Schultz Guest: Beck & Koch Brothers Plotting To Provoke Race Riots

I was going to say the left has now officially hit rock bottom.  But it’s still a long way to Election Day for the desperate Dems . . . On this evening’s Ed Show, trial-lawyer guest Mike Papantonio accused Glenn Beck and the Koch brothers of consciously plotting, via Beck’s DC rally, to provoke race riots. In Papantonio’s fevered mind, the Beck-Koch axis is attempting to recreate the race riots of 1968 . . MIKE PAPANTONIO:  There’s no difference. If you even look at the money that’s behind the tea-bagger movement, it’s the same money that was behind the Richard Nixon movement, the fear movement, that took place back then. ED SCHULTZ: So you would say, and I don’t want to put words in your mouth, is this about self-promotion for the guy who’s organizing this, or is it really about restoring honor? PAPANTONIO:   Well it has nothing about restoring honor. It’s a bunch of inheritance–here, if you follow the money, Ed, it’s about inheritance babies, the Koch brothers, inheritance babies, who don’t want to pay taxes, they want conservatives in power. The way you get conservatives in power is to scare the hell out of Americans.  I’ll tell you what Glenn Beck is hoping. He’s hoping that two blocks away from the Lincoln Memorial, that African-Americans are going to be so angry about what he’s done on that important day, when Martin–Martin Luther King stood up and gave the most important speech of his career.  And here you have this buffoon, this demagogue, that’s going to be preaching hate.  What does that do to the African-Americans that are two blocks away, listening to this hate speech? Any way you dress it up, Sarah Palin can’t help herself. Glenn Beck can’t help himself. But you know what? They’re not the money behind all this.  The money behind this are the Koch brothers who put $100 million into spreading hate in this country.  And they want the same divisiveness, they the same ugliness that we saw in the Watts riots to emerge , so the next conservative movement can come into power.  It’s the same blueprint, Ed. I promise you: it’s the same blueprint. Mike seems awfully interested in “money,” mentioning it four times in his rant. Not surprising from a trial-lawyer promoting big class action lawsuits stemming from the BP spill.  As for the “self-promotion” that Schultz decries,  Papantonio’s incessant Ed Show appearances are little less than infomercials for his legal services.   All of that didn’t stop Papantonio from slurring Beck, the Koch brothers, and by extension the Tea Party movement [that he twice called “tea-baggers”] as attempting to provoke race riots. This is what the Dems, and their backers in the trial bar, have been reduced to, facing electoral disaster down the line. Note: the Koch brothers, libertarian-oriented conservatives, have become a favorite whipping boy of the left.  Have a look at P.J. Gladnick’s piece for a description of the way The New Yorker slimed them.

MLK Sculptor also Painted Glenn Beck in Manure

A lot of liberals think Glenn Beck is full of, well, manure, but one artist Michael Murphy has taken it further than most. He did a picture of Beck using manure instead of paint. And now, anti-Beck demonstrators have hired Murphy to create a sculpture … honoring Martin Luther King Jr. The Washington Post  reported  Aug. 17 that Murphy will unveil “The People’s Memorial to King” in Washington, D.C., on Aug 28, the anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Conservative television and radio host Glenn Beck is scheduled to host a rally that day at the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his speech in 1963. The sculpture unveiling is part of a counter-demonstration called “Celebrate the Dream,” which the Post described as “a grass-roots network of artists, community organizers and social activists.” But the Post’s report ignored an intriguing link between the conservative activist and liberal artist: Murphy’s 2009 portrait of Beck, which used “bull manure” as paint. Politico  reported  on Murphy’s painting in September 2009. On his  website , Murphy described the painting as “bull manure and pigment on canvas.” “Murphy, who specializes in large-scale public art installations, said his vision was to create a sculpture that would convey the ideal of ‘unification and bringing people together,'” the Post said of the King sculpture. “Murphy describes the piece as a ‘directional’ sculpture ‘that has four specific vantage points. … If you were to stray from the ideal point of view, the message gets lost,’ Murphy said.” Like this article? Glenn Beck Told He Can’t Lead Audience In Prayer At Kennedy Center

