Jennifer Hudson doesn’t merely cover the latest issue of Good Housekeeping – the Oscar winner looks darn good while doing so! The former American Idol finalist has incredibly lost 80 pounds, and she says her son doesn’t even recognize his own mother when looking at photos or clips of her former self. “What’s funny is that he’s never known me overweight,” Hudson tells the magazine. “If he sees a clip of the old Jennifer from Dreamgirls , he doesn’t know who it is.” Hudson says she doesn’t torture herself to remain skinny, though. One has to cheat to maintain sanity. “I’ll find a calm, peaceful moment, and I’ll sit back and eat my chocolate, which I make sure is really good quality, too,” she says, adding this piece of advice: “Quality over quantity!”
Demi Lovato battled Miley Cyrus in the championship of THG’s Celebrity of 2011 Tournament, narrowly edging the singer/actress by .2% of the vote . In the latest issue of Seventeen , meanwhile, Demi says our readers came up with the perfect title-round matchup, considering she and her fellow young star have always had a friendly, contentious relationship. “Miley and I are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it’s brutal and we’re like, ‘We’re never going to be friends again!'” Lovato tells the magazine. “Then two days later, we’re like, ‘I love you and I miss you!'” Aside from Cyrus, Demi opened up to the publication about other famous friends and how they reacted to her tumultuous year, which was lowlighted by a trip to rehab . SELENA GOMEZ and her “never” fight, Lovato says: “She’s not a confrontational person at all. Both [she and Miley] will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we’ve been through so much together.” TAYLOR SWIFT “Tweeted ‘Pray for Demi,’ which I thought was really awesome of her.” KIM KARDASHIAN called Lovato and “was there for me when not many people were. I could count on my hands how many people were there for me. So the people who were, I didn’t forget it.”

Just when people thought we were living in a post-racial climate, “N***agate” happens. There’s no possible way you don’t remember a Rihanna taking to Twitter to beast on a Dutch magazine for calling her a “n***a b***h.” Once the magazine received hella backlash, the editor-in-chief, Eva Hoeke , issued and apology and resigned from her position. Well, the publisher of the magazine, Yves Gijrath , decided to release his own statement. What it comes down to is the publisher is saying they didn’t print anything offensive because the article was meant as a joke. “[T]here is nothing wrong in the magazine,” he said. “[Hoeke] presented [the offensive article] as a joke, but it most certainly was not a joke. It was an interpretation [of a fashion style] … She should have said: ‘we did not realize this interpretation is such a touchy subject. We never meant any harm and offer our sincere and upright apologies.’” *blank stare* For real?! Spotted at Black Voices . We couldn’t do anything but shake our head at this one. Earlier today, New York Magazine posted it’s “2011 Fifteen Minutes Awards,” which was a list of all the people who became briefly gained some kind of popular culture relevancy in 2011. This was their description of the list: “Oh, for the days of Alvin Greene and Steven Slater. Remember them? Exactly. In Daily Intel’s third annual Fifteen Minutes Awards, we pay one last tribute to the year’s newsworthy people whose names we couldn’t remember and had to Google — those who made headlines briefly, either for their own foibles or for the problems others forced upon them, but whose time has since expired (figuratively, in most cases). Like last year, there are sex scandals, viral Internet videos, and more, but the stars are all different, except in the sense that they’re no longer stars, and likely never will be again.” And on that list, as you can see above, they included Troy Davis . Which, of course, didn’t sit well with A LOT OF PEOPLE (the BOSSIP staff included). And, as with all such controversial things, New York Magazine has since backed all the way down, going so far as to take down the entire post instead of replacing Troy Davis with someone who did actually belong on that list. They explained their decision with this: Earlier today, we put up a slideshow of fifteen people who’d become briefly famous in 2011, including executed death-row inmate Troy Davis. His inclusion among a list of people who were mostly tabloid staples sparked some understandable outrage. We’ve decided to remove the post. But, as one reader commented on the NY Mag apology stated: clearly, the majority of people who championed, tweeted, and expressed outrage about Troy Davis and the injustice done to him, have probably not given that man a single thought since the last week of September, when he was executed. Some of you may have not ever even heard or read his name before September of this year and have not read or heard his name since. So, was New York Mag really wrong for including Troy Davis? Or just for doing it in such an irreverent way? More On Bossip! Silver Spoon Swag: Stars That Were Born Rich Already! The divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony may have started off amicably enough… but the former’s relationship with backup dancer Casper Smart has thrown a contentious wrench into the couple’s split. Following reports that Anthony was throwing tantrums over J. Lo moving on so quickly, the latest issue of Us Weekly states that Anthony is set to cause major problems between the pair. After initially ceding primary custody to the American Idol judge, Anthony is now “going back on his word and saying his wants joint custody,” an insider tells the tabloid . Why would Anthony use the former couple’s twins in such a manner? The answer is simple, says this source: “He wants to make Jennifer suffer because she’s having fun with someone new, and he knows this will hurt her on the deepest level.” Overall, the divorce is “getting vicious,” the magazine reports.
Barry-O decided to go in on the Speaker of the House for the payroll tax issues: In a surprise appearance at Tuesday afternoon’s White House briefing, President Obama called on House Republicans, and specifically, Speaker of the House John Boehner, to stop playing games with the payroll tax cut extension. The President slammed one House Republican who called the tax cut deal “high stakes poker,” and demanded an end to “brinkmanship.” The House has rejected a bipartisan bill that passed the Senate on Saturday by an 89-10 margin, which has placed Speaker Boehner, who initially praised the Senate bill as a “good deal” and a “victory for Republicans,” in the President’s doghouse. The Senate deal calls for a two-month extension, but the House has disingenuously called for a conference to negotiate a full-year extension. President Obama explained, “In fact, the House Republicans say they don’t dispute the need for a payroll tax cut. What they’re really trying to do, what they’re holding out for, is to wring concessions from Democrats on issues that have nothing to do with the payroll tax cut — issues where the parties fundamentally disagree.” “So a one-year deal is not the issue,” the President continued. “we can and we will come to that agreement, as long as it’s focused on the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance and not focused on extraneous issues.” President Obama also blasted House Republicans for treating the payroll tax cut as a game. “I saw today that one of the House Republicans referred to what they’re doing as, ‘high-stakes poker.’ He’s right about the stakes, but this is not poker, this is not a game — this shouldn’t be politics as usual.” Source
