Michael Jackson Paramedic Recalls Hectic Ride To The Hospital

Path was blocked by paparazzi, Richard Senneff recalls during Conrad Murray preliminary hearing. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: AFP/ Getty Images Everywhere late King of Pop Michael Jackson went in life, he was photographed and followed by the paparazzi. So it’s no surprise that even in death, the musical icon could not escape the scrutiny of the prying tabloid press and his rabid fans. In the third day of testimony in the preliminary hearing of Dr. Conrad Murray , a paramedic who responded to a 911 call to Jackson’s rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009, said the ambulance’s path to the hospital was blocked by photographers and Jackson fans who were gathered outside the singer’s home that morning. Murray, who was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician in the lead-up to the singer’s attempted This Is It comeback concerts in London, has been charged with a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the case. According to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedic Richard Senneff said he could not believe the mad scene outside Jackson’s Holmby Hills mansion last June. “It’s a circus out there. It’s unbelievable,” he recalled thinking in the hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to bring Murray to trial. Senneff said the ambulance driver had trouble getting away from the home because of the huge crowd outside that included a tour bus and a variety of photographers. “It just seemed wrong,” he said, describing how one man holding a video camera ran alongside the ambulance holding his long lens against the window of the emergency vehicle. When questioned by a defense lawyer, Senneff said Murray had wanted to put a “central line” — a large catheter placed in a large vein in the neck or chest — in an attempt to restart Jackson’s heart, but the paramedics did not have the equipment or training to pull off the procedure. Earlier testimony by bodyguards claimed that Murray had improperly administered CPR to Jackson after finding the singer unresponsive, did not appear to know how to give the life-saving treatment and then requested that another guard round up medical evidence before calling 911. Senneff said Jackson did not respond to two rounds of drugs meant to revive him and that hospital officials told him over the ambulance radio to “call” Jackson’s death but that neither he nor Murray wanted to do it, despite the fact that Jackson appeared to be dead when they arrived. He described Jackson not having a pulse, cold legs and dry eyes and said the paramedics’ heart monitor showed the performer had “flatlined.” When Murray was asked how long Jackson had been unresponsive, CNN reported that Senneff testified Murray told him it “just happened,” an account the paramedic said “didn’t add up.” Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center a short time later, and Senneff said rescue workers had gone “above and beyond” the call of duty in the field to try and revive Jackson, not because he was a celebrity, but because “it was someone’s son.” In further damaging testimony, Judge Michael Pastor heard from another paramedic who, like Senneff, said Murray did not initially tell them that he had given Jackson medications. A police investigation found that Murray had administered a variety of sedatives to Jackson in the hours before the singer’s death, including doses of the powerful anesthetic propofol. Paramedic Martin Blount said the denial about what medications he’d given Jackson struck him as strange because he saw hypodermic needles and three bottles of the anesthetic lidocaine in the pop star’s room. Murray, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, “scooped up” the bottles and put them in a bag before leaving for the hospital. In other testimony, TMZ reported that two phone company representatives reported that in the hours before and after Jackson’s death, Murray texted and phoned a number of people, but never dialed 911. According to accounts of Jackson’s final hours, Murray left the singer’s side to go to the bathroom just before 11 a.m. and when he returned, he found him unresponsive. Records read in court show that Murray was sending and receiving multiple texts every few minutes after the discovery, but that he did not inform a Jackson bodyguard to call 911 until after 12:20 p.m. Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos

