Lindsay Lohan Could Be Released From Rehab Early

UCLA Medical Center may recommend her release to an out-patient program as early as Friday, according to some reports. By James Montgomery Lindsay Lohan Photo: David McNew/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan’s court-ordered 90-day stint in a rehabilitation facility may be coming to an end sooner than anyone expected. In an interview with RadarOnline.com , Danette Meyers, the prosecutor in Lohan’s case, said that the staff at the UCLA Medical Center where the actress is being treated are considering recommending that she be released early from the facility. “My understanding from conversations with [Lohan’s attorney] Shawn Chapman Holley is that Miss Lohan could be released early,” Meyers said. “It is looking as if that is what the health-care professionals are going to recommend. … How much earlier she could me released, I’m unsure of at this point.” The Associated Press reported that Lohan could be released as early as Friday (August 13), citing a spokesperson at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office who said that the actress’ program might be “modified,” meaning that she could switch from an in-patient program to an out-patient program. Lohan checked into the rehab center on August 2, after serving 13 days of a three-month sentence in Los Angeles county jail. She was originally set to begin her program at the Morningside Recovery center in Newport Beach, California, but the judge in her case, Marsha Revel, ordered a last-minute switch to the UCLA facility for what were described as security reasons. (Earlier this week Revel removed herself from the case.) And though Revel ordered Lohan to complete a 90-day stint at the treatment center, Meyers said that the District Attorney’s office will follow the recommendation of the UCLA staff. “I will follow what the health care professionals advise,” Meyers told Radar. “That could involve follow-up treatment for Miss Lohan, however, it is my understanding that it is looking like the health care professionals will be recommending that she be released earlier than the 90 days Judge Revel previously ordered.” Related Photos Lindsay Lohan Goes To Court The Highs And Lows Of Lindsay Lohan Related Artists Lindsay Lohan

Oksana Grigorieva Hires New Lawyer, May Sue Mel

With no settlement or truce in sight in her battle with Mel Gibson, Oksana Grigorieva has added a top criminal and civil attorney to her legal team. James Spertus, a former federal prosecutor and an experienced trial attorney who specializes in civil and criminal litigation, is on Team Oksana. She had met with civil rights campaigner Lisa Bloom as well as with Mark Lane, who wrote the famous JFK conspiracy book Rush to Judgment . As she gears up for this protracted legal brawl , Spertus joins power lawyers Manley Freid and Marci Levine in the Russian musician’s corner. Oksana Grigorieva claims Mel Gibson exploded in rage January 6 at his Malibu mansion and punched her twice as she held their baby Lucia. She is considering filing a possible civil complaint against Mel. Mel and Oksana’s relationship has been controversial from the start. Gibson has accused his ex-girlfriend of trying to extort money from him after recording vile and abusive telephone conversations he made. The Mel Gibson tapes were indeed vile and abusive … verbally. As of right now, Mel Gibson has not been charged with any crime, however. One of Grigorieva’s new lawyer’s immediate missions upon hiring, TMZ reports? Hiring experts who can sweep Oksana’s home for bugs. Sources say Oksana is worried Mel or the media has planted cameras or wiretapping devices and Spertus doesn’t want to take chances. Mel supposedly has his own PIs working the case. The attorney is a nationally recognized expert on computers and other electronic gadgets, so he should have no problem with that task.

