Paris Hilton May Claim Illegal Search To Beat Cocaine Rap

Boyfriend Cy Waits reportedly lost his job at the Wynn resort over the incident. By Gil Kaufman Paris Hilton Photo: Getty Images/ Carlos Alvarez It was a good news/ bad news scenario for Paris Hilton after the globe-trotting heiress was arrested for cocaine possession in Las Vegas over the weekend. The bad news, obviously, was that police allege they found cocaine in Hilton’s purse after pulling over boyfriend Cy Waits’ black Cadillac Escalade outside the Wynn Las Vegas resort on Friday night because they suspected that marijuana was being smoked inside the vehicle. But Radar Online is reporting that Hilton — who claimed the purse in which a small amount of cocaine was found did not belong to her — may be able to beat the charges because she was not searched on the scene, according to an unnamed source close to Hilton. The source said that Paris was taken into the security offices at the Wynn and searched there. “Cops discovered the cocaine inside the security offices where Paris was taken,” the source said. “Because Paris was taken away from the scene where the car was pulled over, this could potentially be an illegal search of a person … Las Vegas Metro didn’t follow standard procedures when Paris was arrested and her lawyer will be talking to the D.A. about this.” Hilton has said the purse belonged to a friend, though police have not identified any other passengers in the vehicle so far or pressed charges against anyone besides the reality star and Waits, who was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Hilton’s Las Vegas-based attorney, David Chesnoff, was slated to speak to the Las Vegas District Attorney’s office on Monday to argue that there is no basis for the charges, since, the source said, the amount of cocaine police allegedly found is “negligible, the purse it was found in wasn’t hers and Paris was illegally searched.” The news was not as good for nightclub boss Waits, who was reportedly fired by boss Steve Wynn following the arrest. According to the Las Vegas Review , the couple were arrested shortly after leaving the Wynn resort, where Waits and twin brother Jesse were promoted to nightclub operations chiefs late last week. The paper could not reach Waits and Wynn for comment to confirm the reports. KSNV-TV reported that earlier Friday night Hilton declined an offer to keep her limo for the night and instead said Waits would be driving her party around for the evening. Hilton thanked her fans for standing by her in her latest drug arrest, tweeting on Sunday, “I’m so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me. Thank you all. Love you so much. Love Paris xoxo.’ ” The heiress had another run-in with the law over alleged drug possession earlier this summer when she was detained in South Africa at the World Cup for marijuana possession. But the case against Hilton was later dropped after officials learned that someone else in her group was smoking. Hilton has a history of getting in trouble for possessing substances and hitting the road, including a 23-day jail sentence in 2007 for violating probation stemming from a 2006 DUI bust. Kendra Wilkinson Recalls Flirting With Coach On ‘When I Was 17’

The reality-TV bombshell looks back at her high school soccer career on the latest episode, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Kendra Wilkinson appears on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Kendra Wilkinson has made her mark as a bubbly tomboy-ish sexpot, graduating from Hugh Hefner’s trio of girlfriends to the wife of NFL player Hank Baskett. It appears the giggly star of the E! reality series “Kendra,” which delves into her life as a party-girl-turned-homemaker and mom, got an early start mixing her love life with sports. “Soccer was my love. I had a huge crush on my soccer coach. He was like the hottest thing to ever exist,” Wilkinson says on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. Wilkinson admits she went to extra lengths to get the attention of her extra-hot coach, including altering her uniform to show off her gams. “I would totally flirt with him. I would wear shorter shorts than the other girls on purpose.” Wilkinson’s brazenness didn’t end with hiked-up shorts. The starlet, who first made a pop-culture splash as regular on “The Girls Next Door,” cavorting about the fabled Playboy Mansion with Hefner and his other girlfriends, Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, says she would pretend to suck at soccer to get more face time with her swoonworthy coach. “We would have to run, and I would purposely be the last because he would be there behind me going, ‘C’mon Kendra, c’mon!’ ” Wilkinson remembers. “I just loved that. I loved just having my soccer coach just yelling at me. It turned me on.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Kendra Wilkinson, Asher Roth and Kelly Osbourne — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Nikki Reed Explains Bella And Rosalie’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ Bond

