Teacher in trouble after students don Klan robes

At this moment in history this teacher did this? And in Atlanta? Our kids are doomed. ATLANTA (AP) — A North Georgia teacher is on administrative leave and could lose her job after she allowed four students to don mock Ku Klux Klan outfits for a final project in a high school class Thursday, administrators said. The sight of people in Klan-like outfits upset some black students at the school and led at least one parent to complain. Catherine Ariemma, who teaches the advanced placement course combining U.S. history with film education, could face punishment ranging from suspension to termination, Lumpkin County School Superintendent Dewey Moye said Monday. Ariemma has spent nearly six years teaching in the rural county about 75 miles north of Atlanta. She told The Associated Press Monday that students were covering an important and sensitive topic – but one that she might handle differently in the future. “It was poor judgment on my part in allowing them to film at school,” Ariemma said. “… That was a hard lesson learned.” The incident happened at Lumpkin County High School. Ariemma said her students spend the year viewing films and later create their own films to watch in class. She said the students brainstorm and pick topics to cover. This particular class decided to trace the history of racism in America. She said the class has 15 students of multiple races, but no blacks. A group of five students took on the subject, which included covering the history of the notorious white supremacist group which had large chapters in Stone Mountain, Ga. and Tuscaloosa, Ala. One student filmed and did not wear sheets, she said. “The kids brought the sheets in, they had SpongeBob party hats underneath to make it shaped like a cone,” Ariemma said. “They cut out the eyes so they could see.” Ariemma said she led the students through a cafeteria to another location where they shot the scene. Later, she said another teacher approached her. “That's when I heard there were a couple of students who were upset,” she said. Ariemma said she wasn't able to find those students to explain the project to them. Monday, student Cody Rider told Atlanta's WSB-TV that his cousin was among those who saw the group in white sheets and was frightened. “I got mad and stood up and I tried to go handle it,” he told the TV station. Moye said a black parent went to the school to complain that evening. Ariemma has no history of missteps at the school, Moye said, but administrators of the roughly 90 percent white school system are taking the incident seriously. “This stuff happened in history. Do you ignore it? No,” he said. “But you certainly don't walk the hallway in the garb.” Ariemma says administrators will review the film and decide if it will be shown in the classroom. She said the students who wore the sheets were shaken when they realized hat other students were upset. added by: onemalefla

Rachel Uchitel Text Messages to David Boreanaz Revealed

Rachel Uchitel became a household name as Tiger Woods’ mistress. But before she started the chain of events that sent Elin Woods into a 9-iron wielding rage and crushed Tiger’s image and face, she was David Boreanaz’s mistress . This isn’t a new revelation, but Uchitel is once again under scrutiny after a different woman came forward alleging an affair with the married Boreanaz this month. Boreanaz went public with his infidelity, claiming the second chick tried to extort him in exchange for silence. But it appears his fling with Uchitel was more intense. Newly-leaked Blackberry messages between them show Rachel being graphically seductive one minute, then raging mad for not spending time with her the next. When mistresses wanna be exclusive, it gets ugly . Boreanaz : “This is not a good time.” His wife, Jaime Bergman , was pregnant with their second child, and even though he reportedly texted Rachel while Jaime was in labor, that wasn’t enough for Uchitel. Uchitel : “I can’t do this anymore. Just go. Just (bleeping) go and be with her.” Boreanaz : “Why do u act like such a (bleeping) child!!! She is my wife” Uchitel : “Oh, please!! You’re such a liar. You’re never leaving. You’ve wasted my time and I’m alone. I can’t f*%king be alone anymore. I’ve been alone my entire life.” Boreanaz : “What the HELL are you talking about. We spend more than enough time together.” You get the idea. The text messages offer a rare, explicit look inside an affair between two people who would later go on to make major gossip headlines for … affairs. Things were serious between Rache and the Bones star for awhile, it appears. In another exchange, Uchitel tells Boreanaz that she is arriving in L.A., where they hooked up at the swanky L’Hermitage Hotel – with David footing the bill. Uchitel also references another location and secret tryst, having flown out of La Guardia airport with Boreanaz on June 21, 2009, for a three-day hook up. Finally, she told David Boreanaz that she needs to be “the only one.” Boreanaz : “That is extremely IMPOSSIBLE at this stage in my life, I fear Jamie will not let me see the baby.” Asked for comment via her lawyer, Gloria Allred, Uchitel issued a statement: “Rachel Uchitel has reviewed the text messages alleged to be between her and David Boreanaz. She believes they are not authentic and someone is deliberately trying to portray her in a false light. Ms. Uchitel strongly asserts that these texts should not be published.” Sure thing, Gloria. Because if we can think of anyone with impeccable credibility, it’s that serial home-wrecking, money-grubbing floozy Rachel Uchitel .

