By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Lindsay Lohan Photo: David McNew/ Getty Images Despite remaining relatively low-key since Tuesday’s sentencing, it may be too little too late for Lindsay Lohan , according to one opinionated gossip blogger. Perez Hilton says that unlike many starlets who have seen their fair share of trouble with the law over the last few years, Lohan seems to be the only one who can’t keep herself out of trouble. And while she’s managed to avoid the club scene all this week, instead opting to hang out with Kim Kardashian at home and go to an art store with her family, according to E! Online, Hilton says that now is the time for Lohan to give up her “train wreck” ways. “Right after she was forced to wear that alcohol-monitoring bracelet [earlier this year], she did cut back on the partying a little bit, for about a week or a week and half,” Hilton told MTV News. “But even after having the alcohol-monitoring bracelet placed on her, Lindsay continued to go out and party repeatedly.” Case in point was only this past June when Lohan walked the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards . “Lindsay even showed up to the MTV Movie Awards. Was it necessary for her to go to that? No! Was she promoting any movie? No! Why was she there?” Hilton wondered about the star, who he has previously suggested has been sentenced fairly for her crime. And while he questions her behavior, he wonders if she can follow in the “clean up your act” footsteps taken by some of her peers. “A lot of the things Lindsay’s done [over the years] just make you want to scratch your head. You would think she would learn her lessons by now, but she clearly hasn’t,” Hilton said. “You look back on the year 2007 when Lindsay got into major trouble — which resulted in all the recent trouble — back in 2007 both Paris Hilton and Britney Spears were also kind of out of control. [But now] they have their acts together. They’ve matured and grown up. ‘We didn’t get a shot at fairness,’ Dina Lohan says of her daughter’s legal troubles. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan in court on Tuesday Photo: David McNew/ Getty Images Following Michael Lohan’s interviews on CNN and Fox News about his estranged daughter’s legal woes, Lindsay’s mother, Dina, sat down with “Entertainment Tonight” for an interview airing on Friday (July 9). “[Lindsay] is scared to death,” Dina Lohan said of her daughter’s emotional state after being sentenced to 90 days in jail for probation violation. “You know, she’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that … we’re going to have to see [if she can survive jail]. God willing, it won’t happen.” Lindsay and attorney Shawn Chapman Holley parted ways on Thursday, and her mother confirmed that she is currently looking for new legal counsel so that she can file an appeal. “She’s a fighter, and until the final result, we’re not giving up,” Dina said. “I think it’s time we get another attorney just to see it from another light and do damage control.” At Tuesday’s hearing, Dina said that her daughter felt “completely blindsided” because she thought she had been in compliance with her parole terms. The judge ruled that Lindsay violated probation by missing her alcohol education classes, but Holley and several legal experts told MTV News that the resulting sentence seemed excessively harsh. “This is not an OJ Simpson trial, which they made it out to be,” Dina said, criticizing Judge Marsha Revel. “If she wants a trial, then make it a fair trial. I feel like Shawn [Chapman Holley], Lindsay’s [former] attorney should have stood up and said, ‘Listen, I didn’t know you were going to have witnesses.’ We would have had 10 witnesses. We didn’t get a shot. We didn’t get a shot at fairness.” Lohan described how she and her daughter are dealing with the idea that as of July 20, Lindsay will be in jail. “It’s very difficult,” she said. “We’re not sleeping well; we’re not functioning. We cry a lot and we hug a lot. She’s petrified. We all are. We’re angry. We’re disappointed in the system. “She did a really stupid thing,” Dina admitted. “Thank God she didn’t hurt anyone. … I know my daughter is clean and sober today. I know that for a fact. I’m not a doctor … and I’m not an attorney. I’m a mother. And in a new interview, Lohan voiced his opinion on the “f— U” message Lindsay stenciled on her middle fingernail before appearing in court. “It is stupid, it’s insane, it’s so dark,” Michael said on Fox News’ “Studio B With Shepard Smith.” “Why would you do that, and for what reason — and not expect people to see it or word get out?” Asked if he thought Lindsay would go on a binge