Johnny Depp Tried to Get Amber Heard Fired From Aquaman?!

Throughout his decades as one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Johnny Depp has been praised for his chameleon-like ability to completely transform himself from one role to the next. Now, for his final act, Depp has apparently decided to morph from beloved screen idol into broke-ass self-saboteur who may or may not be guilty of viciously bullying the ex-wife he allegedly abused. Let’s back it up a bit to examine how Johnny managed to slice and dice his own public image like Edward Scissorhands with a bad case of the shakes from drinking $30,000 worth of wine a month . When Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce , they signed an iron-clad non-disclosure agreement that prevented either of them from speaking about the split publicly. Johnny went and screwed that up by filing a series of lawsuits that required the courts to dredge up all the nasty allegations against him. Most recently, he sued Heard for $50 million for discussing her experiences as an abuse survivor in a recent Washington Post op-ed. His lawyers came out swinging and alleged that Heard tried to cut Depp’s finger off during one particularly nasty fight. Amber’s team fired back with both barrels, leveling allegations both horrific (repeated tales of physical abuse directed at Heard) and hilarious (they claim Depp was so jealous of James Franco that he threw a tantrum for an entire cross-country flight). In addition to his battle against Heard, Depp is still suing his former lawyer Jake Bloom because — get this — Bloom advised Depp to settle with Heard out of court, as a messy court battle would do irreparable damage to his career. Apparently, when you’re rich enough, you can actually sue people for being right. Anyway, that case has also yielded a ton of messy revelations, including an account of Depp attempting to get Heard fired from her role in Aquaman . In her Washington Post piece, Heard claimed that she had been “blacklisted” in Hollywood following her split from Depp: “A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me,” she wrote. “Questions arose as to whether I would be able to keep my role of Mera in the movies “Justice League” and “Aquaman.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, lawyers for Bloom intend to prove that Depp was behind that vicious campaign: “Sources familiar with the deposition requests say [Warner Bros. chairman Kevin] Tsujihara will be asked to testify under oath about whether or not he played a role in “blacklisting” Heard at Warner Bros.,” the outlet reports. “Depp, a star in the studio’s Fantastic Beasts franchise (he plays Grindelwald), is alleged to have personally lobbied Tsujihara to remove the actress from Aquaman and block her from getting other projects.” Yes, Bloom plans to get the former president of Warner Bros. — who was himself disgraced in a recent, Wenistein-esque “casting couch” scandal — to verify that Depp tried to destroy Heard’s career. And because we live in supremely f–ked up times, that might actually do more damage to Depp’s career than the allegations that he’s an abusive monster. You can smack around all the actresses you want, but the moment you start messing with studio exec’s and their precious reputations, you’re going down, pal! Mall Of America Five-Year-Old Pushed By Crazed Sucker Is ‘Showing Signs Of Recovery’ After Plummeting 40 Feet

Source: Antonio RIBEIRO / Getty Boy Pushed By Man In Mall of America Showing Signs Of Recovery Landon Hoffman, 5-year-old victim thrown from a third-floor balcony a week ago at the Mall of America is ‘showing real signs of recovery’ according to his family. An update on the boy’s condition was posted to the GoFundMe campaign set up by his family as he recovers. So far, the campaign has received roughly $900,000 in donations as of Friday afternoon. “We have good news to share with you all on this Good Friday! New test results have been positive, though he remains in intensive care with a long road ahead.” Landen was thrown nearly 40 feet to the ground on April 12, and 24-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda has been charged in the case. DNA Delusion: Ancestry.com Apologizes For Ridiculously Romanticized Slavery Ad After Twitter Outs Their Ahistorical BS

