I’d been watching videos, looking at tweets and listening to songs all to do with Justin for over two years. Never ever did I think I would get to meet him, being from the UK and not America or Canada! But as Justin always says, NEVER SAY NEVER! It was Friday 3rd December and I was at home on my laptop when I noticed that a girl I knew had posted on the internet she was going to meet Justin on Sunday! Immediately I asked her how this was possible, she was really nice and told me where to get a ticket. My heart was going so fast and I was crying where I was panicking, quite sad I know! My mum was shouting at me racing to get the tickets. After about 10 minutes the ticket was brought and printed off. I was going to meet JUSTIN BIEBER! Never did I think this day would come! As the tickets were courtesy of HMV I thought the event would be in a HMV store but what they failed to tell us was that the event was at a secret location, in Highbury over the other side of London. I hadn’t even heard of Highbury let alone the “Relentless Garage”. As I am under 16 I had to have an adult accompany me and my dad wasn’t best pleased when he found out where the event was but he said he WOULD take me as he knows how much I adore the Bieber. All weekend I was buzzing, yet when it came to Sunday I couldn’t contain the excitement! I was on my own with my dad as friends didn’t mange to get tickets but I met some lovely girls in the queue and we managed for all of us to have a photo with Justin! It come to 5pm and we still wasn’t inside. Justin was 3 hours late and most of all I was frozen and I’d been waiting for 5 hours. It had been snowing the day before and I only had silly little vans on. But the time came about 5:30pm and they was letting us inside. I got my black wristband and waited inside the venue. Here they played ALL Justin’s songs like OLLG, ONE TIME AND SOMEBODY TO LOVE. Then a guy called “Black wristbands to queue”. A billion girls began screaming and ran to the railings- here we had to queue for our turn to go in with Justin! Two minutes later our group was let in and we approached a door. I was at the front and looked through to see JUSTIN BIEBER standing a few steps away! I shouted just totally fangirl’ed and with that girls swarmed in front! The security guard let us in the room and we approached Kenny, “Go on girls, groups of four or five” he said- me and my new friends rushed to Justin’s side. I stood to the right of him, the other girls surrounding. “Hi hun”, he said. I couldn’t speak all I said was “Hiya”. One girl asked where to stand and he told her to “Crouch down in front”. I just remember starring at his nose and hair. He was quite a bit taller than me and totally gorgeous. The whole 4 minutes I was with him I just zoned out and watched him, it was amazing. Me and Justin put our arms round each other and the photographer took the photo. Justin then stepped back and it was time for us to go. Kenny shuffled us along and I managed to just say, “Bye Justin thank you!”. Not a lot but just showed appreciation. My time with Justin wasn’t as long as many other girls around the world but it was perfect. So to all the girls and boys who dream to meet their inspiration, don’t give up. I never thought I’d meet the boy that I’d been staring at through a screen for the past 2 and a half years. But it happened so it can always happen to you! Early this morning, R.L. hit us with his new mixtape “The Return II,” which got us thinking about just how much we do love and appreciate R&B . So we figured, in addition to his offering, we would bring you an all R&B edition of the BoomBox today. R.L. – Mixup II Our favorite of all the dope songs we found on R.L.’s mixtape (which you can get here ) is this medley, where he takes on three songs you know and love: “Before I Let You Go” by Blackstreet, Prince’s “I Would Die For You” and, just to show there are no hard feelings, Jagged Edge’s “Let’s Get Married.” Flawlessly. Verse Simmonds – Love No Glove You probably thought you could do without another song using that bed springs sound effect. You’re gonna love this one anyway. From Verse’s new “Sextape Chronicles II” mixtape, which you can get here Syleena Johnson – Like Thorns Syleena is slowly, but surely, making her way back to the top, championing the cause of grown-woman heartache along the way. Robin Thicke – I’m An Animal We LOVE Robin Thicke. We really do. This song though… Shontelle – Reflection Hmm… We really didn’t realize that Rihanna 2.0 had two albums on the books already! This cut from her forth coming third album is all kinds of light and positivity and happiness… Maybe we should call Shontelle the Anti-Rihanna then… Bonus : Kiyana – Take Me Away Meet New Black Kid On The Block Kiyana. She’s 21, and could very well the next torchbearer to carry on the legacy of Mary J. Blige. Keep an eye on this one…
