Fortunately, companies like Home Depot are not only aware of that issue, but they’re willing to do something about it. Monday afternoon in Atlanta, Shannon Sharpe, Rickey Smiley, and Laz Alonso linked up with the good folks at Home Depot for the $500,000 giveaway finale of the company’s Retool Your School campaign. Source: Nigel Degraff / Nigel Degraff Nine HBCU’s were awarded $50,000 a piece to rejuvenate parts of the campus that are in need. In order to receive the money, each college had to come up with a campaign to tally the most votes from consumers and one school secured the bag with the first ever “Campaign of the Year Award”. BOSSIP got a chance to speak to Super Bowl Champion and NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe at the event and got some insight on how he got involved and what his HBCU, Savannah State University, means to him: BOSSIP : How did you first get involved with Home Depot Retool Your School? Shannon Sharpe : Anytime it’s something to help historically Black college, I want to be involved. I went to an HBCU understand the economic hardships that a lot of these institutions face and Home Depot is doing a really good thing today. The Shannon Sharpe you see here was cultivated at Savannah from 1986-1989 I had some great professors and doctors who cared about me and help me find out about myself. This is my chance to pay Savannah State back and those professors who took time to instill wisdom and knowledge in me. I wish we could have a $20 million endowment like Harvard but this is a really good opportunity for myself, Rickey (Smiley) who went to Alabama State, to give back. I don’t think a lot of people realize that I went to an HBCU. Most times they assume if you went to the NFL or played professional sports that you went to Notre Dame or Michigan or Nebraska or something like that. BOSSIP : What advice would you give high school athletes who want to play professionally but are afraid that they won’t get the exposure at an HBCU that they would at a PWI? SS : When I went to Savannah State my college coach, Bill Davis, God rest his soul, told me “Son, if you’re good, they’ll find you.” Because I was gonna transfer to the University of Miami, but I believed I was that good. I believed the NFL would find me. I believed that once I got to the NFL I would show that my skill set was as good or better than all those guys. Charmaine , Ryan, and the rest of the crew show off their mom tattoos and share the stories behind their very special ink. Charmain went for a simple tattoo with a complex meaning. Ryan chose to commemorate his mom in a place he sees everything. Don and Van also chime in with there mother-loving ink. How would you rate some of these tributes?
For our money, the first two episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8 are among the strongest the show has ever delivered. Characters being united for the first time in years, other major figures from disparate storylines crossing paths for the very first time, stirring tales of breastfeeding from giants … these past two installments had everything! Except, of course, for epic battle scenes — a fact that's very much to the chagrin of some viewers. But grab your dragonglass and fortify your courage with a big sip from Tormund's drinking horn, because it's about to go down in a major way! Yes, following seven-plus seasons of intense build-up, the Night King is about to arrive at Winterfell. It's about to begin — the war that fans have been waiting for since those poor Night's Watch randos encountered a pack of White Walkers in the very scene of the GoT pilot. And it's a safe bet that lots of people are about to die. As for predictions — well, GoT traffics in surprises, and we know better than to presume we have any idea what's in store. That being said, Brienne and Arya are both fan favorites who enjoyed life-changing milestone moments Sunday night, and you know how this show likes to rip away any shred of happiness (both ours and the characters). Oh, and not only did Bran just tell someone his life story — always a good sign that a character is next on the chopping block — the Night King is his number one nemesis, and it's easy to imagine him sacrificing himself for to save mankind. Anyway, the one thing we know for sure is that this episode is certain to satisfy those who complained about the lack of sword-swinging in the previous installments. In fact, it's looking like this one will be a wall-to-wall action episode, a la “The Watchers on the Wall” and “The Battle of the Bastards.” Budget-wise, we've come a long way since Tyrion missed the entirety of Season 1's Battle of the Whispering Wood after suffering a conveniently-timed bump on the head. Of course, it's looking like the action will take place entirely at Winterfell at night, so turn up the brightness on your screen before watching this preview. As for the actual episode, you may encounter a different sort of visual obstacle. It might be tough to see through the tears you'll be crying when characters you've been cheering on for the better part of a decade are mercilessly cut down by the undead.
