Rush Limbaugh Fooled by Wikipedia [Hypocrisy]

“Everybody in the world knows you don’t believe anything on Wikipedia,” Rush Limbaugh told his listeners last year. So, uh, it must be embarrassing for him that he just used Wikipedia as a source—and got his facts wrong. More

NBC Prefers to Put Limbaugh Rather Than Their Own Ed Schultz on the Chauvinist Pig Seat

On his national radio show Tuesday, Ed Schultz took a decidedly un-liberal view on the controversy over provocatively dressed Mexican sportscaster Ines Sainz being sexually harassed by players in the New York Jets locker room. Yeah, she’s going through jock strap heaven. She’s in the locker room! (Laughs) There’s been sexist comments in locker rooms since the day they started having sports! What does she expect?! But when Schultz’s own network, NBC, went looking for a soundbite for the “caveman” point of view on Wednesday’s Today, they turned to Rush Limbaugh for scolding instead. Matt Lauer singled out Limbaugh as the sexist pig: “Everyone from Rush Limbaugh to late-night comedians are weighing in. And much of the attention is on what Ines Sainz wears instead of the football player’s behavior. And is that fair? Does it matter what she had on? We’re going to have more on that just ahead.” When they began the story, NBC’s Peter Alexander put NFL running back Clinton Portis alongside Limbaugh in the insensitive camp: ALEXANDER: But another player, Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins, may have revealed some of that locker room mentality, making inflammatory comments on a sports radio show Tuesday. PORTIS: You put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her. You know, somebody got to spark her interest or she’s going to want somebody. ALEXANDER: Portis later apologized. And on his radio program, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had a brief controversial stint as an NFL commentator, addressed the topic, too. RUSH LIMBAUGH: She knows that she has an asset, depending on that part of the country you’re from, boobylicious, bootylicous, whatever. She’s got it. She’s making no attempt to downplay it or hide it. None whatsoever. ALEXANDER: Sainz says what she wears is part of her on-air image. Both she and her network post provocative pictures of her on their Web sites. The 32-year-old is a celebrity back in Mexico where many female reporters dress far less conservatively than their American counterparts. It should be said that when Meredith Vieira and three female pundits began discussing Sainz (complete with lots of seductive Sainz photos), they verged on agreeing with Limbaugh that Sainz was clearly playing up her sexiness as part of her TV persona. Clearly, they agreed, Mexican media culture has a little more machismo behind it than America’s. But Limbaugh, not Schultz, still became NBC’s icon of insensitivity.

