Cameron Douglas says he’s learned his lesson, but it came at a heavy price. The 33-year-old son of Haywire star Michael Douglas was sentenced to five years in prison last April, after he was caught dealing large amounts of crystal meth. Wednesday, Cameron was sentenced to an additional four-and-a-half years in prison and a $4,000 fine. The offense, again, was drug possession, behind bars . The sentence was more than twice what prosecutors had asked for. The judge, obviously very annoyed at the situation, told Cameron that he had “blown the biggest opportunity of his life,” according to The New York Post . Douglas said he was “saturated in my own shame and penitence” and begged for “the opportunity to build myself and gain the tools I need to shape my future.” “I feel so strongly, for the first time in my life, that I am truly ripe for positive reform and real achievement,” Cameron said in a Manhattan federal court filing. Cameron was previously arrested in 1999 and 2007 for drug possession, and perhaps for that reason, the judge was less than sympathetic this morning.
Will Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight this May? The former’s trainer says he will decide within days whether to agree to a boxing match May 5. Freddie Roachsaid Manny and promoter Bob Arum are in the Philippines, trying to push back deals to fight other boxers so he can tangle with Floyd. Roach is scoffing at Mayweather’s tweet in which he calls Pacquiao a “punk,” saying, “He should look in the mirror. He’s been ducking us for two years.” As for what weight class Manny Pacquiao will fight in, Roach said 147 lbs., or the upper limit of welterweight. We’ll see if that becomes an issue as well. Of course, even if Pacquiao can rearrange his schedule, both sides have to agree on a financial deal, leaving many possible opportunities for an impasse. Roach says, “We’ll do it on even terms.” At least Mayweather’s jail sentence for domestic violence has been pushed back, freeing up his calendar for May 5. He just needs an opponent to conveniently duck last minute. Who will win if Pacquiao and Mayweather throw down?
Dear Bossip , I am a young mother of three. Unfortunately, my children’s father and I are not together. The guy I’m dating I’ve know for about 7 years now. We’ve been just friends for the last 5 years. Shortly after we met in 2006, he moved to Florida. We stayed in touch and he became one of my best friends. We wouldn’t talk every single day, but whenever we did talk we spoke about any and everything. He knows things about me that no one else knows. While he was in Florida he got married. At first he stated his marriage was solely to get his “papers” because he was an immigrant. As time passed he and the young lady dated and fell in love. So, now they are married for love, “supposedly.” Fast forward….they’ve now been married a couple of years and we are still in touch. He finally got around to filing for his stuff and now has his “stuff.” The relationship started to wither between the two of them, and after having enough he decided to move back to New York. Upon him moving back to New York we started talking a little more than before. I was single and while he was still legally married, he was “single” as well. It wasn’t long before we started dating. But, what was once never an issue for me is now becoming my very harsh reality. He says he is still legally married because he hasn’t yet filed for his citizenship (he only has green card status), and as soon as he completes that then he will get a divorce. He lives in his “wife’s” parent’s home in New York and she (the wife) pops in and out of New York without my knowledge of her ever being here. It is now almost two years and absolutely no change has been made. We’re still dating and I use the term “dating” very loosely, for we only go out if I ask him to accompany me to the movies or dinner or something and I foot the bill. It has been many nights he’s unreachable without any reason at all, besides maybe he fell asleep or he forgot his phone in his car. He doesn’t want to get married again and he doesn’t wants to have kids with me. So he’s still legally married, living in his “in-laws” house and no signs of anything changing, anytime soon. I want more. I want to get married because I’ve never been before. I also would like to have more kids because I never had a great experience being pregnant. Am I being naive? Let’s get ready to rummmmmmbbbbbbbblllllle!! Floyd Mayweather Jr. could not be any clearer about the opponent he wants to fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather wants Manny Pacquiao — at least, if you are to believe his tweets on Tuesday afternoon. Several hours after tweeting a photo of a betting slip from a Las Vegas casino for a $400,000 win on Monday night’s Allstate BCS Championship Game, Mayweather sent out two tweets calling out and antagonizing Pacquiao. Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank’s Bob Arum, told The Los Angeles Times that Pacquiao will fight Mayweather, but not on May 5. “June 9 is perfect,” Arum told The Times from The Philippines where he is meeting with Pacquiao to talk about his next opponent. “May 5 is out, that’s impossible.” Mayweather’s upcoming jail sentence however, complicates the issue. Mayweather was due to report to the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas last Friday to begin an 87-day sentence. He pleaded guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges, stemming from a hair-pulling, punching and arm-twisting argument with his ex-girlfriend in front of two of their children. Mayweather says he wanted his jail sentence to begin in June JUST so he could lay hands on Pac Man. For the love of a strong right hook PLEASE, Manny Pacquiao, accept Floyd’s offer! Floyd Mayweather throws lethal punches in the ring. His fighting style has seemingly rendered him untouchable in the squared circle. The judicial system recently showed him just how tangible he is. The Associated Press reported, the Money Team member is set to plead no contest to misdemeanor charges stemming from felony allegations he used his ex-girlfriend as a stand-in for Manny Pacquiao’s face. The conditions of the plea agreement are Money Mayweather plead guilty to one count of battery domestic violence and two counts of harassment. On the books, Pacman got himself another W in Vegas last night against Juan Manuel Marquez. But everyone didn’t necessarily agree with the judges on this one. In fact, most in the sold-out crowd of 16,368, as well as quite a few on press row, thought he had lost. Pacquiao took a majority decision, but seldom in boxing history has a fight this big ended with this much doubt and controversy. The gutsy, effective opponent, Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico, who was given little chance and was sent off as anywhere from a 7-1 to 9-1 underdog, left the ring to raucous cheers, as he waved a huge sombrero. It was a good 15 minutes after the fight ended before the crowd stopped booing and hissing. To many, the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world was outboxed by Marquez, at 38 his senior by six years. Marquez not only stayed with Pacquiao in a heated pace for all 12 rounds, but he seemed to get the best of whatever flurries the two managed in their nonstop jiggling and dancing and feinting. Seldom before in boxing has there been a scene where a highly popular champion gets booed loudly and raucously during his post-match interview. Nobody could hear a word of what he said, and nobody seemed to care. They had seen what they had seen. Nacho Beristain, Marquez’s manager, called it “a robbery of the utmost.” It was a night in which the last thing you wanted to be was a judge. The three who will take tons of heat on this one were Robert Hoyle, Dave Moretti and Glenn Trowbridge. Hoyle had it 114-114, Moretti 115-113 and Trowbridge 116-112, both for Pacquiao. And so ended the controversial trilogy between the two. In 2004, Pacquiao knocked Marquez down three times in the first round and Marquez came firing back to get a draw. That’s the last semi-blemish on Pacquiao’s record. In that one, a much-forgotten element was that one of the judges scored the three-knockdown round 10-7 for Pacquiao, rather than the almost automatic 10-6. That one point would have erased much of the talk about this matchup. In the next fight, in 2008, Pacquiao won a split decision by one point. Oh the irony… According to TMZ reports : Manny Pacquiao’s former accountants claim they’ve discovered the boxer’s BIGGEST WEAKNESS … he sucks at paying his taxes … this according to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ. The number crunchers claim they were called in to save PacMan’s ass last year … because, according to the suit, Manny’s tax issues “seriously affected [his] ability to fight.” The accountants claim they straightened out his money problems — and even let Pacquiao borrow some cash — but Manny never paid the them back and totally ignored the bill. Now the pencil pushers are suing for their jack — $649,016.95. Calls to Manny’s people have not been returned. Pac-Man just need to quit BS’ing and pee in that cup so he can fight Floyd and get dem stacks. He’s definitely about to need it…
