Rider Strong: Engaged to Alexandra Barreto!

Rider Strong of Boy Meets World fame has become a man. So to speak. He’s engaged to longtime girlfriend Alexandra Barreto, E! News reports! Strong proposed , his rep said, “with a handmade ring he created himself.” The actor (and jeweler, somehow) first met Barreto on the 2006 series Pepper Dennis , then also worked together on a campaign video for President Obama. The rest was history. Strong recently said he will not be a main player on Girl Meets World , the Boy Meets World spinoff starring Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel. “At this point, I have no official involvement,” he said. “There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years.” That’s too bad, but there’s always hope for a cameo from Shawn Hunter down the line. In related news … Danielle Fishel is engaged too! The gang’s growing up!

Ben Savage: Girl Meets World Will Be Special, Funny

As you’ve likely heard (and gotten really excited about if you watched TV from 1993-2000), Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will star in a Boy Meets World spinoff . The new series, Girl Meets World , will air on the Disney Channel and be told from the perspective of Cory and Topanga Mattews’ teenage daughter, Riley. Ben (Cory) recently spoke about the new show for the first time. “We’re going to wait and see what happens,” he told Rolling Stone about more returning characters. “Obviously, I don’t want to give away too many details.” “But there’s definitely been discussions about some of everyone’s favorite characters popping up [on Girl Meets World ] and making appearances.” Rider Strong , who played Cory’s best friend Shawn, is reportedly not involved with the new show, at least on a series regular basis. Casting is still underway. Savage says it was a long process getting even to this point. “It was just a matter of making sure all of us were on the same page about what we were going to do in terms of hopefully making the show last another seven years,” he said. “There were different options… but it just seems a little poetic that we’re coming back 13 years later and it’s following our daughter’s character. I like that concept.” “It’s kind of passing it off to the next generation.” Ben’s statement on Girl Meets World echoes that of Danielle Fishel (Topanga), who said she would not have signed on if the spinoff weren’t strong on its own merit. “We want to do justice to the characters, and we want to make sure we respect people’s memories of the show,” the 32-year-old actor assures fans. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure that this is going to be something special and funny, and hopefully it’ll make new memories for a new generation.” Filming is set to begin in February. Pumped up for Girl Meets World?   Yes! I used to love that show! Yes, I bet Topanga is even hotter now! The hell is Boy Meets World?! View Poll »

Danielle Fishel Confirms Girl Meets World Spinoff, Thanks Fans in Letter

The Internet has exploded with joy at the news that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel signed on to reprise their Boy Meets World roles in a new Disney Channel spinoff. Fishel says it’s all because of those fans that Girl Meets World is being made. The actress, 31, and Savage, 32, will play the married Cory and Topanga Matthews, and the spinoff will be told from the perspective of their teenage daughter, Riley. Rider Strong won’t be back as Shawn, sadly, but there’s always hope for a future cameo. Addressing the show for the first time, Danielle Fishel wrote on Tumblr: First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome. That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring. You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that Girl Meets World WILL BE MADE. I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for GMW, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear. I am going to do my best to not speak for others with this open post. But because I have known Michael Jacobs, Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, and Bill Daniels for 19 years, I know we share many of the same feelings regarding the 7 wonderful years we spent making BMW. Those years were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Another thing I wouldn’t trade for anything is the integrity and the heart with which BMW was made. I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make GMW with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from BMW . Girl Meets World Casts Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel!

Girl Meets World has cast Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, officially making the Boy Meets World spinoff super exciting for fans of the original ABC comedy. As previously announced, the forthcoming Disney Channel series will focus on the teen daughter of married Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence Matthews. The story will be told from Riley’s point of view, with her father serving as the school’s history teacher. Savage is only 32 and Fishel 31 (both could pass for even younger no less), so the duo having a teenager is a stretch … but hey, it’s television, right? The casting of Cory and Topanga leaves us hoping that Rider Strong’s Shawn and/or William Daniels’ Mr. Feeny will also reprise their roles on the Boy Meets World spinoff. No date has been announced for the pilot yet, but Boy Meets World creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs will helm the show and further casting. [Photos: WENN.com, Fame/Flynet]

When The Hunger Games Meets The Vampire Diaries…

We finally have an answer to the eternal question: What happens when you dub audio from The Hunger Games trailer over action from The Vampire Diaries ? For whatever inspired reason, an Internet user has come up with the following video, in which dialogue from Katniss, Peeta, Gale and company is heard… while scenes featuring Damon, Elena, Stefan and the Mystic Falls gang are featured. They correspond eerily well for the most part, while getting us excited for both March 23 (the premiere of The Hunger Games ) and March 15 (the return of The Vampire Diaries ). Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″ Debut Tops Billboard Chart

