The Situation Hopes To Go From ‘Jersey Shore’ To Big Screen

‘I would have to say that I’m looking forward to possibly doing a movie or so,’ he hints to MTV News at the American Music Awards. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Tim Kash Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Photo: Todd Williamson/ WireImage He’s got his own clothing line, a book, a couple of moneymaking trademark phrases, a hilarious abstinence commercial with Bristol Palin , a hit TV show, a couple mill in the bank and, of course, those abs. But what “Jersey Shore” breakout star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino really wants to do is … act. MTV News caught up with the former underwear model on the red carpet at Sunday night’s American Music Awards , where the Sitch told us he’s got his eye on jumping to the big screen. “In the upcoming year, I would have to say that I’m looking forward to possibly doing a movie or so,” Sorrentino said. Asked what kind or roles he’s coveting, the onetime “Dancing With the Stars” contestant teased, “I want to surprise everybody. They might be coming to something soon.” While an action movie would seem to be the way to go for the buff GTL fanatic, Sitch was cagey on that angle, saying it could be a shoot-’em-up situation — or something entirely different. “It could be something in the middle. I don’t know. … Hopefully it works out. Other than that, there could be also some reality in the future as well. I’m right in between, I don’t know. I’m like in college right now, about to graduate. I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe I’ll stay another year, maybe I’ll graduate, I don’t know.” In the meantime, he’s focused on hawking his book, “Here’s the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting in Your GTL on the Jersey Shore,” and he recently told MTV News that the sky’s the limit for him. “I’ve realized what I want to do in life in that I just love being in front of the camera,” he said. “I love being an entertainer. It’s almost been a lifelong journey to find out what I wanted to do. I’m so happy to be here, and everything’s been going great.” What kind of movie would you like to see the Situation in? Enrique Iglesias To Perform ‘Raunchier’ New Single At AMAs

The pop star says ‘Tonight’ is ‘a little bit dirtier’ than his previous songs. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Enrique Iglesias rehearses for the AMAs on Thursday in Los Angeles Photo: Kevin Winter/ AMA2010/ Getty Images Enrique Iglesias will be making quite the statement when he takes the stage to perform at the American Music Awards on Sunday. The Spanish pop star will not only be singing his “Jersey Shore”-approved hit single, “I Like It,” but also his much naughtier new tune, “Tonight.” For those not familiar with the club jam, “Tonight” finds Iglesias making a very interesting offer to a lady, as he sings, “Please excuse me/ I don’t mean to be rude/ But tonight I’m f—ing you.” There’s really no subtext in the tune. “I’m singing my new single, which is called ‘Tonight,’ and it features Ludacris,” the singer explained to MTV News at his AMA rehearsal on Thursday. “It’s a little bit dirtier and raunchier than the things I’ve done in the past, but I like it. That’s what I feel. I felt good about it.” Most certainly, Iglesias will change the song’s catchphrase to the radio-approved “Tonight I’m loving you.” Regardless of the edit, he explained that the tune’s risqu

Tony Yayo Says 50 Cent’s Beef With Fat Joe Is ‘My Problem’ Too

‘If you really dislike 50, then you really dislike Yayo,’ he says on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tony Yayo on “RapFix Live” on Thursday Photo: Jonathan Goldner/MTV News Tony Yayo wants to make it clear how the beef between 50 Cent and Fat Joe spills over to the rest of the G-Unit crew: “I didn’t have a problem with Fat Joe; 50 did,” Yayo explained Thursday (September 23) on “RapFix Live.” “So now it’s my problem.” Fat Joe and 50 Cent have been trading barbs in rhyme and during interviews for years now. When the Terror Squad lyricist appeared on “RapFix Live” last month, he said there’s little chance the dispute with Fif could end peacefully. “The day 50 Cent want to lock up with me in a bathroom and do this like men, we can hug each other and keep it moving the day after that,” Joe said, referring to a one-on-one fight. Yayo, however, dismissed Joe’s notion. The G-Unit soldier said the idea of a straight-up battle is unheard of in his Queens, New York, neighborhood and said he’d jump into a fight with 50 against Fat Joe. “Where I’m from, there’s no such thing as a fair one,” he explained. “If that man is fighting, you fighting too. That’s just how it is. Like [Joe] said, he don’t know where [the beef] started from. Whatever beef 50 got with him, that’s his issue. But 50 is my homie, and it is what it is.” When asked if the issue between 50 and Joe could exist solely between the two men, Yayo didn’t think so. “If you really dislike 50, then you really dislike Yayo,” he said. ” ‘Cause anybody that doesn’t like 50 isn’t gonna like Yayo. There goes the answer right there. If I see you, you see me, something might potentially happen.” What do you think about the ongoing beef between 50 Cent and Fat Joe? Kanye West Is ‘Stepping Backwards’ For New Music, Q-Tip Says