The onetime rivals’ love for baby Renesmee is ‘the one thing that’s strong enough to bring them together.’ By Kara Warner Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News With “Eclipse” about to leave theaters and a sizable gap between the release dates of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and “Part 2,” the “Twilight” news seems hard to come by these days — at least until the cast starts filming “Dawn” this fall. Lucky for us, MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed recently to talk about her upcoming indie film “Last Day of Summer” co-starring DJ Qualls, and, naturally, the conversation veered into “Breaking Dawn” territory. As fans and readers of Stephenie Meyer’s final “Twilight” book know, Reed’s character Rosalie and Kristen Stewart’s Bella form an unexpected bond late in the series. We asked her thoughts on how the relationship between the two women changes in the final two films. “What is that saying: Nothing makes two people bond more than the hate of another?” Reed said. “I kind of feel like that [describes Bella and Rosalie’s relationship], but in relation to love in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ because they both love this child so much.” Speaking of Bella and Edward’s much-discussed baby, Renesmee, Reed explained that a shared love unites the two. “I think it’s finally the one thing that’s strong enough to bring them together — their love for this [child]. It’s bizarre,” Reed said, since in the books and the films Bella and Rosalie don’t exactly get along perfectly. “It’s like they learn to co-exist for the sake of the kid, almost like they’re a divorced couple.” Reed has also said that her character’s motivations for wanting Bella to have the baby at all costs are all about that love she has for the child, not politics. “I think that Rosalie just always wanted to be a mom, and that’s how I look at it,” she said. “It has nothing to do with being pro-life or anything. I think it’s about her want, her need to be a mother, and this is the only opportunity she’s ever going to have, so she’s willing to let Bella die so she can have that and fulfill that, and that’s how I look at it. It’s her own personal desires.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin Of ‘True Blood’ Marry

The co-stars tie the knot in Malibu. By Mawuse Ziegbe Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (file) Photo: Getty Images The couple that gets naked together apparently stays together. Days after “True Blood” co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer appeared nude on the cover of Rolling Stone (flanked by fellow “Blood” actor Alexander Skarsgard), the couple engaged in a more modest declaration of their love, and wed on Saturday in California. According to UsMagazine.com, the duo got married at a private home in Malibu. The nuptials were attended by guests such as Elijah Wood and “Blood” co-star Carrie Preston. Paquin, who plays psychic server Sookie, and Moyer, who brings the heat as vampire Bill, struck up a romance after portraying lovers on the HBO hit. The onscreen couple went public with their offscreen relationship in early 2009 and announced their engagement last August. Moyer told MTV News earlier this year that he had no doubt he and his “Blood” flame, who recently revealed that she was bisexual , were going to spend their lives together. “She wasn’t going to say no [to my proposal],” Moyer said. “Are you crazy?” The duo are continuing a Hollywood tradition of finding love on set , and Paquin recently explained that there are ups and downs to mixing business with pleasure. “You don’t want to bring personal stuff to work,” Paquin said in a recent issue of Self magazine. However, she did insist that she feels lucky to be able to mix it up with her man on the job. “It’s a luxury to get to go to work with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, because I love my job and I’m really happy.” Leave your well-wishes for the couple below! ‘The Switch’: Fluid Situation, By Kurt Loder

Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman and the search for a kid in a cup Jason Bateman in “The Switch” Photo: Miramax “The Switch” is set in that fantasy Manhattan, familiar from Woody Allen movies, in which everyone seems to be a highly compensated white professional and all ethnic coloration has been drained away. The movie wants us to care about these people’s problems — which include things like imaginary medical maladies — but many viewers may wish that such trifling complaints were the only ones they had. Jennifer Aniston plays Kassie Larson, a top TV producer who’s facing 40 and desperate to have a child. Jason Bateman is Wally Mars, a stock trader who was once Kassie’s boyfriend but is now simply her best pal — although of course he still secretly pines for her love. Kassie has never found the right guy to have a family with, so she’s decided to go the artificial-insemination route. She’s found the ideal donor in a guy named Roland (Patrick Wilson), who’s both a hearty jock and an assistant professor of feminist theory at Columbia University. Obviously Mr. Right, at least for purposes of impregnation. Do women desirous of offspring actually throw “I’m Getting Pregnant” parties at which their chosen sperm donor arrives bearing baby juice in a plastic cup? Kassie does. Unfortunately, Wally is among the many friends in attendance, and he gets drunk, stumbles into the bathroom, finds Roland’s cup, accidentally spills its contents, and then — using a magazine photo of Diane Sawyer for stimulation — brings forth his own seminal contribution, which he leaves to be passed off as Roland’s. Wally is so drunk that the next day he doesn’t remember doing this. Two weeks later, Kassie announces she’s pregnant. She relocates to Minnesota to raise the child she’ll soon be having. Seven years later she returns to New York with her little boy, Sebastian (Thomas Robinson). She reconnects with Wally — who’s still in the dark about what he did at the party that night, and doesn’t realize Sebastian is his son — but also with Roland, who quickly develops a romantic interest in her. And so forth. Romantic comedies aren’t often an arena for violence, but this one’s different — the movie’s script continually manhandles its characters into situations of brazen implausibility. The picture does have some funny moments, mostly provided by Jeff Goldblum, as Wally’s distracted boss (Goldblum always seems to have another, more interesting conversation going on in his head while he’s delivering his character’s lines); and by Juliette Lewis, who enlivens a few scenes with her blowsy, wisecracking energy. (“I’ve had orgasms that last longer than his relationships.”) And Robinson is unusually engaging as little Sebastian — he’s a cute kid with a surprisingly wry intelligence. It’s too bad that Bateman, so expert at underplaying comic characters, has a character here that’s so thinly conceived it can’t bear much underplaying. Wally — who exhibits none of the sharkish