Two Dudes Actually Dating Stephanie Pratt

Stephanie Pratt is somehow dating two dudes at the same time. Presumably they go out on the same date, like on The Bachelorette , but still. Play on, player! A week after her bitter Twitter breakup with Josh Hansen , The Hills star is hedging her bets going forward by pursuing more than one fella interest at a time. “I’m seeing two guys right now,” she tells People , “it’s actually way more fun than seeing one. I’ve never done something like this, but it’s really quite lovely!” The She-Pratt says it’s all about keeping her options open. “It’s not really ‘single’ life, but I’m way too young for relationships,” the 24-year-old said at Tuesday’s Nylon + Express Denim Issue Party in W. Hollywood. “I’ve decided I want to keep things light , and I’ve realized that guys are children!” Stephanie Pratt says guys are basically kids who need to be trained. Well, sure, if your brother is Spencer Pratt , that’s the obvious assumption. But the point of her new strategy is to educate, not aggravate, the opposite sex. She says her two guys, who remain anonymous for now, can take a hint. “It trains them to ask for dates a lot earlier in advance,” Stephanie says. “That’s the most amazing part is that I’ve realized they can actually be trained.” Ideally, of course, she wouldn’t need to. “My perfect man is someone that wants to read a book in Hawaii,” the female Pratt says with a laugh. “I want someone that doesn’t want to be in Hollywood. I want someone who has their own deal, and who thinks that what I do is ‘weird.'” What is it that she does exactly? Just saying. Anyone?

Judge Recuses Herself From Lindsay Lohan Case

Marsha Revel, the Beverly Hills judge notoriously unmoved by Lindsay Lohan’s nonsense and who threw her in jail last month, is stepping down from the case. Revel recused herself Friday after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office objected to meetings between the judge and defense attorneys in the case. Prosecutor Danette Meyers raised the issue at a meeting between her, Revel and Lohan’s defense attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, according to the L.A. Times . Before prosecutors could file to request the change, Revel stepped aside, court spokesman Allan Parachini confirmed. Judge Elden Fox has now taken her place. The judge’s contact with defense lawyers as well as others, such as the Morningside Recovery drug and alcohol treatment center, were the source of conflict. It is unclear how or why this contact was inappropriate. After Lohan’s release from the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, she was taken to the neuropsychiatric ward at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. There, she will receive three months of rehab . The change of judges marks the latest twist in a drama in which Revel had gone toe-to-toe with Lohan frequently and taken center stage along with the actress. Last month, Revel dressed down the troubled star for repeatedly lying about her role in two drunken-driving related incidents within months of each other in 2007, and then failing to attend alcohol education classes as part of her probation. “I’m not taking this as a joke,” Lohan told the judge at the July 6 hearing before Revel. “I take responsibility for my actions. I’ve tried to do the best I can. It’s been such a long haul, I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you.” The whole fingernail display didn’t help that argument.

Lindsay Lohan Judge Removes Herself From Case

Marsha Revel’s move comes amid allegations of improper practices. By Jayson Rodriguez Lindsay Lohan appears in court (file) Photo: Pool/ Getty Images The Beverly Hills, California, judge who presided over Lindsay Lohan’s recent probation-violation case has removed herself from further proceedings involving the actress after allegations of improper practices. According to TMZ , Judge Marsha Revel contacted various medical experts and participants in Lohan’s case without notifying the former Disney star’s lawyer or the district attorney’s office. A source in the D.A.’s office reportedly told TMZ that Revel stepped down from the case in lieu of the prosecution’s impending request to have her removed. The move is notable because the judge made headlines when she went against the recommendation of experts in Lohan’s case and ordered the troubled star to a different rehab facility after she completed her prison term . Lohan was slated to check into the Morningside Recovery treatment center, however, Revel changed the location, ultimately selecting the UCLA Medical Center instead. Reports suggested Revel was concerned drugs could be attained by Lohan at the recommended treatment center. Sources told TMZ that Lohan’s legal team and prosecutors met Friday to discuss their issues with Revel. Among the complaints aired during the conversation was that the judge contacted representatives at Morningside Recovery on two occasions without properly disclosing her actions. Revel also allegedly met with Robert Shapiro, the attorney Lohan briefly hired after her lawyer in the case quit. The judge, TMZ reported, failed to notify the prosecution of the Shapiro meeting in her chambers. Revel was particularly harsh with Lohan during the troubled actress’ sentencing , scolding her after she pleaded for leniency. “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” the judge said.
