Over 20 people were angle bonded out of jail this weekend with the help of T.I. and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. According to 11alive , those bailed out were first-time nonviolent offenders in DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Rockdale counties. The church said the kind gesture started as a $40,000 local challenge within the New Birth congregation quickly grew into a $120,000 regional movement. Eventually T.I. and Scrapp DeLeon from VH1’s Love and Hip Hop partnered with a local church, helping them exceed their goal. Reportedly, the Bail Out program will continue to assist the development and reform of the beneficiaries, with each scheduled to attend a meeting every week. Some of the money raised has also been put aside to help their children attend college. T.I. was jailed twice in Atlanta: on a federal weapons charge and for violating probation. Scrapp DeLeon was recently released from jail after two years for allegedly trafficking marijuana. Good for them!

With only five episodes remaining in Game of Thrones, one would think the epic drama wouldn’t have time for everyone to basically sit around the campfire and tell stories. But that’s exactly what transpired on Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2. There were no shocking deaths, no huge secrets revealed (to the audience) and really no storyline advancement of any kind. Instead, with the Night King expected to arrive at Winterfell within hours, there was only a look at what nearly all our beloved characters were thinking the evening before their presumed death. For long-time followers of the books and the series, this was likely a welcome, tear-filled hour in which they got to slow down and appreciate the journey/saga of the past several years. For those who tune in wondering whose head will be separated from its body next, this likely felt like a giant waste of time. On which end of the spectrum did you fall? The two major revelations from the installment were both follow-ups to how the Season 8 premiere concludes: Jaime Lanniser stood in front of Dany, whose father he murdered, and Sansa, whose brother he shoved out a window, and pleaded his case. He explained that he was a changed man and Cersei was a liar and he just wanted to help fight for the survival of mankind at this point. Dany was still itching to avenge her dad’s death, until Brienne stood up and delivered an all-time speech about how honorable Jaime acted when he held her as his captive and how she would gladly stand by her side in this fight. This was enough for Sansa to hear and Jaime’s life was spared. This led to one of the most emotional scenes of all-time, as Jaime later knighted his unexpected best friend and most loyal supporter: Jon, meanwhile, chose the worst time ever to tell Dany about his heritage and his true identity. He shocked her with this information mere seconds before the horn blared to alert everyone that the Night King was about to make his violent presence felt. Dany was less taken aback that she’d been banging her nephew and more stunned that Jon ist he rightful heir to the Iron Throne. This ought to make for some awkward pillow talk if both survive the war to come. Elsewhere, though, we weren’t kidding above: Everyone just sat around and talked. Tyrion noted the irony that he and his brother were at Winterfell, essentially fighting for the Starks after trying to have that family wiped out for so many years. Sam reminded the few remaining men of The Wall that he has killed a White Walker and that Gilly and Little Sam would be safe in the crypts while he helped battle the dead. Arya totally had sex with Gendry because she wanted to experience intercourse before she died. Sansa and Dany has a nice talk, bonding over their hatred of Cersei and love for Jon… until the former reminded the latter that she wants to control the North even after Dany is anointed to the Iron Throne. Tormund told a story about how he killed a giant as a boy and then suckled at the teat of the giant’s wife for three months and that’s why he’s so big and strong. No, really, he told this story. Sam gifted Jorah with his family’s sword as a tribute to Jorah’s father — and because it was too heavy for Sam to use in battle. Grey Worm promised to take Missandei to the beach after the major fight was over. And, lastly, Tyrion watched from the top of a castle wall when the White Walkers showed up and the episode cut to black. Were you among those disappointed that no one of significance has died yet? That we just spent an entire hour chatting about feelings and bringing up memories instead of drawing swords and flying around with dragons? Or was this the perfect appetizer before what appears to be the ultimate main course of blood and death next week? The ideal build-up for a battle seven-plus seasons in the making? Becaus the point of Game of Thrones isn’t simply that lots of people die; it’s that lots of people who we’ve grown to know and love die after a legendary voyage, one the viewers have gone through right along with everyone on screen. Death may be inevitable, but this was the rare opportunity for Tyrion, Davos and company to actually stop and appreciate their lives . Because, as teased in the trailer below, there’s no debating it at this point: Winter is absolutely, positively, 100% coming in a few days. And ain’t no way most people are making it out alive. The comedian was slapped with a $25,000 judgment from a 2016 incident in where he allegedly punched a man in the face. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Georgia judge has granted a default judgment in favor of Tyrell Williams against Katt. Williams has also filed docs to start the process of seizing Katt’s assets to collect on the $25k. Back in 2016, Tyrell Williams sued the comedian accusing him of punching him in the face at an after-hours party. Williams claimed following one of Katt’s shows, he attended an after-hours party and began to Snapchat a picture of Katt According to the outlet, Tyrell Williams says Katt Williams snatched his iPhone out his hand and the fists went flying. S tudents from Spelman College showed up and showed out at the annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Championship Tournament in California. According to HBCU Buzz , students from the school won the competition and took a $75,000 institutional grant back to Atlanta. Spelman College Wins 30th Annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC), America’s Premier HBCU Academic Competition https://t.co/UC9mDBNbJX — HBCU Buzz (@HBCUBuzz) April 18, 2019 During the tournament—which is known as the nation’s top HBCU academic competition—students are quizzed on topics that include history, religion, science and culture. The Spelman team—whose players included Ariana Benson , Jessika Agyepong , Naomi Steplight , and Maati McKinney —beat 47 other HBCUs to take home the title. Daniel Bascelli served as the team’s coach. “Winning itself isn’t the only reward. It’s about bringing these students together and watching them represent their school in the best possible way,” Bascelli said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “The spirit at Spelman is really strong. If you talk