Kate Middleton: Poised As Heck on Remembrance Sunday

Today in London, the royal family gathered to honor fallen soldiers during “Remembrance Sunday,” which takes place on the second Sunday of every November. Queen Elizabeth II led the tribute at the Cenotaph, an “empty tomb” to honor those whose remains did not make it home from battle.   This year, Her Majesty was joined by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the British liberation of Holland. While Her Majesty, Prince Harry and Prince William laid poppy wreaths at the memorial, the Duchess of Cambridge watched from the balcony of government building Whitehall, alongside Maxima and the Countess of Wessex , who is married to the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward. Catherine wore a custom-made Alexander McQueen coat for the ceremony, according to What Kate Wore , along with pearl-drop earrings from jeweler Annoushka and a hat with delicate black netting. Remembrance Sunday is a pretty remarkable event; two minutes of silence are observed, the “Last Post” is played, and veterans march by the Cenotaph to remember those lost in battle. Last night, William and Catherine (wearing a lace dress by Dolce & Gabbana) joined the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall for the annual Festival of Remembrance, also put on to honor veterans, which featured performances by Rod Stewart and Andrea Bocelli .  Read more about Remembrance Sunday here .

Gilmore Girls to Be Revived as Limited Netflix Series (!!!!!!!)

It really is happening, people. We really will learn what those final four words were. Netflix has confirmed that it has finalized a deal with Warner Bros., creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino to bring back Gilmore Girls for a special limited series event. No original cast members have signed on the dotted line just yet, but sources tell TV Line that key players Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson are almost assuredly on board. The revival will reportedly consist of four 90-minute episodes/mini-movies/whatever-you-want-to-call-them-but-the-point-is-that-Gilmore-Girls-is-on-the-way-back. Over the summer, Sherman-Palladino certainly sounded open to an arrangement such as this at the ATX TV Festival. “It would have to be the right everything – the right format, the right timing,” she said. “If it ever happened, I promise we’ll do it correctly. We believe you, Amy. And we can’t believe we’re going to get the chance to find out for real! Gilmore Girls premiered on The WB network in 2000, before transferring to The CW in 2006 for its final season. Oscar Pistorius Released From Prison; Olympian Served Less Than One Year For Murder of Reeva Steenkamp

In October of 2014, Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of shooting and killing his 29-year-old model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Today, less than one year later, Pistorius is a free man, having been secretively released from prison late last night in order to avoid media attention. Pistorius will now serve a four-year house arrest sentence at his uncle’s palatial mansion in Johannesburg. Pistorius was originally slated to be released in August, but angry letters from hundreds of outraged South Africans – including Steenkamp’s grieving parents – persuaded the nation’s justice minister to hold him for another two months. “We have forgiven Mr. Pistorius, read the letter from Steenkamp’s parents. “However, a person found guilty of a crime must be accountable for their actions. Incarceration of 10 months for taking a life is simply not enough.” A lawyer for the family says the Steenkamps are still angry, and still believe that justice was not served. Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide , which is comparable to manslaughter in the US justice system. The sprinter – nicknamed “Blade Runner” by fans – earned international fame after becoming the first double-amputee to participate in the Olympics. Many believe Pistorius received preferential treatment from the South African justice system.
