Randi Zuckerberg Accidentally Shares Family Photo, Complains About Facebook Privacy

Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Randi accidentally shared a private family photo, apparently confused by or unable to grasp Facebook’s privacy settings. How’s that for the definition of irony? Randi Zuckerberg, the former head of marketing for Facebook and the executive producer of Bravo’s reality series Silicon Valley, posted the above photo on Facebook. The candid family picture is of Randi and her family (including sister Arielle Zuckerberg and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg) reacting to the new Poke app. The problem arose when Callie Schweitzer, director of marketing and projects at VoxMedia, saw the photo on Facebook , but posted it publicly on Twitter. Randi was not happy. “@cschweitz not sure where you got this photo. I posted it on FB. You reposting it to Twitter is way uncool,” Zuckerberg said in a tweet to Schweitzer. “@randizuckerberg I’m just your subscriber and this was top of my newsfeed. Genuinely sorry but it came up in my feed and seemed public,” Schweitzer said. Randi then replied that Schweitzer could view it most likely because she was also friends with Randi’s other sister, so she could see tagged images of her. Randi later deleted her original tweet to @cshweitz and also asked her to delete the tweet she posted with the picture of the Zuckerberg family. Schweitzer kindly obliged, but the damage from Zuckberberg’s mishap was done. Randi also appears to have deleted most of the back and forth between herself and Schweitzer, but later posted a telling comment about the incident. “Digital etiquette: always ask permission before posting a friend’s photo publicly. It’s not about privacy settings, it’s about human decency,” Randi Tweeted. Or don’t post it at all if you’re not clear on who can see it.

David Gregory, Meet the Press Investigated For Gun Display

NBC’s Meet the Press and host David Gregory are being investigated by officials after his display of a high capacity gun magazine on television Sunday. Some reports say Gregory was cleared by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to show the weapon on television (below). Others aren’t so sure. Ironically, Gregory’s display took place during an interview with the NRA President on Meet the Press , in which gun laws and gun safety were debated. If anything, he was making a point about the power and danger of such weapons during a gun control debate of sorts – not flashing it for any other purpose. In fielding NBC’s inquiry about the magazine, an ATF official contacted the D.C. police to find out if the District of Columbia had a law prohibiting such a display. The D.C. police official concluded David could legally show the magazine, provided it was empty, and told the ATF, who gave Meet the Press the green light. However, it appears district police are now conflicted about their own answer. Wayne LaPierre on Meet the Press D.C. police released a statement today, saying “NBC contacted the Metropolitan Police Dept. inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for this segment.” “NBC was informed that it was not permissible and the request was denied.” Basically, David Gregory is currently being investigated for displaying the magazine, despite apparently trying successfully to have the display cleared. Bureaucrats.

Taylor Swift: My Life is Amazing!

Taylor Swift may be involved in a burgeoning feud with Miley Cyrus , but the singer is featured in the latest issue of WebMD and tells the magazine that she tries hard not to remain down for long. “The fact is, my life is amazing,” Swift says. “So when I’m getting too much in my own head, I try to say all the things I’m grateful for. Such as? “It can be simple things – like if I’m complaining about how my cellphone is working slowly, I think about how slowly they worked five years ago. It’s OK to have glass-half-empty days, but not too many of them. I place a higher priority on being happy than I do on freaking out.” And Taylor has few reasons these days to be upset in general, as she appears to be happily dating Harry Styles , while her new album has gone triple platinum. “There’s a huge amount of pressure and responsibility because millions of people are going to potentially spend their hard-earned money on the album,” Swift says of making a CD. “And there’s a great responsibility for the critics who will write about it, and responsibility for the girl who is going through a breakup and needs a song about what she’s feeling, and responsibility for the girl who doesn’t feel good about herself and needs a song for that, too, and I worry about saying or doing the wrong thing.” Has Swift succeeded in meeting these responsibilities? Most fans would say yes.

That Other White Meat: New Pork Investigation Finds Rampant Numbers Of Bacteria In Meat Sold In Stores!

The amount of antibiotics pumped into pigs is just plain ‘ole ridiculous! According to The Huffington Post : A new Consumer Reports investigation of pork sold in grocery stores found that a startlingly large proportion of tested meat contained one or more potentially harmful bacteria, some of which showed signs of antibiotic resistance, raising new concerns about the safety of the national pork supply. But the investigation didn’t find the pathogens traditionally associate with pork — trichinosis and salmonella — to be the most widespread problems. Instead, a whopping 69 percent of the pork chop and ground pork samples tested by the magazine contained Yersinia enterocolitica bacteria, which sickens about 100,000 people a year, many of them children. Eleven percent contained Enterococcus bacteria and 7 percent contained Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Another 4 percent contained salmonella and 3 percent contained listeria. In general, the ground pork samples were more likely to harbor pathogens than the chop samples. The overwhelming majority of the bacteria found in the samples was resistant to at least one form of antibiotic — ranging from 63 percent of the Enterococcus to 93 percent of the Staphylococcus aureus. And many of those that were resistant to one kind of antibiotic were also resistant to several others. Most experts believe that the widespread administration of non-therapeutic antibiotics in livestock — which makes animals grow more quickly than they otherwise would — contributes to the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the environment. But antibiotics aren’t the only drug given to livestock. The Consumer Reports investigators also found traces of the drug ractopamine, which promotes growth and leanness in pigs, in about a fifth of the samples tested. Ractopamine is legal and generally considered fairly safe in America, but it is banned in China, Taiwan and most of the EU, and has been associated with anxiety and restlessness among those who ingest too much. The nearly 200 samples came from major grocery chains and national brands of pork from throughout the country. Consumer Reports recommends that consumers cook all their pork to 160 degrees to ensure that the bacteria, at least, is killed. You can read the full report on the Consumer Reports website or in the January 2013 issue of the magazine. That’s just nasty…you are what you eat folks! Images via shutterstock
