I used to be a fan of Amanda Seyfried. Is The Black Community To Blame For White America’s Perception Black Entertainment? Earlier this week, a screening was held at Manhattan’s SVA theatre in NYC to premiere the upcoming film “Baggage Claim,” which stars Paula Patton, Derek Luke, Jenifer Lewis and Jill Scott, among other prominent African-American entertainers. During a Q & A session with the cast following the viewing of the movie, the film’s director David. A. Talbert made an interesting statement in response to a question on how more “black romantic comedies” like “Baggage Claim” could make their way into the mainstream film industry. “Well, wait…..why does it have to be a “black” romantic comedy?” he responded. “Why can’t we just say “romantic comedy?” “It’s really just a relatable romantic comedy that just so happens to feature a predominantly African-American cast.” Talbert then went on to address how we as a community often put ourselves in a box when it comes to our own perception of who we are in mainstream entertainment, which inevitably contributes to the skewered perception that White America has of African-Americans in the entertainment industry. So Bossip fam, do you agree with director Talbert about the black community limiting our impact on the entertainment industry through the language that we use to describe our own presence? Kim Kardashian Calls Kanye West Gay Rumors Absurd According to Radar Online Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been fighting rumors that her baby daddy Kanye West is gay and getting close to another man and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that she was “horrified” by the comments. “Kim couldn’t even believe that people were saying that Kanye was gay,” a source close to the reality superstar said. “She flat out said that that the rumors and reports are absurd.” A report in a weekly magazine claimed that Kanye was getting close to a man that Kim knows and the two have been spending time together in New York and Paris. And Kanye has previously been linked to the same man, as numerous people commented on the Web. Kim is expecting her first child with Kanye this summer and their relationship has been strained lately so this latest barrage of attacks against him have really tested their romance. Due to their schedules they have spent more time apart then together. Another factor putting stress on their relationship is Kanye’s dislike of photographers following him everywhere when he’s with Kim, who thrives on keeping her name and image in the mainstream public. Earlier this week Kanye flipped out when he bumped his head on a sign, because he was looking down while walking as photographers annoyed him. Now the gay rumors have added more discomfort to the relationship. “These attacks against Kanye really seemed to hit home for Kim,” the source said about the pregnant. “She said that she can take criticism about her weight or her family but when people attack Kanye it really hurts her feelings and makes her mad. “Kim knows that Kanye isn’t gay. She is just dismissing these stories and trying to ignore them completely.” Kanye may dress fruity from time to time, but he makes great music so we give him a pass. Splash News

INTERVIEW: Rob Zombie Says ‘The Lords of Salem’ Is ‘Pretty Out There’ But ‘The Walking Dead’ Is Not

What horror fan doesn’t watch  The Walking Dead ?  Musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie jokes it’s because he needs to catch up on  Cheers first, but the reality is he’s a horror purist who takes the genre very seriously.  That dedication led to Bob Weinstein handpicking him to relaunch the  Halloween   franchise back in 2007, and  Paranormal Activity   and  Insidious  producers Jason Blum and Oren Peli seeking out Zombie to direct an original horror flick. They certainly got one in The Lords of Salem . Blum and Peli gave Zombie complete creative control over the feature, and he marvels at what that freedom allowed him to accomplish.  “I remember the first time I watched this movie with an audience.  The whole last chunk of the movie I was like ‘Wow. This really could only be made without studio meddling,” Zombie told me, adding: “‘ Cause it’s pretty out there .” How out there?  Zombie said friends have told him “Man, it’s weird.  No, it’s weirder than that…No, it’s still weirder than that!” But Zombie says he doesn’t worry about his work being accepted by the mainstream.  “I really just do what I like,” he explained. “I don’t understand what the general public likes sometimes.” In fact, Zombie feels there’s only two things you can count on with universal appeal: Coca-Cola and the Beatles . Oh isn’t that ironic? Things have gotten so bad for Justin Bieber lately that even Chris Brown is praying for the kid. Via Page Six reports : In a sign that we might have entered some bizarre celebrity parallel universe, Chris Brown said that he’s praying for Justin Bieber. “I pray for him, I pray for myself. I think we both go through it because we’re great artists and he’s a big artist to his fans,” Brown told Power 105.1 . Brown continued on the radio show saying that he and the young singer have something else in common: their treatment in the media. When the R&B singer was asked about how he deals with the paparazzi, he said “It’s sorta like what Justin Bieber’s going through right now.” Brown, 23, also tried to explain why the 19-year-old pop sensation might be acting out. “Being young, having a limitless amount of income, whatever you wanna do as a young guy, and then at the same time, you don’t have nobody that’s gonna say, ‘Hey, bro, you look wack right now.’” Brown then credited his team for helping him change for the better. “For me, I had the people that said it and it got through eventually, but I think right now, his team is wonderful.” Brown, however, does not agree with how Bieber’s pal, Lil Twist, has been cast as a negative influence. “I feel like the mainstream media—and I don’t care, I ain’t in it, this my own thing I’m gonna say about it—I just feel like they’re gonna target the little black boys around him and say, ‘Hey, so this is why he’s doing it,’” Brown said. He added that if he was the one hanging out with Bieber, the blame would have been put on him. Breezy makes some good points but he still has a ways to go before he’s out of the woods himself. Riiiiight?
