Earlier this week, the world learned that Kendra Caldwell is pregnant with Joseph Duggar’s baby. As is always the case with Duggar baby news, the announcement was greeted with enthusiasm from the family’s devoted fan base–but it also reminded many of a mystery that continues to grow with the passage of time: It’s been over a year since Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo got married , and yet the couple remains childless. As the pregnancies of Kendra Caldwell and Joy-Anna Duggar have recently reminded us, this is highly unusual in Jinger’s family. (Kendra and Joy both announced that they’re expecting within a few months of tying the knot. Some believe that Joy didn’t even wait until she was married .) Thus far, all of Jinger’s sisters have gotten pregnant within a year of getting married, and some have even given birth prior to their one-year anniversary. So it’s not hard to see why fans are growing increasingly curious about Jinger and Jeremy’s apparent reluctance to start a family. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that Jinger is on birth control . Like wearing pants as a woman or marrying a man whose religious beliefs don’t perfectly coincide with your father’s, using birth control is no big deal throughout most of the civilized world, but these are the Duggars we’re talking about. They’re civilized in the sense that they sleep indoors and use silverware, but they’d be the first to tell you that their belief system bears little in common with the average American’s code of conduct. Birth control is strictly forbidden in the Duggars’ world, and Jim Bob and Michelle have even recorded videos in which they preach about its evils. Jinger may rebel against her parents’ teachings in small, mostly inconsequential ways (see the aforementioned wearing of pants), but finding out that she’s using birth control would likely push Jim Bob and Michelle over the edge. Fortunately, for the most part, Duggar fans have proven to be uncharacteristically level-headed with regard to this issue. Recently, the Duggars posted a photo of Jeremy and Jinger on their Facebook page, and the comments section quickly devolved into the usual flurry of uterine speculation. But for every “fan” throwing shade, there were three getting Jinger’s back: “Jinger raised kids all her life, she might not want kids or she just wants to wait,” one commenter wrote. “Maybe they’re not waiting, maybe she’s having trouble conceiving. Give the poor girl a break, when she’s pregnant they’ll announce it,” remarked another. “I think these two are being smart and will choose to have children on their own timetable,” a third wrote. Is it possible that Duggar fans are beginning to let go of their judgmental tendencies a bit? It feels like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have been stuck in this petty feud forever, doesn’t it? Like, yes, it has been literal years since the first became mortal enemies, but still, it’s really been dragging out. It’s been over three years now since Taylor released “Bad Blood” — and since she revealed that it was about a fellow pop star . “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Taylor said in a 2014 interview. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'” She said that the previous year (2013 if you’re keeping up, which means that this feud is nearly five years old) “she did something so horrible” that made her realize “Oh, we’re just straight up enemies.” “It had to do with business,” she explained. “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.” In all the time since this whole mess began, we learned what really happened: there were some backup dancers who toured with Katy, and then they toured with Taylor. Before they went on tour with Taylor, Katy told them that she’d be touring again soon too, so if they wanted to work with her again, to be sure to work that out in their contracts with Taylor. So they did, and when it was time for Katy’s tour, they left Taylor’s. That’s it. That’s what this whole dumb thing is about. Things sort of simmered for a while — they both acted shady here and there , or they did things that were perceived to be shady. But earlier this year, Katy finally retaliated by releasing a diss track of her own in “Swish Swish.” And after she released the song, she spent a whole, whole lot of time talking about Taylor. She accused her of trying to ” assassinate my character ,” and she hinted that “karma” would be coming for her. “There is the law of cause and effect,” Katy said in one interview. “You do something and there’s gonna be a reaction. And trust me, daddy, there’s gonna be a reaction.” Then, in a podcast she did to promote her new album back in June, she said that she was ” ready to let it go .” “I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her,” she said. “I think it’s actually, like, I think it’s time.” “There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world. You know what I’m saying? I love her, and I want the best for