Justin Bieber Is ‘100 Percent Behind’ Embattled Manager

‘He is someone of high moral character and principle,’ singer said of manager Scott ‘Scooter’ Braun. By Eric Ditzian Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images In both his dress and his words, Justin Bieber has been coming to the defense of his embattled manager, Scott “Scooter” Braun, who was arrested Wednesday in connection with a disorderly mall appearance by the teen pop star in November. Meeting fans in Chicago hours after the arrest, Bieber sported a “Free Scooter” T-shirt , and following Braun’s not-guilty plea to charges of reckless endangerment, criminal nuisance and endangering the welfare of a child, the 16-year-old singer released a statement to The Associated Press defending his manager. “My mother and I are 100 percent behind my manager,” he said. “He is someone of high moral character and principle. The decisions he made that day were to protect the safety of myself and my fans and I am very thankful to have someone in my life who watches over me the way Scooter does.” Braun’s arrest stemmed from an appearance at a Long Island, New York, mall that touched off unrest among the 3,000 fans who turned out to catch a glimpse of the singer. Police shut down the event when they were unable to control the crowd. Some fans refused to leave a narrow area in the mall where Bieber was supposed to sign autographs. The disturbance sent five people to the hospital with minor injuries. Braun is accused of failing to notify fans that the appearance had been canceled in a timely manner. Police had asked Island Def Jam Records executives to send a tweet informing fans of the cancellation. Island Def Jam requested that Braun send a tweet, but after an hour, he had still not complied. Braun reportedly told police that he was in a meeting, without access to a computer. Over an hour later, Braun sent two tweets and the crowd dispersed within 15 minutes. Bieber never made it inside the mall. MTV News will be rolling out previews from “The Diary of Justin Bieber” all week — don’t miss the full show, airing on MTV Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET! Corey Feldman Posts Emotional Letter To Corey Haim Online

‘I miss you so much already. When I think of something funny, I don’t know who to tell it to,’ actor wrote to his late friend. By Gil Kaufman Corey Feldman and Corey Haim Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images At the request of Corey Haim’s family, Corey Feldman didn’t attend his friend’s funeral in Toronto on Tuesday due to privacy concerns, but he posted an open letter to his “Lost Boys” co-star to mark the occasion. “This is for you on the day of your funeral,” read the note posted on Feldman’s blog . “First off I am so sorry I am not there with you today. By that I mean my physical body is not with your physical body. However you know that my heart is right at your side. You also know the only reason I am truly not there is out of respect for your mother and her wishes to minimize the media attention as much as possible. “I want your family to have a calm peaceful day. Hopefully we will not see one shot of the funeral on the news. Just know I am at home today projecting positive energy for you and your passing. “I miss you so much already. When I think of something funny, I don’t know who to tell it to. I find myself trying to call you but then remember you’re not there. I think about the new movies we will soon be doing together and then suddenly realize that the dream is over. I always feared this day would come, and often rehearsed how to face it. But once confronted with the reality of it, it’s so much more painful than I could have ever imagined. Nobody will ever understand the brotherhood we shared. Nobody will ever get the inside jokes we told. Nobody will understand the magic of 22/222. Nobody will ever know how to do the secret Corey handshake. Nobody will ever make me laugh as hard as you did. Nobody will ever make me fight as hard as you did. Nobody will ever challenge me the way you did. Nobody will ever need me the way you did.” Feldman wrote that his mission in life became saving Haim’s, an apparent reference to the battles Haim had with substance abuse . The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has said that Haim had an enlarged heart , pulmonary congestion and water in his lungs at the time of his death, though an official cause of death has been deferred pending toxicology tests. Four strong prescription medications, including one reportedly obtained from an illegal drug gang, were found near Haim’s body, though his manager and mother have said the 38-year-old actor did not die of an overdose. Hundreds of friends and family packed the Thornhill memorial chapel in Toronto on Tuesday for Haim’s funeral, according to the Toronto Star . Also on Tuesday, E! News reported that the California Attorney General’s office confirmed that an arrest had been made in connection with an ongoing investigation into a prescription drug ring that has been linked to Haim’s death. An unnamed suspect who may have had something to do with getting the actor an illegal prescription of the powerful painkiller OxyContin has been taken into custody in the case. Authorities released the 911 tape in which Haim’s mother, Judy, can be heard calling paramedics to the Los Angeles apartment she shared with her son. “He all of a sudden got out of bed,” a distraught-sounding Judy Haim said in the tape, according to a Reuters report. “He wanted to go to the bathroom and he fell on the floor, and I put him on the bed and then that was it.” Haim told the 911 operator that her son was not breathing and that he had been feeling ill before collapsing. “I never knew your death would have such a huge impact on the world,” Feldman continued in his letter. “I learned something, Corey. There are a lot of people out there who really love you, and appreciate the joy you have brought to their hearts. I only wish you could see the way the world is mourning over your absence. I wish you could see how big the story is. I wish you could see your face finally filling the cover of People magazine and Entertainment Weekly ! “That would have meant so much to you. It is such a shame they all had to wait until you were gone to give you the respect you were due as an actor, which is what you truly were. The great Canadian actor Corey Haim! I love you and I will forever keep that ring close to my heart. I will do my very best to help give you a memorial that is a celebration of your life the way you would have wanted it … with everybody laughing and rocking out! My heart is so broken and I know there are so many who feel the same way I do. We will remember your spirit and your fans will help me keep your legacy alive. I pray that you are safe and warm and finally filled with peace.” Related Videos Remembering Corey Haim MTV Rough Cut: Corey Haim Related Photos Corey Haim: A Life In Photos

