I guess this is how they keep all of that “Cash Money”, by not paying people!! Grammy-award winning producer Darius ‘Deezle’ Harrison made headlines this year when he filed a reported $20 million lawsuit against Lil Wayne and his Cash Money/Young Money empire. The lawsuit alleged that Wayne and his imprints failed to pay him royalites for one of the rapper’s biggest hits to date “Lollipop”, estimated to have accumulated over $70 million in sales. Since then Deezle, the producer, instrumentalist, singer AND rapper, says he’s been misrepresented in the media as a money-hungry ‘monster’ instead of what he really was—the in-house producer for Cash Money Records after the departure of Mannie Fresh. Two of Lil Wayne’s security guards were arrested for impersonating police officers after allegedly escorting Weezy into a Bloomington, Indiana nightclub while wearing replicas of police uniforms and gun belts. Ronald Andre Harrod, 43, and Larry Lee Richardson, 23, both of Indianapolis, are also accused of leading Weezy and his entourage of tour buses to the nightclub while driving vehicles armed with sirens and red and blue lights. Harrod and Richardson told authorities that they were properly licensed to use the equipment on their vehicles. The men were charged with impersonating a public servant. Weezy was not involved in the incident and went on to perform in his hometown of New Orleans the next day. Chris Brown’s latest single “Look At Me Now” has some pretty complicated wordplay from Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. We’d sing along to it if only we could keep up. Good thing a white girl named Karmin does it for us! Not only did Karmin body each verse, she did it without dropping the N-word. Over the weekend, Big Pun aficionados hit the streets and rallied to rename the Bronx, NY intersection of 163rd Street and Rogets Place as Big Pun Place . The spot, which houses the iconic Pun memorial painted by the TATS Cru, needs some petition signatures to have a shot at becoming official, but it got us thinking about some other hip-hop artists that deserve their own streets. Here’s our top 5: Related: Big Pun Remembered 10 Years After His Death Jay-Z – No brainer, right? The only question here is which way to view the ever-versatile Brooklyn MC. While Madison Avenue, with its mixture of business and advertising, might be in play when all is said and done, we’ll suggest that Hov’s former home off of Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn would be the perfect fit. New name: Jay-Z Avenue Lil Wayne – Lil Wayne may have spent most of his life on a tour bus, but that doesn’t mean his New Orleans roots are forgotten. The Young Money leader grew up at 1800 Hollygrove in the city’s 17th Ward, and he’s surely enough of an icon to get honored for spreading unique New Orleans flavor all over the rap landscape. New name: Lil Wayne Lane RZA – In a perfect world, every member of The Wu-Tang Clan would have their own street. Yet as the group’s leader, RZA gets first pick. In his memoirs, Tao of Wu, the Clan leader wrote about growing up in Staten Island’s Stapleton Projects and we think the borough’s Targee Street has his name all over it. Also, yes, RZA did live with Ghostface Killah for awhile, but Ghostface Avenue might be a little intimidating for the Department of Transportation. New name: RZA Road Nate Dogg – In a Long Beach walking tour with Vice Magazine , Nate Dogg once talked about how his teen residence at 2022 Lime Avenue was where he really started focusing on music. “A preacher lived next door, and a killer on the other side,” he explained. Well, that sounds like the exact combination that Nate explored throughout his storied career. If anything, hip-hop’s top crooner deserves a little pavement in his name. New name: Nate Dogg Street UGK – Before linking up with Pimp C to form the gold standard of Texas hip-hop duo UGK, Bun B spent his formative years in Port Arthur, TX. Talk to locals, and it seems that any street in the town could be named after the duo, yet we’ll go with San Antonio Street — home to the biggest UGK mural and a fitting tribute to the trillest underground kings. New name: UGK Way What other hip-hop artists do you think deserve their own street? Let us know below! As nice as this is he’s sure to have at least some trouble when he DOES actually apply, based on how they’ve treated other rappers. A report that Lil Wayne has been banned from touring the UK and Europe is false, his rep has said. Reports had claimed that Weezy’s British visa was denied due to his criminal record. The 6 Foot, 7 Foot rapper spent eight months in prison last year on weapons charges. But now a spokesperson for the Young Money boss has told our US Team that the star is yet to file a visa application, as no UK dates are confirmed as yet. “No visa was ever filed, nor were there any tour dates announced or tickets sold,” Weezy’s tour rep said. “Lil Wayne is currently headlining his I Am Still Music Tour across the US and Canada with plans to extend the tour through North America this summer. We hope to bring the I Am Still Music Tour to the UK in the latter half of the year.” When Wayne does apply for a UK visa, he is likely to have a battle on his hands as British immigration officials don’t look kindly on criminal convictions. Snoop Dogg was banned from entering the country in 2007 due to drugs and weapons charges and was forced to cancel European tour dates. However, the ban was eventually overturned and he performed at last year’s Glastonbury Festival. All joking aside we hope Wayne gets his visa so that the good “folks” (see, potential baby momma’s) across the pond get a chance to experience Weezy F. Baby in all his felonious splendor…pause. Weezy wants us to believe he’s happy to be sober by force. He really does. MTV News caught up with Weezy backstage on the kickoff of his “I Am Still Music” tour in Providence, Rhode Island and the New Orleans native addressed questions about his new sober path and how much of a change it is from his wilder days performing under the influence. “Yeah it’s a big difference. I almost jumped in the crowd, “said a relaxed Wayne to our own Sway. “I’m like I’m sober, I’m sweating. I’m tasting my sweat. My sweat taste different. My sweat used to taste like weed. But now it’s just, I’m like I don’t know what it is.” Weezy went on to add, “I’m out there, my eyes big, my eyes all wide. I had threw my glasses, I don’t even need these. I could see everything right now. But yeah man, it’s a great feeling.” Your vision is improved and your sweat tastes different Wayne? Sounds to us like he’s three hours away from a relapse. Source
