridor. All night long he just looks at that light. When he does finally sleep, he sleeps under his bunk.” Officer Cecil cleared his throat. “He’s also a compulsive masturbater, which isn’t uncommon in a correctional facility. But when the Bug Man is, uh, you know….finishing, he releases a deep, guttural scream. It’s extremely loud and it echoes throughout the facility and scares some of the other prisoners.” Officer Cecil wiped his brow, “I would find it very difficult sharing a cell with him, but that’s just me. I’m sure Mr. Snipes will be just fine.” With just under eleven hundred days before his release, Wesley Snipes has a whole bunch of time to learn to tolerate his new roommate. added by: tverdell

Yay! Bike & Pedestrian Cal Park Tunnel Opens in Marin County (Video)

A Second Life for an Old Train Tunnel Ever since the late 1970s, people have been trying to turn a 124-year-old abandoned railroad tunnel into something that pedestrians and cyclists could use (and eventually, bringing back light-rail to it). Active development started 12 years ago, and after a looooong wait, the 1.2 mile tunnel (not the best place to be if you are claustrophobic) has now been officially opened in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to commute between the Larkspur Ferry landing and San Rafael in a … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Dr. Dre’s ‘Kush’ Premieres, And The Party Can Finally Begin

Video featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon shows revelers frozen in time until the Doctor arrives. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage Detox is on the way. And as the latest proof that Dr. Dre ‘s long-awaited album will see the light of day soon, he premiered the video to the first single, “Kush,” co-starring Snoop Dogg and Akon , on Friday (December 10). The video, directed by Joseph Kahn (Eminem, Britney Spears), begins as Dre is seated in a sleek, black Lamborghini, attempting to flick a lighter. Once the Left Coast maestro gets the light on, the beat drops, and he exits the car. Dre approaches the club in a setting similar to “The Next Episode,” one of his past hits. But the festivities around him are ice cold; the club patrons are statue-like, frozen in the parking lot and inside, in mid groove. The good doctor’s last project was 1999’s 2001, and perhaps things haven’t been quite the same without him, the video suggests. Snoop Dogg kicks things off on the second verse, and the lanky L.A. rhyme spitter is surrounded by a bevy of beautiful, frozen women. They’re smiling, drinks are pouring, but they’re also statues compared to the rapper. As Dre makes his way into the club and to the bar, however, the party livens up. Dre pulls out his lighter, engraved with the song’s title, and holds it to the sprinklers overhead and sets them off. As water rains down on the partygoers, they come back to life, gyrating to the thumping track’s production. Later, Dre and Snoop leave the club, and Dre drives off into the night on an empty highway, surrounded by the streaking lights of cars that are no longer there. Recently, Eminem told his satellite radio station, Shade 45, that he and Dre have been in the studio wrapping up Detox. “Kush” and “I Need A Doctor,” featuring Eminem , leaked back to back in November. However, as with any new system, we'll still be tweaking the levels and adjusting things to achieve optimum spam defeating levels. While we're doing this, the occassional bit of spam may slip through, so if you see any please flag it for us, so we can help teach the filters to better recognize spam. You may also find that some of your comments get caught up in the net. We're doing our best to make sure this doesn't happen, but if you try to post a comment and don't see it appear, that's likely the cause. We will be going through these comments and fishing out anything that's mistakenly caught up in the spam net. Nicki Minaj’s Femcee Handbook Has Shades Of Lauryn Hill

With 375,000 sold, Pink Friday is the highest-selling hip-hop female debut since The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998. By Paul Cantor Nicki Minaj Photo: Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images Nicki Minaj came out of the gate sprinting last week. Her debut LP, Pink Friday , racked up sales of 375,000 copies, making it the highest-selling first album from a female hip-hop act since Lauryn Hill ‘s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill back in 1998 (which sold 423,000). It’s almost appropriate that Minaj should share that distinction with Ms. Hill, because while they’re definitely very different stylistically, they’re actually very much cut from the same cloth. “At one time, you had to sell a few kilos to be considered a credible rapper,” Minaj says in the December 9 issue of Rolling Stone . “But now, it’s like Drake and I are embracing the fact that we went to school, we love acting, we love theater, and that’s OK — and it’s especially good for the black community to know that’s OK, that’s embraced.” When Lauryn Hill skyrocketed to fame with the Fugees in the mid-’90s, and then later on her own, she was very much in the same lane as Minaj. Perhaps more artsy, more earthy, more organic and less glammed-up, but still, at the core, a lyricist who earned respect from the hip-hop community by showing and proving as a hip-hop act first and foremost before becoming a celebrated pop star. Lauryn Hill sang a great deal on her debut LP. On Pink Friday , Minaj sings a bit as well. Lauryn acted in the film “Sister Act 2” in 1993, before the Fugees were a household name. Minaj attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she studied drama, and has indicated many times that she thought she’d grow up to be an actress, not a rapper. But their similarities come into full view when you examine how both artists embrace their female power in a male-dominated industry. At the time of Lauryn’s ascension, she was the counterpoint to the hyper-sexual Lil’ Kims and Foxy Browns of the hip-hop world — artists who were selling their sexuality just as much as their music. Minaj entered the music industry doing much of the same, but in the past year, has noticeably turned away from an overtly sexual image. She also has moved away from being one of Lil Wayne’s underlings and carved her own identity, much like Hill did with bandmate Wyclef Jean. “I have the same power as these boys,” Minaj says in the Rolling Stone profile. “I have the same magic carpet. There’s nothing different between me and them except they have a twig and berries, and I don’t. I no longer feel lesser than. I don’t want my girls to feel that way. “I want them to feel that, even if you have a 9-to-5, if you grow up to be vice president of the company, you should earn the same thing the male vice president earned. You should demand the same thing.” What artists would you compare to Nicki Minaj? Share your ideas in the comments below!