in the days before serving her prison sentence, he responded, “Absolutely. If anything, [the people around her] enable her.” Michael Lohan also didn’t hold back in saying that his ex-wife, Dina, isn’t doing enough to help Lindsay, who is taking a number of prescription medications, a probation report recently revealed. “It just tears me up. Especially to see that my wife, my ex-wife, is around her and not doing a damn thing to help her. She should be in a rehab now,” he said. “And what Dina should be doing, and I’m calling her out right now, is she should get the names of the doctors off every prescription, every bottle, and she should turn those names over to the authorities for investigation.” Smith, however, pointed out that Michael’s own motives as a parent were called into question when he was photographed smiling as he had dinner with friends just hours after his daughter’s hearing. “Are you kidding me?” Lohan said. “Give me a break. All of my effort is spent on trying to help my daughter, flying all over, back and forth, following her, calling narcotics agencies, meeting with the DEA, meeting with people. And I go out for five minutes to get some food and I spend ‘half as much time helping my daughter’ as I do that? By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Lindsay Lohan Photo: Dave McNew/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan released a statement Thursday (July 8) through her lawyer calling her recent jail and rehab sentencing “unfair.” Gossip blogger Perez Hilton, however, thinks this is just the medicine Lohan needs to get her act together. “Do I think Lindsay Lohan’s sentencing was fair? Absolutely! Was it fair that Lindsay only served 90 some minutes last time she went to jail and then got released? No!” Hilton told MTV News on Thursday. “So, finally, fairness is catching up with Lindsay.” Hilton said Lohan has had her chances and that now is the time for her to finally seize this moment and get her life back on track, even if she doesn’t see it that way. “She has been given so many opportunities in the past, so now that her lawyer and her have released a statement saying that it’s unfair, I want to laugh at them,” he said. “That’s just ridiculous. It’s more than fair.” While it is still unknown how much of her jail term she will serve before she heads to court-ordered rehab, Hilton said Lohan should prepare to serve all of it. “I think Lindsay should be prepared to serve a full 90 days, and she should be thankful for it,” he said. Why? “Because it really is the best thing that could happen for her in addition [to the rehab]. “I think Lindsay will hold up just fine in jail,” he continued. “The Lohans know how to handle incarceration. Lindsay’s father could give some tips.” What still surprises Hilton most about Lohan’s latest woes is the fact that she had planned to have a birthday party, which she eventually skipped , just a day after her Tuesday hearing. “What is so incredulous to me is how above the law she thought she was,” he said. “She was scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, she had a birthday party planned. Over the span of two days, the network morning shows have given just 20 seconds of coverage to the recess appointment of Donald Berwick, a pro-rationing doctor who will run Medicare. In contrast, Good Morning America, Today and Early Show devoted 48 minutes of coverage to every detail of Lindsay Lohan’s sentencing. On Wednesday and Thursday’s GMA, ABC hosts discussed Lohan for 14 minutes. CBS’s Early Show managed 12 minutes to the important topic. Both programs had no mention of Berwick, who once told an audience in Great Britain, “Please, don’t put your faith in market forces.” NBC’s Today, so far, has been the only morning show to mention Berwick at all. On Wednesday, news reader Lester Holt explained: President Obama is expected to appoint his choice to oversee Medicare and Medicaid today, while Congress is in recess. This means Dr. Donald Berwick won’t have to undergo Senate confirmation hearings. Republicans had wanted to question the Harvard professor and healthcare policy expert about comments he made on rationing medical care. However, this 20 second brief hardly explains Berwick’s comments, including this statement, also in Britain: “I hope you realize and affirm how badly you need–how badly the world needs–an example at scale of a health care system that is universal, accessible, excellent and free at the point of care–a health system that, at its core is like the world we wish we had: generous, hopeful, confident, joyous and just.” However, Today also allotted the most time to the Lohan story: 24 minutes over two days.
