Exec Arrested For Embezzling $1.3 Million Via NYPost A former Warner Music executive — a top Hollywood fund-raiser for President Obama — embezzled more than $1 million from the record label, Manhattan prosecutors charged Tuesday. Danielle D. Smith, 45, flew from California and turned herself in at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. She was arraigned on charges of first-degree grand larceny. Smith, who worked in the Los Angeles in the “urban” unit of Warner Music’s Atlantic Records division, allegedly used a corporate credit card to rack up $1.3 million in personal charges, prosecutors said. Smith’s duties at Warner Music, headquartered in Manhattan, included scouting and signing artists, as well as arranging their travel and lodging, sources said. But Smith also used her Warner Music credit card to fund a luxury lifestyle, sources said. She booked rooms in posh hotels and airfare for personal vacations and trips herself, and shelled out for “luxury goods” — resulting in whopping charges being billed to the company credit card between 2007 and 2011, according to law-enforcement sources. Smith resigned from Atlantic in late 2011, while she was under internal investigation for the credit card charges, sources said. Guess times have been tough for Danielle since she’s stopped stealing money from her former employer… Smith looked haggard in court, wearing black-rimmed glasses, a purple sweater and a gray wool coat. She pleaded not guilty before Justice Gregory Carro, who set bail at $1 million. Her lawyer, Scott Leemon, has represented rappers 50 Cent and Jim Jones. Smith’s mother flew with her from California and agreed to put up a retirement fund to spring her daughter on bail, working with bail bondsman to the stars Ira Judelson. “She denies the allegations and we look forward to exonerating her,” said Leemon. Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death appears to be heroin related, according to investigators, though the cause of the actor’s death has not been made official. Officials confirmed Philip Seymour Hoffman dead Sunday at his New York apartment and a deadly strain of the drug as one of the operating theories. To be clear, law enforcement sources do not know any specifics about the heroin found in the Manhattan apartment where Seymour died at the age of 46. There were 10 bags found of the drug, however, eight of them empty. Here’s where it gets particularly interesting (and very scary): Authorities have been tracking a new strain of heroin that has killed dozens on the East Coast. Already in 2014, the heroin laced with fentanyl – an extremely potent drug prescribed for terminal cancer patients – has been making the deadly rounds. The strain is 100 times more powerful than morphine , according TMZ, and is so potent that it sometimes shuts down the respiratory system altogether. Sometimes called “Theraflu,” “Bud Ice” and “24K,” the heroin strain has been linked to five deaths on Long Island, 22 in Pennsylvania and 19 on Rhode Island. That’s all in January 2014. It’s become a major thing of late. We reiterate that police are not saying this is what caused Hoffman’s death, but officials say “everything’s in play” until they get results from toxicology. Even before he walked in the door, Baldwin fumed at New York Post photographer G.N. Miller, shouting “Liar!” as he made his way into courthouse. Things were less heated, but no less intense, after that. An emotional Alec testified that he never had a sexual or romantic relationship with the Canadian actress, wiping his eyes and trying to stay composed. He said that after they met, she began leaving dozens of voicemails for him a night and eventually started threatening to show up at his homes. Baldwin shared a meal with her at a friend’s request, gave her an email address and phone number and communicated with her about acting classes. That’s when she began to barrage him with as many as 30 voicemails per night and hundreds of emails that started out as lovelorn and pleading. You big dummy. Police Detective Sues Ryan Leslie Diddy stole his girl then he finds a new girl, breaks up with her and then gets sued for a song he made about her. Damn. According to Mail Online Rapper Ryan Leslie is being sued by a New York Police Department detective for using the cop’s voice in a break-up song about his supermodel ex-girlfriend without permission. Australian bombshell Nicole Trunfio called the police on the musician in 2011 after he allegedly refused to stop calling her or knocking on her door. Detective Luis Mortimer followed up the complaint, leaving a voicemail on Leslie’s phone asking him or his lawyer to return his call. A year later, his message was being broadcast across the world in Leslie’s rap song ‘Joan of Arc.’ Now Mortimer is now taking Leslie to court after, claiming his career was damaged by the hip-hopper’s tune, which ends with the 15-year police veteran’s voicemail. According to The New York Post the jilted rapper was never arrested but he still claimed in the song to have been thrown in a holding cell for ‘messin’ wit pretty females.’ Other lines in the song include: ‘I wake up to detec’ messages in my e-mail,’and ‘since when a birthday gift is harassment/a rose gold bracelet nothing subliminal/You called your lawyer up said my actions were criminal. Girls play the victim so well — Joan of Arc.’ Mortimer only learned of his starring role a few months ago, when he started getting calls about it. ‘The song has caused him embarrassment and has damaged his credibility as a detective,’ his lawyer, Monica Kipiniak, told The Post. Mortimer claims Leslie’s unauthorized use of his voice is exploitation and violates his civil rights. He is seeking unspecified damages in a lawsuit filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court last week. In 2010, Leslie reneged on a $1 million reward he offered for the safe return of his missing laptop. The computer was found by a German man walking his dog.