Spencer Pratt Still Signed On For ‘The Hills’ Season Six

Though he says he’s taking a break to fight cyber crime, MTV says Pratt is still on the show. By Jocelyn Vena Spencer Pratt Photo: Jason Mitchell/ Getty Images “Hills” fans may have been surprised to learn last week that Spencer Pratt would no longer be managing Heidi Montag’s career, but they were probably more blown away on Monday, when Pratt told People.com that he’d be leaving the reality show behind in order to pursue a career in fighting cyber crime. But though a rep for Pratt confirms that he gave those quotes to the magazine, an MTV spokesperson seemingly contradicted his statement. “Spencer will still be a part of ‘The Hills’ season six, which will air this spring,” the spokesperson told MTV News. “In the last few months I have discovered a new passion and new purpose to my life,” Pratt told People.com , teasing his new career path. “With this in mind, I have decided to take a break from my obligations to MTV’s ‘The Hills’ and discontinue filming any more episodes for this current season.” The 26-year-old told the magazine he is currently studying software engineering with a focus on encryption at USC so that he can work for the American Defense Enterprises in their cyber security division. “Upon learning of President Obama’s declaration that the ‘cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation,’ I have decided to refocus my energy and devote my full resources to helping America face this and other unprecedented challenges,” said Pratt, whom Heidi replaced with psychic Aiden Chase as her manager. “My new mission is this: To do my part in maintaining the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent emerging technologies from threatening our nation’s security,” he added. “With that being said, I am saddened to take this break from filming MTV’s ‘The Hills.’ At this time, however, I feel I would not be honoring my country or myself if I were to continue this endeavor when I have the opportunity and the ability to assist our nation against these prevalent threats.”

Heidi Montag’s Manager Sees Dead People

Aiden Chase, the new manager of Heidi Montag after she fired Spencer Pratt, knows that not everybody’s on board with his profession – “healer and intuitive.” Whatever the hell that means. Chase says he helps people feel better about themselves and guide the future, which he can often see. He also says he has an ability to communicate with spirits. Including dead celebrities. Does that mean he can speak with Heidi Montag ‘s singing career then? Oh, we totally went there. Anyway, how did Aiden meet her? “One of my clients referred me to Spencer and Heidi,” he says. “Just after Heidi’s plastic surgery , doing healing work, energy clearing … helping put their future paths on the map. For about a month, Heidi has been asking me: ‘Be my manager.'” “When I really thought about it, really meditated, I realized I have been doing the job anyway. They had been consulting with me. It had been working for them.” Heidi Montag gets her advice from “healer” Aiden Chase. “I’m a healer and intuitive . What that means is I’m able to channel healing energy. How I like to describe that is love energy. How your mom wipes your brow and you feel better – she’s actually sending her healing energy to you.” “What we do with a healing is we set an intention and put that into effect by stating or saying: If you ask for it, it will come. I channel in the energy and it neutralizes what needs to be cleared, whether it be mind, body or spirit.” So basically, he charges an insane amount of money to blow smoke up people’s a$$es. Not a bad gig. Dude actually insists he can speak to the dead, too. Really. “Gene Kelly is one,” he says. “He represented himself to me.” “I kind of got a picture in my head of him. One of my iPods just switched to different songs, which is an interesting paranormal phenomenon, and on came a song from An American in Paris . I was like: ‘Oh. I listened and paid attention.'” “‘Hey, brother boy, this is Gene Kelly, I’m here to help you.'” She may have actually been better off with Spencer.

