Lady Gaga Fans Call ‘Alejandro’ Video ‘Brilliant,’ ‘Scary’

‘Words can’t describe how awesome and revolutionary this video is!!’ one fan gushed. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lady Gaga in “Alejandro” Photo: Interscope Records Lady Gaga’s latest video opus, “Alejandro,” is a dizzying array of provocative imagery, roping in everything from Weimar Germany to S&M to (of course) Madonna. And as expected, Gaga’s dedicated army of “little monsters” hit the web to take it all in. While the clip’s moody, brooding visuals are a departure from the gleefully demented camp of hits like “Telephone” or the futuristic disco of “Bad Romance,” Gaga’s fans are largely into “Alejandro” ‘s sleek, retro vibe . The clip “had my blood boiling the whole time,” reader Andrew commented, adding that the video, whose sullen imagery nods to German films of the ’20s and ’30s, is “cinematic genius, pure brilliance.” “The video is effin’ brilliant!!” reader Journey wrote, echoing fellow Gaga fan Andrew. “Gaga does it yet again — it’s sleek, sexy and a bit scary. I knew she would slay.” With her machine-gun bra, simulated orgies and Catholic iconography, Gaga goes for shock value in “Alejandro.” Ralfy posted, “WHAT???? She makes SUCH a big statement with this video! Criticizing religion, homophobia, political repression, sexism!!! Words can’t describe how awesome and revolutionary this video is!!” “Oh my gosh lady gaga wears a pair of pants for the first time,” Faith observed, pointing out that the conservative wardrobe choices might prove shocking to fans accustomed to Gaga’s high drama. “As crazy as she is i loveeeee lady gaga!” she added. Still, with all of the sinister, shadowy imagery, some fans were left in the dark. “I don’t think the video was boring, ’cause I was like omg what is she going to do next in this video, BUT IT WAS A LITLE TOO CREEPY FOR ME! O.K. ALOTTTT!” ashcuptink13 commented. And although the 80s pop-culture references are numerous and hard to miss, Jennifer defended Gaga’s penchant for paying homage. “You can say she is copying Ace of Base, Madonna, [Michael] Jackson, etc., but in my opinion she is referencing them in her own unique works of art, a wonderfully grounded and respectful gesture to those who paved the way before her.” With “Alejandro” Gaga gave her fans the unexpected, which is exactly what her little monsters crave. As Samuel posted, “U do ur thang gurl GAGA> > LIVE ON MOTHER MONSTER.” What did you think of Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” video? Let us know in the comments! Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ Video Fashions From Eva Peron To Steampunk

New video features S&M outfits, a latex nun’s habit and other controversial high fashion. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga in “Alejandro” Photo: Interscope Records In every performance she gives, Lady Gaga pays as much attention to her look as to her sound. She knows that her “little monsters” will examine each of her looks and try to re-create them. And in her new video for “Alejandro,” which debuted online on Tuesday (June 8), Gaga’s video style is very dark, very black-and-white and very German. And while the song’s Spanish, sun-soaked vibe could lend itself to cheery styles, instead Gaga took a turn for the dark. Most of the looks she wears in the clip, directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein, are more reminiscent of ones that may have been popular in Germany during the ’20s and ’30s. The looks of the video range from high fashion to high blasphemy, as Gaga takes on Catholic imagery. She not only sports a red latex nun’s habit, she also wears a hooded white-and-red tunic that feels like something that Joan of Arc would wear at the stake. Gaga does pay homage to the song’s Latin vibe in the opening funeral scene, when she wears a black lace veil reminiscent of an Eva Peron outfit — or something Madonna would have worn as Eva Peron in “Evita.” That is certainly not where the Madonna style references begin or end. At one point, when the video takes a turn for the “Vogue,” Gaga is seen alone dancing around in a black pant suit that could have easily been worn by Madge in 1990 (back when Madonna was channeling German movie icon Marlene Dietrich). Gaga even has her own take on Madonna’s infamous Gaultier cone bra, only Gaga has made it her own by replacing the cones with rifles. Then again, there are fashion references that are now becoming distinctly Gaga. She dances around in nude-colored underwear. She wears a black Victorian style dress, complete with steampunk goggles, a look that would have been at home in her “Paparazzi” video. Rocker Gaga, complete with black underwear, leather jacket, sunglasses and slicked-back hair, also makes a cameo. It feels like the woman we saw asking Beyonc

Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ Video: German Expressionism With A Beat!

