Demi Lovato is continuing to open up about her recent stint in rehab and the basis for her stay there. First, the singer/actress admitted she’s battled an eating disorder for years, later adding that she’s cut herself since the age of 11 and is leaving Sonny with a Chance to battle these demons. Now, the 18-year is opening up again to the public, making an admission to People : “I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar,” she tells the magazine . “There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning.” Last week, Catherine Zeta-Jones sought professional help for the same disease, as Demi Tweeted her support of that star. She says she’s taking positive steps in her life to turn things around. “I feel like I am in control now where my whole life I wasn’t in control… What’s important for me now is to help others.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Things got awfully heated on Good Morning America yesterday as Donald Trump discussed his potential presidential run with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. In short, George took him to task and the Donald didn’t appreciate it. Stephanopoulos mentioned that some Republican heavyweights call him a “flawed messenger for the party” and “a joke candidate.” Why do they think this? By continuing to question President Obama’s birth certificate and citizenship. Trump replied by … going off about Obama’s citizenship. You gotta see this: Donald Trump GMA Interview As the two men argued back and forth on the topic, an increasingly agitated Trump accused George of being “co-opted” by the President and his “minions.” He stressed that the “birther” issue is “not a big focus of my campaign.” Kind of hard to believe, since he brought it up again, and again later in the interview. Stephanopoulos asked if he would release tax returns. “Maybe I’ll do the tax returns when Obama does his birth certificate,” the real estate mogul replied. Triple poll time after the jump, readers : Is Obama a natural-born citizen? Is Trump racist? Should Trump run for President?
Move over, Jenelle Evans . One of the cast members on 16 & Pregnant was paid a visit by cops yesterday after allegedly socking her baby daddy in the face. Officials in Hillsborough County, Fla., responded to a battery call at the home of 19-year-old Josh Smith after Jennifer Del Rio, 17, allegedly came after him. Smith told the police that he was trying to break things off with Jennifer when she became “irate” and “punched him in the face and pulled on his shirt.” Smith says he eventually pushed Del Rio away in self-defens e. Not good for the couple, who aren’t exactly strangers to this behavior . Smith was arrested back in November for allegedly attacking HER and was ordered to complete a domestic violence program. So they’ve got issues. Sounds a little like Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley redux, no?
Demi Lovato is leaving Sonny With a Chance, the show that’s made her a star on the Disney Channel. She’ll instead focus on her pop career – and recovery. Given the actress sought treatment recently for “physical and emotional issues,” and confessed to cutting herself since age 11 , a change might do her good. “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music,” Lovato tells People . “It’s sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended .” “However, there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.” The “nervous breakdown” she suffered last October while touring with the Jonas Brothers – an episode that led her to check into rehab is still fresh in her mind. “I don’t think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery,” admitted the 18-year-old actress. “Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.” In a frank interview with ABC’s Good Morning America and 20/20 set to air Friday, Lovato acknowledges a lifelong struggle with an eating disorder and cutting. Hopefully she continues to get the help she needs to live a happier and healthier life, and moving on from Sonny With a Chance is the best means to do so. [Photo: WENN.com]
‘First day back to working,’ singer tweets, without revealing details of project. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: George Pimentel/ Getty Images Demi Lovato is ready to work again. The star, who recently checked out of a treatment center after dealing with personal issues, tweeted on Tuesday that she’s back to doing something, without revealing what her next big gig is. “First day back to working. I can’t wait to share with you guys what I’m doing today,” she wrote on Twitter . “It’s a big day for me. So excited! I love you all!!!” While she didn’t say what she was doing, she did reveal whom she was doing it with. “Wow what a very long but successful day today!! I’m SO blessed to have my friend @Alexavega with me ALL day for support!” she wrote, tweeting a photo of her and the “Spy Kids” star together. “Seriously so blessed for the friends in my life. Love them, AND love you guys too!!” Her reps remained mum on what the project is when contacted by MTV News, but E! News reports that Disney reps confirmed that Lovato is not back on the “Sonny With a Chance” set. Earlier this month, Lovato teased a new project in a similarly mysterious way, not getting into the specifics of what she was planning next. “I wanted to let you guys know that I’m excited to get back to work. I can’t wait to tell you guys what the future holds,” she said. “I can’t wait to see you in person. I love you all and I couldn’t have done this without you.” In addition to the new gig, Lovato recently revealed some new body art. “The journey that I went through and the support of my fans was so meaningful to me that I wanted to thank my fans in a way that I know can never be forgotten,” the explained. “So I went ahead and I got a little heart tattoo on my wrist. “It’s something that my fans were actually drawing on their wrists while I was still in treatment. Some people even got tattoos of it, so I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you guys gave me,” Lovato added. Demi Lovato has also reportedly donated $1 million to relief efforts. By Gil Kaufman Sandra Bullock Photo: Ethan Miller/ WireImage Sandra Bullock has opened her pocketbook in a major way to pitch in for disaster relief in Japan. As the situation in the country grows more dire a week after a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami reduced many towns in the north to rubble and unleashed a potential nuclear meltdown at a power plant, Bullock has sent a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross. According to CNN , the donation by the Oscar-winning actress on behalf of her family is the biggest celebrity pledge the Red Cross has gotten so far (though it may have received larger contributions that were kept confidential at the donors’ request). So far, the American Red Cross says it has raised around $47 million in the U.S. since last Friday’s quake, with $10 million already passed on to the Japanese Red Cross to help victims on the ground. The Celebuzz site reported that Demi Lovato has also ponied up a $1 million check to help Japanese relief efforts and is encouraging her fans to donate as well. The site posted a picture of Lovato holding up a homemade Japanese flag with the words “please help” written in black magic marker in the middle. A spokesperson for Lovato could not be reached for confirmation of the $1 million figure at press time. The pair join a list of celebs who’ve offered help and kind words to Japan, including Katy Perry , Lady Gaga, Joe and Nick Jonas, “Twilight” star Ashley Greene, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus. For more information on what you can do to help with earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan, head to MTV Act , or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Singer, who left treatment in January, will speak via Cambio.com. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic Demi Lovato has remained on the down low since leaving a treatment facility in late January. Fans have been wondering what is next for the Disney star, and now it seems they will find out. According to Cambio.com , the singer will appear on the site Monday in “a special video message to all her fans.” “This will be the first time since leaving treatment that Demi will speak directly to her fans to thank them for their support,” the statement reads. “Demi is excited to be getting back to work and reuniting with her fans around the world.” The news comes on the heels of an interview in which her “Sonny With a Chance” co-star Brandon Mychal Smith confirmed that the show’s name was set to be changed to “So Random,” the name of the show the characters in “Sonny” work on. “With a show like ours, each season you focus on a different concept, a different theory, or maybe a different character’s background,” Smith said. “Season one, we established who we were — you saw some mini-sketches, you saw who the characters were and how they mingled and intertwined. Season two, you were able to see more of the relationship between Sonny and Chad and how they got into it and how we didn’t like it, and you saw some of Mackenzie Falls and that aspect. “And now, this season,” he continued, “you’ll be able to see ‘So Random,’ see why we are where we are today in regards to being the teen idols that we are. You’ll be able to see how we bring the funny every week.” With questions about what that means for Lovato and her role on the show, Disney told MTV News, “Demi’s management will inform us when she is ready to return to work. Last November, we announced that we would focus on our ‘So Random’ sketch-comedy show to keep the staff, cast and crew employed. We began production in January and will debut those episodes this spring. As you know, Disney Channel previously aired ‘So Random’ specials to strong ratings.” What are you hoping to see from Demi Lovato now that she’s finished treatment? Share your thoughts below.
