The best thing about the Die Hard Franchise (aside from the almost-perfect, couch-destroying original of course,) is the fact that when it comes to bad puns, these people have no shame. Die Hard 2: Die Harder ; Die Hard With A Vengeance ; Live Free or Die Hard . Brilliance. I can’t wait for Live Together Or Die Hard Alone , Live And Let Die Hard , Cowards Die Hard Many Times , and the teen spinoff I Am So Embarrassed I Could Just Die Hard . [ Releated: The Time Joel Silver Destroyed A $5K Couch During The Filming Of ‘Die Hard’ And WATCH: Bruce Willis Adds Gravitas (And A Little ‘Die Hard’ Confusion) To ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ International Trailer ] Anyway, before we get to those inevitable classics, we first must get past the upcoming 5th installment in the never-ending story of cowboy cop John McClane, A Good Day To Die Hard . AGDTDH finds McClane going to Moscow just in time for a gigantic outbreak of terrorist violence, courtesy of an oily Russian who apparently just hates America a lot (boooo!). Conveniently, McClane’s son happens to be there, and also happens to be an American spy, so naturally the two of them team up to put the kibosh on the terrorist’s plans. The third trailer is out now, and yep, it is explodey. Yeah, buildings are damaged, wisecracks are made, and Ode To Joy returns as McClane’s theme song. But there’s no hint of yippie-kay-yay in this trailer, and that is in and of itself a miracle. Not as miraculous as the idea that McClane and his son wouldn’t be flattened into bloody wet pancakes when they fall into water like that, but a miracle nonetheless. Trey Songz has already written a song about fear — literally . His track “Don’t Be Scared” soothes a hot chick who’s afraid of her carnal desire for some sweet, sweet loving. Of course, calming a girl into bed is easier than calming a girl while you’re both running from a blood-lusted maniac. But Texas Chainsaw 3D director John Luessenhop knew Trey Songz could handle the challenge when he saw the thrice Grammy-nominated R&B singer float down from the ceiling during the BET Awards and seduce Solange Knowles and the crowd; the next day, Luessenhop called his agent and asked if he could send him the script for the horror sequel — if Songz could control a stage, maybe he could command a screen. And so Trey Songz (AKA “Mr. Steal Yo Girl” as he calls himself in his club banger “Bottoms Up,” AKA Tremaine ‘Trey Songz’ Neverson) stumbled into his unlikely starring debut in a slasher flick playing the boyfriend of Leatherface’s cousin, a brunette goth named Heather (Alexandra Daddario). Will Songz’ fans still swoon over his six-pack abs when they’re slicked with blood? Maybe — although on YouTube, commenters are threatening to storm out of the theater if he doesn’t survive. (We won’t spoil anything, but, um, have they ever seen a horror movie before?) Not only is Texas Chainsaw 3D a first for Songz, Songz is a first for the Texas Chainsaw series: Its first MTV fixture-turned-cast member, its first black star, and the first male love interest to cross the color lines. Plus, it’s the first time in film history where someone dies because a Trey Songz jam on the stereo muffles their screams. We ask Songz about breaking ground in Hollywood — and if R. Kelly should follow in his footsteps. When you told your friends you were the first major black character in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, did they immediately say, “You die, right?” Trey Songz: They wanted to know if I’d die in the credits! In the first ten minutes. It ain’t even a question if I died — it’s how quick. “How fast will it happen?” is what they wanted to know. On IMDb, the first three plot keywords for Texas Chainsaw 3D are: “interracial romance,” “pretty girl,” “interracial kiss.” What’s that about? It’s an obvious thing that’s still very present in this world. In Texas Chainsaw — a huge franchise that started in the ’70s that’s been remade four times, five times, however many times — there’s never been a relationship like this. And although it’s very present in here, I think it’s still a shock to some people that it’s so real. People are starting to erase the color lines. Which is awesome. It definitely is. In your songs, you have this reputation as being a player. I was curious to see if Ryan would be this sweet boyfriend who would change your image — but it turns out Ryan isn’t the best at monogamy. I think Ryan wants to be a good guy. He wants to be there for his girlfriend. You know, they’re young kids having a good time, and he’s messed up a time here or there. Heather, the girl who Alex [Daddario] plays, is kind of a mystery herself. She doesn’t know much about her past, and meanwhile her friend is going behind her back with Ryan and saying, “Hey, I was drunk, I didn’t know better — but