Heidi Montag Fires Spencer Pratt

Heidi Montag and her husband are parting ways. Business-wise. Having been managed by Spencer Pratt since she was 19 (five years ago), Heidi is replacing her pimp with Malibu-based psychic named Aiden Chase. Seriously. “After the incredible experiences I have had healing my life and truly connecting to my dreams with healer intuitive Aiden Chase, I have officially asked him to become my manager,” Montag says, apparently without sarcasm. “An intuitive psychic leading my team gives me an edge no one else has.” SEEKING NEW PIMP : Spencer Pratt just got fired by Heidi . “No longer is my husband the face of my business or managing my career,” she adds. “I am going to have Aiden Chase help manage my new life and career in a very different and positive way with light and love. The time for change is now.” “Never mix business and pleasure. We are no longer Speidi but Spencer and Heidi. I am so excited for my future and the bright successes coming my way.” Don’t hold your breath. Heidi said she made the move to “clear out the negative energy” around her. Call us crazy, but Spencer was the one trying to stop the plastic surgery binge. Despite severing business ties, the gruesome twosome will stay married. Phew. Don’t know if we could handled life without these gratuitous photo shoots .

Scam-Trafficking Games Company Insists Its Haiti Charity Was Not a Scam, Too [Social Networks]

The investigative bloggers at Brazil’s Folha Online say Zynga confirmed keeping half the money in certain fundraising campaigns linked to Haiti relief. Zynga says it’s been open about this all along. But these aren’t questions the company behind Farmville relishes. After all, Zynga’s already pulled some advertisements from its games amid a class action suit, embarrassing video and reports it earned a big chunk of money advertising misleading commercial “offers” to gullible consumers. Now comes a dust-up in Brazil. The Brazilian blog Folha, which made its name investigating Madonna’s South American philanthropy, has been issuing stories saying Zynga misled would-be Haiti donors about where their money was going. When the company responded with an official statement , Folha wrote that it “confirmed” some allegations and sidestepped others. The story was picked up in Social Media Today, which has since removed its summary of the situation from its site. Folha quotes a Zynga spokesperson confirming that a campaign last year sent 50 percent of its proceeds to Haiti — a spokesperson tells us this percentage was always disclosed to donors, see below. Zynga also told Folha that a chairtable campaign this year sent 100 percent of proceeds to Haiti, if donors bought virtual “white corn” within Farmville as stipulated in the campaign. Folha’s point seems to be that Zynga didn’t make this requirement clear, and in fact misled people in some of its message dialogs ( see the screenshots in this Folha post ) into thinking they were making donations when in fact they still needed to complete another step, buying virtual white corn, and that if they failed to do so the money would stay with Zynga. Also, if you donated more than $10 it wasn’t possible to put it all toward Haiti, Folha wrote. (Note: This post has been updated over the past two hours as new information came in; both the headline and the story itself have changed.) The company sent us the statement below, which says Zynga clearly disclosed it was keeping half the money in its first campaign: “This was noted in the description of the campaign very visibly.” Zynga pointed to this screenshot: But there’s still the question of the more recent campaign, of which the blog Folha wrote (Google translation): In January, days after the earthquake of Haiti, there was an icon in Farmville that, when clicked, inviting players to donate $ 10, $ 20, $ 30 or $ 40 for the victims. The window still wondered: “How much do you want to donate?”. And then arose options to spend $ 10, $ 20, $ 30 or $ 40. After making the payment by credit card, the player discovered that was not contributing directly to Haiti, but the money buying virtual game. Folha’s screenshots, which it says prove the above point: Zynga’s full statement: Hey Ryan-saw your post I’d like to bring some clarity around this asap. There’s confusion surrounding two very separate campaigns – one before the earthquake and one campaign that ran FOR the earthquake. In our efforts to help Haiti during the recent tragedy, FarmVille users could purchase a virtual good, white corn, of which 100% of the proceeds went to the World Food Programme (WFP) to benefit Haiti. The only way to donate to Haiti within the FarmVille game was through FarmVille cash which is the in-game currency our players use. Players who already had FarmVille cash could purchase the white corn and 100% of the player selected amount was donated to the WFP for Haiti. The amount was deducted from their account. The campaign was visibly promoted on the FarmVille site and players could see it as soon as they signed on. If players did not have enough FarmVille cash in their account, they could make up the difference by purchasing additional FarmVille cash with a credit card or Paypal account. Players would then use the desired amount of FarmVille cash to buy the special corn of which 100% of the proceeds went to the WFP. Immediately after the purchase, players got a message thanking them for their purchase as well as the virtual corn that never withered to use on their farms. Zynga communicated the amounts that had been raised to date. Later on, FarmVille players received a message thanking them for the amount the community raised, telling them how much was raised and giving them a free virtual gift. The FarmVille campaign was mirrored in some of our other games and, in total, Zynga players raised $1.5 million for the WFP for Haiti. Prior to the campaign for the earthquake, we ran programs where 50% of the proceeds went to organizations in Haiti for the welfare of women and children. All of these campaigns had a time limit to them. These campaigns raised an additional $1.2 million and the amounts raised were communicated to our users in the game and photos of the results of their donations are at our web site. In total, Zynga players have raised $2.7 million for Haiti. No doubt it is disappointing to us as a company to hear anyone question the monies raised when a UN program is verifying it. SO-what’s happening here, is people are getting our two very separate campaigns mixed up. To summarize: 1. In 2009, before the earthquake, Zynga raised $2.4 million dollars. 50% of these funds went directly to Haiti, which was $1.2 million. This is a larger percentage than most corporations and causes donate to organizations. It was at this time that 50% of the donations would go to Haiti. This was noted in the description of the campaign very visibly when players bought Sweet Seeds and they were aware that Zynga would donate 50% of the proceeds to Haiti. Please see this link and screenshot for reference: http://www.insidesocialgames.com/2009/10/07/farmville-users-grow-virtual-goods-raise-320000-for-charity/ 2. When the earthquake hit, in 2010, Zynga ran another campaign specifically for earthquake relief. This was an entirely separate campaign. At this time, we raised $1.5 million over 5 days. Hundred percent of the proceeds went to the World Food Programme (WFP) for the benefit of the Haiti earthquake victims. 3. In 2009, the donations were sent to two organizations-FATEM.org and Fonkoze.org. In 2010 for the Earthquake Relief Fund, the donations went directly to the World Food Programme (http://www.wfp.org/content/zynga-players-raise-over-15-million-haiti-five-days) Please let me know if you have any other questions. Whitney Houston Humiliates Herself in Concert

