Ender’s Game Still: Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham

The first image of Ben Kingsley from  Ender’s Game has arrived! Judging by the face tattoo, Kingsley brought in Mike Tyson to do his makeup. Kingsley stars as Mazer Rackham, a military hero in the war against alien attackers. The film follows a group of kids in a Military Academy as the world searches for its next Rackham. Asa Butterfield stars as Ender, a boy who just may be the hero they’ve been searching for. The film is adapted from Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel of the same name. Check back next week for the first  Ender’s Game trailer, and catch it in theaters November 1!

Race Matters: Actress Michelle Williams Accused Of Racism Over Native American Get Up On Magazine Cover

Another day, another racist “Indian costume” … Michelle Williams Native American Style On AnOther Magazine Cover Deemed Offensive Hollyweird actress Michelle Williams is in hot water over her altered appearance on the cover of a British magazine. Via DailyMail reports : Michelle Williams has been accused of racism after appearing to dress as a Native American on a magazine cover. The actress donned a series of eye-catching outfits for British magazine AnOther, including one showing her in long braids, beads and with a feather in her hair. The cover went viral as blogs labelled it ‘offensive’, ‘racist’ and ‘sterotypical’ and demanded an apology. New York based online magazine Refinery29 slated the cover, stating: ‘We can’t believe how offensive Michelle Williams’ latest cover is.’ ‘They added super-long, thick, black extensions and braided them — and darkened her eyebrows,’ they wrote. ‘Then there’s the makeup. ‘The photo is in black-and-white, so you can’t tell for sure if they’ve altered her normally fair skin, but there is some definite contouring around the nose and the cheekbones that not only makes her look nearly unrecognizable, but also appears to mimic the stark relief of facial features often seen in early portraits of Native American women. ‘The same mimicry applies her stoic, unsmiling pose – also a typical trope in that particular genre and period of art history.’ The Huffington Post also waded into the debate, writing: ‘While not everyone might be offended, there have been all too many instances of fashion professionals ruffling feathers with ill-conceived Native American-inspired projects.’ A publicist for the 32-year-old did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The actress is not the first to accidentally offend the Native American community. Victoria’s Secret was forced to apologize after dressing model Karlie Kloss in a feathered headress and face paint as she strutted down the runway in her underwear at their show last year. Do you find the cover offensive? Do you think Hollywood and the media should stop attempting to recreate “Native American” themes and costumes for people who do not have indigenous roots? Or do you think people are overreacting this time around?

Really??? BK Assemblyman Dons Black Face, Afro Wig For Purim But Swears “There Is Not A Prejudiced Bone In My Body”

Can’t we all just agree that there is never, ever an appropriate place for blackface ? We just don’t understand why these politicians and other folks set themselves up to be called racist then act surprised when people actually do! Via NYDailyNews reports : Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind was sharply criticized Monday for dressing up in blackface and a large Afro wig to a Purim holiday party he hosted on Sunday. Hikind said the costume, which also included dark sunglasses and a bright orange basketball jersey, was part of a “good fun” celebration of the festive Jewish holiday. “Yes, I wore a costume on Purim and hosted a party,” Hikind wrote on his blog Monday morning. “Most of the people who attended also wore costumes. Everywhere that Purim was being celebrated, people wore costumes. It was Purim. People dress up.” Hikind added he was “intrigued that anyone who understands Purim—or for that matter understands me—would have a problem with this. This is political correctness to the absurd. There is not a prejudiced bone in my body.” But a Brooklyn city councilman, Democrat Charles Barron, said of the costume, “It is racist.” Barron dismissed Hikind’s comments justifying the get-up. “That is a bunch of crap. He is trying to justify his racism,” Barron said. Barron added: “If he wanted to find somebody who liked strange wild and crazy, he should look in the mirror. He didn’t have to pick on us.” A photo of Hikind in the costume was posted on his Facebook page before being removed Monday morning. Hikind told the website Politicker, which first reported that he wore the costume, that a professional makeup artist came to his home to apply the makeup, which proved difficult to remove afterward. The assemblyman said he spent more than 30 minutes in the shower scrubbing his face and still could not remove all of it. “I came out and I wiped my face and I still had stuff on my face. It’s going to take me a while,” the assemblyman explained. “But it’s all worth it, I would do it again in a minute.”. SMH @ “I would do it again in a minute.” Those need to be his final words as a politician. Don’t vote for this idiot. Facebook

