Lil Wayne Says “It Feels F****d-Up” To Be Sober & Speaks On Retiring At 35

Read the original here:

Lil Wayne is certainly confident and effortlessly genius. He has transformed himself from artist to boss of one of the biggest music crews around. Though, on top of his game he plans to retire around the age of 35! In a recent interview with GQ, Wayne talks about being a soccer-dad and how it feels to be sober. On Retiring: Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That’s reason number one. I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I’ve only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it’d be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects. But the main reason is my kids, my children. Now, if I thought I’d be selfish to my artists, imagine what I think I would be doing to my kids. I have enough money that they don’t have to ever do anything—which, they will do everything, ’cause they ain’t getting shit. [cackles wildly] Six [more] years, I can do this Lil Wayne thing, and my boys will be about 7 and 8 years old. And man, it’s all about them then. You know, whatever they’re doing. Sports. Whatever they’re into. That’s where I am. I’m at every game. I’m the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That’s me. On Being Sober: I’m good. I ain’t tripping. I’m used to it now. But I was never on heroin or cocaine or Ecstasy or nothing like that. I drank syrup and smoked a lotta weed. I wish I could be back on it. That’s how it fucking feels. [cracking himself up] “How does it feel to be sober?” I’ll be like, “It feels fucked-up.” What you want me to say? “It feels great”? No. I was on something that the doctor prescribed. I was ill, and that was helping me. Click here for the full story at GQ.com

Diggy Simmons: “My Biggest Fear Is God” [EXCLUSIVE]

Continue reading here:

As the son of hip-hop royalty (Rev Run of Run DMC), Diggy Simmons could be a brat. He could request the world at his feet without ever having lifted a finger. He could use his father’s name to his advantage for things he doesn’t deserve. But instead he’s just a normal 16-year-old boy – one who wants a girlfriend and one who has a dream. Unlike most though, he’s making his come true as a rapper (who admirably, refuses to curse). HB got the chance to speak with Diggy about his perfect girl and perfect date, and his greatest inspiration and fear. WATCH! Did Lil Wayne REALLY Sell A Milli?

When Lil Wayne sold a million units of “Tha Carter III” in 2008, the number was impressive but not shocking. Weezy was on fire, and songs like “A Milli” and “Lollipop” made the album highly anticipated. The sales of CDs have been on a steady decline as digital music has gained popularity. As a result, many of music’s biggest stars have a hard time selling 1 million CDs during the promotional run of the project. So for anyone to sell that many copies in a week beyond huge. Lil Wayne’s follow up “Tha Carter IV” was released digitally after the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards aired on August 28th (the night he rocked leopard print jeggings), and it sold 362,000 copies. Plus, it broke iTunes’ record for the most album sales in a single week, dethroning Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch The Throne” after only three weeks. “Tha Carter IV” was forecast to sell about 850,000 digital and physical copies combined, but Lil Wayne beat that number easily by selling 964,000 in CDs alone, according to Billboard.com . (Digital and CD sales combined bring “Tha Carter IV” to over 1.3 million units sold in one week.) Did Lil Wayne actually sell that many copies? He’s not as hot now as he was when he sold 1.1 million copies of “Tha Carter III” in one week back in 2008. “How To Love” and “She Will” are number 7 and 17, respectively on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, but their buzz doesn’t match the heat “A Milli” and “Lollipop” generated. Did Cash Money Records, the label Lil Wayne’s signed to, purchase copies to boost the record sales so Weezy could have the bragging rights of selling over a million units in one week twice? Or did Weezy really do what seemed like the impossible? Cash Money CEO Birdman denies this rumor during an interview with Sway on his Shade 45 morning show by stating, “That’s hustling backwards; we ain’t in it for that.” We want to know what you think. Did Lil Wayne’s team help him by buying up copies of “Tha Carter IV” or not? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