The Height of Hypocrisy: The Kardashians Are Desperate to Lose Weight

It doesn’t get any more hypocritical than Kim and Khloe Kardashian. We have no problem with the talentless reality stars taking advantage of society’s obsession with celebrities, shilling for various products and posing for magazines. But we do ask for a semblance of consistency in their stances, especially when they affect young girls across the country. Earlier this month, Kim posed naked for Harper’s Bazaar because it offered her lots of money she wanted to send a message: “Embrace your curves and who you are.” But this is the same woman that touts the unregulated weight loss supplement QuickTrim at every opportunity. The Kardashians celebrated Kourtney’s 31st birthday in Vegas… by sending terrible messages to every female fan. It’s also the same woman who told Us Weekly over the weekend that “my sister weighs less than I do, and she just had a baby… that’s kind of fascinating to me.” When Kourtney said breastfeeding new son Mason was a significant reason behind her rediscovered bikini body , Khloe chimed in: “If that’s all it takes… then someone breastfeed off of me! I don’t care!” Was Khloe joking? Of course. But do millions of teenage girls actually suffer from body weight issues and look to people such as the Kardashians for advice and self-esteem? Sadly, yes. It would be refreshing if these sisters actually took that responsibility seriously. [Photos: Splash News]

Drink Thrown at Snooki; Nation Celebrates

Last season on Jersey Shore, Brad Ferro punched Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. That was very uncool. You cannot condone violence of that nature, especially perpetrated against an Oompa Loompa by a ‘roided-up gym teacher. A drink tossed in her face, tough? That we can appreciate. The reality star, who just broke up with Emilio Masella , was doing shots with co-star J-Woww at Ocean’s 10 bar in Miami Saturday at 6 p.m. That’s when some random dude approached her. “She was in a good mood, but this particular guy was obviously interested and she wasn’t,” a witness said. “She told him, ‘Don’t f–k with me’ so he snatched her drink and walked off.” The situation escalated from there. “I guess he provoked her by wanting an apology and she flipped out,” the witness said. ” Snooki threw a handful of food from her table at the guy, and then slapped him on his shoulder and his face – before tossing a plastic cup at him.” It is unclear whether this will be shown on Jersey Shore, but unknown guy retaliated by throwing his drink all over Snooki. Well worth $7.50. J-Woww ran over screaming “What the f–k happened?” as security threw him out. Snooki said, “He took my drink!” Scintillating, as always. After taking a few seconds to re-do her hair pouf, she continued partying with J-Woww at another location. Season Two begins July 29!