Scoop DeVille Is Crafting A ‘Futuristic’ Sound That’s All His Own

‘People are like, ‘What did you sample?’ I’m like, ‘Uriah Heep,’ ‘ Scoop says of mining rock collection for rap bangers. By Shaheem Reid Scoop DeVille Photo: Tokyo Sex Whale Records Behind the Beats: Scoop DeVille Frost is such a veteran, he’s an O.G. among O.G.s. Dr. Dre used to be his DJ back in the ’80s. And when Frost (originally known as Kid Frost) pioneered in 1992 with his Hispanic Causing Panic debut, his son, little Scoop DeVille was only 2 years old. In 2009, Scoop broke through himself by producing Snoop Dogg’s blockbuster “I Wanna Rock.” Everyone from Jay-Z to Ludacris eventually jumped on the track in various official and unofficial remixes. Then he gave Fat Joe two bangers in “(Ha Ha) Slow Down” and “No Problems,” and laced N.O.R.E. with the Flavor Flav-inspired “Nutcracker.” “I don’t see Scoop as a real young producer really,” Frost said, sitting next to his son in Scoop’s Los Angeles studio. “I see him more as an old soul that’s been in it for a long, long time. People are just barely finally discovering his sound, but man, he’s been harboring a fresh, fresh sound in him for a long time. It’s finally starting to sail now. It’s finally starting to leave port and people are starting to jump on it.” Scoop gives props to his pops for keeping music around him that would later influence his career. “That’s all I was around man,” Scoop says. “I was fortunate to not have that gang life and I got to be around the music and school. So I got to learn all of the hip-hop history and I got to meet a lot of these people who were hip-hop celebrities. Like the Eazy-E’s, Ice T, and Snoop and Dre and it’s like the list goes on, man. From people who were on the scene … everybody, there’s numerous people. I mean my music, just my hard drive and my brain is crazy: I have like classic rock. There’s a crazy record, it’s not just hip-hop, it’s like [other genres] because that’s what made hip-hop too” “I never really played that much rap in my house,” Frost smiled. Instead, Scoop, who also rhymes, picked up most of his hip-hop away from home. “I got to learn my own stuff to a point where I was writing my own lyrics and recording my own songs,” Scoop explained. “I would go back to a lot of old stuff. Lots of old-school records, ’70s funk, reggae, I mean, there’s so many, the Doors, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, all that. Led Zeppelin, Beatles — that [sound] was a big influence on me, just the way that their music sounds so monstrous. I would love to take that and incorporate that in hip-hop. So now I got records with Xzibit that got crazy rock samples in them and people are like, ‘What did you sample?’ I’m like, ‘Uriah Heep. You don’t even know what that is.’ That’s hard rock heavy metal back in the day, 60’s. And you know psychedelic, all that stuff. I love all kinds of music.” Next Wave of Flav : On 50 Cent : “I haven’t done anything with 50 yet. We just met. I worked with [Shady Records A&R] Riggs {Morales]. I was trying to get on Em’s project a while back. We got a lot of things in the works with them. We try to keep it cool with everybody. It’s definitely a new sound what we’re trying to do. I wanna have everybody involved at all angles. It’s good to see everybody come around. I definitely played them a few records. They’re not looking for anything like I’ve been doing. They’re looking for something real different. The records I’m playing for them are different, futuristic.” On Busta Rhymes : “I got a few records on this new album. When that comes out, it’s going to take the beat stuff to a whole ‘nother level. This record he has coming out, we did three joints for it. Oh my God, the sh– I gave Bus is ridiculous. I’ve met cats like David Banner and Swizz Beatz. They all got records on the album but they all say, ‘You got the craziest record on the album.’ ” On the Clipse : “That was amazing. When we were in the lab, we were going beat for beat. They were picking everything. It came to a point where they were like, ‘You’re 10 for 10.’ There was like 15, 16 beats and they were like, ‘We’re taking all these beats.’ That was dope because they get beats from Pharrell. That’s the number-one producer to me. Just to get that response from them and their management. That was a dope experience. They were a big inspiration for me making beats in high school.” On Raekwon the Chef : “Rae’s a real cool cat. We were in the lab until 3 in the morning listening to beats. He took records for a new Wu record, he took records for him and Ghost. He’s gonna put me in contact with Ghost. Rae is cool. I have a lot of records for him, a lot of real grimy records.” Hottest Streak Thus Far? He’s just getting started ladies and germs. Katy Perry Says She Wrote ‘California Gurls’ Out Of Jealousy

