Unemployable on purpose??? Ethan Westbrooks Reveals Face Tattoo Was Decision To Drive Him To NFL One rookie Rams footballer was so fed up with his minimum wage job, that he ran and got a face tattoo to make sure he’d never be “stuck” earning a check “the normal way” again. So…was simply aiming to be an excellent ball player and solidifying his spot just not an option? Via BusinessInsider : St. Louis Rams rookie defense lineman Ethan Westbrooks made the final 53-man roster on Saturday, beating out Michael Sam for one of the team’s final spots. Westbrooks has a remarkable story of his own. In 2011 he was working at a Toys “R” Us and playing for Sacramento City College. Three years later, he’s in the NFL. According to Westbrooks, an unlikely motivational tool — a face tattoo — is part of the reason for his success. Westbrooks told ESPN’s Nick Wagoner that he got a tattoo below his eye in 2011 because he never wanted to get a normal job again. Making it in the NFL would be the only way to prevent him from becoming “a guy that has a tattoo on his face looking for another job.” From ESPN: The story goes that Westbrooks was working at a Toys ‘R’ Us in Sacramento while playing football and going to school at Sacramento City Junior College. He didn’t like the job and decided when he quit that he had no intention of working a normal job again. So he went searching for a way to push himself to attain that goal. Somehow, he decided there was no better way to do that than to have a reminder staring him in the face every time he looked in the mirror. ‘I was just like I might as well go ahead and get it on the face because if nothing else, it will help motivate me to either be a guy that has a tattoo on his face looking for another job or hopefully I make it in the NFL and don’t have to work too hard to do something (else),’ Westbrooks said. ‘I don’t feel it’s a bad thing now. I don’t regret it. It speaks for itself.’ It worked. Westbrooks’ incredible performance in training camp and the preseason is widely regarded as the reason Sam was cut. The Rams had a crowded group of players along the defensive line to begin with, and Westbrooks’ emergence pushed out Sam. The tattoo reads, “Laugh now, cry later:” Oh…and such an original tattoo choice at that. SMH. Well whatever works for him. We certainly wish him much luck (and FAR better decision-making skills) in the league!

Dang… Viacom is going for Jigga’s jugular — pushing that divorce agenda ! MTV Wants Beyoncé To Open Video Music Awards With Solo Performance Looks like Beyoncé will be without hubby Hov in a very public way before this summer is over… According to Confidenti@l reports: MTV is scrambling behind the scenes to get Beyoncé — without hubby Jay Z — to open this year’s Video Music Awards with a blowout performance at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Aug. 24, Confidenti@l has exclusively learned. Insiders at a Columbia Records listening event were not hiding the fact that MTV is begging Queen Bey to sing a medley of hits from her “Beyoncé” album, which she released on iTunes last year without any alert or promotion. “Bey is going to be all over the show,” one source tells us. “MTV is still working everything out, but they want her to open the show with a big production, which has still not been announced.” Columbia Records and MTV are now working together to convince Bey to create video promos teasing the possible performance. “It’s still being worked out,” says our source. “Everyone at Columbia is scurrying around to make things happen. But judging by the amount of awards she was nominated for and her past history with the show announcing her pregnancy, it’s a pretty safe bet.” Beyoncé leads the VMA nominees with eight bids, including Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love,” her collaboration with husband Jay Z. Rappers Iggy Azalea and Eminem follow her with seven each. At the 2011 VMAs, Bey famously announced she was pregnant with Blue Ivy by popping open her sequined blazer and rubbing her belly for the crowd while Jay Z and Kanye West high-fived each other. “MTV wants her and they want her solo,” says our insider. That news should please Queen Bey, because a solo performance will help her begin to untangle her career from Jay’s. As Confidenti@l exclusively reported, the duo are heading toward releasing a statement addressing the rumors that have been swirling about what will happen with them when the “On the Run” tour wraps in September. The marriage — a strictly “business relationship,” says a source close to the couple — has been over for a while. Both Jay and Bey have been faking it for their fans, and for the $84 million they expect to collect from the current tour. In other developments, Beyoncé’s estranged father, Matthew Knowles, plans to share his tricks on how he made his daughter famous with Destiny’s Child. He will teach a day-long bootcamp class called The Entertainment Industry: How Do I Get In? at Houston Community College Central. Does it seem like the label and MTV are pushing Bey out the door or is it just us? Do you prefer to see Beyoncé perform alone as opposed to with Jay Z? And smh @ poor babydaddy Matty Knowles, demoted to a footnote at the END of a story about his daughter’s moves. Hit the flip for the latest from Bey’s gram
She is lucky nobody threw a tomato. While in Dallas trying to perform, Joseline Hernandez of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta was booed. Stevie J. ran onto the stage toward the end trying to save the Puerto Rican Princess, but the damage of her weak verses was already done. youtube