Dark, arty clip is about as far from ‘Telephone’ video as she could get. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga in the “Alejandro” music video Photo: Interscope Records At this point in her career, Lady Gaga can do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. She is unbound, unbridled, and completely without fear … and “Alejandro” is proof of that. It is a very glamorous, very art-y thing — and anyone expecting a video like her last one should give up that hope right now. Because, having already run roughshod through the pulpy pop culture of yesteryear with Beyonc

Madonna before and after photoshop. Ew?

http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2010/06/madonna-before-after-photoshop-louis.ht… I don't know if you've seen, but Madonna has appeared in a series of fashion ads for Louis Vuitton. These ads (to me) are obviously photoshoped. But when I saw how she looked BEFORE the photoshop for the pictures, I was astonished. Not just at how good photoshop is, but how old she looks! Some say she looks better without the doctored photos. I would say yes, if your trying to go for an old lady look. http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2010/06/madonna-before-after-photoshop-louis.ht… added by: a_roxanne

Suri Cruise Busts Out a Freaking iPad at Dinner

As if 100 different shoes, a Barney’s wardrobe, an $850 purse and eating only with chopsticks weren’t ridiculous enough, Suri Cruise just got her very own iPad! According to a hilarious report, Suri not only has one, she playsed with the thing while at dinner at Il Cantinori in NYC, too. These celebrity kids. Just no respect. An eyewitness says Suri put her stuffed animals aside to use a drawing program on the expensive piece of equipment while Tom and Katie chatted with friends. The Scientolospawn, who just turned four , played with the iPad for about 20 minutes before the family headed out of the restaurant just before midnight. Definitely an appropriate bedtime for a toddler. Suri Cruise … so stylish and tech-savvy. According to reports, iPads are sold out in many locations and the waiting list keeps growing for the new product, of which 2 million have been sold since April 3. Good to see Suri is up on the trends. We just hope she gets Katie to show her how to sync the iPad up with her iPod, iTouch and iPhone … can get a little tricky.

Adam Lambert is Seeking SYPB

If Adam Lambert were to place an online personal ad, he clearly would not be seeking a SWF with whom he could go on long beach walks. Instead, in an interview with Frontiers magazine, the singer makes it clear that he’s interested in a SYPB. What does that stand for? By the end of this article, you should be able to figure it out… On the pressure of being an openly gay musician : The thing I keep telling myself whenever the pressure starts looming is that I’ve been doing what I’ve always done, just on a larger scale now, so it’s not so bad! The opportunities that have come from American Idol are amazing. On current musical influences : I love a lot of the electronica stuff from the UK – Ive been gravitating toward that lately. I had my moment when I was all about the classic rock years back, but lately it’s more about pop-electro stuff. I love Goldfrapp, La Roux. And all of the American pop divas, of course: Gaga, Christina, Madonna, Rihanna. I love all of them. On the reception he’s received : At first I didn’t know if the gay community was really into this or not, what I’m doing. And then slowly but surely I was traveling internationally and domestically and met a lot of gay men and women who were really excited about what’s going on with my record and what I’m doing, and it feels really nice for my community to acknowledge it. Lambert was then asked if he’d rather sleep with Ryan Seacrest or Simon Cowell, a hilarious question. His response: Ew. Neither one of them is my type at all. They’re both too old for me. I like pretty boys in their early-to-mid twenties. Make sure you print that. We’ve done so, Adam. Single, Young, Pretty Boys, consider yourselves lucky!

Another ‘Glee’ Soundtrack Tops Billboard Album Charts

Rolling Stones, Black Keys make strong debuts on next week’s top 200. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Columbia Records You’d think that the fourth “Glee” album within seven months would burn out the audience for Fox’s runaway high school musical show. But you’d be wrong. The peppy covers juggernaut will continue its reign of chart terror next week when Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers will easily take the #1 slot thanks to sales of 136,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. The disc — featuring covers of songs by the Beatles, All-American Rejects, Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Tyler and U2 — is the second #1 “Glee” record in a row after last month’s The Power of Madonna disc. Coming in at #2 was the reissue of the Rolling Stones ‘ landmark Exile on Main St. album, which sold more than 76,000 copies. Just behind, with the best chart debut of their career, are Ohio blues duo the Black Keys , whose Brothers moved more than 73,000 copies for a #3 bid, besting a solid debut at #5 by Nas and Damian Marley ‘s collaboration Distant Relatives (57,000). (The Billboard 200 chart now includes older catalog albums like Exile ; in the current albums chart, the Keys are at #2.) Also breaking into the top 10 with a career best are Band of Horses , whose major-label debut, Infinite Arms, gave the tattoos and tumbleweeds rockers a solid #7 berth on sales of 45,000. The final debut in the top 10, at #10, is the second effort from indie-dance punks LCD Soundsystem , This Is Happening, which moved 31,000 copies. The rest of the top 10: Justin Bieber ‘s My World 2.0 (#4, 62,000), Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now (#6, 46,000), Usher ‘s Raymond v. Raymond (#8, 40,000) and AC/DC’s “Iron Man 2” soundtrack (#9, 32,000). The National ‘s stay the top was short-lived, as their latest, High Violet, falls 12 spots in week two to #15 (22,000). Meanwhile, the long-anticipated full-length debut of R&B freakazoid Janelle Monae , The Archandroid, hits #17 (21,000), followed by the return of Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek’s Reflection Eternal , Revolutions Per Minute (#18, 21,000). The second album from Jack White’s Dead Weather also had a brief sojourn near the top, as Sea of Cowards shed 72 percent of its business in week two, plunging 25 spots to #30 (13,000). A rarities comp of the Stones’ Exile also comes in at #50, selling nearly 9,000 copies. Look for more shake-ups at the top next week when new albums from the reunited Stone Temple Pilots , rapper Cam’ron and the latest from Jack Johnson hit shelves.
