Nicki puts her bangin’ body to work for the camera and talks The Pink Print, Drake, her family and more YMCMB first lady Nicki Minaj is about a month away from the release of her latest album The Pink Print and she recently took her well-endowed talents over to Complex Magazine while making her media rounds. Gracing the cover of the Complex December issue, Nicki also sat down for an in-depth chat with the magazine where she opened up about everything from feeling guilty over her relationship with her family, loving Drake to death , wanting to have babies, her album and more. Check out a few interview excerpts below: via Complex Magazine On feeling guilty over sacrificing family time in light of her success: When you’re working and you’re busy and you’re successful, no matter what, something suffers, whether it’s your relationship with your mother, your relationship with your whole family, not being able to go to your brother’s graduation…. Certain things suffer and take the back burner, not because they’re on the back burner in your heart but because the world just moves so quickly. A lot of people, when they’re chasing their dreams, they have to leave people they love. A lot of artists feel that guilt but they don’t express it. I live in L.A., so when I wake up in the morning, I can’t just run across the street and hug my mother, hug my little brother, kiss my little brother or older brother. I have to get on a six-hour flight to see them, and then, even when I go to New York, I’m lucky if I can see them for a couple hours. I go to New York all the time and I’m so ashamed to say that I could be out there for a few days and not even be able to see my family because of my schedule. On similarities she sees between herself right now and “Blueprint” -era Jay Z: I can’t. I have no idea what he was doing before The Blueprint dropped. It’s not that literal. People keep asking me about Jay’s The Blueprint and they think I’m doing something like that. I made reference to The Blueprint because Jay is the biggest rapper of our time. The name of the album was inspired by Jay but not the body of work. I do think that it’s going to create new rules, though, in [the way] that [The Blueprint did]. But The New York Post has come out with the most detailed account yet of this reality star’s nuptials to Kanye West… and if even half of these items are true, everyone in charge of this debacle should be mortified. According to Page Six of that newspaper, the following all took place on Saturday in Florence: Kimye got married on a ridge atop the Forti di Belvedere, meaning everything associated with the ceremony had to be hoisted via giant crane. The bathrooms were housed in a 49-foot tall gold box that was placed alongside the dinner tables and described by one Italian as “the star of the show.” Many referred to the contraption as the Gold Toilet Tower . In lieu of place cards, stonemasons engraved the names of guests into the marble table at the spot where each were to sit. Many names were misspelled and chaos ensued when various entourage members didn’t have a place carved for them. A total of 30 life-sized nude marble statues were planned for decoration around the tables, but only 10 remained intact and four of those were missing heads. They were still used as decoration. Kanye decided at the last minute to do away with 80 moving lights that had been installed around the dance floor. They had taken four days to put up. The rapper allegedly said of the change: ” I’m in the center of this party , and I’m the only one people need to see. The rest of these people don’t need lights on them.” West also hated the all-white bar in front of the Gold Toilet Tower and started sawing it in half himself . He worked with a couple employees to tack on some raw wood and then declared the item “art.” The $136,000 sound system was dubbed not “Minimalist” enough by the artist, who used his iPod for all music until after dinner. Jaden Smith donned a white Batman costume and ran around like crazy off from 8:30 p.m. until 10:25 p.m., smashing glasses off tables. Kardashian was 25 minutes late to the wedding. One older woman fell down from being so drunk and a Justin Bieber fan who crashed the festivities fell from a tower and was sent to the hospital. Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox covers the new issue of Time magazine and opens up to the respected news weekly about the unique challenges she’s faced as a transgender actress. “I just thought that I was a girl and that there was no difference between girls and boys,” Cox says of her childhood gender identity .”I think in my imagination I thought that I would hit puberty and I would start turning into a girl.” Cox shares some horrifying instances of childhood bullying and the many difficulties she’s faced both before and after transitioning. Asked to summarize what she’d like the uninformed to know about trangender people, Cox says: “There’s not just one trans story. There’s not just one trans experience…If someone needs to express their gender in a way that is different, that is okay, and they should not be denied healthcare. They should not be bullied.” Cox is the first transgender person to be featured on the cover of Time . She is, of course, best known for playing Sophia Burset on OINTB . According to the New York Post , Gaga has started issuing demands to photo agencies , giving them exclusives in exchange for their promise to Photoshop her pics according to her specifications. Photographers at a Gaga event last week were reportedly told to “smooth out her jaw line and thin her arms” as well as “smooth out and thin her legs.” So much for “born this way!” Some photographers and event planners are getting fed up, with one coordinator anonymously describing Gaga as a “control freak.” Others don’t seem to mind the demands and are likely grateful for the exclusives. Kevin Mazur – a photographer who gained sole rights to photograph Gaga’s final show at the Roseland Ballroom – says similar demands aren’t all that uncommon. “It’s like any other artist I work with and it’s very minimal because we want to get the photos out there right away,” said Mazur. “She caters to the paparazzi like no other artist I’ve seen.” Sounds like someone wants to keep getting those exclusives! But not every celebrity shares Gaga’s view on photo enhancement.
