Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster recently sat down with S2S Magazine and spoke about her life after Usher, her run-ins with his mom and how black women hated her the most. Here’s an excerpt from the interview: On falling in love with Usher: “At that time I would say he was my best friend. I’m a regular woman that happened to fall in love with an artist. Actually, I didn’t fall in love with an artist; I fell in love with a man. We were both going through kind of a tumultuous time in our relationships. I was getting ready to go through a divorce, separating from my first husband. He had broken up with his girlfriend. He had been in a long-term relationship with someone that he really cared about. And I guess we leaned on each other”. On the bashing her marriage to Usher received on blogs: “It’s a sad scenario because the lack of support that we received was from the Black women. Only the ignorant people are the loud one and are the ones bashing on blogs and talking and writing up terrible stories and false reports and all of that. That’s ignorance. People with sense, they’re busy”. On Usher’s romance with Grace Miguel: “I’ve heard it, of course. I’ve never seen it so I don’t know. It doesn’t make me feel any kind of way because he’s not my husband anymore.” Usher & Tameka Foster Sex Tape For Sale? Tameka Foster Calls Usher’s New Girlfriend A B***h! Nate Dogg‘s death seemingly came out of nowhere, though the singer had previously suffered strokes in 2007 and 2009. Nate’s friend and manager, Rod McGrew, says that the family believes the strokes led to his early death. McGrew tells TMZ that Nate Dogg had made significant progress in recovering from the two strokes. According to McGrew … Nate was “95% recovered from the first stroke in 2007″ … when the second stroke occurred in 2008 … leaving Nate partially paralyzed and causing partial memory loss. But McGrew says Nate had “cognitively fully recovered” — meaning he got his memory back and was fully alert and aware all the way up to his final days. McGrew just released a statement on behalf of himself and Nate’s family … saying, “We appreciate the enormous outpouring of response from all over the world. We greatly appreciate that and thank everyone for their prayers and support.” RELATED: Nate Dogg Dead At 41 RELATED: Celebs Reflect On The Death Of Nate Dogg RELATED: Top 10 Nate Dogg Guest Appearances
Trance group gears up for Miami music week with their newest single. By Adam Stewart Tony McGuinness Photo: MTV News For Above & Beyond , and their loyal following, these are exciting times. With Miami’s annual Anjunabeats party on the horizon (at the Ice Palace on March 24), and their highly anticipated second studio album, Group Therapy, out in June, 2011 is shaping up to be a massive year for the U.K. trance trio. The album’s first single and video , “Sun & Moon,” recently hit the Web, and MTV News had the chance to catch up with one third of the collaborative, Tony McGuinness who gave us a little insight into the story behind song. “It was written about the same girl [Katy] that a lot of our early songs were written about,” McGuinness told MTV News. “It was a contender for the OceanLab album [ Sirens of the Sea ], but for many reasons, it didn’t make it on. It’s gone through a number of incarnations, and I think the reason why we were really happy for it to be the first single is that the sound of it is very now. … It is kind of classic Above & Beyond, a sad song — and that’s sort of what we do. I think when we do it well, we do it as well as anybody. That’s kind of our trademark, really.” The video, directed by Ferry Gouw, stars Alex Childs and Steve Cato as a feuding couple who have entered that “one last try” phase of a failing relationship that ends in a breakup. Eventually, she leaves him, and he turns to music and dancing for comfort. “I think everybody that you spend time with in your life, you learn from and grow through that period, and certainly that was true with Katy,” he explained. “So, she’s in my past, she’s a ‘failed relationship,’ but to me it was anything but a failure. And that’s what this song’s really trying to say, you know, whatever experiences you have, romantic or otherwise with people, there’s always a part of that relationship that lives on in your memory, hence the line, ‘You’ll never get over me, I’ll never get over you.’ I think those things are important. We’re still friends. I’m not sure how she feels about me writing about the darker parts of our relationship all the time, but, you know, I think that’s part of the inspiration that you get from other people.” McGuinness defines “Sun & Moon” as a sequel to the smash single “Alone Tonight”, from 2006’s Tri-State. “I really wanted to make sure that we represented the album, which I think ‘Sun and Moon’ does,” McGuinness said. “[It’s] smack back in the middle of what the album’s about. So I think sonically and musically and lyrically, it’s a very good advert for the album.” Will you be checking out Above & Beyond at their annual Anjunabeats party at the Ice Palace in Miami on March 24? G-Funk pioneer’s manager says 41-year-old singer had ’95 percent’ from strokes in 2007, 2008. By Gil Kaufman Nate Dogg Photo: Courtesy of Elektra Though a coroner has not yet determined the official cause of death in the case of G-Funk pioneer Nate Dogg (born Nathaniel Hale), the singer’s friend and manager said that the “Regulate” star likely succumbed to complications stemming from a pair of strokes he suffered in 2007 and 2008. Manager Rod McGrew told TMZ that the singer’s family believes the complications were the cause of the unexpected passing on Tuesday at the age of 41. Nate was reportedly making “significant” progress in his recovery from the second stroke and was “95 percent recovered from the first stroke” he suffered in 2007, according to McGrew. No information was ever released about what had caused those previous health crises — and MTV News could not reach McGrew for comment at press time — but the manager said that second stroke had left the go-to West Coast hook-maker partially paralyzed and caused some memory loss. McGrew told TMZ that before his death, Dogg had “cognitively fully recovered” from the 2008 stroke, regaining his memory and feeling fully alert and aware until his final days. “We appreciate the enormous outpouring of response from all over the world,” McGrew said in a statement released on behalf of himself and Nate’s family. “We greatly appreciate that and thank everyone for their prayers and support. … We know that Nate will be hanging out with his good friends 2Pac and Biggie.” Related Photos Nate Dogg: A Life In Photos Related Artists Nate Dogg Snoop Dogg

‘We thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family,’ band says of returning former band mate. By Shawn Adler Slipknot Hard rock super group Slipknot have asked former member Donnie Steele to replace Paul Gray on bass for their upcoming 2011 shows, according to a statement on the band’s website . The 38-year-old Gray, who had been with the band since their inception, died last year (May 24, 2010) from an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl. “Donnie was in the band at the very beginning, and rather than get an outsider, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family,” the band wrote. “Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning. The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honoring Paul’s legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer.” Known for their ostentatious performances and aggressive musical edge, the mask-wearing members of the Grammy winning band displayed a different side in an emotional press conference the day after Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel room, remembering their friend and band mate as “the essence of the band Slipknot,” percussionist Shawn Crahan recalled. “Paul was there from the very, very beginning, and none of us would be on the path that we’re on now in life or have the sorts of life that we have without him,” he added. ” Paul loved the fans . He was kind of the person in the band that really wanted everybody in the band to always get along and just concentrate on the band. He was a really great friend and a really great person. He’s going to be sadly missed, and the world is going to be a different place without him.” Among other performances, the band will be performing at the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 21.