Conservative talk radio host Glenn Beck was told by officials at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts that he can’t lead his audience in prayer at his August 27 Divine Destiny event. Beck has rented out the facility the night before his “Restoring Honor” celebration at the Lincoln Memorial for “an eye-opening evening…that will help heal your soul.” As Beck relayed to his radio audience Monday, his religious plans during the festivities were a serious point of contention before the powers that be came to their senses (video follows with transcript and commentary): GLENN BECK: They have told people on the steps of the Supreme Court that they cannot pray there. They have told students on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial they can’t sing the National Anthem there. And last week I was told by the Kennedy Center that we could not pray there. We were told by the Kennedy Center in no uncertain terms that we could hold our event there, sure we had a contract. But they weren’t told that we were going to have an opening prayer. The program is has the word divine in it, our divine destiny. We couldn’t pray at the Kennedy Center. So my attorneys came to me and said, Glenn, are you willing to compromise on it? And I said, I sure am. You tell them that not only will I do an opening prayer, I’ll do a closing prayer, and the entire program may be a prayer. In fact, take this down. It is a night of prayer. You’ll see if you are lucky enough to get a ticket to the Kennedy Center, and they are not for sale. You will see in the program how I described it. I described it that way. So they could print that in their program at the Kennedy Center which they insisted on having after they told us we couldn’t pray. I said, let me dictate this one. Friday night I was supposed to have a meeting today at 1:00 with their attorneys and I had already talked to my attorneys. Zero compromise. We asked them, where is that in your I didn’t see that in your rules and regulations. “It’s not written down.” No prayer at a federally funded building. Friday night I think they got a hold of Common Sense. They alerted me Friday night that they will allow prayer to happen on the stage of the Kennedy Center. I told them, thank you so much for your graciousness. I appreciate the scrap from the table. America, our religion and our faith is under attack and whether people care to realize it or not, it is. Ironically as our friends at The Right Scoop noted , prayer isn’t allowed in government buildings, but the current President “can still have a Ramadan dinner at the White House.” That said, Beck informed his readers of this event Wednesday: Glenn Beck’s Divine Destiny is an eye-opening evening at the historic Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C that will help heal your soul. Guided by uplifting music, nationally-known religious figures from all faiths will unite to deliver messages reminiscent to those given during the struggles of America’s earliest days. The event will leave you with a renewed determination to look past the partisan differences and petty problems that fill our airwaves and instead focus our shared values, principles and strong belief that faith can play an essential role in reuniting the country.  Those interested can read more about Restoring Honor here .

BECK, NOT JUST GREEDY WITH A MESSIAH COMPLEX, BUT A TAD RACIST TOO, ALL IN ONE STORY.

Apparently despite accepting money for, and promoting a gathering at the lincoln memorial on Martin Luther King day, Beck has yet to secure the required permits. Can you really go on the public airwaves and solicite funds like this? His “plan” was to gather his legions at the Lincoln monument, on Martin Luther King day. Glenn is taking donations (greedy) for his plan (messiah complex) that happens to be occuring at the site of the “i have a dream speech” on Martin Luther King day,(RACIST)despite not securing the basic requirments to facilitate it(corrupt). added by: freecrack

Public School Students Led to Chant ‘I Am an Obama Scholar!’

A speaker leads students in a creepy chant of “I am an Obama Scholar!” at Lincoln Bassett Middle School in New Haven, Connecticut. The chant is part of an educational program called the “Obama Initiative.” (h/t Cassy Fiano ; video below fold):

9 Hyped Film Projects That Are Never. Gonna. Happen.

I chuckled earlier when I read about the flickering flame of hope kept alive by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, who insists that the property could be resurrected as a feature film on a semi-regular basis. He’s not the only one who regularly flogs a filmic pipe dream, though. Here are 9 projects in perpetual development that film bloggers love to write about, but will probably never get a greenlight:

Abe Lincoln set to emancipate teeth from mouth in new vampire action flick.

While Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Tony Kushner have spent years trying to frame an epic film about President Lincoln and his agonizing decision to prolong the war and crush the South because it was the only way to abolish slavery, directors Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov have found the one angle on the Lincoln story that Spielberg must have missed: Abe's lifelong mission to kill vampires. Debate on procedural motion on health bill begins

WASHINGTON (AP) — A crucial first Senate vote on President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in a rare Saturday night session looms as a test of Democratic unity and the president's prestige. Democratic leaders are optimistic of success, but they need every Democrat and both independents to vote ''yes,'' and two moderates remained uncommitted ahead of the roll call, which is expected around 8 p.m. The vote will determine whether debate can go forward on Majority Leader Harry Reid's 2,074-page bill to dramatically remake the U.S