Remember when Whitney Houston was an incredible singer with a slew of number-one hits? If were born after 1992, the answer is probably: Whitney who?!? The crooner is attempting a comeback this year, performing a number of concerts in Australia. Following a stop in Brisbane this week, however, the tour is off to a worse start than last week’s Tiger Woods’ press conference . Thousands of fans walked out in the middle of the show, after Houston humilated herself with the following version of “I Will Always Love You.” In between coughing fits and flat notes, a back up singer actually sung the high parts. Amazing. Depressing… Whitney Houston in Concert How does Andrew McManus, Whitney’s tour manager, defend his client, who has an entire European tour ahead of her this spring? By admitting she’s totally washed up, but trying really, really hard. “[She] is now up on stage, warts and all, presenting herself like an open book for the world to see,” McManus said. “If they expected to hear the Whitney of 20 years ago, go buy a CD. If they want to see a true professional artist give 100%, come along and enjoy the ride of an amazing talent, on stage, letting her heart and soul out.” She’s also letting a lot of phlegm out in the clip above. Houston should probably get that checked out.

Jennifer Lopez Says She’s Already Signed New Label Deal

Singer says Love? will be out this summer. By Gil Kaufman Jennifer Lopez Photo: Mike Coppola/ Getty Images That was quick. A day after her manager confirmed that she split with longtime label home Sony Music, Jennifer Lopez announced that she has already signed a new deal and will drop her long-in-the-works comeback attempt, Love?, this summer. The Evolution Of: Jennifer Lopez “I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion in regards to my next album, titled Love? ” Lopez said, according to Billboard. “I have belonged to the Sony family since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we’ve had great success. I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure from the label. I’m also happy to say that we’ve found a new home for my album, Love?, and that it is slated for release in the summer of 2010.” Lopez did not specify what label she has signed to, but Deadline Hollywood , the blog that originally broke the story of the Sony split, reported that the singer/actress is in talks with Island Def Jam. Neither side has discussed what precipitated the split, but Deadline speculated that it might have been a response to the poor critical and commercial reception to the album’s first official single, “Louboutins,” which failed to light up the charts. The site also suggested that Lopez, who has sold nearly 12 million albums in the U.S. since her 1999 debut, could have walked voluntarily after fulfilling her Sony contract with “Louboutins” and a previously leaked single, “Fresh out the Oven.” Lopez is the musical guest and host of “Saturday Night Live” this week.
