Ways To Tell A Man Is Too Controlling

Even the most independent and assertive woman occasionally wants to play the damsel in distress to a strong man who wants to sweep her off of her feet and save her day. Nonetheless, there are times when that protection can turn perilous if you’re dating a man who looks at you less as his partner and more as his property. The following red flags could mean your man is playing a game of puppet master: Click Here To Read The Rest At MadameNoire

The Big Relationship Question: Where Is This Going??

So you have a new boo. Break out the champagne and call all your girls! Finally you’ve met someone you like, and more importantly, who seems to reciprocate the feeling. Unlike some of your last ‘situations’, you want to ensure that you’re not wasting time hoping for something to manifest out of nothing. Basically, you don’t want to wait around for a man who is either not interested in a commitment or not interested in you. You don’t want to get serious about someone who isn’t serious about you, or worse, serious about someone else. Many times the signs are there, they just may be hidden behind the strong desire of wanting to be in a relationship or the serious energy put into trying to make Mr. Right out of someone who is Mr. All Wrong. While every relationship is different, most are made up of similar components. There are no guidelines etched in stone when it comes to relationships, but there are things to consider when deciding if someone is in to for the long-haul. There are things we should know and have experienced within the first month, three months, and couple of years. Consider the things listed in these phases if you’re asking yourself, ‘Where is this going?’ Of course these phases aren’t for the ‘friends with benefits’ or the ‘occasional flingers’.

Tongue Tied?: 5 Reckless Responses to the Rudeness

From a very young age my family and I discovered that I had a sharp tongue. When I got in trouble as a child 8 times out of 10 it was for something that I said rather than something I’d done. I can’t tell you the amount of times I had my lips popped or my parents told me to “watch my mouth.” The trouble was– the rudeness didn’t extend past my family members and close friends. Call it home training or cowardice but when it came to people outside my circle, I had nothing for them. I wouldn’t think of the perfect retort until two hours later. Here are some of those late replies…that you’d probably never even utter. ( Continue reading… )

Question Of The Day: How Would Your Child Know This Person Wasn’t Born A Man???

A bunch of uptight, bible-belt-y moms have decided to wage war against the good folks at ABC for allowing Chaz Bono to appear on “Dancing With The Stars” with a female partner. These mothers and general LGBT haters feel like watching Chaz on DWTS would be traumatizing to children. They also feel like this is just another attempt to the LGBT lifestyle onto people who think its wrong. But our question is: how would your child know that Chaz Bono wasn’t born a man unless you told him or her? And for the kids who are big enough to know, don’t they kind of already know what’s up?

7 Things Women Have GOT to Stop Doing in Public

I know from time to time I can go in pretty hard on men in my posts, but don’t worry though, I’m an equal opportunity meanie. Observing folks, just like with men, I’ve encountered both really admirable, inspiring and uber-friendly women, as well as extremely “ratchet” and disrespectful ones too. The latter type of woman is what inspired my list for today. If you’ve done these things, I ask you to do just a tad bit better (or a lot) because the following public behavior is NOT cute. The title says “SOME” so if you’re not one of these ladies, please don’t act a fool in the comment’s section. Continue reading…

Ratchet Movies We Can’t Help But Love

In every person’s film catalog, aka the dusty shelf of movies you have in your home, there are some deep dramas, some classic comedies and some thrilling action movies. Usually hidden in the back of that same shelf though are at least one or two movies that are extremely ratchet. The kinds that cause you to have to explain to nosey guests not only why you have them but why you love them. But there’s no shame in loving a ratchet movie or two, and everyone has their faves. We’ve come up with a list of 10 films that are questionable in taste but get the most play in DVD players, or dare I say, old VHS players, time and time again. They’re all known for some crazy, stereotypical or random behavior from their characters, yet they manage to have us rollin’! And don’t front! I’m sure you’ve seen at least a handful of the ones on this list. Feel free to shout out your faves! Continued at MadameNoire.com