Nick Ashford, one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson, has died at age 70. His former publicist told the Associated Press that the singer and songwriter died in a New York City hospital on Monday. He had undergone radiation treatment for throat cancer. Ashford & Simpson were known for their hit “Solid” and also penned “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “‘You’re All I Need To Get By.” He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Nick Ashford, one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson that penned elegant, soulful classics for the likes of Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye and funk hits for Chaka Khan and others, died Monday at age 70, his former publicist said. Ashford, who along with wife Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s biggest hits, died in a New York City hospital, said publicist Liz Rosenberg, who was Ashford’s longtime friend. He had been suffering from throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatment, she told The Associated Press. I had been blessed to meet them last summer and I can say that the love that emanated between them was the epitome of all that one hopes for in Black love. He still looked at Valerie with love in his eyes each night. Each of their videos gave life and light to what their love for each other was. Here is my photo last summer with friends at the couple’s Sugar Bar. How ironic when you consider the beautiful songs that came from that throat. What a wonderful voice he had. I LOVED the beautiful songs that he wrote. What a poet, he was. And what a legacy he has left to us in a world where real music is a thing that’s going the way of the dinosaur. Nick Ashford, who with his wife Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s most powerful love duets, died Monday in a New York hospital. He was 69 and had been undergoing radiation treatments for throat cancer. Ashford and Simpson wrote Motown’s two favorite “Ain’t” songs, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” along with “You’re All I Need To Get By.” They also had a long singing career, scoring their biggest chart hit with 1984′s “Solid (As a Rock)” and later settling into a long run at clubs and cabarets. They also owned several restaurant/clubs, including the 20/20 on W. 20th St. and the Sugar Bar on W. 72nd St. They were a DJ team for several years on WRKS (98.7 FM), playing the kind of music they wrote and sang. Ashford, a tall imposing man whose signature hair was long, was known as a gentle presence in the music business. Nickolas Ashford was born in South Carolina and grew up in Michigan. He moved to New York in the early 1960s with $57 in his pocket, hoping to make it in show business. He was attending Harlem’s White Rock Baptist Church when he met Valerie Simpson, a New Yorker who sang in the choir and also had musical ambitions. They recorded together briefly and unsuccessfully in 1964 as “Valerie and Nick,” but had more success with writing songs – which at first, said Ashford, they sold for $75 apiece. We have watched twins Tia and Tamera Mowry grow from children to adults on TV, but now the two are young women and living separate lives. They are back together on their new reality show “Tia and Tamera” and we finally get to see how they make it all work while being apart. During the taping of their new reality show, Tia was preparing to give birth while Tamera was gearing up to jump the broom. Tia dishes on the new reality show and how she keeps her marriage of three years to actor Cory Hardict sexy. JF: You guys have a new reality show on the Style Network. You and Tamera are together again. How does it feel to be filming together again? TM: Oh my gosh, it’s so much fun. My sister and I are hilarious. We are crazy together! There’s no other dynamic or chemistry. She can’t have it with her husband. I can’t have it with my husband. She can’t have it with her best friend and I can’t have it with my best friend. It’s just a special dynamic that my sister and I have when we are together. It is HI-LAR-I-OUS! We’re crazy. Definitely. We definitely know Tia and Tamera can get a little crazy together. [laughs] TM: [laughs] How do you guys balance your connection as twin sisters while maintaining your separate lives? It’s challenging and I think the reason why we remain so close because we keep it a priority. Whenever you keep a priority you definitely make time for it. But there are some sacrifices like I would want my sister to be around more for me while I’m in Atlanta. But she’s a newlywed. It would be selfish of me to ask her to stay with me for two to three weeks while I’m in Atlanta working. She has to spend some time with her husband. She’s not going to be a newlywed forever. she really has to live and play out that role as a new wife and vice versa. I’m sure she would want me to partake in many of the dinners that she has with her new husband. An example is she surprised Adam (Tamera’s husband ) with a birthday party. Unfortunately, Cory and I couldn’t make it because we had to watch the baby. The baby is still breast feeding and he’s still young and can’t go out at night. So she has to understand why we couldn’t be there. But as long as we communicate with each other and don’t take things personal, I think we’ll be cool. I’ve noticed on this show, you guys have disagreements. We’ve never seen that side because you were doing sitcoms, but how do you guys have disagreements and still bring the love back? How do you not allow those disagreements to come between you two? I think the main thing is you really have to know that the other person really loves and cares for you. If you don’t then it gets kind of messy. Also, you just have to communicate. I think that’s what Tamera and I are working at. Just because we have disagreements or confrontations doesn’t necessarily mean we don’t love each other. I believe that if you’re in a relationship–whether it’s marital or boyfriend and girlfriend–if everything is