Rush Limbaugh Never Let On He Went to School With Pastor Jones

From Politics Daily… Rush Limbaugh Never Let On He Went to School With Pastor Jones As you may have heard, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh and Terry Jones (you know, the Gainesville, Fla., pastor who threatened to burn Korans on 9/11) graduated from the same high school in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in 1969. On Friday, Pastor Jones was all over morning TV and continued to go back and forth on whether he would be burning any Korans on the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Interestingly, Limbaugh referenced the Pastor Jones story on two recent occasions. But according to transcripts, he never disclosed their shared past. Instead, Limbaugh referred to him simply as “the preacher,” “the guy,” or “the Gainesville pastor.” On Sept. 8, Limbaugh asked listeners of his popular radio show: “By the way, has the ACLU weighed in yet on the Gainesville pastor who wants to burn the Koran? Why not? I mean, if the ACLU would be consistent they'd move in there and defend this Gainesville pastor's right to burn the Koran.” Rush Limbaugh; Terry JonesThe next day, Limbaugh responded to a caller's question about whether Jones might be talked out of burning the Korans, saying: “Well, we did have [Robert] Gibbs say in the White House press briefing they're thinking about calling the preacher. I don't know what they want to do. Maybe try to talk the preacher into not doing this.” That same day, Limbaugh also mocked the media's coverage of the story (which he deemed too insignificant to garner this much attention) saying: “We're being manipulated by this poor little guy down there, this church, burning the Koran. That's silly. It's not worth the energy everybody's expending over it. How many people go to this guy's church, 50? Thirty? And here's Obama weighing in on it.” But what he did not do, at least, according to transcripts, is say, “You know, I went to high school with Terry.” To be sure, it would be wrong to make too much of this shared past. After all, you can't pick your high school classmates — and neither can Limbaugh. And as Thomas Lifson, editor of American Thinker, a site Limbaugh frequently references, noted, “For the record, Rush does not support the Koran burning, and thinks the whole incident is a distraction. But that won't stop lefties from trying to slime him with this random connection.” Lifson is, of course, correct. Limbaugh is a lightning rod, and his connection to this controversial story, regardless of how peripheral it is, will surely to fuel interest. Last night, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann Re-Tweeted this: ” 'Rev.' Terry Jones was classmate of none other than Rush Limbaugh (Cape Central class of '69). Coincidence?” On the other hand, isn't it a bit odd that Limbaugh would discuss this story on his nationally syndicated radio show and yet not at least disclose that they went to school together? This wouldn't have been an indictment. He could have said, “Folks, I went to school with this guy, and he wasn't this crazy back then.” Of course, it's possible that Limbaugh honestly didn't realize this was the same Terry Jones, but that's unlikely. Cape Girardeau, like many Midwestern towns, is a small, tight-knit community. The Limbaughs are like royalty there, and Rush's brother David still practices law there. More likely, Limbaugh chose to simply not disclose the background, hoping it would go unnoticed. There's nothing unethical about that, in my estimation, but it is, at least, weirdly secretive. I guess we will have to listen to his show today to find out more. . . Filed Under: Matt Lewis and the News added by: EthicalVegan

Obama Campaign Manager: Limbaugh, Beck and Palin a Problem for GOP

Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign manager on Sunday said Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sarah Palin are currently the leaders of the Republican Party, and this represents a long-term problem for the GOP. Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Plouffe was asked about a number of questions facing the nation as well as the President he helped get elected. Apparently feeling the need to do some conservative bashing, host Gregory asked Plouffe about a section from his book “Audacity to Win” dealing with Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin. This set the Obama adviser up nicely to go after targets liberals just love to hate (video follows with transcript and commentary):  DAVID GREGORY, HOST: Finally, a quote from your book, handicapping the Republican field, this is what you write in the new part of “Audacity to Win.” “This is the Republican Party of 2010, and I think it will be the Republican Party for a long time. It is hard to see how a Republican gets the presidential nomination without winning the plurality of the Palin-Limbaugh-Beck base of the Republican Party. Without a drastic change in orientation, they will probably nominate someone a good bit out of the mainstream.” Who do you have in mind? Who do you think is the most formidable Republican likely to challenge President Obama? DAVID PLOUFFE: Oh, I have no idea. I mean, this time four years ago there was very few of us talking about Barack Obama running for president, including me. So I think some of the people that we think are going to run may not run. There’ll be other people who’ll run. We’ll see. I wish I could just sit back with a tub of popcorn and, and enjoy it because I think it’s going to be quite an adventure. MR. GREGORY: But who is the leader of the Republican Party, would you say? MR. PLOUFFE: I think the–I think right now–and this is a problem for them long term–I do think that Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, they are the leaders of the party. And you see whenever–I was struck by–Senator Coburn from Oklahoma, I think, was at a town hall meeting and said, “I don’t agree with anything the Democrats are doing, and I don’t agree with Speaker Pelosi, but she’s a nice person,” and got attacked for that. There, there is an intolerance in that party and an extremism that I think is where the real energy is. And so I think, as you see in ’11 and ’12, as that presidential primary, those are the people that are going to come out to vote. So I think that’s where the real energy is, and I think particularly in, in elections where more people vote, in presidential elections where you have a lot more younger people, minorities, independent voters who skew a little bit more moderate, that’s going to be a big problem. So we’ll just have to wait and see. But let’s get this–through this election first, and then we’ll be right on to the next one. It truly is fascinating the left and their media minions continue to bash Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin. After all, with the possible exceptions of Obama and the Clintons, there aren’t any other liberal political figures in this nation that come close to the popularity and visibility of these three conservatives. As such, suggesting that they represent a problem for Republicans is like saying ground beef and potatoes are bad for McDonalds. Regardless, Gregory just couldn’t resist giving his guest the opportunity to attack three of the nation’s most well-known conservatives. As the jingle goes, “If it’s Sunday…”