let’s do it one more time.” Singing seems like it would be good preparation for acting. You learn that it’s not just what the line is, but how you say it. Singing is all about certain inflection on certain lines. I used to listen to tapes of everybody from Michael Jackson and Prince to Earth, Wind and Fire. They would have different vocal inflections. If the line insinuated pain, they would cringe on some lines. I remember Live at the London Palladium , Marvin Gaye is singing this song about love and he’s talking about how a man ain’t supposed to cry. And he’s going, “Oooohhoooh! Ohhhoooohh!” singing and crying at the same time. That was a good learning tool. Memorizing lines, too. I memorize my own words — I write my songs without writing the lyrics down most of the time, and that’s great practice. There’s a great scene in the movie where one of your friends is in the next room screaming for help, and you can’t hear him because you’ve got the stereo cranked up and playing, uh, one of your own songs. Rip in the space/time continuum? “I’m only here for the ladies and the drinks” — I’m going crazy. That’s funny. The beauty of that is this being my first film, a lot of people will relate to this as me being Trey Songz versus me being Ryan throughout the bulk of it. To those people that aren’t really within my world of music, it’ll be a good moment for them to tie that together as well. At the same time, you know, this is Trey Songz in this movie and this is Trey Songz’ song — if my fans go crazy, too, I’ll appreciate that. You’re already used to have cameras on you on tour and when you’re shooting videos. Do those same cameras feel different when you’re on a movie set? It’s a bit different, but I’d say having directed some of my videos, having shot I don’t know how many videos, and being in short movies sometimes or having very small roles in films, I have been prepared well. Most of the time I’m not speaking in these videos, but that’s probably about the only difference. You’ve said you were a shy child. Are you now used to attention? I wasn’t really ever that shy. That’s some misquoted s–t. I was the kind of kid who loved singing, I loved rapping, I loved attention. But for me, it was more about chasing the dream of being a superstar because of the town I was from and because of what I’d seen. That’s why I say wherever I go, all around the world, it don’t matter where you’re from, or what you’ve got going on, or who’s made it in what profession. You can do whatever it is you plan to do if you really stay focused. Several of the people you’ve worked with musically are making their own moves towards acting. I’m going to say a couple names — tell me what kind of movie you think would be perfect for them as their big break. Cool. Okay: Soulja Boy. A movie like Roll Bounce . Nicki Minaj . I think she could play anything. She’s a character within herself. Last one: R. Kelly. He’s always wanted to act. I don’t really know that about him, but if you listen to his songs, albums after albums after albums, they’re stories. He writes movies in his songs. He’s on Trapped in the Closet , like, 30 by now. I think he’d be good at it, actually. He could play any kind of role. He could play anything from a preacher to a villain. Which he kind of does in Trapped in the Closet . You wrote your joking response song “Out of the Closet” back when you were rivals. Now that you’ve made peace, when you heard he was making more chapters, did you want to get involved? That fact that he’s able to tell a story through music that’s so profound and deep — and with great vocals and great production — is amazing. That’s the end-all, be-all of it. Two reportedly drunk women forced the landing of a British Airways flight in Lyon, France, earlier this week. No, not the two women pictured below. The Real Housewives of New York City tandem just comes up when you run an image search for drunk women. Kind of says a lot. Anyway, the story: Flight BA2664 was headed from London’s Gatwick Airport to Tunis. The flight was diverted due to “the continued disruptive behavior of two female passengers.” The women were reportedly drinking Malibu rum and swearing at children. Nice. The gruesome twosome reportedly threatened the family of a British Airways flight attendant, tried to storm the cockpit, hid in the lavatory and tried to smoke. The Sun (UK) quoted a passenger as saying, “They decided they were going to meet the captain and marched towards the cockpit. It was very frightening.” It got so bad that the aircraft landed at a separate airport , where they were dealt with. “Our customers and flying crew deserve a safe and enjoyable flight experience,” an airline spokesperson said. “We do not tolerate any disruptive behavior.” “They were handed over to the custody of the French police and detained in Lyon.”
