‘I’ve worked harder than probably anyone I know, at least in the music industry,’ she says in the saucy cover story. By Kara Warner Beyonce in the February 2013 issue of GQ Magazine Photo: Terry Richardson / GQ
Emma Stone covers the February issue of Glamour UK, addressing a topic relevant in Hollywood these days due to the death of Chris Guerra : The paparazzi. “It’s weird in Los Angeles…[photographers are] hiding out everywhere,” Stone tells the magazine. “The hardest thing is that it makes me act like an a–hole because I now have this weird level of paranoia that I never had before.” Stone expounds: “It feels like having a private investigator on you or something. You find yourself walking around holding your head up like you’re looking in the mirror – and your friends are wondering what’s wrong with you. “Then I feel like a jerk because half the time there’s nobody there … still, I really don’t want to be caught with a burger all over my face.” Fair enough certainly. A controversial Israeli law banning too-skinny models is in effect as of January 1, 2013, prompting praise, controversy and debate over how much weight it will hold. So to speak. The law requires models to prove they have maintained a Body Mass Index (BMI) of at least 18.5 for three months prior to a fashion shoot or show. That means a 5’8” woman can weigh 119 pounds minimum. The law also requires advertisers to disclose if they have retouched or doctored photos. “This law is another step in the war against eating disorders,” said physician and law co-sponsor Rachel Adatto (with Danny Danon) of the act. Underweight models, she explained, “can no longer serve as role models for innocent young people who adopt and copy the illusion of thinness.” But critics of the law in this country say it is misguided, focusing on weight instead of health, and doomed to fail due to the muscle of the fashion industry. “I think it’s an approach that isn’t going to work,” eating disorder expert Susan Ice, V.P. of clinical services at Renfrew Center, told Yahoo! Shine . “I’ve learned that designers are really artists, and we have free speech here.” “We can’t tell anyone how to do art. If designers want women to look like boys or designers want women to look like 8-year-olds, you’re not going to change that.” But a champion of the new law, Adi Barkan, a former fashion-model agent in Israel, says the threat of eating disorders and body image issues is too great. “I became immersed in this world very quickly. I gave up the agency and photography and delved into the dark world of anorexics and bulimics,” he said. “I realized that only legislation can change the situation. There was no time to educate so many people, and the change had be forced on the industry.” “There was no time to waste, so many girls were dieting to death.” Even critics, including Ice, say there’s no denying that images from Hollywood and the fashion industry can be difficult for young women to deal with. “Certainly I don’t believe the modeling industry has caused the rise in eating disorders, but it makes it harder,” she says of the struggle faced by many. “It’s a difficult recovery environment, worshiping thinness as the beauty ideal.” One amazing upside? These Kate Upton bikini photos . No scary-low BMI worries on that page. Just a whole lot of distractions at work and school.
Kelly Clarkson is engaged to Brandon Blackstock . So you would think the rumors that this American Idol champion is a lesbian might have stopped by now, right? Wrong. In the February issue of Cosmopolitan , the artist says she’s “never insulted” by talk of her sexuality . “I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever,” she says to the magazine. “Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it’s not just my thing. I’ve always battled for the boys’ team.” Clarkson also addresses her body shape in the issue, saying she “literally dropped 18 pounds in a month.” What’s her secret? “I was working with a trainer, and she said, ‘You’d be amazed the amount of weight you can drop by halving your portions. I know it sounds crazy, but do it for two weeks and watch what happens.’ I just cut back my portions, I stopped eating late at night, and I work out a little more than I used to.” Sounds simple enough, huh? And now Kelly has a figure both men and women can admire. Go ahead, both genders. She’s cool with it!
