Kerry Simon, a former Iron Chef star known by his peers as the “Rock ’n’ Roll Chef,” died on Friday morning succumbing to Multiple System Atrophy. He was 60 years old. Close friend Robin Leach confirmed Simon’s passing via a column in The Las Vegas Sun. “We will always remember Kerry fondly,” Leach wrote. “He was a gentle man who will be missed greatly. He was still young and handsome at 60 years of age. He didn’t smoke or drink alcohol, preferring his favorite juices regimen.” Simon battled this terrible disease for two years and passed away in a hospice, surrounded by two Tibetan monks. He won the 2005 season of Iron Chef and owned several restaurants in locations such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Atlantic City. Simon began culinary career in the late 1908s back when Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana, tasked him with running the Plaza Hotel’s Edwardian Room.