‘He’s looking forward but reaching back, which is interesting,’ he tells XXL. By James Dinh Kanye West Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Utilizing Auto-Tune and the electro-pop trend, Kanye West took a musical departure with his last album, 808s & Heartbreak. But the rapper is heading back to his early roots with his new album, according to collaborator Q-Tip. “This album is, in a good way, going backwards,” Q-Tip told XXL magazine of the project. “He’s such an artist. He knows exactly what he’s doing. When he did [ 808s & Heartbreak ], that was such a departure from College Dropout. But now he’s stepping backwards, so this album will be more of a sonic extension of College Dropout and Graduation, but he’s doing it with a new attitude.” The Tribe Called Quest member explained that West is attempting to mix his sound of the past yet simultaneously cover new ground. “He’s looking forward but reaching back, which is interesting,” Q-Tip told the magazine. “It’s a calculated toe in yesterday’s water, if that makes any sense at all.” In July, ‘Ye spoke about the inspiration behind the yet-untitled project. “Everyone says all great art comes from pain, but I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy,” he said. “It’s a completely different perspective about being extremely excited about stuff that is only cool to me.” The LP, which is due in stores later this fall, is set to feature additional production credits from DJ Premier, Pete Rock and No I.D. Lead single “Power” finds the rapper taking on the media, haters and everyone in between. As the project has gained momentum, West has treated fans to a slew of new tracks including “Monster,” featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj; “Devil in a New Dress” ; and “G.O.O.D. Friday,” featuring Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean and Charlie Wilson. More than likely, West will perform his new material when he serves as the musical guest on the Bryan Cranston-hosted “Saturday Night Live” episode October 2. Sean Penn Hits Back At Wyclef Jean

‘I would caution Mr. Jean against research, or prospective policy, by sound bite,’ he writes in a Huffington Post essay. By Gil Kaufman Wyclef Jean announces his run for President of Haiti Photo: Frederic Dupoux/ Getty Images Wyclef Jean’s brief but colorful attempt to get on the presidential ballot for the upcoming post-earthquake election in Haiti is over, but the controversy continues. While Jean, 40, was garnering international headlines for his fight to get on the ballot in his native country — he has lived in New York since age 9 — behind the scenes, a more intense battle was apparently brewing with a man you definitely don’t want to mess with: actor and activist Sean Penn . The notoriously short-fused Oscar winner aired his grievances with Jean in an essay for the Huffington Post on Wednesday (August 25), in which he took the former Fugees leader to task for turning their disagreement into a fake “sensationalized celebrity feud,” contesting the country’s electoral laws in the wake of his rejected bid (when he didn’t seem to have any opinion on them before) and for not spending his more time on the ground in Haiti helping those in need in the wake of January’s quake. Penn, who has lived in a small tent outside the crumbled capital of Port-au-Prince for much of the past six months, wrote, “I have never met Wyclef Jean, and all I really know of him on any personal level has come through the fond comments of a few mutual friends. Hence, nothing I might say, was in ANY way personal, or intended to be lambasting to anyone,” he wrote, referring to comments he made on CNN earlier this month reacting to Jean’s announcement of his presidential bid. “My comments were critical observations of a political candidate and a leader of an organization in Haiti.” Penn — who joins ‘Clef’s former Fugees partner Pras in questioning the logic behind the presidential run — also takes issue with the publicist hired by Jean, who he said has worked to “make the case that Wyclef Jean gave indispensable world attention” to Haiti’s incredible misfortune. “I was there for those six months after the earthquake and so many of us on the ground wondered where he was when that kind of attention was so necessary and absent, and why he was NOT helping to keep this desperate situation in the news,” Penn wrote. “None among us felt or expressed anger toward it, but rather a universal sadness for his silence, as he is America’s most admired cultural link to Haiti. As the six-month anniversary approached, it triggered the return of the world media, and of Wyclef Jean to Haiti. He’d referred to himself as ‘His Excellency Wyclef Jean’ and ‘The most famous man in Haiti’ on a self-generated flier in the lead-up to his troubling announcement.” The actor explained that on a recent appearance on the “Larry King Show,” he was expressing his concerns about the American media’s support of Jean’s run despite a lack of critical questions about it “simply because they were familiar with him.” He also said that though current laws put limitations on the contribution of “Haitians returning to their own country following an education abroad,” it would have been more valuable had Wyclef drawn attention to that fact at another time “or in a less divisive ambition. However, the only attention that Haiti seems to be getting today is on a presidential campaign of personality that threatens to create a new swell of social unrest in a plagued country. I would caution Mr. Jean against research, or prospective policy, by sound bite.” Penn noted that he’s been running a non-governmental organization while living in a 55,000-person camp in Haiti and that his organization has distributed “thousands of water filters, food, medicine, medical supplies and volunteers” throughout Port-au-Prince over the past six months. Jean said on “Larry King” that his Yele Haiti organization has raised $9 million to date for Haitian relief. Jean’s publicist, Marian Salzman, sent MTV News an e-mail response to Penn’s comments on Wednesday afternoon: “I am flattered he knows my name and more flattered that Wyclef called to sing [sic] me,” she wrote. “I’m sorry since we’re surprised by the anger over a disagreement between people who all care deeply about Haiti. Not sure why we need to argue versus hunker down and demand human rights and a positive Haitian future?” The actor was also clearly miffed by a comment Jean made on the “Gayle King Show” on August 9, in which he said he wanted to tell Penn, “I do not react on emotions when it comes to the Haitian people. I do not have to sacrifice my life and live inside of a tent to prove that I am for the Haitian people.” That drew this sharp response: “No, he doesn’t have to live in a tent. But it would be nice if he visited once and awhile.” He ends by pointing again to the “Larry King” interview and asking readers to ponder Jean’s response to questions about his residency in Haiti (he says he lives in the United States) and his fluency in French and Creole (he suggests the nation’s people should also learn English), the island’s native languages. “Yes, I still support those Haitians who believe in him. But, I recommend that Mr. Jean and his advisers keep their future musings on more important topics than discrediting someone involved with a really good NGO,” Penn said. “The real and devastating human issues in Haiti must be handled and led by a qualified president’s deft hand. These elections are crucial, and I have no part in them. Neither should Mr. Jean.” What do you think about Penn and Jean’s back-and-forth? Let us know in the comments. Related Artists Wyclef Jean

