Bill Gothard: Male Plaintiffs Come Forward in Sexual Assault Case Against Duggars’ Minister

Back in March of 2014, Institute for Basic Life Principles founder  Bill Gothard resigned in disgrace amidst allegations that he had sexually abused dozens of young women, many of them former employees. In October, five of those alleged victims filed a lawsuit against Gothard  in an Illinois civil court. To the surprise of many, Gothard has stood his ground and refused to settle out of court. Even after 10 more victims came forward  last month, Gothard continued to vaguely admit to some sort of impropriety, but maintained that he was not guilty of any criminal offense. Earlier today, Radar Online delivered another crushing blow to the reputation of the man who’s best known as the former minister of the Duggar family, reporting that three young men have come forward claiming they were repeatedly sexually molested by Gothard beginning when they were as young as 13. With the alleged victim total at 18, the plaintiff’s attorney and many in the media are comparing Gothard’s scandal to that of former TV legend Bill Cosby. Both men admit to behaving inappropriately, but insist that they have not done anything that should necessitate the involvement of the law. “I was very wrong in holding hands, giving hugs and touching their hair or feet,” Gothard said in a recent statement. “I was also wrong in making statements that caused emotional turmoil and confusion. My guilty is compounded by my hypocrisy of requiring standards for others but not following them myself.” Thus far, the Duggar family has refused to comment publicly on the matter. Earlier today, Megyn Kelly offered a preview of her interview with Jill and Jessa Duggar that’s set to air tonight on Fox News. Speaking with Extra, Kelly revealed that Jill and Jessa have forgiven Josh Duggar for molesting them several times when they were 11 and 9, respectively. Now, further information about the Duggar girls’ interview has been released, and the new excerpts suggest that Jill and Jessa have not only forgiven their older brother, they’ve also started offering justifications for his actions. Asked about the hypocrisy of a man who’s admitted to incestuous sex crimes condemning homosexuality as destructive to families, Jessa defended her brother’s right to talk out of both sides of his mouth: “It’s right to say ‘here’s what I believe, here’s my values,’ even if you’ve made stupid mistakes or failures,” Jessa says in the interview. “If you’ve had failures in your past it doesn’t mean you can’t be changed. I think that’s where, I think the real issue is people are making this sound like it happened yesterday.” The girls also addressed the steps their parents took to try and prevent further abuse from taking place, and the rumors that father Jim Bob designed the Duggar house to keep Josh away from the girls . “My parents said, ‘OK, we’re not going to do this hide and seek thing where two people go off and hide together,’” Jill says when asked about the precautions. “Locks on the doors. You know, everybody’s in bed — girls in the girls’ room, boys in the boys’ room.” A segment that aired on Wednesday night showed the girls confirming that they were molested by Josh and complaining of being victimized by the media. Rihanna is on Vacation…and for some reason she’s doing silly instagram photoshoots with her friend that she carts around with her. I forget her name, but she’s everywhere Rihanna goes, I assume on payroll, acting as her assistant, who gets shit on by her, but who east the shit, because scat is popular now, in style now, and more importantly, it comes with all the perks of travelling the world with Rihanna for free… I am pretty disappointed, that during a nude pic scandal, Rihanna wouldn’t step up her game and make her bikini shoot for instagram – a little more spread asshole. A book about the 2008 Obama campaign, ‘Game Change’ written by Time Magazine’s Mark Halperin and New York magazine’s John Heilemann is creating a proverbial political storm in Washington, D.C. The book airs the dirty-laundry of many in Obama’s inner political circles during his campaign for the Presidency. Among the revelations in the book (and there are many) is that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was anxious for Obama to run for president because he’s ‘light-skinned’ and ‘doesn’t have a Negro dialect unless he wants to’.
