Lovato, 19, who used to cut herself and who has battled eating disorders, appears on an episode of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show scheduled to air Tuesday. She says she wants to be “outspoken” and freely talk about her “issues” because when she grew up, she “was dealing with the pressures to be thin.” “It was the time in the tabloids when very, very skinny girls were on the cover of every magazine, and that’s what I was looking up to,” she says. “That’s what I had to idolize. I don’t want that for young girls.” While she calls her old life a “mess,” right now, it is what it is. In fact, at this point, she’s actually grateful for her “meltdown.” “So many things were going great in my life, and then all of a sudden my personal life just went down at crazy speeds,” the “Skyscraper” singer says. “I had a negative breakdown and it changed my life forever.” “But if I hadn’t gone into treatment,” she continues, “I don’t know if, one, I’d even be sitting here today, [or] two, if I’d even be alive today.” We’re so grateful that she is, and hope that young people can take what she says seriously. Alright, I’ve gone through a boatload of 2011 MTV Video Music Awards pictures from last night and have sorted them out as best I can. Not by the winners and loser, who cares about that, but by cleavage. Here are Kim Kardashian , JWoWW and Demi Lovato dropping some awesome boobage on the red carpet. Perhaps this explains why Demi Lovato has battled so many personal demons… In an interview with E! News last night, the 19-year old singer was asked about that network’s reason for existence: Kim Kardashian . She replied:””She’s been a friend of mine for a little bit and she’s like a big sister to me.” Kim introduced Demi at the Do Something Awards earlier this month, a performance by Lovato you can view HERE . Elsewhere, Lovato touched on her constant battle and how she manages to maintain mental health these days. “I surround myself with people that are beneficial in my recovery and my recovery is still a daily battle and I definitely hang out with people that support me in making the right decisions,” Lovato said . “I’m a happier and healthier person today because of the choices I’ve made.” We wish her the best of luck with all those choices.
