Carole Radziwil is no longer a member of The Real Housewives family. But the former Bravo star still chimed in this evening in response to a major loss for someone within this family. We’re talking, of course, about Dennis Shields. The 51-year old, known well to The Real Housewives of New York City viewers as the on-again/off-again boyfriend of Bethenny Frankel, was found dead on Friday morning. According to a number of outlets, Shields appeared to have overdosed on prescription pills, with various sources saying he actually asked his assistant to give him a dose of Narcan around 9 a.m. on Friday because he knew something was amiss. Narcan is a drug that is used to combat the effects of an opioid overdose. Sadly, the request came too late. Shields fell unconscious and was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy is pending, but it is believed that Shields overdosed on oxycodone. Frankel, who just discussed her relationship with Shields on the latest episode of the aforementioned Bravo series , has not yet commented on this tragedy. But her main nemesis on the program has gone ahead and released a statement. Via Twitter, Radziwill acknowledged Shields’ passing and said the following: I just heard the sad news about Dennis. He was a good man. My condolences to all his family and friends. So tragic. Radzwill is the first of Frankel’s costars to speak on the Shields’ passing. The journalist announced last month that she’s leaving the program after six seasons, telling Us Weekly: “I have decided to return to what I do best: journalism and producing.” Many fans of this franchise believe that Radzwill was either forced out by producers due to her feud with Frankel or left due to this rivalry. Either way, things between Carole and Bethenny have been contentious for a long time now. But an awful event such as this pushes all of that tension to the side. It puts things into perspective. Frankel and Shields starting dating in 2016, about 30 years after they first met. The two stayed in touch over all those decades, eventually getting together at Shields separated from his wife and Frankel divorced Jason Hoppy. The romance was up and down and was often chronicled on The Real Housewives of New York City. On the August 8 installment of this series, Frankel confided in Dorinda Medley, saying she needed a break: “I didn’t say it to Dennis, but in my own mind, I said, ’90 days. I’m not saying a word to Dennis for 90 days.’ It’s a really hard thing to realize that someone you love, it doesn’t mean they’re the right person, “And I wish he was.” Shields was still technically married to his estranged wife Jill at the time of his death. This is what she said soon after the news became public: “We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life. His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time.” The NYPD, meanwhile, has confirmed hat “police responded to a 911 call of an aided male inside of 721 5th Avenue. We say surprise because there had been chatter as recently as a few weeks ago that the twosome’s marriage was on the rocks , as they seemingly could never settle the tension that existed over Paola so often posing near-nude. And we say joy because Paola suffered a miscarriage last year. This tragedy took a toll on the relationship in a variety of ways. Thanks to her first official statement since nearly dying from a drug overdose, fans now know what Demi Lovato is thinking. But these same fans do not know where Demi Lovato actually is at the moment. And that may not change any time soon. According to multiple outlets, the troubled artist has left Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and is on her way to a treatment center. Not even the sleuths at TMZ have figured out Demi’s exact location, however, except to confirm that she will be in rehab someplace located a distance from California. Aside from getting the star all the professional helps she needs, part of the basis for this move is to also get Lovato far away from some of the bad influences that had overtaken her life in the weeks leading up to her overdose. As previously reported, these toxic friends were never really friends at all. They didn’t push Lovato to overcome her dark side and her dangerous impulses; they encouraged these sides and impulses to come out. As a result, Lovato spent most of the night partying to weeks ago, only to be found hours later in a state of unconsciousness. An assistant called 911 and paramedics arrived just in time to save the singer’s life. TMZ writes that Lovato flew via private plans to a rehab center that an insider describes as “one of the nation’s leading facilities for addiction.” By our estimation, this will be Lovato’s third time receiving professional treatment in such a manner — and we just pray, as cliche as it sounds, that this third time in the charm. Per Radar Online, meanwhile, Demi will remain at her rehab center for a minimum of three months. She is reportedly set to take this treatment seriously, despite having previously scoffed at suggestions from those close to her over the past several weeks that she needs help. It took the star being rushed to the hospital in order for her to see their point. “She is scheduled to stay for 90 days,” a source tells Radar simply. This same source says that Lovato is not being held against her will. This is not a case of an involuntary psychiatric hold, known as a Sectio 5150, which means that Demi will be free to check herself out of rehab at any time. “Demi left the hospital over the weekend. She will get continued care at an in-patient rehab facility,” reports People Magazine, adding: “At the hospital, she was surrounded by family and friends that support her sobriety. They all want Demi to be the best she can. Demi is surrounded by a lot of love. She has people in her life that really care. “She has a long journey ahead, but with all the love, her journey could absolutely be a positive one.” Lovato was sober for six years prior to this relapse. She talked openly during that time about her previous hardcore drug use, her self-esteem issues, her eating disorder and even the suicidal thoughts she had at seven years old . USA Today reports that Barbara Coombes, 63, was gardening outside her father’s Stockport, England house in 2006 when she found the photos and hit her father with a shovel and then slit his throat before burying his body in the garden. Combs confessed after living in her father’s house for over a decade and collecting welfare benefits. She later testified that her father raped her hundreds of times and called him a “violent bully” who physically and verbally attacked her while keeping her daughter as a sex slave. Coombes plead guilty to manslaughter and fraud and has been sentenced to nine years.