Source: Mario Tama / Getty Nice try! Ancestry.com Apologizes For A Love Ad Involving A White Man And Black Slave Smh. Ancestry.com tried to sugar coat, cherry-on-top slavery, and it didn’t go well at all with the people. According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution , the genealogy database tried to promote their services with a commercial set in 1800s America. In the clip, a White man is depicted asking a Black woman named Abigail to “escape to the north” with him. “Will you leave with me?” the man asks, with a ring in his hand. Then, the ad ends with an on-screen “marriage certificate,” suggesting that the man and woman got married in Canada in 1857. ooooh my god LMAOOO who approved this ancestry commercial??? pic.twitter.com/Isy0k4HTMA — manny (@mannyfidel) April 18, 2019   The clip made rounds on social media this week and automatically, folks became outraged over the clip’s romanticization of slavery. A PhD candidate at Harvard, Clint Smith, tweeted: “ancestry dot com: how can we overly romanticize & create an irresponsible, ahistorical depiction of the relationship between white men & black women during the period of chattel slavery that completely disregards its power dynamics & the trauma of sexual exploitation?” nobody: ancestry dot com: how can we overly romanticize & create an irresponsible, ahistorical depiction of the relationship between white men & black women during the period of chattel slavery that completely disregards its power dynamics & the trauma of sexual exploitation? https://t.co/s5BqnoSg9x — Clint Smith (@ClintSmithIII) April 18, 2019   Activist and organizer Brittany Packnett also tweeted: “I used this service a few years ago. And when I realized I was more than 10% European, I wept. Not from shame for who I am, but from anger from the trauma of how it may have come to be. This commercial spits on the trauma in our veins and the fight of our ancestors, @ ancestry “ I used this service a few years ago. And when I realized I was more than 10% European, I wept. Not from shame for who I am, but from anger from the trauma of how it may have come to be. This commercial spits on the trauma in our veins and the fight of our ancestors, @ancestry https://t.co/KBpqB6XPZg — Brittany Packnett (@MsPackyetti) April 18, 2019   Other historians, reporters, and academics also hopped on social media to call out the company’s “reprehensible” commercial. The site eventually made a public apology on Thursday as backlash peaked: “Ancestry is committed to telling important stories from history,” spokeswoman Gina Spatafore said in a statement. “This ad was intended to represent one of those stories. We very much appreciate the feedback we have received and apologize for any offense that the ad may have caused.” The original video, which was first posted on YouTube has since been removed. The history of Black women facing sexual violence from White men during slavery isn’t some baseless tale either. It’s supported by DNA evidence, according to The New York Times . In a study they covered in 2016, a group of geneticists found in the DNA of 3,726 living African-Americans “marks of slavery’s cruelties, including further evidence that white slave owners routinely fathered children with women held as slaves.” When they examined proportions of European DNA in the population, the scientists also realized that X chromosomes, which are inherited in higher percentages from women, had greater African ancestry than other chromosomes, suggesting that slaveowners were “raping the women they held captive.” So yeah, you can squash the interracial love stories with slaves Ancestry.com. Hit the flip for more commentary on the company’s misstep.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 Photos: Tales From the Crypt

Quite understandably, HBO is playing it close to the vest when it comes to spoilers for the final season of Game of Throne s . As a result of this extreme secrecy, even details like episode titles are being kept under wraps, and fans are forced to fight over crumbs of information like the lowliest peasants in Flea Bottom. So here's what little we know so far about Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2: It'll be longer than the season premiere — clocking in at 58 minutes — but still be considerably shorter than the four feature-length installments to follow. Also, it should provide a nice counterweight to all the pastel cheeriness of the Easter festivities that will precede it — though it might be just as concerned with resurrection from the dead. Oh, and we have the following photos from the episode, generously provided by HBO execs who know we'll drive ourselves mad dissecting them for details. Join us as we do exactly that, won't you? 1. Crypt Keepers Something is going down in the crypts at Winterfell. You can bet whatever scheme is being hatched in Varys’ noggin is way more frightening than all those decaying Stark corpses. 2. Hatching a Plan Jon and Arya are there as well. We guess they got over their little feud about how smart Sansa is. 3. Drinking and Knowing Things Naturally, Tyrion brought a goblet of red to the meeting. It’s stressful always being the most knowledgeable person in the room. 4. Sam’s Concerned Sam Tarly’s got a lot on his mind these days. He has a kid and a baby mama to worry about, an army of the undead is inching closer by the day, and now he’s forced to make nice with the woman who torched his husband and brother. 5. Bran Ruminates And then there’s Bran, doing what he does best — staring creepily into middle-distance and making everyone uneasy about what sort of earth-shattering insight he’s about to reveal. 6. Busted Big Time Speaking of Bran, the guy who put him in that wheelchair is about to be in some serious sh-t. In addition to that fateful shove in S1E1, Kingslayer Jaime Lannister got that name by icing the Khaleesi’s father. View Slideshow
