Paul Prudhomme – the famed chef best known for his various PBS cooking shows and national landmark New Orleans restaurant – has passed away at the age of 75. Prudhomme is widely credited with popularizing New Orleans-style cuisine nationwide, and some even say he’s the man most responsible for the foodie trend that’s given us everything from more exotic menu options to celebrity chefs such as Anthony Bourdain and Alton Brown. “Paul was the one who not only put Louisiana food…Cajun and Creole food, on the map, but he was also the one who started the American food revolution that flourishes today,” Louisiana chef and radio show host Poppie Tooker said today. When Prudhomme was named executive chef of the legendary New Orleans restaurant Commander’s Palace in 1975, restaurants nationwide took it as a sign that upscale establishments no longer needed a French chef at the helm in order to be taken seriously. Prudhomme went on to introduce dishes like the turducken and blackened redfish to amateur American chefs. The latter became so popular that limits had to be imposed in order to keep the redfish from going extinct. His tremendous influence is currently evident on Twitter, where professional and amateur chefs, restauranteurs and fans of good food the world over are paying tribute to the man brought the flavors of New Orleans to kitchens across the globe. Jim Carrey’s on-and-off again girlfriend Cathriona White, who took her own life late last month, reportedly attempted to do so once before. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Cathriona White tried ending her life back in 2012, following the death of her father that year. A hateful message from her biological mother may have led to her suicide. According to sources close to her, White’s friends told investigators that this came out of the blue, and may have taken the ultimate toll. On Cathriona’s birthday, just days before her suicide, she got a message from her estranged biological mother who called her a “failure.” White committed suicide on the third anniversary of her father’s death. Her mother’s verbal attack, that sad anniversary and her breakup with Jim may have all formed a perfect storm in her fragile mind. Corcoran’s niece confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly this afternoon. No cause of death was given. Corcoran got his start as a regular in Disney movies and TV shows when he was just 7 years old. He would go on to appear in dozens of projects, usually playing some variation of a character named “Moochie” – a nickname which Corcoran’s family and friends would affectionately use throughout his life. He gave his best known performances in the enduring 1957 tearjerker Old Yeller and its 1963 sequel, Savage Sam. Corcoran parted ways with Disney to attend college, but returned to Hollywood (and to the studio that made him famous) as an assistant director and producer. His second career found him working on such beloved television series as Murder, She Wrote; The Shield, and Sons of Anarchy. Corcoran was added to the exclusive list of “Disney Legends” in 2006. Marques Houston Talks “Will To Love” “Will To Love,” the romantic comedy detailing the love escapades of a rich and successful business heir who is forced to marry in 90 days, premiered on TV One just a few months ago just hit DVD on October 6th. Film stars Marques Houston , Draya Michele, and Keshia Knight Pulliam are extremely excited for even more people to catch the movie and add it to their home collections. If you aren’t quite familiar, here’s a brief plot synopsis: Jamal Hawkins is a handsome bachelor who will soon be a very wealthy man. As the primary heir to the “Let It Roll” toilet paper corporation, Jamal is set to inherit his grandfather’s empire. Jamal’s world comes crashing down when he discovers that his grandfather has placed a stipulation on his inheritance. The bachelor must find a wife before his grandfather passes away within the next 90 days. As a man who doesn’t believe in marriage, Jamal is lost on what to do. Matters are further exacerbated by Jamal’s conniving half sister, Monica, who calculates a way to steal the corporation right from under her sibling’s nose. In an effort to help, Jamal’s best friend, Danny, devises a plan to fool Jamal’s family and find a suitable wife as soon as possible. With the aid of his new secretary, Rachel, Danny’s one time fling, the trio comes together to hold a casting call for women of all shapes, types, colors and creeds, that might meet his grandfather’s high standards. Actor/singer and now first time scriptwriter and producer Marques Houston wrote and produced the film himself. We caught up with the Film’s star to find out more about his inspiration for the movie. Tell us more about your character Jamal. Jamal is a very successful, wealthy guy who is really all about running hims grandfather’s business. So when he’s faced with this big thing in front of him — finding love — he thinks “How? I don’t even know what that looks like,” because he’s a confirmed bachelor and love just isn’t on his radar. So being that you wrote and produced this movie yourself, did you draw on any of your own experience as a hard-working bachelor? The character of Jamal is actually very very far from who I am — I’m a lover and I love to be in relationships, so it’s a very opposite character for me. But when writing and being creative you come up with different characters. Of course I draw on some of my own experience — I’ve been a bachelor before. I’m definitely a workaholic but when it comes to love, I have more of an openness to it, because that’s important too. I’m a relationship guy, I love being in love. So it’s very different. You worked closely on this project with your long-time collaborator Chris Stokes and also your longtime friends Draya Michele and Keshia Knight-Pulliam. What was your experience working with long-term friends? Draya was really cool. This was actually her first time acting, and she did an amazing job. It’s great to work with people that you know. I’ve known Keshia for years and years as well. As For Chris Stokes, he was very serious about directing. I will say that. Was there a huge difference in working with him on a film rather than on music? Just a bit, only because directors have to run the set. So in that sense, he had the most pressure on him. Married Doctor Dies After Drug-Filled Night In NYC A well-respected NJ dermatologist was found half-naked and unconscious in the foyer of a New York apartment building during the wee hours of Sunday morning. Initially, authorities were confused as to how and why the married Mother of three ended up in such a situation…until a sordid tale of an apparent extramarital affair with a television producer and wild, recreational drug use slowly began to come to light. Via NY Post : A supposed “girls night out” for a married doctor turned into a deadly drug binge with an Emmy-nominated HBO producer in his dealer’s Chelsea apartment, police sources told The Post on Monday. Pretty dermatologist Kiersten Rickenbach Cerveny, 38, a mother of three, is believed to have suffered a fatal cocaine overdose while partying with Marc Henry Johnson in the wee hours Sunday morning, sources said. Surveillance video shows Johnson, who is also married, carrying Cerveny down the stairs inside 223 W. 16th St. with the help of ex-con James Holder, sources said. The video also shows the men dropping or dumping the former beauty-pageant princess in the vestibule at around 8:30 a.m., then going their separate ways outside. Johnson — who is currently producing “The Deuce,” a pilot for an HBO series about the porn industry starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal — called 911, and paramedics tried in vain to revive Cerveny, the sources said. “She came out topless,” a building resident said. “Her face was white and her lips were blue. They were doing chest compressions.” And it seems that no one had any idea that Cerveny got down this way at all… Angelo Pappas, 46, a New York City teacher, said he often saw Cerveny and her husband jogging with their kids in a stroller at 6 a.m. “You’re talking about a person who looks very healthy, working out. Yes, doctors who have spoken with Radar Online say that it’s their professional opinion that Jessica has gotten a boob job . “Jessica has clearly had a significant breast augmentation,” says plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Glatt, who – it should be noted – has never treated Jessica himself. “She has likely also had a breast lift.” Dr. Fred Pescatore seconds that opinion, but a much less professional, much Howard Stern-esque fashion. “She looks ridiculous at this point — boobs on a stick!” says Pescatore, who better be a flawless physical specimen if he’s going around talking that kind of crap.