to the students, the feeling for Spelman, the feeling for HCBCUs and the support that Honda gives them is all a part of the pride that they feel.” Florida A&M University, Jackson State University and Morehouse College rounded out the top four. The competition, which has been in existence for 30 years, was created as an avenue for Honda to make an impact in the lives of students who attend historically Black colleges and universities. “Through HCASC, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate the value of their HBCU experience, represent their schools on a national stage, and connect with like-minded peers,” Steve Morikawa , VP of Corporate Relations and Social Responsibility, American Honda, said in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating the HCASC legacy and the friendships we’ve made over the past 30 years.” Through the competition, Honda has awarded $8 million in grants to HBCUs and 125,000 students have participated. Several companies are making an effort to contribute to the education of HBCU students. Hennessy teamed up with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund for the creation of a graduate fellowship program . Gone are the fur coats, gowns and jewelry that typified the gospel and soul singer’s larger than life persona in recent years for the new film “Amazing Grace.” Instead, the then afro-sporting 29-year-old is stripped back and lets her voice do most of the talking. “This Aretha Franklin is a little bit different,” “Amazing Grace” producer Tirrell Whitley told BOSSIP. “She was just coming out of the 60s Black Power Movement, she’s wearing her afro….The experience of Aretha Franklin at the age of 29 at the peak of her power.” Franklin recorded the live performance in 1972 over two nights in a South Central L.A. church in front of an audience that included her father the Rev. C.L. Franklin, gospel greats Clara Ward and Mother Ward, the Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts. Because the footage was shot out of sync, it sat in a vault for almost 40 years before a film company was able to sync the footage with the audio. Although the movie does have imperfections like out of focus shots, Whitley said that it was Franklin who pulls everything together. “The great thing is that the film had excellence in the making and her voice carries it through,” he said, adding that Franklin gave the film her blessing before she passed away last year aged 76. Whitley said the film is ideal for sororities, churches and other groups to screen. “This film takes you to church and it ministers to you in a unique way,” he said. “Amazing Grace” is now in theaters nationwide.

Pay her like you owe her for all the time that you hoe’d her. According to NYDailyNews Karimah Guion-Pledgure will be awarded a $100,000 settlement from her employer, Multnomah County, after she sued their a$$es for creating a racially hostile and insensitive environment just to appease some anti-Black cop lovers. Back in September of 2017, a probation officer who works in her office put up a big “Blue Lives Matter” flag on the wall. Karimah complained because obviously the flag is meant to mock, demean, insult, and otherwise diminish the “Black Lives Matter” mantra that aims to hold police accountable for all the Black people they often eagerly kill. Karimah says she was harassed as her co-workers argued that there was nothing derogatory about the flag. In response, since the supervisors would not force the man to take the flag down, Karimah put up photos of all the Black people who have died unfairly at the hands of police officers. A co-worker immediately complained but Karimah refused to remove the photos since the white man was not made to take his flag down. When the sign policy was changed to require smaller signage, the “blue lives matter” folks all brought smaller flags, and then left signs on Karimah’s “equity wall” that read “thanks a lot” and “bi*ch”. Real classy. After going on leave for weeks, Karimah decided to file a $420,000 lawsuit and eventually settled for $100,000 this week. Oregon Live reports that no signs at allowed at all in the office now. Karimah won AND got paid to leave. Nothing like the smell of white tears in the morning.
The basketball season may be over for Tristan Thompson. But a new report alleges that the power forward has not stopped scoring in weeks. The Cleveland Cavaliers team member averaged 10.9 points per game over the past 82 games, but Us Weekly now alleges that he may be averaging more sexual liaisons than that per week. That may be a slight exaggeration, we grant you, but the overall point remains: Thompson has allegedly been going hard to the female hole ever since he was kicked to the curb by Khloe Kardashian. “ Tristan has been continuing to go out and has been partying with friends,” a source tells this tabloid, elaborating further as follows: “He’s been hooking up with other girls, and whenever he’s out, he’s had Instagram models … around him.” This doesn’t seem to be much different than the way Thompson acted when he was still with Khloe, of course, but it still seems notable. Thompson, of course, was caught cheating on his then-pregnant girlfriend mere weeks before she gave birth to their daughter last year. He then kissed Khloe’s good friend, Jordyn Woods, on the lips late this past winter, further cementing his reputation as a serial cheater who sucks a lot. Hence why this Us Weekly insider explains that the actions described are not all that surprising when it comes to the father of two. “That’s just the lifestyle that he lives,” the source says. Khloe decided to stick with Thompson after his first round of cheating because she wanted her daughter to have a father around and because she really thought Thompson would change. She even took issue at times when social media trolls slammed her as “weak,” standing up for herself as someone who was actually strong enough to put herself out there again and risk getting hurt. Does she now regret forgiving Tristan’s initial infidelity? Maybe. But she would probably simply say that there are worse traits one can have then trying to see the best in people and trying to give one’s child the most complete family life possible. Khloe and Tristan actually hung out this month in honor of little True turning a year old. By all accounts, Thompson is not an awful father; he does want to be involved in the infant’s life. But he hasn’t offered up any excuse at all for why he kissed Woods several weeks ago , cheating on Kardashian not with some random model… but with someone she has known for years. “He just kissed me,” Woods herself said in an interview with Jada Pinkett Smith. “It was a kiss on the lips. No tongue … no making out.” The Instagram star also clarified that having sex with Thompson was “never a consideration.” Thompson initially Tweeted the lame response of “fake news” when the Woods smooch first went viral. However, he quickly deleted that message and has said nothing in public about the act since. He has tried, though, to publicize his affection for young True. “You deserve all the jewels, baby girl,” the professional athlete told his daughter in an Instagram video taken during last week’s birthday party.
