Kara DioGuardi Announces ‘American Idol’ Exit

‘I feel like now is the best time to leave ‘Idol,’ ‘ songwriter says. By Mawuse Ziegbe Kara DioGuardi Photo: Frank Micelotta/Getty Images/ FOX The Great “American Idol” Judge Shake-Up continues. Kara DioGuardi has been announced as the latest talent critic to exit the show in recent months. After joining “Idol” in its eighth season, the songwriter said in a statement on Friday (September 3) that she won’t be returning for season 10. “I felt like I won the lottery when I joined ‘American Idol’ two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave ‘Idol,’ ” DioGuardi said. “I am very proud to have been associated with ‘American Idol’ — it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to Fox, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on season 10!” DioGuardi didn’t elaborate on her next step, but “Idol” producers wished the songwriter well in her future projects. “Kara is one of the world’s best songwriters,” “Idol” creator Simon Fuller said in the release. “She has been passionate and committed to ‘Idol’ over the last two seasons. I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come.” “As one of the most proclaimed songwriters in the U.S., Kara brought a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to ‘American Idol,’ ” “Idol” executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz added. “We are very grateful for the time she spent on the show, and we wish her nothing but the best in all her future endeavors.” The announcement confirms months of rumors that DioGuardi would not return for the show’s upcoming season. In July, reports surfaced that “Idol” producers were dropping the songwriter and mounting a return to a three-judge panel. In August, DioGuardi’s father said she heard the news that she was being edged out of the show the same way millions of “Idol” fans did: through the media. “She read [about her supposed firing] the way you and I did. Her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated, and she feels that’s not proper,” Joe DiGuardi said on the TV show “Capital Tonight.” DioGuardi is the latest judge to exit the Fox ratings magnet. In January, outspoken longtime judge Simon Cowell announced his departure to helm the American version of the British talent show “The X Factor.” In July, comedienne Ellen DeGeneres jumped ship after one season, citing a packed schedule, among other issues. Insane Clown Posse Talk Tila Tequila, Method Man Incidents At The Gathering

‘We’ve got nothing but love for Method Man and Redman,’ Violent J tells MTV News. By Kyle Anderson Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope Photo: MTV News Back at the beginning of August, one of the biggest music festivals of the year took place over a long weekend in Illinois. No, not Lollapalooza — the 11th annual Gathering of the Juggalos, the four-day extravaganza curated by and starring the Insane Clown Posse. The festival has grown in both size and stature over the past few years, in part because of the online success of trailers that tout the festival and in part because of its increasingly eclectic lineups. But this year, the Gathering picked up some attention for more negative reasons. A good portion of the mainstream media coverage of the festival reported on the injuries suffered by reality star and sometimes rapper . She suffered a number of injuries and threatened to sue ICP, though according to Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J, nothing of that sort has happened. The pair regret what happened to Tequila and are still trying to figure out her motivation. “The only reason she got hurt was that she stayed up on stage. It was obvious they didn’t want her there, so why did she stay up there?” ICP member Violent J told MTV News. “It was a shame, because all she had to do was get off the stage,” he continued. “Nobody said, ‘You have to get on there and stay up there to get paid.’ The way I understand it, they paid her before she got up there and they said, ‘There’s a rumor you’re not wanted here, and you’re free to take off if you like.’ She went up there and stayed up there anyway.” Legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper Method Man also suffered a facial laceration after getting hit with flying debris during his performance with partner Redman. That bothered the men of ICP, because they feel it misrepresented the tenor of their fans. “What happened to Method Man — that shouldn’t even be discussed, because that was one a–hole,” Violent J said. “One d—head threw something, and by chance, it hit [Method Man] in the face. But he wasn’t speaking for Juggalos or for ICP or the Gathering. And they weren’t getting bombed up there — it was one a–hole.” “That kid shouldn’t have thrown something and should have played the lottery instead,” added Shaggy 2 Dope. “Same chances.” But while ICP aren’t sure what their status is with Tequila, their relationship with Meth is copacetic. “We’ve got nothing but love for Method Man and Redman, and we’ve talked to them since then. We talked to them that night and we talked to him just the other day,” J told MTV News. “And if we had caught the kid who threw that, he’d a got it.” Related Artists Insane Clown Posse Method Man Tila Tequila

‘The Other Guys’ Uses Michael Moore Tactics to Vilify CEOs, Investors, Wall Street