I never tire of looking at Kristen Stewart. In the new issue of V Magazine , which features the On The Road actress in a 10-page photo spread,by Inez & Vinoodh and on its cover, writer Sarah Cristobal writes that there is “a slightly feral air” to Stewart’s presence, and that’s exactly what makes her so fascinating to watch on and off screen. I wish On The Road had been a more cohesive movie, and a better showcase for Stewart’s talents post- Twilight Saga , but she clearly has no regrets. The actress tells V that the Walter Salles picture has been “a fucking amazing experience. I would have done anything, I would have played any part.” She adds that the character she did play, Marylou, who was based on Beat icon Neal Cassady’s onetime wife LuAnne Henderson, was “remarkable because she has a tough core. When you are a teenager a year can be crippling to maneuver through, you’re just out there questioning things and so to be completely ok with that and not think that there is anything wrong with you, that’s something I’ve recently understood,” says Stewart, who points out that she’s 22 where “Marylou started this whole thing when she was 15.” As Stewart told Movieline , playing Marylou helped her to be “unabashedly” herself , and she elaborates on that theme a bit with V . After a year in which she weathered a storm of overheated Scarlet Letter -style publicity and issued a public apology for cheating on reported boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders , Stewart tells the publication: “I have realized that you can close yourself off to life if you put walls up, but it’s a difficult thing…people can’t see in and you also can’t see out. So I have gotten quire comfortable with just being unafraid. I keep saying the same thing, its not about being fearless but really just embracing the fears and using them. (..) I don’t want to deprive myself of any bit of life. Oh yes, and if you’re wondering which actresses are on Stewart’s radar, she says there “are many cool girls out there” and name-checks Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and her Twilight Saga and The Runaways co-star Dakota Fanning. While the Kim Kardashian pregnant news may have reality TV’s First Family putting on a giddy face in public, the latest issue of Star alleges that life is getting ugly behind the scenes. Yes, the Bruce and Kris Jenner divorce may soon be a reality, according to this tabloid, and the case is bound to turn nasty. According to imaginary inside tabloid sources, Bruce is most concerned over his daughters and the fear that Kris will exploit them just like she did with Kim Kardashian . In fact, Bruce is worried that “[Kris] might encourage Kendall to make a sex tape,” the magazine actually claims, adding, of course, that Kris would then “be pulling the strings behind the scenes, making sure word gets out” about the video. Sounds crazy… but have you met Kris Jenner?!? The mom-ager, meanwhile, is reportedly determined to remain married. “Kris made it clear that if Bruce embarrassed her by filing for divorce, she’d crush him and expose all the skeletons in his closet,” a source says. We doubt any of this is true, but allow us to issue a warning to Baby Kimye anyhow: make a run for it, kid.
FHM lives…did you know that there was a time when FHM paid me to link to their content every single month cuz they didn’t understand why I was a bigger deal than them…at least on the internet…. We hope you’re sitting down, but Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers are still happily married despite their ugly Twitter fight. She says it was “just a day break.” She Tweeted, “I live [with] my husband and we are married. I’m not believing any rumors. We are happy and everyone wants us together and [to] make this work.” That inspiring message is a far cry from just a few days ago, when the Teen Mom 2 star became absolutely outraged with her husband of one month. Rogers, who had previously expressed concern over her drug use , was talking on the phone one night to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Taylor. “Dude, he told everyone that he wanted Taylor to never ever contact him again then he waits until I’m asleep to talk to her?” Jenelle Evans Tweeted. Courtland Rogers responded to his wife’s accusations on Twitter, writing, “So I just got broke up with because of talking to my lil girl on the phone last night.” But Evans didn’t buy it. “First of all, why is your daughter up at 11 p.m. anyways when you were ‘talking’ to her on the phone?!” she asked. “Haha right.” The MTV star then said she was single, adding, “Why would I come back ‘home’ when you just threw my suitcase down the stairs and at your own sister?” She abruptly peaced out of Twitter as well, but on January 1, she was back online and claiming she had reconciled with her husband over New Year’s. “For the record I never broke up with Jenelle,” Rogers noted. “We took a day break with our families to enjoy time with them. I love her with all my heart.” While she’s apparently made up with her man – and they’ve made it a whole month without filing for divorce – she took the time to go off on his ex. “About this whole Taylor situation,” she Tweeted. “Courtland has told Taylor to please leave us alone and she gets all mad and posts tweets. That’s all!” “I have NOT been staying at my moms either I’ve been living with him and been there everyday so no Court hasn’t seen her at ALL, lmao.” “And I hate that fucking cunt dude… Idk why she says we ‘get along’ and ‘I’m being played’ becuz she wants the D. It’s immature… Stop.” Finally, and most hilariously, the 21-year-old Carolina hurricane added, “I’m so sick of my business being posted all over twitter.” Sure you are Jenelle. Sure you are.
