Former Alaska Governor and V.P. nominee Sarah Palin will not speak at, or even attend, the Republican National Convention, she confirmed in a statement. “This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I’m excited to hear them,” Palin, the star of the 2008 convention, said. “Everything I said at the 2008 convention about then-candidate (Barack) Obama still stands today,” the 48-year-old professional celebrity added. Palin’s apparent decision to steer clear of the convention marks a stark contrast from four years ago, when she took the presidential race by storm. Accepting the GOP Vice Presidential nomination, she electrified the party faithful and received widespread praise from previously skeptical pundits. That also turned out to be her high water mark, however, and her absence from this year’s event may indicate what a polarizing figure she’s become. Sources connected to both Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney’s camps said she backed out of the RNC altogether after not being offered a speaking slot. She said she supports Republican presidential candidate Romney and his running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan , but is focusing her efforts elsewhere. Big Republican names such as Chris Christie, Condoleezza Rice, John McCain, Marco Rubio and even Rick Santorum will speak at the convention. Romney will officially be nominated on August 30. The 35-year old talent manager started dating Kelly Clarkson in late 2011 – and to hear this THG favorite talk about her man, things are going quite well. “One of my favorite things is we’re both in the business,” Clarkson tells People . “He gets my job and he gets how busy it can get, and he gets the sacrifices that we both have to make with our jobs.” The couple owns a German Shepherd named Bear together and Clarkson describes the relationship as simple and “real.” “I think as you get old… you just get less worried about the little stuff that doesn’t matter and you focus more on the bigger picture,” she says. “And, you know, I’m also in love. I’m just super happy right now.” And we’re super happy watching Clarkson cover Eminem again. What a hilarious, terrific rendition!

Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada is speaking out for the first time since Chad Johnson’s arrest for head-butting her , and she’s not exactly downplaying events, standing by her husband or calling it a misunderstanding. She’s pissed. Evelyn told ET in a statement Tuesday: “It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday.” “I am deeply disappointed that Chad failed to take responsibility for his actions and has made false accusations; it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs.” “Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.” Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco), has been charged with domestic battery and cut by the Miami Dolphins . VH1 canceled their reality show as well. Johnson reportedly told police that it was Evelyn Lozada who head butted him, not the reverse, but the 911 call placed by their next door neighbor after the Saturday scuffle certainly does not leave that impression. This time, they were leaving a house party in Los Feliz on Saturday. The pair, who has kept mum on whether or not they’re dating, got into the same car upon exiting the shindig. You know what that means, people. That they’re reducing their carbon footprint. And maybe having sex. Earlier in the week, she was seen being dropped off after spending the night at his house, and it’s not the first time for the possible lovebirds. A source told E! recently that Katy Perry and John Mayer have been “laying low” at the latter’s home, hanging out and having “sleepovers” together. Wrong. Just wrong.

Good news for Chad Johnson: He’s out of jail on $2,500 bond. Bad news: He’s also out of a job. About 24 hours after Chad Johnson’s arrest for domestic violence , the Miami Dolphins released the loquacious, mercurial six-time Pro Bowl receiver. Johnson was released from jail Sunday after his wife, Evelyn Lozada, accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Chad, who married Basketball Wives star Evelyn in Miami on July 4, was officially charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor offense. Only five days earlier, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Johnson’s roster spot could be in jeopardy if he didn’t temper his freewheeling behavior. This incident apparently was the final straw . Johnson, who recently changed his name back from Chad Ochocinco after four years with that absurd surname, was arrested on Saturday. Allegedly, Evelyn Lozada confronted him about a receipt she found in their car trunk for a box of condoms, police said, sparking an argument. With the two seated in the car, they began talking about the receipt and their marriage, and Chad allegedly got angry and head-butted his wife. Lozada ran to a neighbor’s house and called police. A responding officer said Lozada had a 3-inch cut on her forehead, according to reports, while Johnson did not have any visible marks or bruises. When questioned by police, the NFL star confirmed there had in fact been an argument over the receipt, but said his wife had head-butted him. Johnson has long been known for his unusual antics that annoyed his teammates as well as coaches, yet made him popular with many fans. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
