Demi Lovato Says Frankie Jonas Has ‘Swag Like Justin Bieber’

By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News When fans tune in to “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” this Friday, they may be surprised to see that the fourth Jonas brother, 9-year-old Frankie, has a part in the sequel to the hit 2008 flick “Camp Rock.” And co-star Demi Lovato says that the kid has some swagger. “He’s the biggest rock star of all of them,” she told MTV News. “He’s got swag like Justin Bieber and he rocks out like Mick Jagger, so he’s kind of a combination of the two. He’s kind of like the ultimate rock star. Watch out, Justin Timberlake!” While he may be as cool as Bieber, the Bonus Jonas says that of all his brothers, he most relates to Joe . “We never bully. We never even fight. We just have little bickers,” he said. “I’m most like Joe because I’ve been a role model with him ever since we lived in Wyckoff, New Jersey.” And much like Joe, Frankie would love a career in Hollywood. “I would like to pursue my acting career and do a little music in the middle,” he explained. Having now starred in “Camp Rock 2,” lent his voice to “Ponyo” and made appearances on “JONAS,” it seems Frankie is well on his way to catching up with his brothers in the fame department. However, he still needs some encouraging words from his superstar brothers to keep him focused on his way to the top. “I’m feeling great because it’s awesome [to be here]. It’s my first live action [film] and to have my brothers with me is way more exciting because they make you feel more comfortable,” he explained, adding that they’ve given him some great advice. “They’ve given me a great one that my dad gave to them and they passed on to me during the filming of ‘Camp Rock.’ It says, ‘Live like you’re at the bottom, even if you’re at the top,’ ” he explained. “Remember where you came from.” Are you looking forward to seeing Frankie and his brothers in “Camp Rock 2” on Friday? The “Camp Rock 2” star turned 18 on Friday (August 20) and she admits she has no idea what to wish for. But she does know exactly how she wants to spend it. “I’m turning 18, yeah. I would love to … I don’t know! I would love to just have fun with my friends,” she told MTV News at the New York premiere this week of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” where co-star Joe Jonas showed off his own 21st birthday present . “I don’t get to see my friends a lot, so a lot of my friends are coming out [to visit],” said Lovato, who’ll be performing in the New York area this weekend. “My family flew out. I’m just having a good time with them.” So what does she want now that she’s legal? “I have everything I could possibly want,” she told us. “Everyone’s asking me, ‘What do you want for you birthday?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know! Handbags?’ Like, I have everything I could want. I’m just thankful.” Well, it turns out her pals, the Jonas Brothers, already know what they’re getting for her. “It’s Demi’s birthday in a couple days, like two days,” Nick said. “I’m gonna get her… I can’t say ’cause I do have the gift. We have it. We have it somewhere.” “She’s in hearing distance,” Kevin warned of keeping the gift under wraps before Joe let the cat out of the bag. “[We got her a] NASA space shuttle. Lindsay Lohan Judge Removes Herself From Case

By Jayson Rodriguez Lindsay Lohan appears in court (file) Photo: Pool/ Getty Images The Beverly Hills, California, judge who presided over Lindsay Lohan’s recent probation-violation case has removed herself from further proceedings involving the actress after allegations of improper practices. According to TMZ , Judge Marsha Revel contacted various medical experts and participants in Lohan’s case without notifying the former Disney star’s lawyer or the district attorney’s office. A source in the D.A.’s office reportedly told TMZ that Revel stepped down from the case in lieu of the prosecution’s impending request to have her removed. The move is notable because the judge made headlines when she went against the recommendation of experts in Lohan’s case and ordered the troubled star to a different rehab facility after she completed her prison term . Lohan was slated to check into the Morningside Recovery treatment center, however, Revel changed the location, ultimately selecting the UCLA Medical Center instead. Reports suggested Revel was concerned drugs could be attained by Lohan at the recommended treatment center. Sources told TMZ that Lohan’s legal team and prosecutors met Friday to discuss their issues with Revel. Among the complaints aired during the conversation was that the judge contacted representatives at Morningside Recovery on two occasions without properly disclosing her actions. Revel also allegedly met with Robert Shapiro, the attorney Lohan briefly hired after her lawyer in the case quit. The judge, TMZ reported, failed to notify the prosecution of the Shapiro meeting in her chambers. Revel was particularly harsh with Lohan during the troubled actress’ sentencing , scolding her after she pleaded for leniency. “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” the judge said. Demi Lovato Reveals Her Tour Wardrobe Inspiration: Rihanna

