CNN’s Roland Martin announced last night that he will meet with GLAAD in the wake of his suspension from the network over his “regrettable,” homophobic tweets . Martin was suspended by CNN indefinitely Wednesday afternoon after the controversy surrounding Tweets he fired off during Super Bowl XLVI Sunday evening. Among other things, he said that people should “smack the ish” out of any male fans of a David Beckham underwear commercial. Controversy erupted quickly. CNN, which was also criticized for its delayed response, took three days to respond to the calls by GLAAD and others to fire Martin or to address his tweets. When it did, it called the statements “offensive” and against what the network stands for, adding that Martin would be off the air “for the time being.” Martin did not directly address his suspension Wednesday. But he tweeted two messages to his followers (above) detailing his plans to meet with GLAAD. For its part, GLAAD lauded CNN’s stand on Martin but also welcomed the political analyst’s apology and offers to meet with and work with the group. Does the suspension go far enough? One child allegedly fell victim to both sickos… The entire staff at an elementary school where two teachers were arrested on suspicion of lewd conduct will be removed while the school district investigates, the Los Angeles school superintendent said Monday night. Superintendent John Deasy told parents and media that 88 teachers and 40 support staff at Miramonte Elementary School are being replaced because a full investigation of allegations is disruptive and staffers will require support to get through the scandal. An entire staff has been trained to come into Miramonte’s classrooms to take over teaching for the time being, and there will be a psychiatric social worker in every classroom to help students and staff cope with any issues. “The last thing I’m worried about is a budget issue,” Deasy said. “The No. 1 thing I’m worried about is the students.” All employees will be paid during the investigation, district spokesman Tom Waldman said. Officials didn’t know how long the investigation will take. School officials canceled classes at the school on Tuesday and Wednesday as a cooling-off period, Waldman said. All current staff members will report to another location, where they will be interviewed, he said. Deasy emphasized that all staff members being brought into the classroom went through a “very rigorous screening process.” Deasy told reporters after the meeting that he was trying “to govern emotion, because that’s important.” United Teachers Los Angeles said in a statement that union leaders and staff have met with instructors at Miramonte. “We support a thorough, vigorous and fair investigation of all allegations,” the statement said. “It’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure that any and all allegations are thoughtfully and carefully investigated.” Maria Jimenez, 51, said the parents of children enrolled at Miramonte are divided over the move. “Some are in favor. Others are against it because they did this without advising us or consulting us,” she said. The move follows the arrest of two Miramonte teachers: Mark Berndt was charged last week with committing lewd acts on 23 children; Martin Springer was arrested Friday on suspicion of fondling two girls in his classroom. Berndt, who worked at the school for 32 years, was charged with committing lewd acts on 23 children, ages 6 to 10, between 2005 and 2010. The acts cited by authorities include blindfolding children and feeding them his own semen in his classroom in what children were allegedly told was a tasting game. Berndt, 61, remains jailed on $23 million bail and could face life in prison if convicted. Springer, 49, was arrested on suspicion of fondling two girls in his classroom. He was being held on $2 million bail. Springer taught at Miramonte for his entire career, which started in 1986, the district said. He taught second grade. The school board is scheduled to discuss firing him in a closed-door meeting Tuesday. Investigators said they know of no connection between the Miramonte cases. Berndt and Springer know each other and took their classes on at least two joint field trips in the past decade, according to the Los Angeles Times. The district set up a toll-free hotline on Monday to receive reports of suspected abuse at Miramonte, said school board President Monica Garcia in a statement. SMH. This is some isht. But if you think that the “Idol” judges are getting any special treatment and are seeing it first, think again. “I have not seen it yet,” Jennifer Lopez told MTV News earlier this week. “I’ll see it with all you guys on Thursday.” When asked whether she’d even heard any of the finished track, she further dished that she hasn’t heard a thing — and that includes a leaked version of the song that hit the Internet last fall. “I hate when the demos leak,” J. Lo added. “It’s so unfair.” Now that Madonna is in the “Idol” family, is there any chance she might come on the show to mentor the contestants before her album, MDNA, drops in March? “I don’t know. But the one song that singer Chris Martin has called his favorite , a hookup with Rihanna called “Princess of China,” has remained elusive. That is until Monday morning (October 17) when the tune leaked online and the world finally got a taste of what the first guest vocal on a Coldplay album sounds like. The tune opens with typically epic, widescreen Coldplay fanfare overlaid with Rihanna wailing “Oh, oh whoa whoa oh,” before settling down into a slinky, pulsing R&B beat. Martin is up first, whisper singing, “Once upon a time somebody ran/ Somebody ran away saying as fast as I can/ I got to go/ I got to go,” before Rihanna comes in with the lines, “Once upon a time we weren’t right/ All we ever seemed to do is fight/ On and on/ And on and on and on.” Ri goes on to dream about being a princess in a castle with her king and a ring, before lamenting, “You stole my star/ La la la la la la.” The glitchy, spare keyboards come back in again before the “Whoa whoa oh” chorus explodes once more and the two singers entwine their voices for a chorus of ” ‘Cause you really hurt me” laments. Their vocals seem perfectly matched, with Martin’s falsetto sitting nicely beside Rihanna’s higher range. And like the thumping previously released “Paradise,” the insistent beat on “Princess” is another nod to the more expansive sound on the upcoming album. “Well, her bit on our record is my favorite bit … when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it,” Martin said last month. “And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music. … Because from where we’re sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays. You don’t have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, and I think it’s fun when you embrace that idea.” The album is due out October 25, and the band will embark on a series of high-profile TV appearances to promote it, including a November 12 slot on “Saturday Night Live” with host Emma Stone. They’ll also drop in at ” The Colbert Report ” on October 20, the “Today” show the next day and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on October 27. ‘We’re just following the things we love,’ singer Chris Martin tells MTV News about working with Williams again. By Gil Kaufman Coldplay’s Chris Martin Photo: John Shearer/Getty Images Coldplay already told MTV News that they decided to roll the dice and go with the inscrutable title of Mylo Xyloto for their upcoming fifth album. But when the time came to make a video for their second release from the disc (due October 25), the beat-infected “Paradise,” they went all in and reteamed with a director best known for lensing clips for some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B (Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Rick Ross). “We just started to do a video on Monday on ‘Paradise,’ ” singer Chris Martin told MTV News at the Austin City Limits festival. “And the bits that we’re not in are being done almost as we speak.” The new clip — whose concept Martin kept under wraps — is being directed by Hype Williams, who first worked with the band three years ago on the title track to their last album, Viva La Vida. That clip had the feel of a Renaissance painting, complete with cracked paint effects, and Martin said they decided to work with Williams again because, well, why not? “We’re just following the things we love,” he said. “The video we did before, for ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall,’ we did with our friend Mat [Whitecross], who is the most indie of indie filmmakers.