her.” “Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does,” she continued, “and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really, truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.” And according to some new reports, it looks like they’ve finally been able to do that! Taylor has been spotted in Miami this week, filming a music video for her song, “End Game.” And according to several people who spotted her, one of her backup dancers looks a whole, whole lot like Katy. A source spoke with E! News and confirmed that Katy did film with Taylor, and that they made up while they were both in Miami. We guess we’ll see if it’s true when the video comes out, but we do know that Katy was down in Florida earlier this week on her tour, so it’s definitely possible she could have set aside time to hang with Taylor. Let’s face it: No one is entirely sure why so many people are excited for Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle. She’s really just an actress best known for her role on the light-hearted USA Network drama Suits, while he’s a handsome party animal who happened to have been born into a famous family. Together, the couple has no real power or tangible influence of any kind. But while we do occasionally wonder why millions of people have the Harry/Markle wedding date (May 19, 2018!) circled on their calendar, we know for certain why Great Britain itself is excited for the nuptials: Cold, hard cash. And A LOT of it. According to Aimee Dunne, a London-based wedding planner who spoke to CNN, the Harry and Meghan wedding will cost about $670,000 (or 500,00 pounds). That’s a chunk of change, right? Yes. But it pales, significantly, in comparison to how much the next Royal Wedding will rake in . According to Express, the marriage of Prince Harry and the Suits actress is estimated to bring about $670 million into the country. We’ll give you a few moments to let that sink is… $670 million!!!!!! From where does this figure come from? We turn to David Haigh from Brand Finance for that answer. He predicts that tourism to London alone around the time of the wedding could generate about $540 million dollars in “hotel bookings,” as well as restaurant and pub visits. Haigh also looks at the way Kate Middleton has boosted various brands (she wears a certain designer’s dress… and it gets sold out in mere minutes the next day) and thinks Markle could have a similiar effect. “Meghan Markle is an accomplished actress in her own right, with a global popularity and a strong personal brand,” the financial advisor explains, adding: “It can be expected that she will join the Duchess of Cambridge as a great ambassador of the monarchy and British brands in general, especially in her native United States and in Canada where she recently lived.” Along with tourism, you can expect sales wedding memorabilia to rise exponentially over the next year or so. Just consider the following items, which are already on sale and whose profits will go to Queen Elizabeth’s estate. Now imagine the uptick in mugs, napkins and everything else you can imagine after the stars are actually married! Just by holding their wedding on a Saturday, meanwhile, Harry and Meghan have saved the country the expense of creating a bank holiday. With so many citizens so interested in the ceremony, there likely would have been a call to close businesses for the occasion. This could have cost the economy millions, if not billions. Black folks got about a week to be happy about biracial Meghan Markle’s swirl-gagement to Prince Harry before the bubble bursting memes and editorials have begun picking the social impact of the pairing to pieces. Eurweb published a scathing editorial by comedian Cory Haywood that begins: *Sisters, don’t get too excited about Meghan Markle‘s engagement to Prince Harry (or whatever the hell that boy’s name is). This “historic” piece of news doesn’t even remotely count as a victory for black people or black women. Period. Sisters, I can hear ya’ll fools right now – “I’m not wasting my time with average ni**as. I deserve to be with a prince so that I can be treated like a princess.” Ha! I laugh at you ignorant hoes. “Coming to America” was a movie. That sh** ain’t happening to you. Ignorant hoes though? BRUH. Haywood goes on to argue that Markle’s indistinguishable features made her prime for the Prince’s pickings, traits that most black women can’t claim. He also says that Markle’s marriage is only possible because Prince Harry is unlikely to inherit the throne anyway. Haywood also decries The Root’s decision to declare the engagement “black girl magic” So let me get this straight, it’s just a good ol’ ni*ga time when two black people get married, but when a black girl wrangles a White Prince, it’s “magic”. Ni**a what! We see where he’s going and it’s part of why we try to celebrate Black love everywhere we see it, but Haywood stumbles into murky territory when he attacks the black community’s willingness to embrace the success of mixed race people as “black success”: More