‘American Idol’ Host Ryan Seacrest Explains Recent Quirky Behavior

‘I was in a good mood!’ Seacrest says of his antics on this week’s show. By Gil Kaufman Ryan Seacrest Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images It’s been hard not to notice that Ryan Seacrest has been acting a bit strangely on “American Idol” this season. From his aggressive grilling of lead judge Simon Cowell to his new penchant for making up pet nicknames for contestants and judges (“SiCo”?), the normally genial Seacrest has raised some eyebrows this year with quirky behavior. This week’s shows brought those quirks into sharp focus via some wild air-guitar playing; an out-of-the-blue slam of season-one co-host Brian Dunkleman; a strange, self-deprecating on-air chat with his mother and the man-on-man slow dance during Tim Urban’s performance. So, what’s up with Ryan? The Los Angeles Times cornered the multitasking radio/TV personality and reality-show producer to ask him about the incidents, his recent exceedingly high energy on the show and how he’s feeling about Simon Cowell’s impending departure. Asked about the man dance with someone he ID’d as season-eight “Idol” finalist roughneck Michael Sarver (even though it was clearly not Sarver), Seacrest said he was just having some fun. “I was enjoying it,” he said. “We’ve done this show for nine years. When they take me out into the audience, sometimes the energy out there takes me to a different place. I looked at the people and I was just having fun Tuesday night. That guy looked like the most inappropriate person to dance with, so I figured, ‘Let’s pick him up and just dance with him for a second.’ ” Because he’s shuttled all around the studio while introducing the contestants, Seacrest said that sometimes he gets trapped in a location and he tries to make the most of it. “I can’t actually get out of the location to get back to the side of the stage,” he said. “So sometimes I’ll do something like that to get past it. But that night, I was just enjoying it and having a good time. My mom was there in the audience, I was in a good mood!” Eagle eyed “Idol” watcher MJ Santilli, who runs MJsBigBlog.com , told MTV News that Seacrest’s behavior has concerned her and been a distraction to the show. “Ryan’s behavior is disturbing me,” she said. “I think he may be taking a note from the producers to spice things up a little too far. Edginess is one thing, but Ryan has stepped over the line to insanity. Ryan has always played the sane and sober lynchpin of the show. And while he could be juvenile, he was never mean spirited or crazy. I want the old Ryan back.” The Times brought up the fact that some contestants said Seacrest seemed tired during dress rehearsal, but then seemed to get his second wind on-air Tuesday night, when he opened the show with a double-entendre-heavy interview with mentor Adam Lambert. The host said the unscripted moments are just his way of playfully amping up the proceedings for the live show at the end of one of his typically long, exhausting days of doing a morning radio show and an afternoon/evening “Idol” taping. “I had fun during the dress rehearsal too,” he explained. “It’s one of those things where the contestants change every year, and we’re here every year, and every now and then, you throw in an unconventional intro or outro just to make it different. Some people might think it’s funny, other people might not. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s live and you’re at bat, and you’re just swinging as many times as you can. … But there is no script. The conversation with Adam Lambert? Unscripted. I rehearse only the camera blockings so I know which cameras we’re going to use, but we certainly don’t rehearse any of the antics or any of the craziness that goes on.” He also chalked the Dunkle-slam up to some unscripted, spontaneous fun. There were some other explanations offered by Entertainment Weekly about Seacrest’s antics that could be summed up in one word: caffeine. In an interview after the show, Urban said that the impromptu dance during his performance threw him off when he heard people laughing about it. “It was a little weird, because people laughed at [Ryan] dancing in the middle of the song, so I had to zone it out,” Urban said. “I could kind of catch it in the corner of my eye that he was dancing. I just tried not to think about it.” Then again, apparently Seacrest danced during rehearsal as well, so perhaps Urban shouldn’t have been so surprised. “What he just did on [the live show] was nothing,” Urban said. “Dress rehearsal was nuts. We were in the back going, ‘All right?’ We did not know what was happening.” That prompted Crystal Bowersox to chime in about rehearsals as well, saying, “We were worried about Ryan a little … He was kooky, in a sweet Ryan kind of way.” Before her ouster, teen Katie Stevens got to the bottom of the situation. “I asked him, after dress rehearsal, ‘Ryan, what is up with you?’ ” Stevens said. “And he goes, ‘You know, I’m really, really tired right now, so I’m trying to fool myself into thinking that I’m awake.’ [He was] over-caffeinated.” With his increased presence around the judges’ table, where he has clashed with Cowell on occasion and pressed the rest of the panel for explanations of their critiques more than in the past, the Times wondered if Seacrest was interested in changing jobs. “I do not want to be a judge,” he answered unequivocally. “I actually like being the master of ceremonies. I like being the host. I like being on the side of the contestants. I like getting to know the contestants.” That said, Seacrest explained that he’s spent enough time onstage with contestants to know when a critique has confused them, which is why he’s been doing more follow-up questioning of the judges this year. “The intent is never to press the judges’ buttons,” he said. “I’ve stood next to those kids for nine years. I can kind of sense body language when they have heard a critique where they’re not quite sure what it means, or that critique might be something that’s antithetical to the critique they heard three weeks ago, or two weeks ago, or a week ago! So the idea behind that is to try get a little bit of clarity.” And despite their sometimes tense on-air exchanges, Seacrest said he and Cowell are friendly both on and off set and that they’ve never gone to commercial break upset with one another. In fact, he described Cowell leaving next year as being like “losing my oxygen. I don’t know what it will be like without him next year.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Brazil to Welcome New Woodstock in October 2010?

Itu, a small town 100 kilometers from Sao Paulo, could be the location of a new edition of Woodstock, that little festival in 1969 that changed everything. Even though the event has not been confirmed, a well known advertising personality from Brazil is giving twitter updates and announcing they'll be able to talk about it in a month. More inside. Says Yahoo Brazil that the event would be a partnership between the company Groove Concept and advertising guru Eduardo Fischer. Even if the businessman and his company have released notes stating that all news so far is pure speculation, he has written on his twitter account: “In 29 days we'll be able to talk about a big sustainability even that will need your participation. #WOODSTOCK AND YOU HELPING THE PLANET”. Yahoo Brazil goes on to say that the festival's creator, Michael Lang, has authorized the organization of the event, and that it would take place on October 07-09 in a ranch called Maeda, information that also confirms a2media. Both say that bands could include Green Day, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam and Bob Dylan, although Fischer has made clear that nothing is official yet. However, the a2media blog noted that Pearl Jam could be giving some clues about their participation in Woodstock Brazil through their website. There's also an event site at last.fm. What do you think? Is this happening? If so, we cannot wait! We'll keep you posted. added by: love_is_my_religion

Review: Again

Usually I’m the one talking about other people’s reviews. In this case, I decided to take on a review and tackled CiNG’s Again , which could be the last American-released title from the now-bankrupt development team. If you’ve never heard of them, you might have heard of Hotel Dusk:
