Michael Caine Says Batman 3 Shooting in April

Never trust Gary Oldman again . While on the press circuit for The Book of Eli in 2009, Commissioner Gordon told reporters that Christopher Nolan would begin shooting Batman 3 this year with an eye toward a 2011 release. Bzzzt! Not according to Michael Caine. The coolest actor alive — seriously, right guys? — told reporters at the London premiere of Inception that Nolan was planning to shoot his sequel to The Dark Knight in April. Take that with the giant grain of salt it deserves, but hey — an April shoot could mean the finished product will be hit theaters just in time for the superhero apocalypse in the summer of 2012. Andrew Garfield, get ready to shake in your Spidey-tights. After the jump, video of Caine — who also offers a slight spoiler on his role in Inception .

So You Think You Can Dance Result: So Long, Alex Wong

We had a feeling Alex Wong’s prognosis was grim after that ACL injury he suffered in rehearsals, and when he didn’t dance with the rest of the contestants at the top of the results show, our suspicions were confirmed: He’s far too injured to continue competing on So You Think You Can Dance . Jesus, God, why? He was going to win this damn thing following a final match-up with Billy Bell, who would’ve pulled out all the stops and danced as 14 different cats (from tabby to tiger) in 60 seconds. Since that final duel is now impossible, let’s revisit Alex Wong’s best routine of the season and weep to our loved ones about his exquisite lines, touching commitment, and that time the wardrobe department made him wear a FUBU costume.

Boardwalk Empire Gets a Premiere Date

Despite some slight apprehension after watching the most recent trailer — the one with Steve Buscemi as Tony Soprano in period dress — there are few upcoming series that have me more excited than HBO’ s Boardwalk Empire . That happens when the pilot is directed by Martin Scorsese, written and created by Sopranos stalwart Terence Winter, and stars Buscemi, Michael Shannon, Michael Pitt and Michael K. Williams (though where is Michael Weston when you need him?). Well, the news just came into Movieline HQ: The series will premiere on Sunday, September 19 at 9pm, meaning Mad Men will have some testosterone-y company on your DVR.

Leonardo DiCaprio May Reteam With Ridley Scott On Wall Street Movie

Long in the works ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ adaptation would be produced by Martin Scorsese. By Eric Ditzian Leonardo DiCaprio Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese had been trying to bring an adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s tell-all memoir, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” to the big screen since early in 2007. Scorsese was set to direct, and Leo would play Belfort, a New York stockbroker who landed in prison for refusing to cooperate in a 1990s securities fraud case. “Sopranos” scribe Terence Winter came onboard to pen the screenplay. But the project stalled, and DiCaprio and Scorsese went off to make “Shutter Island.” Now the film is getting another shot, Deadline New York reports, and director Ridley Scott is in early discussions to helm “Wolf.” DiCaprio, who worked with Scott on 2008’s “Body of Lies,” would remain in the starring role and Scorsese would shift into the role of a producer. The film would reportedly be similar to DiCaprio’s “Catch Me If You Can” in terms of storytelling, as “Wolf” would focus on Belfort’s relationship with an FBI agent who tries to convert him into an informant. According to Deadline, all involved still love Winter’s script. “It is funny, dramatic and fast paced, and manages to make something of a sympathetic character out of a stockbroker who supervises a cadre of brokers who squeezed clients to buy stocks that paid off — for the brokers, who used the funds to live extravagantly until they were brought down by the feds,” Deadline’s Mike Fleming wrote. The only thing standing in the way of production is scheduling. Scott is plowing ahead on his 3-D “Alien” prequel and DiCaprio’s next role is “Hoover,” the biopic directed by Clint Eastwood. Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In J. Edgar Hoover Biopic

The movie, penned by ‘Milk’ screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, will be directed by Clint Eastwood. By Adam Rosenberg Leonardo DiCaprio Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images Leonardo DiCaprio is no stranger to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In “Catch Me If You Can” he was constantly one step ahead of the FBI as legendary scam artist Frank Abagnale Jr. He also earned the domestic intelligence agency’s attention as industrialist Howard Hughes in “The Aviator.” Now DiCaprio is set to lead the FBI, playing its very first director, J. Edgar Hoover. Deadline Hollywood reports that the “Shutter Island” star will take on the challenging task of bringing the controversial Hoover’s life to the big screen in a biopic to be directed by Clint Eastwood, who is also producing with Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment. The script comes from Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Milk.” Deadline further reports that the film is untitled, though IMDb identifies it simply as “Hoover.” A great deal of controversy surrounds the life of the FBI’s first director. Hoover served in a leadership role over the FBI and its precursor organizations for a total of 48 years. Although he is credited as being responsible for instituting many of the bureau’s grand-scale crime-fighting techniques, he has also been accused of misusing his power for political purposes and employing illegal methods in evidence-gathering. Following Hoover’s reign, the FBI instituted a 10-year maximum term for all directors. As for Hoover’s personal life, it is fraught with rumors that he was a closeted homosexual and cross-dresser. Many of these allegations come from untrustworthy sources and have been refuted, but it remains to be seen how Black chose to handle that aspect of the FBI director’s life in his script. DiCaprio teamed with filmmaker Martin Scorsese earlier in the year — their fourth collaboration — for an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel “Shutter Island.” The actor also has a major summer blockbuster coming next month, sci-fi action/thriller “Inception,” from “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan. Eastwood has shifted in his later years from grizzled cowboy actor to respected filmmaker. He picked up Oscar nominations for “Mystic River” and “Letters From Iwo Jima,” and he took home Best Director and Best Picture awards in 2005 for “Million Dollar Baby,” a film for which he also received a Best Actor nom. Eastwood is set to release his latest directing effort, “Hereafter,” later this year. The Peter Morgan-penned supernatural thriller stars Matt Damon and Bryce Dallas Howard. “Hoover” is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release. Your New CNN Host is… Eliot Spitzer

Disgraced New York governor Eliot Spitzer has been a consistent cable news personality recently, but his TV gig may become permanent. He’s reportedly close to signing a deal to star as one half of a Crossfire -style debate show on CNN, acting as a liberal counterpart to an as-yet-unannounced conservative. How long will it take before Jon Stewart appears and kills this too? The faster the better, as Donald Trump will get fussier each passing year that Eliot Spitzer is not on Celebrity Apprentice .