Hailey Baldwin gushed about how proud she is of husband Justin Bieber . Now, the Biebs is paying her back by proclaiming to the entire world how much he loves her. Well, how much he loves her boobs, anyway. Coachella 2019 had its second weekend of fun, music, partying, and financially contributing to further enrich a wealthy homophobe. (Sorry to be no fun, but it’s important to think about where you spend your money when it comes to luxuries, and music festivals are a luxury) Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin have been friends for ages, and not only because they’re both gorgeous models. They’ve been partying at Coachella and taking the snaps to prove it. After one particular photo that Kendall shared on social media, Hailey’s husband is taking note. As you can see, Hailey’s assets are on full display. The push-up effect of the corset that she’s wearing is such that she’s in great danger of a nip slip. Justin didn’t seem to mind the look. In fact, he took to the comments to very publicly praise his wife’s glorious cleavage. “Baes boobs,” Justin wrote, followed by a pair of fire emojis. Justin obviously loves his bae for more than just her out-of-this-world boobs. In fact, he recently penned a romantic poem to his wife. He followed up that poetry with prose as he continued to gush about his gorgeous partner. “Things all around us Just get better with time,” Justin observed. He affirmed: “I fall more in love with you every day!” “You have walked hand and hand with me,” Justin praised. He noted that she has done so “as I continue to get my emotions, mind, body and soul in tact!” We’re sure that he meant to write intact, but was too overcome with affection. We all make typos every day. Zero judgment. “You have given me so much strength, support , encouragement, and joy,” the Biebs gushed. “I just wanted to publicly honor you,” he explained of his Instagram post. “And,” Justin added, he wanted to “remind you that the best is yet to come!” Justin concluded his post: “Have a great shoot today my love!” Hailey responded to Justin’s very public declaration with one of her own — minus the poem. “I love you,” Hailey’s post began. “You are an incredible man,” she praised. “You make me a better human being.” “You make me happier than I’ve ever been,” Hailey expressed in her Instagram tribute to the Biebs. Hailey added that she is “Insanely proud of who you are” “And,” she continued, she is immensely rpoud of “who you’re becoming.” “I love you more every single day,” she affirmed. They are both very cute and clearly in love. And, despite a lot of people’s perceptions that they rushed into an engagement and marriage for the wrong reasons, they seem to be good for each other. And Hailey isn’t the only one who brings hotness to the table. Some photos that unfortunately leaked in 2016 confirmed to the world the rumor that the Biebs smuggles a python in his pants wherever he goes. And he may be covered in 100 hours worth of tattoos , but his famous bubble butt was pristine the last time that he showed it off. So if you don’t “get” why they’re compatible, just appreciate that they’re appreciating each other’s dynamite bods and don’t worry about it. The Invasion of Privacy star was in court Friday (April 19) but rejected a plea deal that would have given her a misdemeanor charge. TMZ reports : She was all business — decked out in white — as she walked through the rain, and into an NYC courthouse. As you know, Cardi’s accused of ordering an attack on 2 strip club bartenders — Jade and Baddie Gi — last August. Cardi allegedly thought Jade had slept with her man, Offset. Inside, prosecutors tried to play let’s make a deal. The offer — plead guilty to a misdemeanor, and get a conditional discharge. That would mean no jail time, but Cardi would have to stay out of trouble for some period of time. That didn’t appeal to her, and she rejected the deal before they could even discuss how long she’d have to keep her nose clean. The hearing didn’t take long, and Cardi strolled back out … silent as fans and photogs showed her love. Kourtney Kardashian recently launched her very own brand , Poosh — just in time for her 40th birthday. That's right. As of Thursday, Kourtney turned 40 years old, and her family wasn't about to let her forget it. Family and friends shared their wildest memories of Kourtney in a Poosh video, and some of these are bonkers. Others … explain a lot . “One of the craziest stories I remember about Kourtney was when she was 2-year-old,” Kris reveals. Speaking of Kourtney, Kris says: “she fell asleep on the school bus, going to school.” At two years old? Even if Kris is referring to preschool, we've seen plenty of millionaires personally drop off their kids at preschool. “And,” Kris continues. “The bus driver didn’t see her sleeping on the bench because she was so tiny and petite” We get that Kourtney has always been teeny-tiny, but hat kind of rich people preschool was this? Maybe it's normal to put two-year-olds on a bus by themselves in Calabasas. Anyway, the story goes on: “And the bus driver dropped off all of the kids,” Kris says, noting that “Kourtney was still sleeping.” “He locked