Michael J. Fox to Make Rush Limbaugh’s Fantasy a Reality on the Good Wife

Remember back in 2006 when Rush Limbaugh came under fire for imitating the tremors that afflicted Michael J. Fox during a televised political ad for stem cell research, suggesting that Fox had exaggerated his Parkinson’s Disease symptoms for show? Well, now it looks like Fox will be engaging in his own game of Rush Limbaugh role-play, and it could even win him an Emmy.

Daily Kos F-Bombs Rush Limbaugh With Profane Rants, Blames Him for Tea Party’s ‘Oxygen-Starved Brains’

Here’s another item for Bill Press and his ridiculous conceit that left-wingers are so much more civil than the “toxic talk” being emitted on right-wing radio. The Daily Kos blog now features a vicious, profanity-polluted blog post by “Brainspank” attacking Rush Limbaugh with the less-than-charming title the “Human S—smear.” He attacks Limbaugh for spreading an idiocy infection to “oxygen-starved brains” in the Tea Party:  If you listen to this guy and you believe a single word he says, you’re an idiot.  A lost cause.  I’m not talking to you and I’m not writing this for your benefit.  You are proof of the 1/4 paradigm.  Common sense and logic are lost on you.  The 1/4 paradigm are those that still supported Nixon after he was forced to resign.   The 25% percent who still believed in the idiot Dumbya when he left office and the rest of us in a s–tstorm.  You people are incurably stupid.  You still think Jesus Christ will be here to save you personally before you die.  I’m not talking to you.  As far as I’m concerned, you people are worthless human stains who’s only potential contribution to anything at all would be polluting the gene pool. And you do.  You reproduce without thought and it really worries me.  A whole ‘nother round headed generation of thick tongued, uneducated, bible thumping backward ass morons. This is all been great fun.  I’d debate the slow eyed prick bastard any day of the week.  Seriously, at a moments notice I’d take him on, and if were allowed to talk, I’d destroy him.  I would wipe the airwaves with him and I’m by no means an exception.  Just about any one of the 95% percent of Americans that don’t listen to him could acquit themselves quite nicely if given the opportunity.  We all know that’s not going to happen; callers with an opposing point of view on the “EIB” network are about as common as OxyContin addicts in the mesozoic era. But the point is this.  He’s dangerous.  Because of him and egregious a–holes of his ilk, we have a bunch of mouth breathing idiots walking around calling themselves the Tea Party.  We have Sharron Angle and Rand Paul and a growing number of oxygen starved brains that are willing to resort to violence because of an ideology that they haven’t the capacity to even grasp. “Brainspank” wrapped it up by hoping that Limbaugh and his dittoheads would die like crackheads:  They are the mentally handicapped.  Unable or unwilling to think for themselves and all too inclined to let a semi clever reptile do what they honor as the intellectual heavy lifting.  They will listen and follow and worship, no matter what. Let him have his little universe.  What would America be like with a blackout of all things S—smear?  Think about it.  A much better place.  F— this piece of s—.  Shut him down and shut him out.  Pay no attention.  Keep moving.  Nothing to see here. Crackheads will be crackheads and will sooner or later overdose on crack and there is not a thing we can do about it. [Hat tip: Whistling Straights]

Four US States Now Get More Than 10% of Electricity From Wind Power: Report

Rush Limbaugh: Electric Cars are Overpriced AIDS Ribbons

Photo via CSMonitor Politico reports that Rush Limbaugh spent a huge chunk of yesterday’s radio broadcast lambasting the Chevy Volt and the tax credits supporting them. Through the course of his ranting, it became clear — as it so often does — that Limbaugh has no idea what he’s talking about. In it, he asserted that “nobody wants” electric cars, and that they amount to nothing more than overpriced AIDS rib… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Rush Limbaugh Calls George Stienbrenner a "CRACKER" That Fired Whites & Made Blacks Rich..