all good and hunky dory all the time somebody is lying. You have to be able to say, “No, I don’t like that.” To me, that’s what keeps things healthy. You should be able to disagree, but you should be able to work out those disagreements. Tamera and I are working on that. You guys are twins, but the two of you have completely different personalities. What is the difference between you and Tamera? We’re twins and what you guys haven’t been able to see is throughout the years, our personalities have switched. So one moment I can be the sassy one and other times that’s Tamera. I wouldn’t say I’m the sassy one. My sister calls me the diva. But cracking jokes and stuff like that is both of us. This is your first reality show. What’s the difference between shooting a reality show and shooting sitcoms? The difference is with a television show it’s about a script. It’s all about remembering lines and it’s also very scheduled. When you’re doing television you know what you’re shooting the day before. You know what your lines are and you know what you’re going to wear and you’re prepared, which makes it easier. In reality, it’s not like that. It’s reality. You don’t know what you’re going to shoot or what’s going to happen. I’m a very organized person so that can be difficult for me. On the other hand, people who have a nine to five job can come home and they’re done. Not with reality. You’re working, but when you come home, cameras are there. I know some people think it’s regular life, but a reality show is still a job. There are ten to twelve people in your house, you have mics on, and two cameramen following you around. I know you filmed the show while you were pregnant. When women are pregnant they go through mood swings where sometimes you’re happy and other times you’re not. How was it shooting a reality show while being pregnant? Oh, gosh. [laughs] I was hesitant about doing it because I knew that I was going to see myself in a vulnerable place. I’m still seeing myself in a vulnerable place. As of my weight, I’m the biggest I’ve ever been and I was the biggest I’ve ever been on television. It’s hard seeing yourself like that. I had to remind myself that I did all of this for my son and I have plenty of time to get the weight off. And I will get this weight off of me because I’m working with my fabulous trainer. It was difficult seeing myself pregnant, but at the same time, I’m happy that I did it because my son will have some documentation of his mom. I miss being pregnant. I really do. It’s a wonderful experience. Your husband, Cory Hardict, is an actor and you’re an actress. What is life like having a family and both of you guys are in the entertainment business? For me, it makes everything all better and easier because my husband just booked another movie and he will be shooting in September. I’m going to be filming in Atlanta at that time. So I get it. We both understand at different times we won’t be with the baby. If I wasn’t in a relationship with somebody who understood that, it could bring a little conflict. But Cory and I are so laid back, it’s not even funny. He lets me do me and I let him do him. We are a team and we support each other. Sometimes, women don’t feel they look their best after giving birth. What advice would you give new moms on how to feel good about themselves? First of all, women feel the pressure to lose the baby weight immediately. My thing is this: the time you spend working out and trying to lose the weight instantly is the time you should be bonding with your baby. The more time you spend in the gym is more time you’re spending away from your baby. So take your time. Don’t rush and listen to your instincts. Take it a day at a time. If you try to control everything, you’ll go crazy because nothing goes according to plan all the time when a child is involved. Everything is always changing. Do you have any tips on getting the sexy back in your marriage after having a baby? I think the main thing is not to neglect your husband. A lot of men feel neglected throughout this time. I would suggest you involve him in the whole process. Another thing is to not be afraid to put on a sexy dress and go out on a dinner date just you and your man spending time with each other. Don’t let your children sleeping in your bed become a habit. If the child is in the bed, they are in the middle and the parents don’t get a chance to hug and be intimate. Do you take any of your real life marriage experience and put that into your character on The Game? Oh yes, definitely! I think that’s why I’ve been able to play Melanie the way I have. That’s the reason why I loved this character. I’ve been able to take some inspiration from my relationship and marriage and inject a lot of reality into the character. One thing that I use is when you are married, you can not lose your identity. The challenge is finding the balance between being a good wife and mother and still remaining yourself. Especially with last season, she was all about Derwin. Melanie took cooking lessons and it was all about the legacy. I told the writers of the show I would like to see her be more independent and hopefully we’ll see that next season. Check out “Tia and Tamera” Monday nights on The Style Network 9pm est. Her 8-year-old son, James Wilkie, wants to be an actor, and he’s eager to start auditioning. But don’t get too excited, she isn’t sure when it will happen. Sarah Jessica Parker was