up the bus and went out to breakfast,” Kris reveals. “And that,” Kris understates. “Was pretty traumatizing.” Yes, we would imagine so. “Happy birthday, Kourtney. I love you!” “My wildest memory of Kourtney is probably just when we were younger,” Kendall begins. “She would babysit Kylie and I all the time,” she recalls. “And pick us up in her white BMW and she would drive so fast.” Remember, there's a 16-and-a-half year age difference between Kourtney and Kendall. “And she would take us to her house,” Kendall continues. “Where her and her boyfriend lived.” “She would just make us junk food all day long,” Kendall continues. “And let us play video games.” “We loved her for it,” she remarks. We would imagine so! Spoiling kids is one of the benefits of being an adult but not the primary caregiver. “Kylie and I looked up to her so much,” Kendall gushes. “And,” she concludes. “I just always aspired to be as funny and outgoing as she was.” Kylie says that her favorite memory of Kourtney involves the two of them arguing about Tinkerbell pajamas that Kylie wanted. Kourtney was a full-on adult when Kylie was born, so this is goofy. Maybe they don't have that many memories because of the age gap, which is sad, but Kylie's story is just … kind of dull. No shade. Khloe teases that she has no shortage of wild, sordid tales to share about Kourtney. She also says that, because she's such a good sister, she won't horrify Kourtney by tainting her Poosh brand with them. (Notably, a number of Kourt's friends say similar things about keeping quiet about her wild times — a great way to boost someone's rep) Kim's stories are all about being relentlessly bullied by her older sister. “I just remember having the saddest memories,” Kim says. “Because Kourtney was so mean to me all the time,” “She was always finding a way to pick on me or pick on me,” Kim complains. “A funny little example is when we were in Palm Springs …” Kim begins, explaining that they would visit their grandparents there. Kim accuses Kourt of having recruited all of her friends to spend time with her, not Kim, and even try to humiliate her in front of her peers. “She would take, like, grapefruit and oranges,” Kim accuses. “And throw them at me and try to get me to fall.” Happy birthday, Kourtney!
Devastating news today out of the entertainment industry: Mya-Lecia Naylor, a British actress best known for her roles on the programs Almost Never and Millie Inbetween, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. She was 16 years old. The tragedy was confirmed late Wednesday evening by CBBC, which released the following statement: We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from ‘Mille Inbetween’ and ‘Almost Never’, has very sadly died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer. We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. It remains unclear at this time just what caused the death of this rising British star. In a statement of her own to E! News, Alice Webb, Director at BBC Childrens said the following: “We are distraught and so terribly sad to hear the news about Mya. She has shone so brightly on our screens, both in Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, and it’s unthinkable that she won’t be part of our journey going forward. “She was hugely popular with our audience, a very talented actress, dancer and singer, and a real role model for her young fans.” All we can verify at the moment, courtesy of Naylor’s agents, A&J Management, is that the young actress collapsed prior to her passing. Aside from her acting credits, Naylor was an aspiring model and singer. She got her start as a toddler on the beloved British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. From there, Mya-Lecia booked roles in television movies and miniseries before landing her biggest role on the CBBC series Millie Inbetween. Following four years on the show, she transitioned over to the CBBC comedy/drama Almost Never. The official Instagram account for this latter series also mourned Naylor’s death last night, sharing the photo below along with a heartfelt statement that reads: Our thoughts are with Mya-Lecia’s family, friends and everyone that loved her at this very sad time. RIP Mya-Lecia. Many other tributes have also been posted online. For example, this is what I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star Emily Atack, who previously worked with Naylor, wrote: She was a beautiful and talented girl. A complete joy to be around on the set of Almost Never. Sending all my love to her family & friends. Rest in peace beautiful girl. Writer Matt Leys, who worked on Millie Inbetween with Naylor, referred to the news as “absolutely heartbreaking” on Twitter and added: “Goodbye our brilliant, funny, lovely Fran. You were a miracle. Watching the cast of Millie Inbetween grow with their characters, inform them, let us write it around them, has been an absolute joy. This is such awful, devastating news.” As you can see here, he also tried to comfort fans who were stunned and saddened over the news: In an April interview with TresA Magazine, the late actress noted that she had “some amazing projects” on the horizon.
