When MTV launched its first-annual digital music celebration earlier this year, we promised that it would be like no other awards show, with trophies handed out before, after and during the show, as well as throughout the year. Sticking to that plan, the O Awards will return for a second round on October 31, with some of the new categories coming courtesy of user suggestions. Among the five new user-generated categories are “Oops! I Did It Online,” in which over-sharing celebs such as Sinead O’Connor and T-Pain will face off against the Game and Courtney Love; and Best Artist with a Cameraphone, which pits Demi Lovato against Bieber, Young the Giant, Katy Perry, the Deftones and Shiny Toy Guns. The other new categories include Best Web Born Artist (MNDR, Odd Future, the Weeknd), Best Vintage Viral Video (Metallica, Nirvana, Notorious B.I.G., O’Connor) and Best Lyrics Video (Perry, Joe Jonas, Lenny Kravitz, Christina Perri). Among Gaga’s two nominations are Fan Army FTW — in which she’ll square off with the followers of Bieber, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Lovato, ICP, Adam Lambert and Tokio Hotel — and Must Follow Artist on Twitter, in which she faces Cher, Snoop Dogg, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Blake Shelton. The O Music Awards will also honor a number of artists who are really good at this whole online thing, with Bjork, Chris Milk, Girl Talk and the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne vying for the Digital Genius Award. The other categories include: Best Fan Cover, Hottest Music NILF (think about it), WTF I Love This Award (online craziness), the self-explanatory Too Much Ass for TV award, Most Outrageous Tweet and Best Music Forum. ‘The video is a fantasy story,’ statement says after U.K. criticism that the clip glorifies violence. And yet, in the week since she wrapped filming, Spears has been taken to task by politicians in the U.K. for a scene in the video, in which the pop star packs a pistol as she flees a London-area building. They’ve claimed that the image of Brit gripping a gun glamorizes violence and, in the aftermath of the widespread riots that rattled the nation last month, the pop star should “apologize … for the rudeness and damage that she’s done to our community.” Late Monday (September 26), MTV News received a statement from Spears’ camp about the “Criminal” controversy — and, from the sound of things, she’s not going to be apologizing anytime soon. “The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney’s boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened,” the statement read. Criticisms of the “Criminal” video began last week, after images of Spears and Trawick making an escape from an apparent robbery (with Brit brandishing a replica revolver) began making the rounds. The scene in question was shot in the London borough of Hackney, which was hit hard by the August riots, and local politicians were upset by what they saw as an insensitive gesture by Spears. “It is only a music video, but it’s images like this, with pop stars glamorizing gangs, which means that some young people … get drawn in,” Hackney’s Member of Parliament, Diane Abbott, told the ITV news program “London Tonight.” “Britney should really know better.” Hackney’s council members — who gave Spears’ camp the OK to shoot at the nearby Stoke Newington Town Hall — also took issue with the fact that no one involved with the production of the “Criminal” video mentioned that a gun was to be used in the clip and, had they known, they would not have allowed filming in the recently restored building. “In this case we did not agree that a replica gun could be used at Stoke Newington Town Hall and are disappointed,” the council said in a statement to “London Tonight.” “We will be raising this matter with the production company.” Related Artists Britney Spears

‘But we’re still best friends,’ Snooki tells MTV News of argument on tonight’s episode. By Christina Garibaldi JWoww Season four of “Jersey Shore” has been jam-packed with a whole lot of drama, from the castmates’ weekly hookups to the almost-weekly fights. You’d think by now we’ve seen everything Italy has to offer, right? Well, think again. As if the infamous fighting match between the Situation and Ronnie wasn’t enough, on Thursday’s (September 22) episode, two of the most unexpected housemates are set to faceoff: Snooki and JWoww. When MTV News caught up with the besties, they opened up about what went down. “When you’re best friends and you’re drunk … sometimes you fight, you know, that’s what happens,” Snooki told us about the fight. Snooki and JWoww take their argument to the streets of Florence after Snooki’s boyfriend, Jionni, abruptly leaves a club claiming Snooki is “embarrassing” him by dancing provocatively. JWoww decides to put Snooki in her place, screaming, “You want a reality check? I just gave you one!” While viewers will likely be shocked to see the two BFFs squaring off, fans should rest assured there’s no lasting fallout from the argument. “Me and Jenni, we just never really screamed at each other like that,” Snooki said. “That was a first, but we’re still best friends.” And JWoww agreed, saying that she and Snooki, who are set to shoot their own reality show , wouldn’t let a little fight ruin their friendship. “Me and Nicole love each other. She is my little sister and I’ll protect her, but there are those moments that we just want to go at it,” JWoww explained. “And the best thing about our moments are they have nothing to do with ourselves. We aren’t actually fighting about each other, we are fighting because external things piss us off.
