Katy Perry Turns Down $20 Million American Idol Offer After hinting earlier this year that she may have been considering joining the infamous American Idol judges panel , Katy Perry has decided to give up the gwap and pass on the gig. Not many people are in the position to pass on a multimillion dollar, one-year job offer, but it looks like Katy Perry doesn’t have that problem. The “Wide Awake” singer was offered $20 million to be an “American Idol” judge, but turned it down, TMZ reports. According to sources, Perry, whose professional and personal life have been in the spotlight recently, was courted by “Idol” producers for the gig for quite some time. She was reportedly first offered $18 million for a one-year contract, with that number jumping up to $20 million. Still, she’s not biting. “She was being hotly pursued,” a source also told Us Weekly about Perry’s “Idol” offer. “They really wanted her.” However, it’s not all that surprising that Perry is passing on the gig. She talked about joining “Idol” with The Hollywood Reporter in July, saying, “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet.” Mariah signed for $18 milli….bet she won’t be excited to hear that they were about to drop $20 mil on Katy and her lady lumps ! Britney Spears is NOT experiencing cold feet and is still very much planning to wed Jason Trawick, despite a tabloid report to the contrary, sources say. The Britney rumor was published by Us Weekly , which also proclaims Bachelorette Emily Maynard was caught cheating on Jef Holm in this week’s issue. We’re finding it hard to believe either story even a little bit, at least as it stands now. Says a source close to the singer/soon-to-be X Factor judge: “There’s no truth to any second thoughts about their wedding. They’re fine and both look forward to working again when The X Factor gets started.” “They’ve had a great summer.” Speculation about trouble between Spears and Jason Trawick swirled recently when she was photographed outside court without her engagement ring. But, according to the source, “she was not wearing her ring because she took it off during an Elizabeth Arden [photo] shoot and Jason was holding it.” “He simply forgot to give it back until later that day.” Perfectly logical. As far as walking down the aisle goes, the insider says, the two aren’t in a huge rush, and she’s beyond thrilled for when they do. “Even though Britney has been married before, she looks at her wedding to Jason as her real wedding and is so, so excited,” the source says. With names of potential American Idol judges flying around faster than Kim Kardashian’s clothes at a 2001 swingers party , Mariah Carey has decided to make her voice known. The one person who we know we’ll see on the panel in January Tweeted a photo of herself and Lenny Kravitz this week along with the caption: “@AmericanIdol What’s going on? need the info!! What about this combo? : ) if we could ever get him to do it!” According to reports, Carey is peeved over the likely inclusion of Nicki Minaj as a Season 12 judge, having been allegedly told no other females would be hired for the position. The latest rumor, meanwhile, actually places Kanye West alongside the legendary pop singer. It’s a pretty big mess, but it’s also keeping American Idol in the news. Kanye West In Talks to Sign On As An American Idol Judge Another day, another person up for AI judges hotseat …although this choice would certainly trump them all… via TMZ Kanye West is negotiating with producers to become an “American Idol” judge … TMZ has learned. Sources close to the production tell TMZ, “Idol” honchos reached out to Kanye recently about filling one of the open judging spots … and Kanye expressed interest. But that doesn’t mean he’s on board — we’re told Yeezy is still unsure about accepting the gig. The way it was put to us … “He’s on the fence,” because he’s not sure if “A.I.” is in his wheelhouse. And there’s another big hang up — cash. Informed sources tell TMZ … “Idol” would “at least match Mariah’s salary” — a cool $18 mil a year. It looks like Nicki Minaj is either close to signing a deal or has signed one to become a judge, but we’re told producers may well add a 4th judge. As we reported, the frontrunners are Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Enrique Iglesias, but Kanye would clearly trump them all. Calls to Kanye’s camp were not returned. Nicki Minaj Joins American Idol Judges Panel American Idol fans can get ready for lots of colorful commentary and colossal-caked costumes next season because Nicki Minaj will be joining the judges panel. After reports circulated that the young money madame was considering the gig yesterday, it has now been confirmed that she will indeed be filling the AI judges seat next to Mariah Carey. Nicki Minaj — and her multiple personas — will be joining Mariah Carey at the judges’ table on American Idol, two sources confirm to Us Weekly exclusively. “I’m not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it,” one insider reveals. “A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening.” A second source says the “Super Bass” rapper, 29, is “100% confirmed to judge American Idol.” Reps for FOX and Minaj had no comment when contacted by Us. Looks like they’re down to one seat to fill and either Bad Boy head honcho Diddy or record producer extraordinaire Pharell Williams will be the man for the job. Mariah Carey posed for her first American Idol promotional photo a couple weeks ago, and it was beautiful and everything. But a new pair of pictures, uploaded by the singer herself, is eliciting far more of a reaction online. And it all goes something like this: AWWWWW! Over the weekend, Carey Tweeted a photo of herself and son Moroccan in bed, adding the caption: “Me&Roc Starr taking a lil nap.” Not wanting to leave little Monroe out, she then added one of her son’s twin, responding to followers with: “As per your request, me & ms. Monroe on a lazy day: ).” Looks like the perfect summer afternoon for a new mother, doesn’t it?