When the credits are the most intriguing part of the movie, there’s a problem. In the new film “The Other Guys,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, two mismatched cops try to make a name for themselves by investigating a potential Ponzi scheme run by a corrupt investor. The villain is a pseudo-Bernie Madoff but rather than vilifying a single fraud, director Adam McKay (“Anchorman,” “Step Brothers”) lumped all investors together and attacked Wall Street as a whole. “The Other Guys” is a funny but not hilarious movie for 1 hour and 47 minutes but instead of simply rolling the credits and letting viewers leave smiling, McKay followed with graphics criticizing Wall Street and corporate executives. It was almost as if Michael Moore filmed the closing credits, as graphics included the anatomy of a Ponzi scheme, the ratio of CEO to employee salaries, a comparison of the New York Police Department’s pension fund to an average CEO’s pension fund, an average worker’s 401(k) account compared to a CEO’s, and the amount of taxes Goldman Sachs paid after the bailout. While the credits provided the most egregious anti-business attacks, there were other subtle pokes at business and Republicans within the film. For example, the villain, named David Ershon (whose last name rhymes eerily with ‘Enron’), is seen in a photograph with former President George W. Bush and is said to be friends with conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Other chides included Ershon stealing from both the lottery and the NYPD pension fund — essentially stealing money from the state and a labor union — and the villains’ drive SUV’s while the heroes drive a Toyota Prius. The film grossed $35.5 million its opening weekend and has been a hit with film critics in the liberal media. According to  rottentomatoes.com , “The Other Guys” has a 77 percent “fresh” rating from critics, with The Washington Post giving it a B and Entertainment Weekly giving it an A-. Of course, the film reviewers have reveled in the anti-Wall Street message, such as Entertainment Weekly’s Owen Gleiberman: “A Wall Street villain (Steve Coogan) who embodies the sins of our time with a relative absence of cheek.” A.O. Scott, film critic for The New York Times, was disappointed by the “tease” of the end credits and pined for a stronger attack: “It may be that no team can humble the unrepentant fat cats of the financial sector, but it would be nice to give Mr. Ferrell and Mr. Wahlberg a shot.” In a way, Scott is correct: the film would have been a fun, goofy movie but the end credits suggested something more. It was almost as if McKay was adamant about attacking Wall Street but wasn’t confident that the film’s plot executed his attack, so he included the graphics at the end to reinforce his message. Given that McKay is a guest blogger for The Huffington Post and Ferrell’s history of impersonating Bush, another Hollywood film with a liberal agenda shouldn’t be a surprise. As the Business & Media Institute noted, TV characters are  21 times more likely to be killed by a businessman than the mob , and  50 percent of the villains  in 2005’s Oscar-nominated movies were businessmen. However, these movies relied on their plots and characters to promote their liberal agendas rather than colorful graphics over the end credits. Like this article? Eva Mendes in Another Funny or Die Bullshit Video of the Day

Will Farrell owns Funny or Die. Eva Mendes is in his new movie that he’s hoping will be the comeback he needs since all his movies are irritating as fuck and some people can’t handle the fact that they are irrelevant, even if they have a popular website, so in trying to make his movie huge, he is using his hot bodied costar on his website to get any traction he can and unfortunately his movie is going to be a huge deal cuz people are idiots and buy into anything they are told to, but at least I get to see more Eva Mendes as she’s part of his promo campaign…something I never get bored of even if I get real irritated by it and it’s unfunniness.

Cheryl Cole’s Legs in Shorts of the Day

Cheryl Cole is wearing shorts. It is summer. So are many girls. Some with equally ugly prison tattoos they got back when they were stripping. Others with milky skin I dream about tainting with my seed. All equally relevant thanks to the one thing they have in common…their vaginas….that’s all I have to say about that… Pics via Bauer

Simon Cowell’s Gold Digger’s Ass in a Bikini of the Day

This bitch has won the lottery. All she has to do to collect is put up with Simon Cowell and make the motherfucker think she is real down with everything he does, stroking his ego properly, using her American Idol make-up artist skills to make dude feel pretty, you know giving him constant blowjobs, and sucking up to him almost hypnotizing him into thinking this is something his self-involved self could stick with forever, so that he marries her officially…cuz we all know she got into celebrity make-up artistry to meet celebrities, land one, and hopefully get him to commit so that she lives the good life and I am sure Cowell isn’t her first run with someone rich and famous, he just happens to be the richest and the only one dumb enough to marry the social climbing, gold digging, whore. There are a few rules I’ve learned in fucking whores. The first is that no matter how good they are at manipulating you into getting repeat business, never exclusively go to them, cuz the second you are sucked the fuck in, they own your fucking ass and you might as well just take off your condom and sign over your life to her…only to get broken 6 months down the line when you catch her doing the same thing to someone else, cuz it’s all she knows. ‘The Lottery’ Exposes Truth About Public Schools