Rush Limbaugh calls George Steinbrenner a 'cracker,' says icon 'fired a bunch of white guys' Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2010/07/13/2010-07-13_rush_limbaugh_cal… As New Yorkers mourn the loss of Yankee icon George Steinbrenner, right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh offered his own inflammatory version of a eulogy. “That cracker made a lot of African American millionaires,” Limbaugh bellowed on his morning show Tuesday. “And at the same time he fired a bunch of white guys.” In the clip, posted by Media Matters for America, Limbaugh offers his rambling thoughts on the passing of the New York legend, saying “What a man he was. What a feature and a character he was in major league baseball.” Limbaugh's rant might be the pundit's colorful way of saying goodbye to New York. He just sold his Upper East Side condo for a cool $11.5 million. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2010/07/13/2010-07-13_rush_limbaugh_cal… added by: keithponder

Keith Olbermann Cherry Picks Rush Limbaugh to Make Him Look Racist

The lengths Keith Olbermann will go to attack his adversaries knows no bounds. On Tuesday, he selectively edited and cherry picked from a Rush Limbaugh radio transcript in order to make the talk show personality look racist. Most disgracefully, the “Countdown” host completely avoided telling his few viewers that Limbaugh was referring to truly disgusting statements the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Cynthia Tucker made on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday. With total disregard for the truth or any sense of journalistic integrity, here’s what Olbermann said during his “Worst Person in the World” segment Tuesday (h/t Meredith Jessup ): KEITH OLBERMANN, HOST: Speaking of which, there‘s tonight’s hands down winner, Boss Limbaugh. These quotes speak for themselves and for a diseased and failing mind. “If Obama weren’t black, he’d be a tour guide in Honolulu or he‘d be teaching Saul Alinsky Constitutional law or lecturing on it in Chicago,” said the college dropout, Rush Limbaugh. “He wouldn’t have been voted president if he weren‘t black. Somebody asked me over the-oh, I need to remember. Somebody asked me over the weekend, why does somebody earn a lot of money, have a lot of money. I said it‘s because he’s black.” This the guy who once said the media was conspiring to make Donovan McNabb of the Eagles to be a better quarterback than he actually was because he was black. “It,” Limbaugh said, “was Oprah,” said the guy who doesn‘t have half Oprah Winfrey’s talent, or income. “No, it can’t be,” he continued. “Yes, it is. There’s a lot of guilt out there. To show we’re not racist, we‘ll make this person wealthy and big and famous and so forth.” Stop the tape. Actually, that’s NOT what Limbaugh said. Here’s the real version from RushLimbaugh.com: RUSH LIMBAUGH, HOST: Cynthia Tucker, ABC’s This Week, Sunday, roundtable, they discussed Michael Steele. And, by the way, this woman is the editorial director of the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation, and she has been for a long, long time. “Cynthia you once called Michael Steele an affirmative action hire gone bad.” By the way, she can say this because she’s African-American. Here’s what she said. CYNTHIA TUCKER, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION: Michael Steele is a self-aggrandizing gaffe-prone incompetent who would have been fired a long time ago were he not black. Of course the irony is that he never would have been voted in as chairman of the Republican Party were he not black. LIMBAUGH: Same with Obama. TUCKER: It is very ironic since the Republican — LIMBAUGH: Stop the tape a second. That’s exactly the same thing you could say about Obama. He wouldn’t have been voted president if he weren’t black. Somebody asked me over the weekend why does somebody earn a lot of money have a lot of money, because she’s black. It was Oprah. No, it can’t be. Yes, it is. There’s a lot of guilt out there, show we’re not racists, we’ll make this person wealthy and big and famous and so forth. The Chicago Sun-Times today has this story, it’s amazing, “How did we get