importantly, why is it that every time a half-breed stumbles upon good fortune or success, the entire black community rejoices and lives vicariously through that person (as if his or her family tree is entirely Negro)? Are we that desperate for a win? Half-breed is a HORRIBLE term. Haywood is a comedian but it seems a** backwards to make an argument like his using the oppressor’s terminology. That part aside, do you think that Haywood is right to be critical of the royal engagement being upheld as “black girl magic” or even something meant to inspire “hope” for black women? Meghan Markle first rose to fame as one of the stars of the USA Network, by which mean the television channel, and not the intricate web of double agents seeking to undermine American democracy through collusion with foreign powers. Sorry for all that clarification, but you can never be too careful these days. Anyway, it’s been a big week for Meghan. She’s traded in her role on Suits for a future as a member of the royal family , which is a bit like trading in your 2002 Civic that still has a couple good years in it, but also has a Hall & Oates cassette jammed in the tape deck for, like, a horse-drawn carriage, or however royals get around. She got a good deal, is what we’re saying. But Meghan is no stranger to moving up in the world. We jest about her role on Suits , but landing a starring role on a long-running series is seriously impressive, especially for someone who was holding a briefcase on Deal or No Deal and doling out blowies on 90210 a few years earlier. Those who know MegMar best say she owes her success to her intellect, her charm, her ambition … and the fact that she’s naturally super hot. That’s a photo of Meghan that was snapped during a recent visit to her alma mater, Northwestern University. Psych! That’s a pic that was taken when Markle was a student at the school, back in 2000! Meghan hasn’t aged at all since the year 2000! To put that in perspective some of you were fetuses in 2000! You have aged considerably since then! It was so long ago that we say “the year” in front of it, like “A.D.” or some sh-t! The point is, becoming a princess is just the latest in a long line of victories for Meghan that began back when her father’s sperm fertilized her mother’s egg back in 1980, thus setting into motion a chain of events that will eventually lead to an American citizen receiving a British royal title. Sure, she’ll have to put up with some obnoxious royal rules , but that’s a small price to pay to start the process of reverse-colonization. Now that Meghan Markle is officially a global celebrity, the Internet is hard at work digging up old photos of the future Mrs. Prince Harry. There was this throwback picture of Markle as a student at Northwestern, one that is clear evidence she doesn’t ever age. And now there’s another intriguing image making the rounds, one that is clear evidence Harry is marrying a hottie! TMZ has uncovered a trio of photos of Markle that were snapped back in 2013 for a spread in a Canadian magazine called Sharp. Which is apt. Because the following snapshot puts Markle’s beauty in sharp focus, wouldn’t you say? Markle, of course, has worked as an actress for years. So it’s only natural that she has a history of revealing photo shoots and/or certain scenes that Queen Elizabeth likely wishes did not exist. She did pretend to give a fellow 90210 character a blow job several years ago, remember: Meghan Markle Flashback Footage: Who Did She Blow? We’re passing no judgment on the magazine spread or the scene above, of course. That would be a silly and misguided thing to do. But it’s impossible not to wonder if there will be any sort of uproar in Great Britain over these pictures, considering the prim and proper traditions of the Royal Family. Markle is set to officially join in May. She and Harry have confirmed they’ll be wed this spring at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The exciting news was announced two days after Kensington Palace also announced the actual news of Harry and Markle getting engaged , doing so via the following statement: “His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. “Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.” On Friday, meanwhile, the newly engaged stars stepped out together holding hands on Friday in Nottingham, England at the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair. Not counting the photo shoot below, it was their first public appearance as two people who have agreed to marry. The 36-year old actress was greeted with a very warm welcome by all who saw her at the event. The palace noted in a statement that Harry has been extremely vocal about his passion in raising awareness for HIV/AIDS and was “looking forward to introducing Ms. Markle to a community that has become very special to him.” Markle, it should be said, has also been deeply involved in humanitarian work for years, which is a major reason why the two hit it off last July after they were set up on a blind date.