Bad Meets Evil’s Hell: The Sequel barely outsells Jackie Evancho. By Gil Kaufman Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem Photo: MTV News Eminem just scored another #1 album. Almost a year to the day his comeback smash Recovery crashed the charts with more than 741,000 in sales, the Detroit rapper’s collaborative EP with pal Royce Da 5’9″ as Bad Meets Evil , Hell: The Sequel, hit the top of the charts as well, though it didn’t post anywhere near the gaudy numbers of Slim Shady’s solo effort. The album moved a modest 171,000 copies in its first week on the charts, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, just besting the latest album from 11-year-old “American’s Got Talent” soprano opera singer Jackie Evancho , Dream With Me , which sold 161,000. The second release from one-man emo band Owl City , All Things Bright and Beautiful , debuted at #6 on sales of 48,000, while classic crooner Barry Manilow made it to #7 with 15 Minutes (36,000), his first album of all-original material in more than a decade. R&B singer Ledisi was just behind at #8 with Pieces of Me (36,000). The rest of the top 10: Adele , 21 (#3, 115,000); Lady Gaga , Born This Way (#4, 68,000); Jason Aldean , My Kinda Party (#5, 51,000); Brad Paisley , This is Country Music (#9, 35,000) and the cast recording of the Tony-winning Broadway show (#10, 34,000). Among the other chart debuts were makeup-wearing rockers Black Veil Brides with Set the World On Fire (#17, 23,000) and the debut EP from YouTube sensation and Christina Grimmie , Find Me (#35, 13,000). After finally opening on Broadway, following months of maligned previews and technical glitches, the soundtrack to the musical, featuring music performed by the cast as well as score writers Bono and the Edge of U2, hit the charts at #86 on soft sales just shy of 7,000. On the iTunes charts, Em and Royce ruled the album tally, followed by Adele, Owl City, Journey’s Greatest Hits album — which led a parade of classics as part of a low-dough Father’s Day digital special also including the Nothing But the Best Frank Sinatra comp (#5) and Bob Marley’s Legend (#6) — as well as Grimmie (#7), Gaga, Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More and Evancho. On the iTunes singles chart, Katy Perry hit the top again with “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” besting LMFAO ‘s “Party Rock Anthem,” Pitbull ‘s “Give Me Everything,” Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory.” Rounding out the singles tally were Nicki Minaj with “Super Bass” (#6), Bad Meets Evil’s “Lighters,” Lil Wayne ‘s “How to Love,” Bruno Mars ‘ “The Lazy Song” and Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem.” There could be a few new names in the top 10 next week, thanks to debuts from R&B singer Jill Scott, mellow folkie Bon Iver, LMFAO, Pitbull and comedian “Weird Al” Yankovic. . Eminem Producer Denaun Porter Gets ‘Serious’ On Bad Meets Evil EP

D12 member shares executive-producer credit with Em on Hell: The Sequel. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Denaun Porter Photo: MTV News As a producer, Denaun Porter is quite accomplished. In addition to producing 50 Cent’s hit “P.I.M.P.” and G-Unit’s 2003 single “Stunt 101,” the beatmaker, who doubles as a rapper in the group D12, has crafted tracks for Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Game and Busta Rhymes. With all that he’s done, though, for the first time, Mr. Porter has earned an executive-producer credit on Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ ‘s Bad Meets Evil EP . While the distinction was a definite goal for Mr. Porter, he remains humble about it, choosing to let his work speak for itself. In fact, he’s worked on many albums and sometimes didn’t receive the credit that he’s earned, and he’s OK with that. “I’m not the kind of producer where I’m gonna say, ‘Yo, I did this, I did this, I did this.’ I want it to be my work,” he told Sway on the set of Bad Meets Evil’s “Fast Lane” video. “I come from the [Dr.] Dre school; we don’t talk about it. I do it, though. You put me in that room, I’ll show you.” Denaun produced four of the nine tracks on Hell: The Sequel as well as “Living Proof,” which appears as a bonus track on the deluxe version of the EP. “Em even came in the studio one day, like, ‘Yo, homey, you’re showing your ass.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not playing now’ — it’s that serious to me,” Porter said. With all the work he put in, the Shady camp named Mr. Porter co-executive producer of Hell: The Sequel, along with Eminem. Despite their personal relationship and ties to D-12, however, Mr. Porter’s involvement on Em’s albums is never a given. He did produce Eminem’s 1996 underground album Infinite in its entirety, but when Denaun has landed tracks on Slim Shady’s major-label albums, it’s usually only a track or two. “I was making it hard for him. I was just bringing the heat to him,” Porter said of how he ended up landing so many beats on the Bad Meets Evil project. “I had my mind made up that I didn’t want to do one joint here, because for years, I was just doing ’em when I felt like it. Now it’s like I got something to prove.” What do you think of the Porter-produced Bad Meets Evil tracks? Let us know in the comments! Eminem, Royce Da 5’9" Coming To ‘RapFix Live’

Duo will discuss their upcoming Bad Meets Evil EP, Hell: The Sequel, Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem Photo: MTV News Hide the women and children because Bad and Evil are coming to “RapFix Live” ! Ever since Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ announced they would be joining forces to drop a Bad Meets Evil EP on Shady Records this June, hip-hop fans have been buzzing with excitement. This Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, Em and Royce will join MTV News’ Sway Calloway to give us the lowdown on their reunited duo and upcoming EP, Hell: The Sequel . For starters, the rappers reveal which of them is “Bad” and which is “Evil.” “I’m not Royce today: I’m ‘Bad’; [Eminem] is ‘Evil,’ ” Nickel Nine explained on the set of the duo’s upcoming “Fast Lane” video. Eminem added, “For the most part, I like my name, and I think I wanna be ‘Evil.’ We’ve had a debate about this before.” The Detroit MCs formed the duo in 1999 when they appeared together on the track “Bad Meets Evil” on Eminem’s major-label debut, The Slim Shady LP, and released an independent single (with “Nuthin’ to Do,” “Scary Movies” and “I’m King”) on Game Recordings. A feud halted any collaboration for years, but Marshall and Royce have since made peace, and in January it was announced that Royce’s group, Slaughterhouse, was signed to Em’s Shady Records . Hell: The Sequel — featuring production from Mobb Deep’s Havoc, DJ Khalil, Bangladesh and D12 member Denaun Porter — will be released June 14.