By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News Demi Lovato is currently on the road with the Jonas Brothers for their “Camp Rock 2” tour, and she has one killer wardrobe, complete with bedazzled boots, lots of funky jewelry and cool, little dresses. So Lovato, who has admitted to shopping on tour, was a bit nervous when she gave MTV News a behind-the-scenes look at her outfits for the tour. Lovato said that in the weeks leading up to the trek, she really had to focus and nail down the looks she wanted for her performances, which would include sets of her singing her own tunes as well as tunes from the “Camp Rock” movies. That means she needed looks that were both Lovato and Mitchie, her character from the movies. “When it comes to picking out outfits for the tour, I had a rack that filled out an entire warehouse,” she shared. “I just went through it and it took me like six, seven hours to fit all the outfits for the tour. It was fun!” One of those looks is an edgy black and feather dress that screamed Lady Gaga. “It’s a dress and I’ve never really performed my own set in a dress before,” she shared at a rehearsal days before the tour kicked off last week. “So I’m excited.” Another look was a sparkly teal dress that included some sky-high heels. “This is for one of the ‘Camp Rock’ looks that I sing the duet [‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ with Joe Jonas] in, and here are the crazy shoes also,” she said. “I mean they’re not crazy like Lady Gaga, but for me they are. I’ve never performed in stilettos, so we’ll see how this goes.” Lovato also shows off a multicolored dress with a little bronze jacket that suits her “Camp Rock” alternate persona perfectly. “Here’s another ‘Camp Rock,’ dress. Not something I would typically wear, but my character would,” she explained. So, what inspires Lovato’s fashion choices for the show? “I feel like it’s more Rihanna than Lady Gaga. I’m a huge Rihanna fan and I also love spikes and anything leather,” she said, before showing off some heavy metal jewelry. “And I have this crazy jewelry. Actually this one [ring] is pretty crazy [with all its spikes], and the bracelets have twice as many spikes. While she has cited Rihanna as an influence for the album’s vibe, she has two of R&B and hip hop’s most recognizable voices in mind as dream collaborators for the album, which she is currently hard at work on while hitting the road with the Jonas Brothers . “I would love for Drake to be on the album,” she said. “It’s kind of like a pipe dream. I would also like to do a song with Trey Songz. It would be hot! Yeah, it would be really good.” While Drake and Trey aren’t onboard (yet, anyway), fans can expect Demi to turn her sound upside down on the upcoming LP. “I’ve been working with a few producers,” she told MTV News. “I don’t know if I can talk about it, but I’m excited to start working with more people.” Lovato, who has always displayed her big voice on her songs and the “Camp Rock” soundtracks , is ready to show the world just what that sounds like on these new songs. “I’m working on new music, writing new songs, trying to approach a different route, doing a new sound,” Lovato said. “I’m really excited. It’ll be fun. It’s more R&B/pop. Demi Lovato Says ‘Camp Rock 2’ Album Has ‘Emotional’ Tracks

By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News With only a few weeks left until the September 3 premiere of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” on the Disney Channel, fans can prepare by getting familiar with the tunes from the movie’s soundtrack, out Tuesday (August 10). Not only is it chock-full of catchy pop tunes co-stars Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers are currently playing on tour , but with tracks written by the likes of Kara DioGuardi and Toby Gad, the album is sure to have fans dancing in their living rooms. But while the entire album will please “Camp Rock” followers, it’s the songs with the bigger heart that have deeper meaning for Lovato. “I’m really excited for fans to hear pretty much all the songs. A lot of the songs are really fun and they’re dance songs, but there’s also songs that are kind of emotional,” Lovato told MTV News at tour rehearsals . ” ‘It’s Not Too Late,’ I really enjoyed singing it. I loved performing it,” she added. “And also ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ is a song that’s really fun to perform because I really get to showcase my voice.” Of course fans will enjoy hearing “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” if only because it reunites Lovato and Joe Jonas — on record, at least. “Yeah, it sounds really great [performed live],” she said. “And it’s fun too. We’re having a good time with it.” Although the “Camp Rock 2” soundtrack songs aren’t official Lovato tracks, the singer said she works hard to get into the right headspace to interpret the songs. And she loves singing, which makes it a lot easier. “You know, not all of the songs are emotional because it’s a Disney musical movie, so we like to keep it really upbeat, especially when it’s aged towards a younger demographic,” she explained. “Kids lose interest, so you have to keep it upbeat, but sometimes there are times where we pay more attention to the older crowd and one of the songs being ‘It’s Not Too Late.’ Even though it’s not my song that I wrote or even that’s going to be on my album, I’m able to put my personal experiences into it. “I really enjoy singing, whether it’s my own songs or other people’s songs.” What’s your favorite song on the “Camp Rock 2” soundtrack? ‘Camp Rock 2’ track ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ is about opposites trying to make their relationship work. In a new track leaked online, “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas sing about two people who, despite being opposites, try to make their relationship work, even if it feels at times like it won’t. In the chorus, the duo sing , “Like fire and rain/ You can drive me insane/ But I can’t stay mad at you for anything/ We’re like Venus and Mars/ We’re like different stars.” Later on in the song they sing, “We’re perfectly imperfect/ But I wouldn’t change a thing.” In an interview on Radio Disney earlier this year, Demi said, “[‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’] is close to my heart. It’s probably one of my favorite parts of the movie.” “Camp Rock 2” will premiere on September 3 on the Disney Channel. The soundtrack, which features the new song, will be out on August 10. While some dates on their upcoming tour have been rescheduled, with the “Camp Rock 2” tour now kicking off August 7 at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, the pair will hit the road this summer for the rest of the Jonas Brothers’ headlining trek. And despite the fact that Joe and Demi broke up in May, Lovato insists she will hold her own with the guys. “I always hold my own, get it straight!” she joked. “I’m just kidding! It’ll be fun. I’m excited. I’m representing.” And while “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” may make the set list, the guys say fans should brace themselves for a full-on JoBros tour. “It’s a Jonas Brothers tour, as usual. We just thought it’d be great to integrate [other] musical outlets as well,” Kevin said. “We thought it was a great way for our opening acts to have a place in the show as well.