conned, how did we get fooled? My God we’ve elected an empty suit. We elected somebody who had no experience, no idea what he was doing, the empty suit cost $5,000.” I thought my God, they finally woke up, they’re talking about Obama, but no, they’re talking about Blago. They’re asking themselves in Chicago how they got conned by Blagojevich! And you read this, and I will share it with you as the program unfolds, it could be written about Obama. So Cynthia Tucker says, yeah, he wouldn’t be hired by the GOP if he weren’t black. BREAK TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Washington awaits my fatwa on Michael Steele. Washington is paralyzed today until I issue my findings on this. The first thing I have to say about this: Cynthia Tucker said Steele would only have the gig if he was black. If Obama weren’t black he’d be a tour guide in Honolulu or he’d be teaching Saul Alinsky constitutional law or lecturing on it in Chicago, and if somebody’s “entitled to a couple of gaffes,” why do we still have Senator Bite Me running around as Vice President Bite Me, who is a walking gaffe every time he opens his mouth and he’s not even black! So what’s the Democrats’ excuse for having Joe Bite Me around as vice president? As such, Limbaugh was commenting about what Tucker said on “This Week” two days earlier. For those that missed it, here it is:  JAKE TAPPER, HOST: Cynthia, you once called, let me underline “You” once called Michael Steele an affirmative action hire gone bad. What’s your take on this? CYNTHIA TUCKER, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION: Well, Michael Steele is a self-aggrandizing, gaffe-prone incompetent who would have been fired a long time ago were he not black. Of course, the irony is that he never would have been voted in as Chairman of the Republican Party were he not black. Let’s remember how the Party wound up with Michael Steele. In November 2008, the Party was devastated that the Democrats had elected the nation’s first black president while the Republican Party was stuck with being seen as largely the party of aging white people, with good reason. A party that was hostile to people of color, especially blacks and Latinos. So the Party needed a new face, preferably a face of color, and they didn’t have very many officials to choose from. So, they came up with Michael Steele. And it is very ironic since the Republicans have been so critical of affirmative action, to watch them stuck with their affirmative action hire that they dare not get rid of because that would generate even more controversy.  Not surprisingly, Olbermann NEVER told his audience this:  OLBERMANN: There it is. See, the United States is tilted in favor of black people. That‘s the premise. We have made it so easy that human beings inferior to the great Rush Limbaugh, the fired by ESPN one month into his dream job, Rush Limbaugh-inferior creatures like Obama and Oprah Winfrey have been made wealthy and big and famous and so forth. They have not earned it. They aren‘t actually talented. They haven‘t actually done the job. Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama and presumably every other black person in this country has not succeed despite the fact that they‘re black, when this country is still filled with racists like this homunculus Limbaugh. They‘ve succeeded because they‘re black, and only because they‘re black. Well, you heard it. It‘s naked, ugly racism. It‘s the distillation of Rush Limbaugh‘s view of our country. The only other thing I can say is, Oprah, please, crush this schmuck, huh? Rush Limbaugh, overt racist, today‘s worst person in the world.   Also not surprisingly, the shills at Huffington Post on Wednesday reported Olbermann’s claim word for word without checking to see if he had accurately quoted the target of his disaffection. Maybe the fact-check-loving Arianna should get her staff to fact-check Olbermann’s screeds before they parrot them – or would that be too much journalism for Ms. Huffington?  As for Olbermann, the idea that MSNBC tolerates this kind of misreporting should be offensive to Americans on both sides of the aisle. Sadly, it seems unlikely to stop, doesn’t it?