My name’s Luka and I’ve been a fan of Justin since the beginning. He means everything to me and I used to read all these amazing experiences and NEVER thought I would get to write one. This year has been amazing. When Justin came to London in April I waited outside his hotel for hours after school but had no luck in seeing him. I was disappointed but I knew he’d be back and I wasn’t ready to give up! Justin then came back to perform at Capital FM’s Summer Time Ball, it was amazing. I got into the golden circle and was so close and cried the whole way through his performance and afterwards Scooter came and gave me a high five and chatted to us which was SUPER COOL. The next time Justin came to London my dreams came true. On the 13th of September I finally met Justin Bieber. I had been stalking him since he arrived in London, desperately trying to find out where he was and what he was doing when I got a call from my dad (who works at ITV) saying that he was going to be there to film for the Jonathan Ross show. After school I went to the TV studio and sat in the cafe and just waited and waited. I was so nervous, I didn’t want to be disappointed again and I also was freaking out incase I did meet him, what would I say?! There was loads of Beliebers outside behind the railings who also knew he was there and were waiting to get a glimpse. My dad said to me that he had to go up and finish his work and that I had to just wait there. I told him that he couldn’t leave me alone cos I might die or faint or freak out. He was just about to leave when Justin walked into the room. I will never forget how it felt seeing him right there. I saw his gold sleeve and then his hair and then he turned round to face where I was and I couldn’t believe he was right in front of me, I started hyperventilating! I grabbed my phone and ran towards him, he was on his way outside with Moshe to say hi to the fans. The room was quite busy but not with any Beliebers, just random people that worked there. I ran up to him and I could hardly speak but I said, “Justin, I love you so much could I please have a photo?” He came over and said, “Of course!” I tried to get my phone in the right place to take the photo but my hand was shaking and I couldn’t so Justin took my phone and took the picture of us. I just wrapped my arms round him and gave him a hug. He handed me back my phone, smiled and I said, “Thank you, you’ve made my life.” He said “Thanks!” waved and carried on outside to see his fans. I was in complete shock and I just burst into tears. Although it was brief and we didn’t have like an hour long chat, it was the best moment of my life and I will never forget it. The photo makes me laugh because Justin looks so perfect and I’m all blurry but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I then got to chat with Moshe who was waiting outside Justin’s dressing room. I also saw Dan and said hello to Fredo. Then someone gave me Justin’s sweaty towel which is in my room now haha. I then stayed and watched him film the show and completely lost my voice from screaming. I just can’t thank Justin enough, there were a lot of people calling and trying to get pictures and he didn’t have to stop but he chose to. He could see how much I wanted him to because I having a break down! He made me the happiest girl in the whole world, I will never forget it! -Luka (@lukacharlotte) Excerpt from: My name’s Luka and I’ve been a fan of Justin since…
This is my Bieber Experience. I would never have imagined me writing this but here goes. Every time Justin came to London I would always go see him, even just to catch a glimpse or see his head poke out from the top of a car. I remember the first time I saw him, it was at Westfield Stratford and I saw him perform a few songs. I camped since 3 a.m. just too see him. I went to London a few times after that and only saw Justin’s head – which don’t get me wrong was amazing that I was still so close to him. But then on September 12th 2012, I finally met Justin and Alfredo, it was the most amazing day of my life. I didn’t expect it at all but I went too Capital FM, as people were saying Justin would be there, which was a rumor. A couple friends and I bumped into Nathan from The Wanted, he