interviewed for this Sunday’s PARADE magazine and the actress opened up about her home life and the future of “Sex and the City”. Check out some of the interview below: Her 8-year-old son, James Wilkie, wants to be an actor, and he’s eager to start auditioning. “I don’t want him to do it until after he goes to college: But part of me thinks maybe it’s better if he knows the truth now about how hard it is to be a working actor. I don’t know that he grasps what it took to get us here.” Parker acknowledges that her childhood left her with money anxieties and that she’s eager to capitalize on her earning power. “I have a lot of responsibilities outside myself. I have a large family. I want to know I can always be helpful. I guess I worry.” On tying with Angelina Jolie for the top spot on Forbes’ list of highest-earning actresses. “Where do they get these numbers? I didn’t plot a future like this, although I know some people do. When Matthew and I started working, all we knew is that we wanted to be great actors. I don’t think I ever thought about money or that people would know my name. I loooove the work! When I was a little girl getting free lunches in Cincinnati, could I imagine being on a list in Forbes magazine?” On the difficulty of balancing career and motherhood. “We’ve had two occasions recently where both Matthew and I were working, and it was so hard on the kids. Especially James Wilkie, because he can really articulate how he feels about our absence. On the other hand, there are big chunks of time when we’re home a lot more than conventionally working parents. So you hope to make up for it.” On fraternal twins Loretta and Tabitha. “They’re talking, they’re running, they need me. Loretta is deeply inquisitive: ‘Do you see that, do you hear that, Mama?’ She constantly checks that we are connecting with her.” Her sister is the family princess: “Tabitha does not give; she receives.” Babysitters? Yes. Live-in help? Not for them. “We love closing the door and having the only people in the house be our three children and us. It’s such a good feeling to know that we’re competent and capable and that it’s private.” On the things Broderick has helped her appreciate after nearly 20 years together. Baseball, Parmesan cheese, color (“Matthew’s mother was a painter, and he taught me to love colors and break all the rules”). She also says that “he’s given me a little cynicism,” noting that she used to take the world at face value but that her husband is more skeptical. “I’m less Pollyanna now. That’s probably healthy.” For her part, Parker has shared her love of ballet, and, she says, “I make him [get out and] do things. We go to the theater and we travel because I plan it.” Any chance for a third Sex and the City movie? “There is. I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?” There you have it folks. A lot of people were not happy with “Sex And The City 2,” with the money they could make off a third movie it seems like a given it will happen, but do you think it’s a mistake? What would you want to see happen in “Sex And The City 3″???
Actress tells MTV News she saw people reading book all over London during filming. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway in “One Day” Photo: Giles Keyte Anne Hathaway knows you have your doubts about her, but she’s ready to impress you with “One Day.” The actress is no stranger to adapting well-loved literature to the big screen, having starred in “The Princess Diaries” and “Brokeback Mountain.” But having to speak in an English accent and co-helm a romance novel that fans were so protective of certainly put the pressure on when she was filming “One Day.” Fortunately, the response from fans has been positive so far. MTV News caught up with Hathaway and her co-star Jim Sturgess recently, and “The Dark Knight Rises” actress said that people have received her performance in the flick positively. “I’ve had people come up to me who have seen it actually and they say, ‘I didn’t think you could pull it off.’ And people feel inclined to tell me that they really had no faith in me whatsoever,” she said with a laugh. “So far, it’s ended with a, ‘But you surprised me, and I really enjoyed your performance.’ But I’m just waiting for that person to come up and say, ‘Well I knew you couldn’t do it.’ ” She added that the pressure was amplified by the fact that when she and Sturgess were filming in London, Hathaway saw people all across the city reading the book. The cover of the novel’s U.K. edition is orange, and Hathaway said it would freak her out to see “One Day” so prominently featured in every bookstore she walked into. “At night, it kind of lights the streets of London,” Sturgess joked. People who want to walk into “One Day” spoiler-free might not be too psyched to hear that both Hathaway and Sturgess say they prefer “ill-fated, tear-inducing” romantic films as opposed to ones that end happily ever after. That news certainly doesn’t bode well for the love story between their onscreen characters. While Sturgess said he feels that way because he’s “just cynical,” Hathaway explained that she feels tragic romantic stories stay with a person longer. “If something’s happily ever after, yay, you’re happy for them, but what else do you feel about it? When something rips your guts out, you’re more inclined to remember it,” she explained. Check out everything we’ve got on “One Day.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