By Kara Warner Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News With “Breaking Dawn” set to start filming sometime this fall, it’s only a matter of time until the “Twilight Saga” wraps up for good. So when Nikki Reed stopped by MTV News recently to talk about her upcoming indie film “Last Day of Summer,” we had to ask the actress what she’s looking forward to most when production begins on “Dawn,” the series’ two-part finale. “Just seeing everyone again,” she said. “We’ve been making these [movies] for a couple of years now, and this year seems to have gone by really fast.” Aside from the press campaigns surrounding “Eclipse,” Reed said she and her co-stars haven’t seen each other as frequently as in recent years, given their suddenly in-demand status. “We’ve all gone off and had other jobs,” she explained, adding that it is very different from a couple of years ago after the first film was released. “I found after the first ‘Twilight’ movie, we were all sitting around L.A., going ‘Hey, aren’t we supposed to work a lot? Isn’t this supposed to open doors?’ We’ve spent a lot of time together [in the past], and in this past year, I haven’t really seen anybody.” Reed said she’s most excited to be reunited with her “family” again. “Just going back to being with the family, because we love each other a lot, and I think we’re sad this is coming to an end,” she said. Kid Cudi’s ‘Man On The Moon 2’ Tops ‘Elle 25’

‘Hyercool’ Cleveland MC’s October LP is what magazine’s editors are most looking forward to by end of 2010. By Jayson Rodriguez Kid Cudi Photo: Jason Kempin/ WireImage Kid Cudi is a wanted man. The Cleveland rapper notched the top spot on “The Elle 25,” a list of things the staff of the fashion magazine is looking forward to before year’s end. In the piece, the mag’s editors rave about Cudi’s upcoming album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, which reportedly will now see the light of day in October . “A sophomore effort that up-stages his first, with booming choruses (Cudi sings — sans Auto-Tune, at that!), raging electro beats, and a rock-rooted single, ‘Erase Me,’ which features that other hypercool skinny-jean-clad rapper, Kanye West,” writes the Elle staff. A new Cudi/Kanye collaboration also leaked online over the weekend, the first offering from a mixtape effort helmed by West. “Wylin’ Cause I’m Young,” is a brooding, bass-heavy number on which the two trade woozy rhymes: “Rage, ’cause I’m paid,” Cudi raps. “Take the grey and create another shade/ Awesome, no more bitches playing possum/ Pop and lock ’em and send them all home.” The track will be featured on ‘Ye and Perajok’s upcoming G.O.O.D. Ass Mixtape (named, of course, for the rapper’s own G.O.O.D. Music label). Another Cudi track, “Mr. Rager,” also hit the Web; a snippet of the song appeared earlier. It’s tentatively slated for a spot Man on the Moon II. “Mr. Rager, Mr. Rager, tell me where you’re going, tell me where you’re heading,” Cudi sings on the slow-thumping chorus. “I’m on my way to heaven/ Mr. Rager, can we tag along?/ Can we take this journey?” What are your expectations for Kid Cudi’s new album?