told us where Justin was staying. I was so excited because I knew it wasn’t a joke. I knew Justin was actually staying there. We travelled to the hotel and waited for 3-4 hours and Dan came out. He spoke to a few of us but had to leave as he was practicing for a performance. Then 30 minutes later Justin, Kenny, and Alfredo came out and there was about 20-30 girls there. Some girls all ran to Justin, so he ran back inside the hotel and Kenny was telling us to get behind the barriers . We all got behind the barriers and Justin and Alfredo came back out. Alfredo was filming and he stood right in front of us. I didn’t know what to say and he couldn’t take pictures as he was holding a huge camera so I said, “Alfredo can I touch you?” I probably sounded like a pervert I know but he held my hand. Justin was moving down the line closer to us and I took a photo with him, it all went so quickly but it was the best experience of my life. I couldn’t even believe it until an hour after. I rang my mum and I was speechless, she was speechless. Never give up, dream do come true. Two months after I met Justin he followed me on Twitter. I used to spend hours and hours tweeting him too follow me but I just simply tweeted him once saying, ‘I love you’ and he followed me. I didn’t expect it at all. An hour after Justin followed me, Alfredo followed me. It was another one of the best days of my life. I was so shocked and I was in school. Everyone was so happy for me and I had a smile on my face all day. NEVER SAY NEVER and BELIEVE because dreams DO come true. -Chelsey (@FredoAteMyOreos) See the original post: This is my Bieber Experience. I would never have imagined me…
Move over, Human Barbie . Here comes the Living Doll. At 15, Venus Palermo has grown into her doll obsession … sort of literally. Under the username Venus Angelic, the London teen posts beauty tutorials on YouTube. Living Doll Venus Palermo According to Venus, you too could be a ball-jointed doll (or BJD). Her doll-like appearance has turned her into an Internet star, and a magnet for controversy. Based on her 5 million viewers and a legion of Facebook fans, people take her advice on pupil contacts, plastic-sheen-effect powder, and white eye shadow to heart. But at what cost? The modern BJD is widely popular in Japan, which Venus is obsessed with. “Mommy cooks Japanese, thinks Japanese, goes to Japan with me,” writes Palermo on her blog. ” “Because we like it. Liking something, is soooooo GREAT!” Palermo’s obsession has attracted many a critic. Her videos have been called “bizarre” and “disturbing” in the media; her uncanny appearance is raising red flags. Perverse comments on the 15-year-old’s videos is proof she’s attracting unsavory fans. So is the occasional grown man trolling her Facebook page. But the teen’s mom doesn’t appear to be intervening in her daughter’s risky hobby. Mom serves as host of Q&A chats between teenager and fans. In one video posted last year, she sat by while the teenager chatted with a 24-year-old male who professed his love and then proceeded to belittle her. In text under that video, posted to VenusAngelic’s channel, Palermo refers to her fans as “lovers.” The title of the video is “Insane Guy in Love.” “The case of Venus Angelic is uncomfortably exploitative, as there is clearly a sexual undertone to what she is doing,” says Hilary Levey Friedman, PhD. “In general, young girls on YouTube is a disturbing, growing trend,” she says noting the recent trend of pre-teen girls asking viewers if they’re pretty. In many cases, parents are unaware of their child’s webcam usage, until their uploads go viral. But in other instances, the parents are facilitators. Levey Friedman wonders about Palermo’s mom’s aspirations for her, noting that Justin Bieber’s mom helped get his career get off the ground. The YouTube stage parent is relatively new concept. Most kids rise to viral fame for just being kids, and if a parent profits off of that they’re criticized. The rare performing prodigy, like Bieber, is an exception. Palermo doesn’t fall into either category. She may be bringing a Japanese trend to Western teens, but she’s also attracting a largely unwanted fan-base. What do you think? Harmless fun? Or too much, too soon?