Jay Sean Looks Forward To Freezing Time In 2011

As he rang the closing bell of the NASDAQ in Times Square, the singer reflected on his past and future. By Jay Sean, with additional reporting by Akshay Bhansali Jay Sean rings the closing bell of the NASDAQ in Times Square Photo: Nasdaq MarketSite NEW YORK — To commemorate the first day of trading in the New Year, Jay Sean had the honor of ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square on Monday, and MTV News tagged along for the ride with his family, friends and industry colleagues. It has certainly been a rather meteoric two-year ride for the Brit in America, and in 2011, the Cash Money R&B singer will release his second stateside album, Freeze Time. At this introspective moment, Sean wrote about his feelings about his past year and the one to come, just for MTV News: “So, another year gone, and so much has happened. Sometimes it feels like it’s all one big blur, and thankfully, I have photos and calendar entries to see exactly what it was that I did!! 2010 was a year in which I witnessed growth. Growth as an artist, as a vocalist, and a songwriter but perhaps more importantly growth as a human being. 2009 ended with me having wedged my foot in the door, and 2010 gave me the opportunity to walk proudly in, quietly confident. By scoring two more hits in the U.S. with “Do You Remember” and “2012 (It Ain’t the End),” I managed slowly but surely to establish my place in the enormous American music scene, and that’s important to get those notches in the belt. One of the coolest memories for me was watching “The Karate Kid,” starring Jaden Smith, and hearing my song “Do You Remember” kick it all off. I can’t pretend I wasn’t overly pleased with myself (mainly because I knew that Will Smith had now heard my music, and anyone can tell you I’m the biggest Will Smith fan! lol). “2010 brought me back into the studio! Songwriting is actually my favorite part. To sit there away from all distractions in the world and create something that hopefully one day the world might hear and that my lovely fans will hopefully BUY LEGALLY FROM ITUNES AND VARIOUS OTHER DIGITAL AND PHYSICAL OUTLETS for, let’s face it, less than the price of two McDonald’s meals … (I digress, but you know what I mean!!) That is amazing for me. Nothing can match that process of creation. I see it as a privilege more than a gift, and I appreciate it. And I appreciate my co-writers and producers!! Big up all yourselves!! I got to work with the best of the best. Together we made an album that I am truly proud of. From its uplifting uptempos to sexy slow jams and melodic mid-tempos, I can honestly say this is my best work yet! If you loved the fun uptempos like “Down,” you’re gonna hear more like that! And if you liked slower sexy songs like “Ride It,” you’re gonna love this album! It’s a sick blend of pop, dance and r’n’b. It’s called Freeze Time, and it’s my fourth album. I can’t wait for you all to hear it when it comes out this year!!! Also last year, I got to work with some of the coolest artist in the world! From Nicki Minaj to Mary J. Blige, last year I shot six music videos, many of which will come out early in 2011, including my duets with Alesha Dixon from the U.K. and Jessica Mauboy in Australia. I also got to do my fourth song with Lil Wayne (FOURTH!!! WTF?!) which featured on his I Am Not A Human Being album! “Today, I leave to go to Qatar to do a concert and sing the Asia Cup theme song on which I’m featured. That’s gonna be a lot of fun! I also toured heavily with my band last year, and shared the stage and got to have jokes with some of the worlds biggest artists: Enrique Iglesias, Bruno Mars, Akon, B.o.B, Pitbull, Sean Paul, Flo Rida, Natasha Bedingfield and Katy Perry, to name just a few! In arenas around the world, to audiences of up to 20,000 in each arena!!! 20, 000!!! Eight years ago, I was onstage singing my heart out at bars to an audience of 23 wasted students, whilst dodging bottles of beer and making out like it was a dance move. Oh, and my DJ at the time was my brother. And the sound guy was, umm … my brother. And now, as I stand on the stage at the 02 in London or MSG in New York, I can honestly say, these are the most incredible live performances I’ve ever done. From Australia, to London, to Miami and Vegas, I traveled around the globe and managed to sing to all my wonderful fans everywhere. (Why does that make me sound like Santa Claus?) I am fortunate to have such loyal fans, and I love you all and thank you for your continued support over the years. You are all allowing me to live my dream, and I thank you for that. “My fans also helped me through the lowest point of my life so far. One of my favorite people on Earth left in November, my granddad. He passed away from a stroke, but fortunately I got to hold his hand in his last hours and tell him how much I love him. That taught me something, watching someone take their last few breaths. To take in ALL that we can, because we never know how long it’s all going to last. My granddad’s motto was ‘Don’t worry man, be happy,’ and I want to live like that from now on, to just not sweat the small stuff and be grateful for what we do have. And to just have fun and enjoy it all!!! Life is about the journey, not just the destination, so I take a lot more photos now so that I can remember all the moments. I’m gonna take on 2011 for everything it throws at me and OWN THAT BIYAAATCH!! I ended 2010 with a bang (and a disgusting hangover) by performing in Vegas for NYE and kicked off the New Year by ringing the closing bell on the first day of trading in 2011 at NASDAQ in Times Square, New York — my unfortunate mug on a GIGANTIC screen in the middle of Times Square, right opposite Diddy! Madness!! 2011 is going to be amazing, I can feel it.” Related Artists Jay Sean

