The rolling geekgasm of Comic-Con is gradually winding down , and the triumphant Marvel Studios is punctuating Day 3 without even setting foot in San Diego. Behold: A new collection of Avengers concept-art portraits featuring Iron Man, Captain America and a quartet of other series regulars.
Like a lot of gamers anticipating a big Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 announcement today, I came away with mixed emotions after Capcom finally let loose details on Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 — Twelve new characters, some new stages, and online options, all for $40. It’s not a bad deal or anything, but considering that vanilla Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 just came out a few month ago, it does feel a little too soon…. Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Destructoid Discovery Date : 20/07/2011 22:12 Number of articles : 2
It’s a Marvel movie so you knew it was coming, but still: Despite studio efforts to keep it from press in early screenings, a teaser sequence appearing at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger has leaked online. Multiple accounts and even a bootlegged video of the footage suggest that the leaks didn’t come from the media, but from special public screenings held over the weekend. So why keep it from the press to begin with?
Michael Bay ‘s juggernaut of a sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon didn’t just spank Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts at the box office; it handily seized the title of the biggest domestic July 4 opener of all time from previous champ Spider-Man 2 and should hit $116.4M over the four-day weekend for a $181.1M domestic take. On top of that, Transformers 3 is performing even better overseas than in the U.S. of A. — and it has yet to open in Transformers -loving Japan. Bow to our robot overlords!

Big news for Thor fans: Marvel Studios is committing to a sequel for the hammer-carrying superhero due in theaters summer 2013. While Chris Hemsworth will return as the title character, director Kenneth Branagh will not be overseeing the new production.
Star Chris Hemsworth will return, but director Kenneth Branagh will not. By Kara Warner Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” Photo: Paramount Pictures Given its mighty haul at the box office earlier this summer, Disney and Marvel Studios have officially green-lit a “Thor” sequel to be released July 26, 2013. Deadline originally reported that Chris Hemsworth will return to play the titular God of Thunder, but director Kenneth Branagh will not be back, which Disney confirmed to MTV News. When we spoke with Branagh prior to the film’s release in May, the esteemed thespian seemed to be interested in continuing the story of the haughty Asgardian but was cautious about stating outright that he would be 100 percent in to direct a second “Thor” film. “The prospect of [a sequel] is very tantalizing and fascinating,” Branagh diplomatically told MTV News. “I loved working with this group of actors and had a fantastic experience working with everyone in the Marvel family.” At the time, Branagh mentioned the fact that getting a sequel off the ground would require major box-office success and support from the fans — which, with a $437 million worldwide gross, the fans and money talked. Branagh also added that whether or not he was directing future installments, he was still a fan of the world of the Marvel Thunder God. “When I first got involved with this, I was so thrilled. The first big, really exciting moment when I started really going through the comic books was all the descriptions of powers,” he explained. “I loved it, amazing. People’s body weights, how tall they were, what they could do, all of that kind of stuff. There’s a vast amount of that from the Thor universe that I’d like to see.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Thor.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . On Friday, July 14, 2000 , Bryan Singer’s X-Men earned $20.7 million at the box office, on the way toward an opening weekend of $54 million. Just shy of eleven years later, Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class earned $21 million on Friday night, and should be on course for an opening frame totaling $53 million. Symmetry! Elsewhere, The Hangover Part II dropped 65 percent from Friday to Friday, but the record-breaking sequel still earned $11 million last night. That kind of scratch buys plenty of smoking monkeys . Your Friday box office is here.
Remember that adorable Star Wars -themed VW Super Bowl commercial that went viral, about a tyke in a Darth Vader costume who’s duped into thinking his Force is strong by a dad with a remote-controlled keychain? (Ah, deceiving kids. Always fun.) Well, here comes Little Thor, whose frustrated attempts to similarly use Mjolnir on unsuspecting household appliances and a golden retriever culminate in a decidedly different ending.
Take a closer look at the super-soldier as we break down the upcoming action movie’s first full trailer. By Eric Ditzian Chris Evans and cast in the “Captain America: The First Avenger” trailer Photo: Marvel Before becoming the engineered superhero called Captain America, Steve Rogers attempts to join the Army five times in five cities, only to be rejected for being a pipsqueak with a ton of heart but not nearly big enough biceps. In a similar series of false starts, we’ve been treated to a slew of teasers for “Captain America: The First Avenger,” from a 30-second Super Bowl spot to a bunch of seconds-long video snippets parceled out over the last few days. Now, finally, we’re getting a shot of cinematic super-serum with the Marvel adaptation’s first full trailer . Here are our picks for the five coolest moments: The Shield … Kinda Here we see Rogers (Chris Evans) in pre-conversion twerp mode. Chased into an alley, he attempts to defend himself with a trashcan lid — a none-too-subtle nod to the red-white-and-blue shield he’ll soon wield as the Captain. Sure, he’s a scrawny fellow, but he’s brave. And as Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) will tell Steve before transforming him into a superhero, “A weak man knows the value of strength, knows the value of power.” In terms of historical context, this shot also gives us a glimpse of around when the story begins. A poster in the alley shows the date: May 29, 1943. Meet Your Super-Serum So it’s that goopy blue stuff that transforms Rogers into a super-solider. We see Erskine in the laboratory, as well as Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), who just so happens to be the father of a certain iron-suited hero played in other Marvel movies by Robert Downey Jr. The serum doesn’t look that pleasant going in, but what a difference it makes: Rogers goes from zero to world-saving hero. Captain Action Listen, it’s hard out there for a super-solider. Even when an Army colonel (Tommy Lee Jones) is driving at top speed in a convertible and the Captain looks like he’s about to jump out and whup some Nazi butt, he pauses for a little smooch from Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). Pimp! Army of the Damned Check them out in all their blue-glowing glory: the HYDRA army controlled by Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler’s head honcho of weaponry and general evilness. It’s these soldiers who will face off against the Captain and his crew with the fate of the world in the balance. The Boys We’d sleep easier knowing this collection of dudes — Captain America and the much-hyped Howling Commandos — is protecting the nation. In addition to the Captain, you’ve got sidekick Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Union Jack (JJ Field) and Dum Dum Dungan (Neal McDonough). That’s a hero shot if we’ve ever seen one. “It’s an amazing costume,” Evans told us last year of his look. “Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and it’s tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top — and given the fact that the movie takes place in the ’40s and ’50s — they’ve done a really good job of making it look really cool.” What were your favorite moments?