The man who nearly single-handedly made puppets cool has gone to see the great manipulator in the sky. Gerry Anderson, creator of the pioneering puppetry technique called ‘Supermarionation’ and the popular series Thunderbirds , died Wednesday in Oxfordshire, England, at the age of 83 from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by four children, and by his third wife, Mary. Born in London on April 14, 1929, Anderson’s long career in television began in the 1950s, when he worked as a freelancer on numerous film and television productions. In 1957, he cofounded AP Films to produce the children’s series The Adventures Of Twizzle , which featured Anderson’s first use of extensive puppetry. This was followed by another series, Torchy The Battery Boy , in 1958, and finally Four Feather Fall in 1959, which was the first series to employ the technique for which he would become most well known. Anderson’s Supermarionation programs enjoyed considerable success during the 1960s (one of them was even picked up in the US by ABC), but it was the 1964-65 series Thunderbirds that made him world famous. The series focused on the Tracy family, adventurers who ran a high tech rescue service in the 21st century. It spawned two Supermarionation feature films, Thunderbirds Are Go! and Thunderbirds 6 , as well as a 2004 live action film which flopped. Other Supermarionation productions included Supercar , Joe 90 , The Secret Service , and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons . Supermarionation, which combines marionettes with complex wire work and motorized puppet faces, achieves the effect of presenting the puppets as independent actors. Though the technique fell out of favor as special effects improved during the 1970s, Supermarionation’s influence can still be seen not only in films and TV shows that deliberately mimic it — like Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police (below) — but in the worldwide success of The Muppets and the films made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in the 1980s. Interestingly, Anderson never liked working with puppets, seeing his Supermarionation programs as a way of making it possible to transition to live action, which just goes to prove once and for all that you don’t get to pick what you’re great at. Though Anderson transitioned to live action in the 1970s, with the exception of Space: 1999 his puppet-free productions never enjoyed the same level of fondness and influence. In recent years he produced a computer animated update of Captain Scarlet , and numerous aborted projects. He was awarded an MBE in 2001. We’ll be firing up Thunderbirds Are Go! in memorium. I’m Holly, I’m from Scotland and I met Justin Bieber in London on Thursday September 13th, 2012. I never, ever thought that one day I’d be writing my very own Bieber experience, so to be able to do this is just WOW. I’m grateful beyond words. I’ve been a Belieber since 2009 and most people know me as “the girl who loves Justin Bieber.” Despite Justin telling us to Never Say Never and to Believe, I always felt that my dream of meeting Justin was always going to remain a dream, I was proven wrong. I’ve entered so many Bieber related competitions and I’ve never been lucky, at times I even wondered what point was there of even entering them if I wasn’t going to feel nothing but disappointment when I didn’t win. When I had found out about the Clyde 1 In Demand Scotland Contest I thought I would give it a try, even though I was positive I wouldn’t get anywhere . I did as the competition said, I liked the picture of Justin they uploaded on their Facebook page and I waited. When the next day came I was picked as the first finalist! What?! Was this really happening to me? As the week went on two more finalists were picked, then on the final a 4th one was picked. We had to answer a question: “How many copies of Justin Bieber’s album Believe were sold in the UK?” I had no clue whatsoever, I took a guess and guess what? I WON. I WAS MEETING MY IDOL AFTER 3 WHOLE YEARS OF WAITING. I felt so lucky, so blessed and I was so grateful. I travelled to London on the 12th of September. I genuinely couldn’t believe that the next day I would be meeting my idol. I didn’t even know where I was meeting him, it was all kept very secretive. On the morning of the 13th I woke up feeling so sick with nerves, as I did every morning in the run up to the big day! In order to pass time my mum and I just chilled outside Justin’s hotel with all the Beliebers and I met so many amazing people that I hope I stay in contact with! I met Dan Kanter at Pret A Manger in Oxford Street and he was so sweet, we spoke and I got a picture with him. Then we got a phone call telling us we were to go back to Justin’s hotel where someone would come out and get us. After waiting for what seemed like forever in the cold we got another phone call telling us to walk into the hotel, so we did . I think loads of the Beliebers were probably like “What the hell is that girl doing?” but others were shouting “GO HOLLY!!” I was smiling so much. I was taken up to the floor Justin was staying on and on the way up, I met Kenny and I said hi and he said hi back. The radio interviews were running late so me and my mum had to sit out at the lifts and wait. The lift door opened and out walked Moshe and went to Justin’s room. When he came back he asked if I was the competition winner and I replied yes. My mum said to him that Justin must be tired with all the interviews and the busy schedule and Moshe smiled and said, “It’s all part of the job.” We were then taken to stand outside Justin’s room. I could hear him talking, laughing, at one point he even sang part of ‘As Long As You Love Me.’ I was dying, I was so nervous. Eventually the big moment came, it was my time to meet Justin, I could not believe it! I walked into his hotel room and a photographer was taking pictures of Justin. OMG he was so flawless, he didn’t even look real. This may seem weird but he was like a wax work figure – he was just that perfect!! While he was getting some quick photos Kenny shook my hand and spoke to me about Scotland. Justin began to walk over, smiling so big and when he looked into my eyes, it was unbelievable, I was at my happiest. He said “Heyyyyy, it’s nice to meet you,” with the biggest smile and took me into his arms. IT WAS THE BEST HUG EVER . My arms were wrapped around him and his arms were wrapped around me, it was so perfect! It was a long hug and we were squeezing each other tight. I didn’t want to let go of him ever! I told him how I couldn’t believe this was finally happening! We then got photos taken, he looked at me smiling and said, “I’ve got my One Time hoodie on today” and he seemed so happy about it because he knows how much the hoodie means to both him and us Beliebers . We got photos taken by the photographer and I had my arms wrapped around his waist, and his hand was on my back, and then he asked if I had a camera so we could get more photos together. He pulled me in closer to him and his face was touching mine and he was holding me, inside I was screaming. After the photos, we hugged again. When he spoke his voice was heavenly, I never thought I’d be speaking to the boy that inspires me so much. He asked me if I wanted him to sign anything so he signed my Bieber experience photo album. He wrote: ‘Holly, Believe Justin Bieber.’ He made sure it was the correct spelling of my name and he took his time to make it perfect! We spoke some more, I don’t remember exactly what about though cause I was so nervous, just like about Believe Tour etc. He gave me another big hug and went over to my mum and said, “Mom give me a hug?” She was only expecting a handshake but she got a hug, she was starstruck to be honest. I said thank you to Justin for everything, and to who organized it as well. I gave him my letter and said if he had the time to read it then that would be amazing. He said, “Awwww of course!” We said our goodbyes and when I walked out of his room I got all emotional, it was so overwhelming and I was in so much shock. I was so grateful and it was the best 10 minutes of my life! Justin’s smile was just so real, warm and when I hugged him I felt so safe. I’ll carry the memory of meeting Justin with me in my head and heart throughout the rest of my life! I’m so grateful to have had an opportunity like that and I’ll never take it for granted. To all you Beliebers who think you’ll never meet Justin trust me, you WILL. Anything is possible if you just believe. Dreams DO come true, mine did and yours will too, NEVER SAY NEVER. – @cuddlemejustin See the article here: I’m Holly, I’m from Scotland and I met Justin Bieber…
I have a fantasy that we will one day live in a world in which films that are obviously dripping with influences will no longer need to have titles. They’ll just be called ” Earthquake meets When Harry Met Sally ,” or ” The Godfather , but in space,” and filmgoers will be able to make split second decisions about seeing it without having to be advertised to. For instance, the upcoming British sci/fi horror film Storage 24 . Directed by Johannes Roberts and co-written by/starring Noel Clarke of Doctor Who fame, it has a couple who’ve just broken up meeting at a shared storage unit to divide their possessions. The meet ends in science fictional tragedy when a top secret British cargo plane crashes in London and its cargo, a scary-ass alien monster, escapes. The monster finds its way to the public storage facility in question where, so we assume, everyone inside is picked off one by one because that’s how extraterrestrial serial killers roll. The new red band trailer has just premiered, and while it does indeed suggest that Storage 24 is awesome, they could have done much more to guarantee my ass in the seat by simply calling it Die Hard + Alien + Storage Wars and forsaken the trailer altogether. See for yourself: Storage 24 is currently available on VOD, and hits theaters January 11. [ Source: i09 ] Follow Ross A. Lincoln on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