Lady Gaga’s 2010 Looks, From Lacy Gowns To The Meat Dress

Singer made headlines for her fashions throughout the year. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images This may always be remembered as the year that Lady Gaga wore a meat dress to the VMAs , but the singer wore more than meat in 2010. As one of the year’s most stylish celebrities, Gaga managed to make headlines for her fashions, be they weird or beautiful. (Click for photos of Gaga’s best looks of 2010.) She wore hats made of telephones , semi-nude bodysuits, dresses that looked like they were modeled on planets , lots of bikinis (even one made of meat ), mirrors, sunglasses, masks and really anything your fashionista heart could desire. She took risks, and at times, even when she was dressed more conventionally, still looked edgy and completely herself. As the face of the MAC Viva Glam campaign, Gaga hit the trail alongside pop icon Cyndi Lauper to spread the word about the charity. During an event in London, Gaga donned all-black lace, including a bodysuit and tights. But she took the fitted, demure frock and amped up the style by including a voluminous hat-and-mask combination. Gaga once again wore lace, this time white, to the Almay concert to celebrate the Rainforest Fund. The look included a bodice, a bouffant and a flowery hair clip. Gaga wore several memorable looks to the VMAs , but it was her most sedate that was the most traditionally stylish. Her leather Armani-designed gown might have looked silly on anyone else, thanks to its pointy bustier, but if anyone can pull off points and a Mohawk, it’s Gaga. The singer also displayed her keen eye for fashion on the streets. While out in London in October, Gaga went boho chic rocking a gray and blue wig, tiered pale-blush gown and sunglasses. Meanwhile, in Paris months later, Gaga looked refined in a blush- and lavender-hued Victorian-style gown that she paired with sunglasses and a beehive. Which Gaga look was your fave? Lady Gaga Calls Born This Way Her ‘Most Innovative’ Work

Gaga tells BBC new album is crosses genres, from metal to rock and roll. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Lady Gaga hasn’t exactly been shy when it comes to describing Born This Way, calling her upcoming record everything from “almost perfect” to “the greatest album of this decade.” And, in a new interview with the BBC , she continued that trend, calling Born her “most innovative” work so far, and promising her fans a musical experience unlike any they’ve ever heard. “[The album is] a marriage of electronic music with major, epic, dare I even say, metal or rock and roll, pop, anthemic style melodies with really sledge-hammering dance beats,” Gaga said , immediately before jumping onstage at London’s O2 Arena. “I think that lyrically this album is more poetic … It’s really written by the fans, they really wrote it for me because every night they’re funneling so much into me. So I wrote it for them. Born This Way is all about my little monsters and me, mother monster.” Echoing something she’s been saying since the summer Gaga promised that the album is “finished and all,” but that she’s currently “fine-tuning everything.” “It’s kind of like the post-operative stage of the album,” she said. “I’ve already done the full heart surgery. I’m just sewing myself back up again.” And, to that end, she added that her monsters might not have to wait much longer to hear the album’s first single — the title of which is still unknown — telling the BBC it would be released in February 2011, with the album arriving “shortly after.” Are you eager to hear Gaga’s Born This Way ?