Hi my name is Sammy and I met Justin on October 6th, 2012. His fanclub BieberFever was having a contest to win M&G’s and all you had to do was take a picture of all of your Justin merchandise. I decided to enter it when originally, I wasn’t going to because I didn’t think I’d have any chance of winning. I couldn’t even fit all of my Justin merchandise into one picture. I e-mailed them it on September 26th and my concert wasn’t until October 6th, and I wasn’t going to find out if I’d won or not until the day before the show. Then the day before the concert after I’d gotten home from school, I was sitting on my couch just playing on my phone. I thought to myself, “Oh well I should keep checking my email in case I’ve won.” Before I even opened the message, I saw that there was a new one from the BieberFever website! It COMPLETELY brought tears to my eyes and I ran outside to where my mom was. I was shaking and crying. I said, “HOLY SHIT MOM, I WON!!!!” I handed her my phone and she said, “Oh..my..god..we have to call your dad right now!!” She called him and I was hysterically crying, like I legitimately couldn’t stop sobbing. I was hyperventilating and my makeup was running because I was crying so much. The next day we left my house at about 12:00 in the afternoon since the meet & greet started at about 4:30 p.m. When we got our meet & greet wristbands, I almost started hysterically crying again. We then got into line. All of the sudden, I saw Scooter come outside so I was freaking out! I tried to get a picture with him but he went back inside too soon. Then I saw Scrappy! Once we got inside and finally got into the room that Justin was in, I saw Dan! The guy that was holding the curtain open was Kenny! Ahh, I just couldn’t believe it! We had to be in groups of 6, but thankfully I was the first person to walk in the room. I walked up to Justin, and my hand was covering my mouth because I just couldn’t believe what was happening. I said, “I love you so much,” and my mom said when I first walked in, she saw him smile at me! I gave him a hug he said, “Hi how are you?” I couldn’t even answer because I was so shocked. I was standing completely side by side with my IDOL! As soon as the guy was about to take the picture, he told us to scoot in closer and Justin pulled me completely into him. My arm was around him and he had his arm wrapped around my shoulders. It was the absolute best day of my freaking LIFE! I’ve been a Belieber since 2009 and if I finally got that amazing chance to meet him in 2012 (in which I never thought I would) I promise you, you will. Believe.  See the original post here: Hi my name is Sammy and I met Justin on October 6th, 2012. His…

Critics Choice Awards Spread The Love Around, Name ‘Argo’ Best Picture

On the heels of this morning’s surprising and not-so-surprising Oscar nominations , the Broadcast Film Critics Association handed their Critics Choice Awards to a rather familiar bunch as Lincoln , Silver Linings Playbook , Argo , Zero Dark Thirty , and Skyfall nabbed multiple major honors. In fact, the BFCA, an organization comprised of TV, radio, and online journalists, spread the love around to cover just about every Oscar favorite and token consolation prize there is. Take your bow, Cloud Atlas ! One thing’s clear: At least as of the close of voting on January 8, the critics’ group was feeling the Argo love. As Zero Dark Thirty and Les Miserables cool off in the Oscar race, Ben Affleck — snubbed for the Oscar, but honored with the Critics Choice Award for Best Director — and his jaunty ensemble period picture has been sneaking back into the hearts and minds of, at least, certain pundits. The BFCA/Critics Choice Awards tend to feel like the middle ground between the Golden Globes and the Oscars in terms of sensibility and taste, while the inclusion of separate Action and Comedy categories and acting subcategories give these voters every opportunity to strategically dole out awards to the widest variety of films. More power to Jennifer Lawrence , then, who was nominated as Best Action heroine and earned not one, but two additional nods for Silver Linings Playbook , for which she vied in both the Comedy and the straight dramatic Best Actress categories. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain won the main Best Actress race, allowing both Oscar front-runners to win. That makes everyone happy, right? Emily VanCamp in Women’s Health: All-Natural and Down-to-Earth