The children eager to attend Harlem Success Academies don’t care about partisan politics or ideological turf wars. They just want the best education possible. “ The Lottery ,” a new documentary by Madeleine Sackler, showcases families desperate for an alternative to the New York Public School system. The film, playing an exclusive engagement through July 15 at the Starz FilmCenter in Denver , follows four such families who enter a lottery system so their children can attend a prestigious charter school. Strip away the interpersonal dynamics and you’ll find a full-throated argument on behalf of charter schools. And those who think only Republicans support school choice measures will be surprised to see a large  number of Democrats eager to give charter schools a try. It’s an alternately fascinating and maddening film experience, and Sackler delivers the material with an elegant touch. It’s also a must-see for parents with school-age children – or just taxpayers saddened at the thought of children not reaching their potential. The families included here put a human face on the issue, but the film would be better served if we got to know them a little better. The quick glimpses at their lives – and dreams – tell us just enough about the stakes at play. Sackler intersperses sobering statistics throughout her film, showing how the charter schools in question offers a major upgrade from the status quo. But the film’s twin highlights come when Eva Moskowitz, the articulate founder of Harlem Success Academies, takes on her critics at two public forums. Viewers may lunge for their blood pressure meds as union lackeys play fast and loose with the facts, and double down on the race card, in order to defend a broken system. “The Lottery” is the second recent documentary to slam teachers unions. “The Cartel” examined New Jersey’s disgraceful public school system, blaming unions for much of the waste and horrific grades. “Waiting for Superman,” another documentary trumpeting the need for educational reform, will be released this fall. It’s hardly an accident. Parents are fed up with the sorry state of modern education and see school choice as a possible way out. And documentary filmmakers are following suit. “The Lottery” doesn’t traffic in the bait-and-switch stylings of a Michael Moore opus, but it’s still a one-sided affair. It isn’t entirely Sackler’s fault. The director recently told this critic she tried – and tried – to include union backers in the film for an entire year. But those sources refused to participate. Still, more neutral education experts might have added context to the arguments on display. And while Moskowitz is an ideal spokeswoman for the charter system, she’s given too much screen time given her intimate connection to the school in question. “The Lottery” is the kind of film that could very well change some stubborn hearts and minds. Political ideology – and knee-jerk sympathies – fall aside when you see families crying in relief as their names are plucked from “The Lottery.” Crossposted at Big Hollywood

Jessica Simpson Baby News: Coming Someday!

Sitting in on an OK! Magazine staff meeting would be so awesome. There’s an element to celebrity gossip that is always, well, gossip. You take what you read with a grain of salt. But there’s gossip, and there’s deliberately and wholly inventing cover stories, misleading readers with vague text and exclamation points. Guess Jessica Simpson’s name came up in the lottery this week, or the darts landed on her, because she’s apparently having a baby! Would you believe that the same story was reported almost verbatim last week, only about Jennifer Aniston ? It’s true! Doubly joyful news! CONFIRMED : OK! wrote a cover story! Consider it REVEALED! According to this fine publication, as Jessica nears her 30th birthday this week, she has a new man ( Eric Johnson ) and a new plan – to become a mother! The first part of that is true, at least. But then there’s this line: “Enjoying an early birthday celebration at the Greenbrier Casino Club gala opening in West Virginia on July 4, Jess caused a stir with her visible bump !” No word if they mean a visible bump on her head or knee. Seriously, time to get a little more creative with your made-up nonsense, guys. You’re going to be labeled the magazine that cried fake-pregnant wolf.

The Bachelorette Studfinder: Single Jake Pavelka Crashes the Party

Like a good short story, a recurring motif ran through last night’s Bachelorette episode — and, like Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery , that theme was creepy anxiety. Kirk was so “nervous” as he held Ali in a stupid blanket, Frank emitted his usual asthma bubbles, and Roberto worried that he’s too skilled a salsaman for this whole damn thing. Tension! Also: Jake and Vienna anxiously reunited to talk about how their relationship was magical until a Lifetime movie took over and it turned out Jake had murdered some nuns (or something). Since he’s single now, we have no choice but to include him in this weeks stud rankings. Join us for the stud rundown!
