Warren Buffett, the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and one of the richest men in the world, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 81-year old made the announcement yesterday in a statement that reads: “I received my diagnosis last Wednesday. I then had a CAT scan and a bone scan on Thursday, followed by an MRI today.” “These tests showed no incidence of cancer elsewhere in my body. My doctors and I have decided on a two-month treatment of daily radiation to begin in mid-July. This regimen will restrict my travel during that period, but will not otherwise change my daily routine.” Buffett says his energy level is “”100%,” but he understands the fear of investors and has attempted to quell them by saying he’s named a successor to his post. He will alert them to this individual’s identity if his health declines dramatically, but believes “that day is a long way off.” We wish the financial guru a full recovery and, in the meantime, the public can expect to hear his name brought up often throughout the 2012 President election, as Barack Obama is on the campaign trail right now, advocating for Congress to pass The Buffett Rule, which would increase tax rates on investments/millionaires. We doubt Ted Nugent is in favor of it.
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s … The Situation. According to Wizard World Inc., the Jersey Shore star has signed a publishing, development and appearance deal to create and publish a comic book based on Sitch . “MPS Entertainment and I are thrilled about our new relationship with Wizard World. I grew up reading comic books and now I get a chance to star in my own. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we are working on,” said Sitch, a.k.a. Mike Sorrentino . We know, we thought this was a joke at first too. Added John Macaluso, the CEO of Wizard World: “Wizard World is so excited to partner with one of pop culture’s greatest stars. Mike will broaden our relationships with celebrities to new areas that leverage our access to the media, the fans, and especially our ability to bring comic book characters to life.” The series of comic books based on stories by Mike and his family will be written and drawn by some of the comic book industry’s leading artists and writers. You can even catch the soon-to-be illustrated family on tour, as they are slated to appear at several Wizard World conventions to promote their characters. On location outside an elementary school, she began to tell viewers about how two teachers are being investigated for … sorry, it’s a lot to remember! After blanking, she uttered “I’m stupid” before the anchors cut her off. To be fair to the poor girl, it’s possible this was a pre-recorded segment she shot and the producers used the wrong tape (of the failed take) instead of the final one. Gary Ross and The Hunger Games have parted ways. Ross’ exit was all but confirmed last week, but he’s released a statement explaining why he decided to discontinue his work with the famous trilogy: “Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire ,” said Ross (below, right). “As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would want to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.” “I loved making The Hunger Games. It was the happiest experience of my professional life. Lionsgate was supportive in a manner that few directors ever experience.” “They empowered me to make the film I wanted to make and backed the movie in a way that requires no explanation beyond the remarkable results.” “And contrary to what has been reported, negotiations with Lionsgate have not been problematic. They have also been very understanding of this difficult decision.” “I also cannot say enough about the people I worked with: Producer Nina Jacobson, a great collaborator and a true friend; the brilliant Suzanne Collins, who entrusted us with her most amazing and important story; the remarkable Jennifer Lawrence whose performance exceeded my wildest expectations, and the rest of the incredible cast, whom I am proud to call my friends.” “To the fans I want to say thank you for your support your faith, your enthusiasm and your trust. Miles is having a tougher go of it in her new movie, however. In LOL (seriously, that’s the name), Cyrus stars as Lola (or Lol, for short, seriously), a high schooler navigating through peer pressures of romance and friendship. Anderson Cooper just cannot keep it together sometimes. The CNN anchor, whose laughter famously got the best of him last year during a story on Gerard Depardieu (or Depard-two if you will), lost it again last night. The giggling started during a segment about Dyngus Day (a Polish holiday marking the end of Lent) and progressed to the point of sheer ridiculousness. A voiceover describing the holiday’s traditions was the tipping point. Once the words “a tap from a pussy willow branch” were uttered, AC checked out.