Emily VanCamp is as glamorous – and devious – as they come on Revenge Season 2 . In real life, the beautiful 26-year-old Canadian actress seems like anything but. “When I take off my makeup, that’s my boyfriend’s favorite,” she tells Women’s Health . “To me, that’s a symbol of a great guy – someone who doesn’t care about [glamorous] stuff.” Her boyfriend, of course, is co-star Josh Bowman, with whom she recently went on a fishing trip in his native England with his father. How’d that go? “I was there in my baseball cap and these crappy fishing clothes,” she explains. “And I remember thinking, this is when I feel 100 percent comfortable – in these dirty clothes with fish guts all over them. I know it probably sounds horrendous.” “I’m at my most confident when I’m in nature and I don’t have to dress up.” When it comes to relationships, she says it’s all about effort and balance. “It’s more about accepting each other as separate people,” she says. “Laugh a lot and be really delicate with the other person’s heart, because sometimes you start to take each other for granted. Always remember, neither of you needs to be there.” “I also like to reflect,” she says. “I need that sort of peace and quiet. It’s something my friends and I laugh about: ‘Oh, Emily’s having a night to herself.’ It centers me.” Check out more Emily VanCamp photos below!

Happy 25th Birthday, Snooki!

Snooki, a.k.a. Nicole Polizzi from MTV’s Jersey Shore , is now 25 years old. Born in Chile and adopted by Italian-American parents, the 4’8″ Snook drank and boned her way to reality TV stardom before – gasp – becoming a mom this year. Even more shocking? She actually appears to be a pretty good one! Snooki. She is who she is. And she turned 25 on Black Friday . Love or despise her, her tribulations on Jersey Shore have been the target of vitriolic disdain while giving the show an air of authenticity and mass appeal. She goes hard. She gets it in. Or at least she used to. She’s the Princess of F*%king Poughkeepsie, b!tch, and while you never would’ve said so a few years ago, Lorenzo and Jionni LaValle are two lucky men. With the sun setting on Jersey Shore this winter, we’d like to wish her a happy 25th birthday and reminisce about some of her finest moments below: Jersey Shore: Deena and Snooki Make Out Jersey Shore Fight – Snooki vs. Angelina Snooki Getting Punched on Jersey Shore Snooki Dances With Plant Jersey Shore Sneak Peek – Bottles Flying Snooki on WWE Snooki Wasted on Jersey Shore! Pure Comedy: Kim Kardashian Crushed After Kate Middleton Kills Her Aspirations To Rub Elbows With Royalty

Poor thang… NOT! Kim Kardashian might not hear the word No often but word on the street is Kate Middleton had no problem giving her the brush off. Via The National Enquirer : THE princess of American reality TV is getting the royal brush-off from the future Queen of England! During a London trip to promote her clan’s clothing line, KIM KARDASHIAN put word out that she’d like to take tea with Prince William’s wife KATE MIDDLETON, said a source. But Buckingham Palace sent back a not-so-diplomatic answer – GET REALl! “Kim wasn’t happy because she’s obsessed with Kate, but the Duchess of Cambridge has no interest in becoming part of the Kardashian publicity machine,” said an insider close to the royal family. “Kate can’t stand their style, and from what she knows about their TV show, it’s just a bunch of trashy people primping and yelling at each other. She’s far too polite to diss Kim to her face, but she’s got enough on her plate without having tea with someone like her.” Royalty-crazy Kim headed across the Atlantic with her sister Kourtney for the early November launch of their Kardashian Kollection fashion line. Her beau Kanye West came along, and he encouraged his bootylicious squeeze to contact the duchess, said the source. “Kanye has met Prince William, who’s a big fan of his music, and he’s become a big fan of Kate too,” said the source. “He’s even suggested to Kim that she could take a leaf out of the royal beauty’s book and tone down her makeup for a more natural look.” In a bold move, the Kardashian sisters offered Kate free samples from their British line, which includes skintight sequin minidresses, pleather pants, blue leopard-print tops and gold-studded bags, according to the source. But the Kardashians shouldn’t expect any free publicity from England’s future queen. “Kate wouldn’t be caught dead in a Kardashian outfit!” sniffed the source. “The Duchess gets free clothes sent to her every day of the week, and she always sends them back. The royal family is very careful about not being seen to endorse any product. It’s just not proper. Quite apart from that, the Kardashian outfits just aren’t appropriate for a duchess. “Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the queen in a cheap leopard-print miniskirt or gold sequined jacket!” This is hilarious to us for some reason. Kimmy Cakes clearly gets NO LOVE in certain circles. WENN