‘I thought it would be perfect timing for a California anthem,’ she says of her response to ‘Empire State of Mind.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg in “California Gurls” Photo: Capitol “California Gurls” came out of a very simple place: as a response to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ massive hit “Empire State of Mind.” While “Empire” was incredibly New York, with a sweeping chorus and plenty of Big Apple references, Perry’s ode to her home state was glossy and shiny and featured Cali MC Snoop Dogg. Perry said the song is just what California needed. “[California girls] are different,” she said about Teenage Dream ‘s debut single. “That’s why there needed to be a song about them. I felt like there’s something in the water. Like, you know the boys always dream about maybe dating a California girl, just because we’ve got the sun shining through 365 days a year.”

Keri Hilson Debuts New Single, ‘Breaking Point’

Timbaland-produced track is first offering from her sophomore album, No Boys Allowed. By Jayson Rodriguez Keri Hilson Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Keri Hilson debuted her new single, “Breaking Point,” on Atlanta radio Wednesday, the first offering from her forthcoming sophomore album, No Boys Allowed. The perky-but-slow number was produced by Timbaland, who, along with Polow Da Don, will executive-produce Hilson’s new project. On the track, Hilson is feisty and voices the frustration of women who are neglected and taken advantage of by men. “Every woman has a breaking point, y’all,” she sings on the chorus. “Hey, I know you know, some women can be lied to, cheated on and beat on/ Somebody know, hey, every woman has a breaking point, y’all/ Tell me how we put up with that/ You cant forget that/ See, I done did that/ But this time, there’s a limit to my love.” No Boys Allowed is slated for a late-2010 release, and a video for “Breaking Point” is set to be shot next month. Earlier this year, Hilson told MTV News that her travels around the world would influence her next album. “Everywhere I travel, I get music from that region of the world,” she said. “I’ve been to Nigeria, I’ve been to South Africa, three cites in Africa [in all]. I gather music from these regions, and African music is very drum-heavy. It was very inspiring. I’m definitely going to be using some of that inspiration.” In addition to Timbaland and Polow Da Don, Ryan Leslie is expected to produce material for No Boys Allowed. Leslie said he and Hilson have worked on music together, and one song in particular he described in April sounds like it would please Timbaland. “One of my favorite productions while I was out there is a Keri record, but it’s very reminiscent of Aaliyah,” Leslie said. “I remember making the record and her saying, ‘Man, [Timbaland] is gonna love this’ — we hadn’t played it for him yet — and saying, ‘It’s gonna remind him of baby girl.’ ” What do you think about Keri Hilson’s new song? Nicki Minaj Doubles Up On Billboard Hot 100

Young Money MC features on Jay Sean, Sean Kingston singles — two of only four tracks debuting on this week’s chart. By Jayson Rodriguez Nicki Minaj is featured on two of the four tracks debuting this week on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart as she makes guest appearances on Sean Kingston’s “Letting Go (Dutty Love)” and Jay Sean’s “2012 (It Ain”t The End).” The chart successes follow the Young Money femcee’s own #1 single, “Your Love,” which currently sits in the top 20. But the Kingston and Jay Sean records prove an underlying point about Minaj: The Queens lyricist has managed to make her mark via collaborations; she sizzled on numbers with Usher ( “Lil Freak” ), Robin Thicke ( “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” ) and Mariah Carey (“Up Out My Face”). “It feels crazy,” she told MTV News earlier this year about all the calls for collaborations. “I never imagined it. I never really imagined all of this. It feels good because when you’re working at something, sometimes you feel like you’ll never be recognized for your true talents. Especially when you’re a girl, you feel like people will only see one thing. But now when people hit me, it’s, ‘Could you be on this remix?’ It shows that they respect my talent, and that means a lot.” The animated rapper recently revealed the name of her forthcoming debut album, Pink Friday, via Twitter. She’s been mostly hush, though, regarding details of the project. But this month she explained to MTV News that she’s enjoying the process of crafting her first album. “The album is progressing miraculously , I would say,” Minaj told us. “It’s coming out way better than I could even have imagined or dreamed or hoped for.” Who do you think Nicki Minaj should work with next?
